00:00I think Smitty needs to leave Barstool Sports.
00:02I don't think this is a good place for him anymore.
00:05I don't think it's been a good place for him
00:06for a long time.
00:07It's The Rundown, brought to you Thursday, October 10th.
00:13It's brought to you by Pardon My Cheesesteaks,
00:16which I was gonna say, you know,
00:19we can't eat cheesesteaks right now, but go ahead.
00:21Eat as many as you want
00:22because Philly is fucking outta here.
00:26So eat up your favorite cheesesteak brands,
00:28the Pardon My Cheesesteaks.
00:30It is made with delicious,
00:32let me tell you the most important part of cheesesteaks,
00:34and it's really not a hard thing to do.
00:36And I don't know why so many people can't figure it out,
00:38but Pardon My Cheesesteaks has figured it out.
00:40You need thinly sliced beef.
00:43Like the meat needs to be thin and chopped up.
00:46You don't need like hunks of roast beef.
00:48It needs to be, or like one,
00:50just like rectangle of meat sliced up.
00:53And then you have the melted provolone.
00:56Provolone is key.
00:57Now I just like it.
00:58And then you also need like soft roll.
01:01We call it a sub, they call it a hoagie.
01:03Either way, you need that soft roll.
01:05It's not that hard to do,
01:06but so many people fuck it up.
01:07Pardon My Cheesesteak does it perfect.
01:10They got the mouthwatering cheese,
01:11the caramelized onions if you're into that.
01:13Some people like the onions and peppers.
01:14I just go straight meat and cheese.
01:16What do you do, Clem?
01:17Whiz without.
01:18Whiz without.
01:19I like the, yeah.
01:20The whiz is, you know, sometimes it gets a little messy.
01:22I like sometimes that if there's a melted cheese,
01:25but just a shit ton of it,
01:27either way, Pardon My Cheesesteak is perfect
01:30for the game day meal or the late night eats.
01:33Throw it in the air fryer and eat leftovers.
01:37Because you know, you can put it in the microwave
01:39and the meat would still be cold,
01:40but the bread would be getting weird.
01:42Air fry it up.
01:44It all works perfectly.
01:44Actually, sometimes what I'll do is I'll take the meat
01:47out of my leftover cheesesteak,
01:49microwave the meat to get it hot enough and melty enough
01:51and put the bread in the air fryer.
01:53Big brain shit.
01:55They have the classic cheesesteak,
01:57the chipotle cheesesteak,
01:58the chicken cheesesteak
01:59and the buffalo chicken cheesesteak,
02:00which to me is like a whole other,
02:02could go on for 10 more minutes about that.
02:04Right now you can go to pardonmycheesesteak.com
02:07and use promo code AWL for delivery.
02:09But like I said, most importantly here is
02:11that the fucking Philadelphia Phillies are outta here.
02:15Max, Roan, Gia, Smitty, outta here.
02:20In what is one of the best series, you know,
02:25the Mets have ever gone through.
02:27People keep saying to me,
02:28it's the first time that the Mets and Phillies
02:29have ever met in the playoffs.
02:30Yeah, man, we're two shitty,
02:32historically shitty franchises.
02:34We've only been to the playoffs a couple of times.
02:36They only started their playoffs run, you know,
02:38in the last couple of decades.
02:39So there hasn't been many opportunities to meet.
02:41It was a classic matchup.
02:44I'm watching all of the highlights
02:47and all of the supplemental ancillary content
02:51that's coming out of it.
02:52I stayed up till 2 a.m. last night,
02:53just watching everything.
02:56I'm in love with the Lindor family.
02:59Him, Katya, Kalina, Amapola, the whole family.
03:04They're the first family of the Mets.
03:05I'm crying my eyes out while he's singing My Girl to them.
03:08I'm an emotional wreck.
03:10It's good to be a Mets fan.
03:12I'm so happy.
03:13I'm so proud of the team.
03:14I'm so proud of the alien Mets.
03:16We did a whole, we did this whole gushing thing last night
03:19and we gotta believe,
03:20if you really wanna see the immediate reactions,
03:22you can go watch that.
03:23But I couldn't be,
03:24I couldn't be riding higher than we are right now.
03:26I know there's a lot more work to be done,
03:28but beating a division rival feels like,
03:31you know, we accomplished something this season.
03:35And as a franchise, you gotta keep building.
03:37And this was a huge building block.
03:38What do you got, Clem?
03:40Yeah, it was awesome.
03:41I would like to thank every single person
03:43in the New York Mets organization
03:44for finishing the series last night.
03:46Cause I don't think I could have survived Friday,
03:49like literal death.
03:50For so many reasons, by the way.
03:52We'll get into that at the end of the show.
03:54I talked to you guys about it.
03:55Like I'm holding myself to Java rules at this point
03:57where it's like on Tuesday, I was like,
03:59guys, I gotta take the night off.
04:00I have bronchitis.
04:01It's been getting worse.
04:02I lost my voice during the Braves game on last Monday.
04:06And it's just been getting worse.
04:07And I'm like, I don't think I'll be able
04:09to like actually be there.
04:10I'll be like, and then I could die live on a stream,
04:13which I guess would do numbers.
04:14Hey, there'll be numbies.
04:15I mean, Clem has literally has mirrored the Mets bullpen
04:19where we were like,
04:20we need a big start out of the other guys.
04:23You know, Frank went to the game and Clem was sick.
04:25And it was like, all right, Pavs, we're calling you up.
04:28Everybody get to the front row.
04:29We need Clem to be able to rest up.
04:32So he's ready for potential elimination games.
04:34And that is just what we did.
04:36Yeah. And to be in, you know, they handled their business.
04:38And again, I held myself to these job roles.
04:40I'm like, all right, listen, big fat.
04:42You're old.
04:44And I was like, all right, no more jumping up.
04:47No more screaming, no more this, no more that.
04:49It's like holding yourself to like, you know,
04:5130 pitches and no more than two innings.
04:53And then by the end of the game,
04:54when Lindor hits a grand slam and after we can't score runs
04:58and then Diaz has the dying man on, you know,
05:01at the plate and it's Kyle Schwarber.
05:04When it happens, the bullets are flying.
05:05I'm jumping, I'm screaming, I'm shaking that ass, right?
05:08So that's kind of what I had to do.
05:09So here I am back on fucking Thursday,
05:12feeling like shit, feeling worse than I did the day before.
05:15But it's all great.
05:17Like you said, Kev, you stay up to 2 a.m.
05:19You're watching the Howie Calls.
05:20You're watching all the replays.
05:22You're watching us aliens dance in the cantina.
05:25You have the guys all singing OMG in the clubs.
05:27They finally get to celebrate first clinching game
05:30at Citi Field, which was incredible.
05:32And it's like, when you have this-
05:33And Cohen in the goggles.
05:34Yes, Cohen in the goggles.
05:35When you have these runs,
05:37I've had it a couple of times in the draft.
05:38And you have to just treasure every moment.
05:40And we don't know where it's going to go.
05:42We'll see what happens.
05:43And it's just, it's everything you want.
05:45And I had a ball in the cave.
05:48Like you go undergo a change.
05:50These players are undergoing a change together.
05:52And everyone, whether it's us idiots on the stream
05:55or the people around the country,
05:58you just become like,
05:59you're in the fucking bunker with these people.
06:01And they're your band of brothers.
06:02And Frank the Tank has become Frank Fleming.
06:05It's fucking stories writing itself.
06:06And we have the assassin over there,
06:09Meek Phil starting Bat Wars.
06:11Listen, there's two things going on.
06:13There's miracles on,
06:15there's miracles and dramatics and theatrics on the field.
06:18I mean, Francisco Lindor is doing
06:20what we all did as a kid when you're in the backyard
06:22with a wiffle ball bat in your hand, in your head.
06:24You're like, it's all right.
06:25It's the ninth inning.
06:26It's late in the game.
06:27You're down, bases loaded.
06:29What do you do?
06:30You hit a grand slam.
06:31Francisco Lindor did that in real fucking life.
06:35And you know, as much as I love the winker pimp
06:37and bat flips, him just like hitting that ball,
06:41jogging around the bases, smiling for OMG.
06:44Like, yeah, this is just another day at the office.
06:46That's happening on the field.
06:47But then off the field,
06:49there's just as much dramatics and theatrics.
06:51You had Meek Phil with a call, a Mendoza-like call,
06:55switching up the seats last night, calling to the pen.
06:59We put Jenks up front.
07:01I don't know exactly what your thing was.
07:02And then the goodbye wave to Max, winker style.
07:05You put on a hell of a performance yourself, Meek.
07:08I mean, we had to make the call game, what was it?
07:10Game one, I think it was,
07:11where Jenks had to sub in for Rico to change up the vibes.
07:15And Clem offered to say like,
07:17hey, I'll go to the back, let's bring Jenks in there.
07:19So Jenks is the unofficial closer of the-
07:22Yes, he's the closer.
07:22You got to bring him up.
07:23You got to bring him into the pen.
07:24And both times, the run started like immediately,
07:28as soon as Jenks got in the room.
07:30So it's pure magic.
07:31And I was watching Max leave the room.
07:33I had to hit him with the bye-bye
07:34because he wasn't there for long.
07:35That was such a good wave.
07:36Like, your whole arm was into it, dude.
07:39Yeah, he stormed out of there.
07:41Ronan Smitty were there just soaking it in
07:43and Max just stormed out of there.
07:45He was still fuming from that eighth inning foul ball.
07:47That was clearly foul, but-
07:49I mean, that was the foulest ball I've ever seen.
07:51I don't even know why we're talking about that.
07:53That was-
07:54The ump was literally wearing glasses.
07:55So he's has corrective vision.
07:56He's super-
07:57There was no chalk.
07:58There was no-
07:59I mean, there's nothing.
07:59Nothing up there.
08:00I don't know what Max is mad about, but-
08:02Listen, you know, Max is this fucking,
08:07like, I call him like a Dothraki.
08:12He's like a maniac, right?
08:12He looks like beard, hair.
08:14He goes absolutely fucking crazy.
08:17Never seen somebody put their foot in their mouth
08:19so bad as he did with that Schwarber home run
08:21in the very first inning.
08:23All day, all night, all week.
08:26They, like, never got a hit again after that.
08:28That's bad!
08:28Fuck!
08:29That's what I said!
08:30Schwarber, right out of the gate!
08:32Not first pitch, second pitch!
08:34Bang!
08:35All week!
08:36All week we're getting this!
08:37This ain't no fucking Brewers!
08:40You don't got Cheerio leading off!
08:42Your best player was Willie Adonis!
08:45This is real baseball!
08:46Cheerio's pretty good.
08:47That was a third pitch, Max.
08:48Cheerio!
08:49Cheerio was really good.
08:51Third pitch, Max.
08:52They only had one guy!
08:53Cheerio's-
08:54This is one for nine!
08:56Let's fucking go!
08:59Yeah, listen.
08:59I know we are in the business of making content
09:02and, you know, making something for people to watch.
09:07I thought the sage gimmick was downright pathetic.
09:11I thought it was a bad joke that went on too long.
09:13Yeah.
09:14Banish all negativity!
09:15Banish all negativity!
09:17Banish all negativity!
09:18Banish all negativity!
09:20Banish all negativity!
09:22Come on, work that shit!
09:23The fight over the bat in the cave,
09:25I wanted to kill all of you.
09:26All I want to do is sit down and watch classic baseball
09:29and I got you, me, fighting over a bat,
09:32a fake, fake bat.
09:33It was a lucky bat!
09:34I know, but once the bodies start flying,
09:37I got legitimately scared, Frank.
09:40And then, and then Roan and the gang saying-
09:44Banish all negativity!
09:45Banish all negativity!
09:46Rebirth, it said like 500 times.
09:48And Lindor just fucking hooked his dick
09:51and jammed it down your throat with a fucking grand slam.
09:53So I loved, I loved how it all played out.
09:57It doesn't matter who the opponent is
09:59because those streams are about the Mets aliens.
10:01I've said that all over the place.
10:03People are tuning in for the Mets
10:05and they're tuning into the streams for us
10:07because we are just the whack pack.
10:09If you, if you watch WWF, we're the oddities,
10:11we're the weirdos and there's something for everyone.
10:14We got big, small veterans, rookies, weirdos,
10:18quiet, superstitious, loud, all of it.
10:20It's, it's the whole gang.
10:23The Yankee stream was making fun of us.
10:25The Yankee stream was like, oh, you see,
10:26they celebrate for every ball and strike.
10:28It's like-
10:28Yeah, I was like, that's what we fucking do!
10:31I wasn't born, I haven't had fucking playoffs
10:33every year of my fucking life.
10:34Like they have.
10:35I fucking, when my team makes it, it's a big deal.
10:37I'm sorry if it offends you.
10:39And we're going to be there every fucking night,
10:41bringing it.
10:42And if God forbid that fucking World Series does happen,
10:45we're going to bring it.
10:45Like, it's nothing against you guys.
10:47It wasn't against the Phillies.
10:48We were doing this with the Brewers.
10:49We're doing it with the Vibs and the Braves.
10:51And we're going to be doing it every fucking game
10:52that the Mets are in.
10:53And we're going to call it as, not as we see it,
10:55but as we want it.
10:56Where it's like, you know, three-inch,
10:58so the player will be like,
10:58fucking up you motherfucker.
11:00And I have to give,
11:01I do have to give Max credit though.
11:03Because Max is like, as crazy as he is,
11:05he's also kind of rational.
11:06He's like, guys, that was outside.
11:07And we're like, fuck off.
11:08You know, I said it to Max
11:10and I didn't want it to seem like it was like,
11:12just because we had won.
11:13But I was like, man, like,
11:14I appreciate you in these streams.
11:16Because like, he doesn't hide.
11:18And he, like,
11:19if the Phillies had actually given him
11:21some of the root for,
11:22he would have been in our asses all series.
11:24But other than the one, this is the other thing,
11:26whenever Max is on these streams, he loses.
11:28He was in Chicago for their one win for us.
11:30So it's like, Max is kind of like,
11:32it was a godsend for us.
11:33Cause he's kind of become the face of like,
11:35getting your heart broken.
11:36Kev, you were the first one with me.
11:38Well, that's what's amazing is that
11:40I've never been on the other side of it.
11:43Like when Smitty walked in and did that obnoxious shit
11:46and hit my hat.
11:48And then the next pitch was an Alonzo home run.
11:51It was like, oh,
11:53this is what it's like when you guys,
11:55when like other guys face me,
11:57it's like, oh, you're just going to lose.
11:59Like it's, you're just not going to win
12:00because it just doesn't happen for you.
12:02And, and listen, man,
12:04Nick Castellanos can suck a fat fucking dick
12:07with all that talk afterwards.
12:09You know, were they the better team?
12:10No, they're not.
12:11They just won this series.
12:12Like the Mets won this series, the playoff series.
12:16They won the series in October against you,
12:18three out of four.
12:19They were a better team in September.
12:21They were a better team in October.
12:23They were a better team in July.
12:25They were a better team in June.
12:26So by my count,
12:28that is almost all the head-to-head matchups
12:30that really matter,
12:31along with about 75% of the season.
12:33So 65 and 40 since June 1st.
12:37So you're not the better team.
12:40You are the worst team.
12:41You had a better team on paper.
12:44You have bigger names.
12:46You don't have a better baseball team.
12:48And that has played out on the field for a long time.
12:50So don't you dare try to diminish this.
12:52This is not, you, by the way,
12:53this whole underdog thing,
12:55no one is saying that except for fucking you guys.
12:58You know, the Cinderella term is getting thrown out there
13:00because they are a team that people did not expect to win
13:03and they now are winning.
13:04But nobody, no,
13:05we have never called ourselves an underdog.
13:07We have said that we were,
13:08we thought we were going to fucking suck.
13:10And now all of a sudden we're good.
13:11But the underdog thing is coming from them, not us.
13:15Yeah.
13:16The Phillies also don't have a song anymore.
13:18Dancing on my own is canceled.
13:19It's OMG.
13:21Oh my God.
13:23We got the remix dropping tomorrow with Pitbull.
13:27That's going to be absolutely electric.
13:28And I, and I implore you,
13:30I know we're all just white guys mumbling Spanish,
13:34but if you look at the words to OMG and you translate it,
13:38it's throw all the bad away and bring me,
13:43bring me prosperity.
13:44And it might be crazy,
13:46but I'm not lazy.
13:47And like, we're going to do this.
13:49It is the fucking Mets mantra.
13:52I don't know if you do that on purpose or what,
13:54but it's like, get rid of the old,
13:55get rid of the bad and bring in the new success.
13:58And that's this fucking song.
13:59So whoever's next, bring them on.
14:03The Dodgers, the Padres.
14:06What's your company line on that?
14:07Don't care.
14:08Give me whoever.
14:08I'm not asking for anything.
14:10You get what you get.
14:10You don't get upset.
14:11It's an honor to be in the NLCS and any team we face,
14:15whether it's the Padres who are basically like
14:16the West Coast, they have a ton of juju.
14:19They have legitimate monsters everywhere.
14:21And then you have the billion dollar Dodgers, right?
14:23Right, right.
14:24Whatever.
14:27I also just have to point out like,
14:29Steve Cohen being like, we wanted to change.
14:32We wanted to slay the Mets negative perception.
14:35Like, we're all but there, man.
14:36Obviously you gotta, let me pose you this question.
14:41I would probably put the Red Sox
14:44breaking a curse against the Yankees,
14:47coming back 0-4, down 0-3,
14:50and winning the World Series
14:51as probably like the greatest run,
14:55at least in modern time.
14:56Greatest like two week, whatever period.
15:00So winning the NLDS is just the stakes aren't high enough.
15:04But in terms of the theatrics, the games themselves,
15:07the matchup and everything else, the home runs,
15:12I think this is one of the most,
15:14it's probably about like, what, 10 days?
15:16Maybe a little less than two weeks.
15:17It's at Sundays.
15:1810 days.
15:19It is-
15:20It started with the Braves.
15:21Braves to now.
15:22One of the best, one of the best
15:23and most dramatic 10 day stretches
15:25in Major League Baseball history.
15:27You got, I mean, the fact that Lindor's Grand Slam
15:29is being debated, which one of, which home run is bigger?
15:34And there's, is it his other home run
15:37or is it Pete's home run?
15:38Or is it this Grand Slam?
15:39That's fucking crazy.
15:41This is way up there on the list.
15:43Obviously if it was a championship series
15:45or the World Series, it would be even bigger.
15:47But I think aside from the Red Sox, this is it for me, man.
15:50Last Monday, bomb of the eighth inning,
15:52Big T and the guys were shopping in the Chicago cave,
15:55shopping on the Mets' graves
15:56and we weren't, we weren't going to be anywhere.
15:59Braves lost, Braves got into the playoffs,
16:01lost the QY2 games, get out of here.
16:03You can go shop somewhere else.
16:05Yeah, I mean, that Lindor home run,
16:08you know, the Pete home run is like,
16:09literally had never happened before, those circumstances.
16:12So I think you still might have to give the edge to Pete,
16:14but, you know, a Grand Slam to beat Philly,
16:17your divisional rival, in an elimination game.
16:23I don't know, is it the Atlanta home run,
16:25which started all this, Clem?
16:27Or is it the one that finishes Philly?
16:30It's like picking my favorite child, Kevin.
16:32I love them all the same.
16:33I like some more than others, but I love them all the same.
16:36And that's it, it's like,
16:38they're all just perfect in my eyes, 10 out of 10.
16:40I'd have to lean Atlanta home runs
16:42because it was the ninth inning, would want out.
16:44That is a big deal.
16:45Whereas, if Lindor's a sack flyer,
16:47it's like still a six inning,
16:48we could get another rally going.
16:50The ninth inning, that was it.
16:51That was do or die.
16:52Yeah, I was also thinking like,
16:54I was thinking Lindor was gonna get a sack fly, a base hit.
16:58You know, he was in a good spot there.
16:59It wasn't like, you know, back against the ropes.
17:04I suppose we could talk about the Yankees.
17:06You know, I don't know.
17:07They're boring stream.
17:08Mike Stanton bailed them out.
17:10They were in, they were, if they were, you know,
17:11they were on the ropes there a little bit.
17:13Now for Mike Stanton, you know,
17:15you'd be down to the Royals.
17:16I mean, here's the deal.
17:17The Yankees have the easiest path to the World Series,
17:20maybe of all time.
17:21They're playing, the sports gods said here,
17:25you get to play in the AL Central
17:27for the next couple of weeks.
17:29And if you are the best team out of, you know,
17:31the worst division in baseball,
17:34you get to go to the World Series.
17:35Is it fair?
17:36No.
17:36Is that how it works?
17:37Yes.
17:38They can't do it now.
17:39I don't think they'll ever do it.
17:41It is a collision course for Doomsday.
17:43And an apocalypse series
17:44that I don't even want to get ahead of myself,
17:45but it would be an absolute nightmare.
17:47But yeah, I guess you got to talk about the Yankees too.
17:49They are just very boring though.
17:52I don't like the Yankees.
17:54That's a known fact.
17:55Or I don't know, the Yankees fans growing up
17:57were very rude to us Mets fans, as you can agree.
18:00The one thing I will say is the one thing that unites us
18:04is as we're screaming about how shitty our broadcast
18:06is on FS1, the Yankees fans are complaining about TBS
18:10and we hate it every moment on ESPN.
18:12National broadcasts are fucking the world.
18:14I don't know how you can't just be like,
18:17every fucking local broadcast,
18:18everyone's happy with theirs.
18:19And I know you have to figure out ways to use your people
18:22if you're these companies,
18:23you spend millions of dollars to get the rights.
18:25But dude, it's terrible.
18:27You're not showing the bullpens.
18:28Cubs would tell me when they took co-op the other day,
18:30it's like, we didn't even know who was coming in
18:31for we just, they went to commercial.
18:33Like, I don't understand.
18:34It's like fundamental broadcasting 101.
18:36I don't know if the people who knew what they're doing
18:38are all old and retired,
18:39or they have people who never covered baseball
18:41in their lives going on baseball, but it's terrible.
18:44Like, I don't, and listen,
18:45I loved seeing Yankees fans squirm,
18:46but I'd be losing my mind if George Brett
18:48was on half the screen.
18:49As the-
18:50He could be on the whole screen.
18:51He could be on the whole screen.
18:52For like a half an inning, you know,
18:54it's one thing when the broadcasters are bad.
18:57Cause it's like, they don't know the names.
18:59They don't know the story.
19:01It's impossible.
19:02They don't watch them 162 games.
19:03But like the camera work, the angle on that,
19:07that the fair foul ball in Yankee stadium,
19:10where they were like, the foul ball was in the way.
19:13Like, they're not showing the pen, like you said.
19:16Bob Costas is terrible too.
19:17Like he's like a homer, but he's also just weird.
19:21And it's like, and I hate to say it.
19:22I love Bob Costas, but he is doing a bad job.
19:24He's bad.
19:25I feel bad for the people who are the younger generation
19:28who only know him from this,
19:33on baseball.
19:35But this, if this is your only experience with him,
19:36you'd be like, this is the worst.
19:37This is the worst ever.
19:38At some point, you just have to move on from these guys.
19:40And like Al Michaels too, I'm sorry.
19:41He's fucking terrible too.
19:43He's just bad at this point.
19:44It was like, oh, it's cause they're bad games.
19:46He has good games now.
19:47And he still just doesn't give a fuck.
19:48Malik Nabors was like dead on the field.
19:50And he's like, third down for the Giants here.
19:52Trying to, yo, our best player is fucking knocked out.
19:55You moron.
19:56So it's like Bob Costas,
19:58like just cause they're brand names, man.
20:00And like, we don't need,
20:01I don't need to hear A.J. Pierzinski or Adam Wainwright.
20:03There are such thing as good players
20:05that can give good takes.
20:06I have to say like, as much as I hated them,
20:09like A-Rod and Jeets, and I love Poppy.
20:11Them in the studio is good,
20:13but on the broadcast, give me broadcasters.
20:15Give me Joe Bucks and give me people
20:17that actually can add, find a Greg Olsen for baseball.
20:20Cause these guys just are not doing it right now.
20:22Yeah.
20:23Ron Darling sounds very cynic of Bob Costas.
20:25Like last night, Bob Costas was like,
20:27line drive, center field, base hit.
20:29It's, I think it was smothered by Volpe.
20:32And Ron's like, it's clearly an out.
20:34Yeah. Yeah.
20:34He, you know, Ron's going from the best
20:36in the business to the scrubs.
20:38So yeah, I mean, you know, the AL,
20:41we'll see what happens there.
20:43Listen, Mets fans, Kev, you're like me.
20:45Every, we've, we're Yankees haters as well.
20:48You're a Mets fan until usually August,
20:50then they're dead and they're like, all right,
20:51I guess I'm a Yankees hater the rest of the year.
20:53I usually go for the Red Sox or whoever.
20:55We know these stories, the Royals, the Guardians,
20:59the A's back in the day.
21:01Those teams do not beat the Yankees.
21:02It's the Angels, the Red Sox,
21:04maybe like a White Sox or Tigers can sneak in there.
21:07So I really don't have very high hopes right now.
21:10Yeah. It feels like there's a bunch of twins still left,
21:12you know, always the AL Central minus, you know,
21:16the Tigers perhaps, but the rest is a,
21:18should it probably gonna end up being a cake walk for them.
21:20So I'm not even worried about that yet though.
21:22Cause we are, we are, you know, people are being like,
21:26you know, you haven't done yet.
21:27It's like, let us, let us, let us worry about that.
21:31You know what I mean?
21:32I mean, I'm a fucking absolute blast as Mets fan.
21:34So I know people,
21:37I think most people hated watching Mets fans be happy.
21:39I think that's turning.
21:40And I think there's a lot of people happy to watch us aliens
21:44and to see the dramatics and see like awesome guys
21:46like Lindor do it.
21:47So we'll see what, where, you know,
21:49both Yankees and Mets perception kind of goes.
21:52Kevin, Dave is happy that you're,
21:54Yeah, right.
21:55That's how you know.
21:56Yeah.
21:57That he just lost, you know, what, like 200 grand and,
22:01and he's still, and it's me and he's still doing it.
22:04So we just lost me for a second.
22:06He said, he's coming back.
22:07I'll do a little ad read for the second half of the rundown.
22:09Anyway, it is brought to you by

22:22I'm gonna need these for the rest of the post season
22:24of the Mets make a deep run.
22:26Now we're talking seven games.
22:27So no matter what you're doing multiple days,
22:30Late nights, Kev.
22:31Late nights, we're not doing these four o'clock starts
22:33no more, which were great for your boy,
22:36but we're gonna need the deliciously great energy gummies
22:40and shots.
22:41No weird ingredients.
22:41It's just good, clean caffeine.
22:43Just the good stuff, baby.
22:45The best selling flavors are peach, mango,

22:51which is the perfect amount of time
22:52to watch the Mets win a ball game
22:54and then go through all the awesome shit on the internet.
22:58Five times more caffeine than a shot of espresso.
23:00And you can get 30% off right now
23:03when you use code WILD at properwild.com.
23:07Did you see the Phillies girl I posted last night?
23:10You saw her say-
23:11Yeah, she said that this,
23:13the Phillies losing was worse than her dog dying.
23:15Yeah, we'll put the clip in here.
23:17It was-
23:17So there's a couple of low points in my life.
23:21My dog passing away and then getting a grand slam.
23:24The grand slam took the cake.
23:25I feel like I might either check into AA therapy
23:29or an institute of some sort,
23:30because this is crap, it's full of crap.
23:32And I want everyone gone, I want the bartenders gone,
23:35I want Xfinity gone, I want my best friend gone,
23:37I want them all gone.
23:39This is bull crap.
23:40I've had two terrible moments in my life.
23:42The dog dying and Lindor's home run.
23:45Lindor passed the dog.
23:47She was like, I want to get rid of this team.
23:50I want to get rid of Xfinity.
23:51I want to get rid of all my friends.
23:53I'm over it.
23:54I think Phillies fans are fed up, man.
23:58I think, you know, you were in the World Series,
24:00then you were backed up to the CS,
24:01now you're backed up to the DS.
24:04I will tell you this much.
24:05If they don't get one done at some point with this core,
24:09the Diamondbacks year will haunt them forever.
24:13Forever.
24:15That was a team they were absolutely better than,
24:18and they blew it.
24:19But I think, you know, I think they're fed up, man.
24:21That lineup on paper is something special.
24:24But I did see somebody tweet today.
24:25A Philly fan said, give me a young Dominican
24:28with some swag and a big chain and elbow pads
24:32that the color doesn't match his uniform.
24:35Give me one of those.
24:35And I was like, yo, we got those in spades over here.
24:38Fucking awesome.
24:40But, you know, as fearsome as that
24:43that Schwarber, Turner, Harper, Castellanos lineup is,
24:46you know, the back of that,
24:48the end of that lineup did nothing.
24:49And I think Philly fans are ready to turn on this team.
24:54So we've kind of seen it with the Sixers, right?
24:57Where it's like when the Knicks beat the Sixers last year,
24:59which by the way, Kev,
25:00I will be getting a part of my cheesesteak tonight.
25:02Because when you're playing Philly teams in the playoffs,
25:04you hear about cheesesteaks all the time.
25:06And you're like, I want that so bad, but I can't have it.
25:08And then when my team beats them, I go,
25:10well, now I can have a cheesesteak.
25:11To the victor go the spoils.
25:13So I'll be eating my cheesesteak tonight.
25:14But the Knives are going to come out now
25:16because they have, like with MB,
25:18they're like, I'm done with the Sixers.
25:20They don't make it past the second round every single year.
25:23And now like it was all Schwarbe and Harper
25:26and fucking Castellanos.
25:28And if you come up this short in Philly
25:30and then you keep coming up shorter every year,
25:32that's when they're going to really start, you know,
25:34like the patience has run out
25:35and the return of boos are going to be coming back.
25:38And Fulb is going to be like, I mean,
25:40they were getting booed in game two before that come back.
25:43And they were,
25:44I think there was someone who kind of mouths like,
25:46I can't believe these fucking guys, you know?
25:47And that's just the way it is out there.
25:50A tiger can't change its stripes.
25:52They had this little thing with Boom and Turner
25:56where they like supported a guy who was playing shitty
25:59and everyone was like, oh wow, look at Philly.
26:00It's like, no, no, no, no, no.
26:01That is just, that's Cinderella.
26:04The clock struck midnight.
26:05You're back to being, you know, shitty ass pumpkin
26:09with, you know, just hating your own existence.
26:12So welcome back, Philly.
26:13That's where you fucking.
26:14Now it's just Eagle season now.
26:17And I don't know which way it's going to go
26:19because it's been tough for them.
26:20I know they're coming off a bye, get A.J. Brown back.
26:22But if the Eagles are the most,
26:24like that whole team is on the hot seat.
26:26Sirianni is just like, fuck, I have to coach my dick.
26:29And you lose to Cleveland on Sunday
26:31and that bum Deshaun Watson,
26:33there's going to be some trouble there.
26:35Meanwhile, the Jets are like saving all the,
26:39the Mets are saving all the Jets fans.
26:41Cause we'd be in hell right now.
26:43If it's, hey, it's baseball season.
26:45We ain't worried about that.
26:46Um, we got to talk about the, the Barstool drama.
26:51If you watch the unnamed show earlier today,
26:55what unfolded on there was one of the absolute craziest
26:59things I've ever seen at Barstool.
27:02I mean that sincerely, I am very prone to exaggeration.
27:04I'm always talking about best and worst
27:06and of all time and ever seen,
27:09but that was fucking bonkers.
27:11Uh, I will say this,
27:15Smitty, uh, he went,
27:18I was one of the people he went off on too.
27:20Didn't really care for that.
27:21Didn't like the way he was talking to me and treating me.
27:24Hated the way he hit my cap when he walked in.
27:26Uh, he did text me early, early this morning
27:30and apologized for that.
27:32Uh, but I think he was more worried
27:35about going on the unnamed show than anything.
27:36And that's where that apology came from.
27:38I'll say this,
27:40I think Smitty needs to leave Barstool Sports.
27:42I don't think this is a good place for him anymore.
27:44I don't think it's been a good place for him for a long time.
27:47And it clearly causes more stress and pain
27:50and anxiety for him and his family.
27:52And that is not okay.
27:54Like, I'm not saying that's just, that's the breaks, man.
27:57But it's just like, this is a situation
28:00that creates certain circumstances
28:01for you and your family
28:02where the juice is not worth the squeeze, man.
28:04And, uh, I think some of that was,
28:08some of Smitty was, um,
28:11you know, heart, it was all heartfelt and emotional,
28:14but some of it is just not, you know,
28:17it's symptoms of a much deeper problem
28:22because at the end of the day,
28:23what we're talking about is a dude who missed a stream
28:26for a baseball, uh, for a birthday party.
28:29And that's all it needed to be.
28:30And that's all it could have been.
28:32And, uh, and that's when all of a sudden
28:35it turned into my family and my family's tragic past.
28:41And, uh, you know, I think that was a bad idea
28:45for someone who's very emotional and very, uh,
28:49you know, it seems to be in a bad spot
28:51to bring all that into this world
28:53where it was just really more about razzing,
28:56getting razzed by your boss for being late
28:58or missing a stream or whatever.
29:00Um, I don't think that was a great move.
29:03And, uh, I mean, it was, it was, that was crazy.
29:07Did you watch, Clem?
29:08That was crazy.
29:08Yeah, I caught, I caught some of it,
29:09but I didn't get to watch the whole thing.
29:10It's just like, it's, like I said, it's a tough watch.
29:12And, you know, I think life just changes.
29:15I mean, obviously we fall in this mini boat.
29:17We're getting older.
29:18We have families, you know, with kids
29:20and you have all these different hot blows, as they say.
29:22And there's things that pull you a million different ways.
29:24And there's different ways that you can just like
29:26divvy up your time or if there's certain things
29:28you just can't get to.
29:30But it's also the point where it's like,
29:31you have to start thinking about your future.
29:33And I mean, even though he's just like, fuck,
29:34like I have this and you just know you're in a jam.
29:36So I really do sympathize or empathize with Smitty.
29:38I don't even know what the right word is.
29:40But at the same point, it's like, like you said, Kevin,
29:43is the juice worth the squeeze?
29:44And I mean, that's up to Smitty, but I mean,
29:46he talks about, you know, a lot of it's the morbidity
29:48and stuff and it's like, you don't want to fucking
29:51stress yourself out to fucking an early grave
29:53because of this kind of shit too, you know?
29:55It's like terrifying stuff.
29:56That was kind of my point.
29:59And, you know, it's, I'm going to back up Dave
30:04a little bit on this one and the guys on Unnamed
30:06where it's like, when you come out saying like,
30:10that was despicable that you're talking about my family.
30:15And if you don't know the story, it was his wife's father
30:18was one of the pilots in 9-11.
30:20Like it was never about that until you brought that up.
30:25So now it's like a talking point and now it needs
30:27to be discussed because that's the world we live in
30:29for better or worse.
30:30And I'll be honest, when he started talking and he said,
30:36I want to begin by saying that was like,
30:38it was despicable and deplorable.
30:41And I thought he was going to take responsibility
30:45for his own actions and be like, it was despicable
30:47the way I was acting yesterday,
30:49because he was screaming at Gaz, he was screaming at me.
30:53And I was like, you know, pretty stunned by his behavior
30:58and no, it just went down that other route,
31:00which is certainly very sad.
31:04So Kevin, I've had a lot of talks.
31:07I think a lot of people here have had a lot of talks
31:09with him over the last year
31:10and especially over the last few months.
31:13And it just seems like it's just been a culmination
31:15of, you know, 15 years of stress working for Dave,
31:18working here, everything being public.
31:21And then having two young kids and just,
31:25I just think everything blew up his brain
31:28and he's clearly, I mean, Unnamed was so uncomfortable,
31:32but not in like the content,
31:34like can't wait to see what happens next cringe way,
31:39almost just like we need to end this show
31:41and get this guy some help sort of way.
31:45She's not worth it, you know, to work here.
31:50At this point, you know, it's like,
31:55this place ain't changing, the internet ain't changing
31:58and it's right or wrong or fair or not fair,
32:02however you want to call it.
32:04You know, it's just a job and it ain't worth it
32:07if it brings you and it seems like it brings you
32:10and your family like a ton of pain.
32:13It's not even like stress.
32:14Everyone here is like stressed.
32:15It seems like this is pain.
32:18And, you know, I actually think Dave
32:21has been pretty sympathetic towards it all
32:23and pretty accommodating in a lot of ways.
32:26And Smitty does not see it that way.
32:28And when you are that on opposite ends of the spectrum
32:33where Dave's like, I'm letting you work from home
32:35and I haven't bothered you and letting you like skip things
32:39and it's okay, but a couple of texts or tweets
32:43or mentions, a lot of mentions on certain shows.
32:47He brought up as, you know,
32:49he views that as intolerable and untenable
32:52and that is your right,
32:53but then you have to make that decision
32:55for yourself and your family to go.
32:57And that's not an easy one, but there are other jobs,
32:59there is other money, there's other ways to make a living
33:03that don't involve torturing yourself like this clearly.
33:07Yeah, he brought up on unnamed.
33:08He was like, read this text from August 9th.
33:11And it was just like very cryptic,
33:14like maybe something's wrong,
33:16maybe something's not wrong.
33:17And I mean, we know Dave,
33:18he's not gonna ask you what's wrong.
33:21He's not gonna say, is everything okay?
33:23How may I help?
33:24That never once has he done that.
33:26Unless you go to him and go, I need help.
33:28And he's way more than helpful.
33:30Like-
33:31Well, that's the thing is if, you know,
33:33God forbid there was something wrong,
33:34it sounded like somebody was sick, a child,
33:36a spouse, a family member.
33:38If you said that, I think Dave,
33:40first of all, Dave's already letting him
33:43do his, whatever he needs to do.
33:46I don't know.
33:47I don't know what else-
33:48He took that non-reply in August
33:52as like a slap in the face.
33:54And I tried to tell Smitty that yesterday.
33:56I was like, Dave doesn't wish ill will on your children.
33:59Like he doesn't, I don't.
34:01He just, he sees a text
34:02and then if it doesn't like affect him or whatever,
34:05it's just like, all right,
34:06Smitty's gonna do what he has to do.
34:07Also when people, if you leave it cryptic, like you said,
34:11I, you know, if I'm ever in those situations,
34:13I take it as like, you're not speaking about details.
34:17You know?
34:18You said I have a family issue.
34:20I have to, you know, however he phrased it,
34:22like, it's like, okay, like whatever you need to do.
34:25And that's where it comes back to Smitty
34:26is just brain melting.
34:27Is he took that as a direct, like,
34:31shot at him and his family
34:33where it just was not ever intended to be that way.
34:38And he just needs to take time.
34:41I'm sure they're working on something right now
34:44because yeah, that, you just hate to see something
34:47you've known for a decade plus, like be like that.
34:51It sucks.
34:52Yeah.
34:52Yeah.
34:53And listen, we, you know, it's, you know, Dave is,
34:55the Dave versus Smitty dynamic has been here forever.
34:58And it's kind of like Dave plays the hits sometimes
35:00when it's, you know, him and Bosco,
35:01they kind of run their crosshairs.
35:02And I said it the other day, like,
35:04I'm sure Smitty was watching that game on game two
35:07on Sunday, happy the Phillies won,
35:08but when it broke, the way it broke, he goes,
35:10I'm going to hear it.
35:11And he really didn't hear it as bad
35:12as I thought it was going to be,
35:14but it's really like,
35:15I'm sure it's just a culmination
35:16of all the shit over the years.
35:18But then all Dave's point of view of him missing the stream
35:21is a culmination of all his shit over the years with Smitty.
35:24And here we are.
35:24And then we have moments like the unnamed.
35:26Truly a powder keg.
35:28On the other side of the coin.
35:30Saying powder keg is such a funny phrase that we use.
35:34Prince Ferdinand, everyone that's,
35:36as Prince Ferdinand,
35:36it's essentially the powder keg, right?
35:37It's what we all learned in grade school.
35:38They called it the powder keg.
35:40On the other side of the coin,
35:41we're joined on this podcast right now
35:43with the one-one,
35:44if Dave was to do a draft of current Barstool employees,
35:47Meek Mill, who couldn't be further from where Smitty is.
35:49I know, you're riding the magic carpet ride right now.
35:53I get, I mean, I was having an issue in this room
35:55on my MacBook.
35:56I think we have plugs that aren't plugged in apparently.
35:59So I always thought I was charging this whole time.
36:00Welcome to Barstool, Meek.
36:01Where the fuck are you looking at the internet?
36:03You don't get internet, man.
36:04Now this has been a big, you know,
36:06the big winners of the week are like, you know,
36:08Lindor and right behind him, 1A is Meek.
36:13I kept saying, like,
36:14Pete Alonzo's home run last week.
36:16It's the greatest butterfly effect of all time.
36:18It's changed your life.
36:19It's changed your life.
36:20It's changed many lives.
36:22Yeah, yeah.
36:23So yeah, I mean, it's weird to,
36:27it's perfectly Barstool.
36:29I think it's, you know,
36:31for better or worse and maybe in this case,
36:34a little too serious and too real,
36:36but it's the craziest realist reality show out there
36:40that the story was the games, you know,
36:42the teams themselves,
36:43and then it became a Barstool story and the streams.
36:46And I'll just say this to end it.
36:48I am so happy there was not a game five
36:51because that stream would have been so uncomfortable.
36:54And I don't know what would have happened,
36:56but yeah, I think, you know,
37:00it's good that this is over.
37:02And I hope, I really do believe it's probably better
37:05for Smitty to move on to greener pastures,
37:06but if he wants to stay here,
37:08I hope that before he does anything else,
37:10he's like, make sure he's in a good head space
37:13for him and his family,
37:14because it is, it's, life is too short
37:17and you got too much other shit to worry about.
37:19You know, you gotta go take your kids here
37:20and do that with them and take care of them.
37:22You can't be doing all that if you're freaking out at work
37:25and fighting Dave and all that.
37:26So, you know, you can make money elsewhere,
37:30but if it's still going to be here,
37:32got to make some changes.
37:33So good luck to Smitty.
37:37I guess we'll end on-
37:38Good luck to us, or the Mets.
37:38Good luck to the Mets.
37:39Yes, good luck to us.
37:40I do want to end on-
37:41Hooray for me, hooray for school.
37:43Completely separated.
37:45Shout out to Lieutenant Dan survived the hurricane
37:49on his boat.
37:49Oh, he did?
37:50Yeah, there was a video of him today.
37:52He said, he goes, my boat got clean
37:55because my boat's in better shape.
37:58He was like, I slept through the night.
38:00I woke up two times to pee,
38:02but I slept from midnight to 5 a.m.
38:05I smoked half a joint and I am feeling good now.
38:08And he said it actually restored his faith in humanity
38:11because there was a bunch of people who showed up
38:13at that dock and moved his boat to a safer place
38:16and helped him rig it up so it was safe.
38:18And so now he was like,
38:20I thought that the world forgot about me,
38:22but the world, you know, remembered me.
38:23So shout out to Lieutenant Dan.
38:26Shout out to-
38:27Yeah, yeah.
38:29That's life imitating art
38:30because Lieutenant Dan and Forrest Gump,
38:32he lives through the storm and his life,
38:34he becomes a fucking bazillionaire.
38:36There you go.
38:37Maybe Lieutenant Dan is gonna ride the wave.
38:39There's a lot of magic, you know, pixie dust going on.
38:42And in the words of OMG, Phil, you know,
38:45toro lo malo, lecha pala.
38:48What is it?
38:48Toro lo malo, lecha pala.
38:51I don't speak Spanish.
38:53Toro lo malo, lecha pala.
38:55Let the good, get rid of the bad.
38:57Get the bad out of here, get the good in here.
39:00And let's go Mets.
39:01Gotta go Mets.
39:02Gotta go Mets.
39:05Make sure you go get your Mets merch.
39:06We've got the OMG shirt,
39:08which is like the culminate,
39:09the montage of all of our viral moments.
39:11We got a new Grimace comic book shirt.
39:15Both of those are available in crew necks
39:16and hoodies and sweatshirts.
39:18We've also got the Grimace pumpkin.
39:19We've got the Grimace purple seat, LFGM.
39:23We got a lot of great Mets merch for the playoff push here.
39:26So go get it.
39:28No, Kevin, you forgot the other part of the after show.
39:32Oh, happy birthday, Nate.
39:34Happy birthday to you.
39:35Happy birthday, Nate.
39:36Happy birthday to you.
39:37Happy birthday to you, Nate Dogg.
39:39Happy birthday to the Dogg.
39:42Hey, you had one of the greatest Smitty moments of all time.
39:45What was the name?
39:47Wait, what?
39:48Donovan McNate.
39:49Donovan McNate.
39:50No, no, no.
39:51What was the maid's name?
39:53Osagis?
39:55Yeah, what was the name of the maid?
39:57Just do the fucking jacuzzi and that's it.
39:59We're literally, I'm not,
40:00we're literally not putting this video out.
40:03Like, you can start it over and do it all yourself,
40:05but like-
40:06All right, maybe that's what's gonna happen.
40:07I'm not doing this with you.
40:10What about Glenda?
40:11I'm not doing, like,
40:12you've ruined every part of this video by not trying,
40:14like, to understand.
40:15You gotta do it for Glenda at this point.
40:17I'm not doing this video.
40:19So we're not gonna, like,
40:20you can just delete this whole thing
40:21because this isn't going up.
40:24None of that's going on the website.
40:25You ruined that entire thing.
40:27None of that's going on the website.
40:28Okay.
40:29Like, if you want to do the Cribs video from the beginning,
40:31like, go ahead and do it.
40:32But the fact that you just have to be a fucking dickhead
40:34the entire time and you can't, like,
40:36do anything out of your element or anything different,
40:39you're just like a fucking asshole the entire time.
40:41Like, it's like impossible to work with you
40:43when you do that.
40:44Like, it's like incredible.
40:47Like, I can't even, like, take Fireball out.
40:48Yo, why didn't you just sponsor?
40:50Like, shut the fuck up.
40:52Like-
40:53Nate, calm down.
40:54You're just so fucking stupid.
40:56Nate, I apologize.
40:57You don't, though.
40:58Like, it's just-
40:59Nate, Nate, I think things are gonna be all right.
41:02We're gonna work well together as a team.
41:08Glenda, Glenda, Glenda.
41:10Nate, Nate, Glenda, and Smitty.
41:12Yeah, listen, I would say that you are
41:1730% culpable for everything
41:18that's happened to Smitty right now.
41:21No, Gaz.
41:22Gaz is the other 70, so whatever.
41:25Yeah, that's fine.
41:25Gaz is a huge part of it.
41:26Dave's a huge part of it,
41:27but the dog is a huge chunk of the pie.
41:31I mean, come on.
41:32Nate and Smitty, Smitty and Nate.
41:34It was Tom and Jerry.
41:35It was an eternal rivalry that started,
41:37you know, you started filling the powder keg like the star.
41:40You started filling the powder keg about 10 years ago,
41:43and at the bottom of that powder keg
41:45is all Nate gunpowder.
41:46It's all-
41:47A lot of lines were crossed.
41:48Don't you dare bring that star painting into this.
41:50Don't you dare.
41:54Don't you dare.
41:55Don't you dare.
41:57Don't you dare.
41:58Don't you dare.
41:59Don't you dare.
42:01Don't you dare.
42:02Don't you dare.
42:03Don't you dare.
42:04Don't you dare.
42:06Don't you dare.
42:07Don't you dare.
42:08Don't you dare.
42:10Don't you dare.
42:11Don't you dare.
42:12Don't you dare.
42:14Don't you dare.
42:15Don't you dare.
42:16Don't you dare.
42:18Don't you dare.
42:19Don't you dare.
42:20Don't you dare.
42:22Don't you dare.
