00:00Hi everyone, so this week is National Curry Week and I don't know about you but I don't
00:06need an excuse to eat curry. If it was the last meal on earth that would be my go-to,
00:11I could literally eat it all day every day. Usually I go for a gel freezie or a madras
00:16or something with a bit more of a kick but I decided to venture to three different stores
00:20and go out of my comfort zone and get three things, three different dishes that I don't
00:24usually go for in the spirit of National Curry Week. So let's take a look at what I
00:30bought and I'm going to price match and taste test and see if the most expensive one is
00:35actually the nicest. So let's take a look at what I've bought.
00:41So the first shop I went to was Aldi and I picked up their butter chicken, the specially
00:48selected gastro one. And then I've paired it, or I'm going to pair it with some plain
00:54basmati rice because I feel like butter chicken has enough sort of flavours in it, it doesn't
01:00really need a spicy rice or a flavoured rice. Second one, so this is the most expensive
01:07by the way, this one is, I think it was about £7. So this is M&S's range, Carolyn King
01:12Prawn Curry. So I just thought, do you know what, let's try a madly of different ones.
01:17So we've got chicken and prawn and then I've paired the prawn one with some Pailu rice.
01:24See what it's like. And then obviously seared on my, or keep it on my spicy side, I wanted
01:30to try this from Sainsbury's. And I thought I would sort of marinate some diced beef shin
01:38and put them both in the slow cooker for a few hours. And then instead of my usual, I
01:43usually have a red wine. I just, I'm literally obsessed with these at the minute. I don't
01:48know if you've seen my last video. And I've tried this one previously, my favourite one
01:53was cucumber and mint, not anymore. This is honestly, this is unreal if you haven't tried
01:59it. So this will be nice and refreshing with all these curries that will last me a week.
02:05But yeah, so I'm going to try all these and I will get back to you and let you know if
02:10the most expensive one is actually the nicest.
02:17So as you can see, the final product with a little bit of garlic naan bread. So this
02:22is the prawn one from M&S with some Pailu rice. And then this is the slow cooker beef
02:33curry, which looks lovely. It looks like it's nice. Melt off the fork, beef, and then
02:43the butter chicken from Aldi. So let's see which one is the nicest.
02:50Okay so now I have sampled all three curries and I have enough to do me probably the end
02:55of this week, starting next week. I'm actually very shocked at which one I would place that
03:01number one. It wasn't what I had originally thought. So the butter chicken one from Aldi,
03:09which is £3.65 has actually come out the winner, which again, I'm very surprised by.
03:15It's just full of flavour and you know, it was akin to something you would get in a restaurant,
03:21I personally think. Then second up was the Sainsbury's one. This one here, the Farran
03:32Goan curry, if I pronounced that right, which is the one I put in the slow cooker. I needed
03:38it for about four hours on high. It was lovely because it's more my sort of curry as I love
03:43spice. So it had a nice kick to it, I would say. It was a blend between a gel freezie
03:48and a madras by several ways. And then lastly, which I'm very disappointed in this, I think,
03:56ta-da! So this one from M&S that was £7, the king prawn curry. I honestly was expecting so
04:04much more. I find that it wasn't, for £7 I would expect it to be set apart from the rest of the
04:11other two, which are half the price, but I just find it quite bland. I didn't think there was
04:15much flavour to it. And also it's quite watery. So yeah, I'm very disappointed in the M&S
04:23range, as I say. I wanted it at that price it should be of restaurant quality, but this time
04:28it just fell short. So yeah, guys, if you're after a curry that won't break the bank,
04:35the butter chicken one from Aldi does the trick. Happy National Curry Week!
