A quick grab-and-go lunch and an absolute staple for workers, the meal deal is practically part of our DNA. And this time of year it gets even better. You can enjoy all the flavours of a Christmas dinner between two slices of bread. I'm going to try some of the best supermarkets' have on offer.

00:00 Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch on the go or you want a really easy tea, grabbing
00:07 a supermarket butty has become almost synonymous with being British. But at this time of the
00:14 year we get an extra treat because the supermarkets have on offer their Christmas sandwich selection
00:22 and sometimes more. I am going to three supermarkets chosen at random to grab a sandwich, to try
00:29 their festive selection. Let's go. Just been to Morrisons, I have picked up their Christmas
00:38 lunch in a wrap and now that is sausage, bacon, staged onion stuffing as well as some cranberry
00:45 sauce and mayonnaise. So as you can see it does look quite generously filled. I like
00:50 that you can see some green in there, that spinach makes you feel a little bit healthier.
00:54 I think wraps always feel a little bit lighter anyway but let's give it the taste test. So
01:01 it is a nice big bit of sausage in there. You get the nice saltiness of the bacon and
01:08 then the sweetness of the cranberry sauce comes through as well. So it starts off quite
01:13 savoury and then grows a little bit sweet which I think is quite reminiscent of a Christmas
01:18 dinner anyway. Now although they don't do a meal deal I had to go to Marks and Spencer's.
01:24 They actually have the best selection I have seen out of any supermarkets and I have gone
01:29 for the Christmas Club although it was hard to choose. This is roast chicken breast with
01:35 cranberry chutney, pickled red cabbage, stuffing, bacon, spinach and it is actually on a toasted
01:41 bread. So because it is a club it does have three bits of bread. Wow. They say toasted
01:48 I think this is very lightly toasted but generously filled as you can see. So let's take a bite.
02:00 It's nice. I think it has got all the flavours of Christmas. A little bit of green in there
02:06 from the spinach again, from the red cabbage. It does look quite vibrant. I know I chose
02:14 it but three bits of bread are a bit excessive. Now it wouldn't be fair to leave out the non-meat
02:20 eaters so I popped along to Aldi and picked up their vegan festive feast which is parsnip
02:27 fritter with cranberry chutney, sliced cabbage and sultanas with an onion, vegan mayonnaise,
02:34 fried onions and spinach. Bright colours in there. Let's give it a taste test. This is
02:42 a pretty sweet one with the sultanas and parsnip going on. I think you would expect it to be.
02:49 So after tasting sandwiches from Morrisons, M&S and Aldi I can officially say that Morrisons
02:58 was the winner for me. It wasn't too over complicated and was light enough for lunch.
