00:00My name is Luke Heathcote, I'm a GP registrar here and I'm working as my first year on the RAC GP training program.
00:06I think I was attracted to the Launceston Medical Centre mainly because of all the structured support going through as well as the extensive teaching program they offer here.
00:15I'm super excited about this registrar program.
00:18We really focus on training and education and it's really our core with that for mentoring our registrars to give the time, the effort and really nurturing those registrars to help be the best that they can be.
00:31We have training sessions twice a week in the morning so they're structured sessions on specific topics every week as well as I've set aside time to sit with my supervisor and go through some cases that I've been struggling with.
00:43It's really helpful to be able to sit down one on one and be able to go through things that you're unsure about especially early on in the training program.
00:49Being co-located in a certain health precinct with the hospital we get the benefit of having the services that we can call on to either the next door at the hospital or even in our own hub where we've got urgent care down the road.
01:01We've got our women's clinic upstairs, we've got skin cancer, we've got goodness travel medicine, we've got all sorts of different things that we can use for our registrars for us as well to help get a different flair of education experience and it also really creates a whole team based approach.
01:20Yeah it's always handy having a cafe on site as well. It's definitely saved me a few times when I forgot to bring my lunch.
01:25It's definitely lived up to expectations here. The team here have gone above and beyond to support me through my training.
01:31I definitely recommend this program to any registrars who are looking to start their training here in Launceston. They're a great place to start your training as well as going on for those final stages of the training as well and exam preparation.
01:43Just so excited about what we can achieve and what we can do here at the hub that will benefit all our registrars that join us.
