00:00What's a successful year for the Bees, Keefe?
00:02I mean, the goal is always a Stanley Cup.
00:05What's a successful year for the Bruins?
00:07I think second round of the playoffs.
00:09You know, back where they were.
00:10Yeah, I think so.
00:11I think that's probably what I would expect it to be.
00:15I think there's good teams in the East,
00:17and depending on who you play,
00:18and it's also one of those things, too,
00:19where how you lose that series is a big determinant.
00:22Like, is it a hard-fought seven-game series or whatever,
00:25or do you get swept?
00:26It feels so much different.
00:27Like, if you just get smoked in four games,
00:29like, you don't even belong on the ice with the same team,
00:32or if it's Florida again or something like that,
00:34like, that would really sting.
00:35Yeah, or, like, even if you're second round
00:38and you lose to Toronto,
00:39that might change how you feel about it.
00:40You're not supposed to lose to Toronto.
00:41Nobody loses to Toronto, so, right.
00:42Yeah, who you play, all that stuff, how you play.
00:45But just generically looking at it,
00:47you think they need to win a round
00:48and be back where they were a year ago.
00:48Yeah, because I don't look at this team,
00:50like, I look at them similar to the last year
00:52where it's a playoff team,
00:54but it's not a true Stanley Cup team.
00:57And I know funny things can happen
00:59in the hockey playoffs,
01:00although maybe not as funny as the baseball playoffs,
01:02but, you know, anything goes,
01:03you get hot and you kind of get going.
01:05But I think, realistically, it's one, a playoff team,
01:08and then, you know, win that first series.
01:10And then I think you feel pretty good
01:11about the direction of the team.
01:12So I would say, get out of your division.
01:15You know, Eastern Conference Final, Final Four,
01:18that to me would be a unquestioned success.
01:21Because you're right, winning a round,
01:23there's probably a gray area there.
01:24Maybe we get to the end of the year
01:25and we feel pretty good about it.
01:27But, generically, I want to see them go further
01:31than they went last year.
01:32And Swayman's a big part of that too.
01:34Like, how he plays individually
01:37is a big part of what makes the year a success.
01:39Now, look, if they go to the Final Four
01:40and Swayman's shaky or Corpus Allo, you know,
01:44somehow takes over the net,
01:46I'm not going to hold that against them and say,
01:47oh, they paid Swayman all this money,
01:48but they got to the Final Four.
01:49Like, that will be a successful year.
01:51It'll be bad for Swayman,
01:52but it'll be a successful year.
01:54I think that's how I'd feel about it.
01:55Play your way out of the division.
01:56You know, assuming you're not a wild card team
01:58going on a run, play your way out of the Atlantic,
02:00which means you're beating,
02:01say, the Floridas and Torontos of the world.
02:04And then you're into the Final Four and let's go.
02:06Like, I would feel pretty good about that
02:08as a bar for this team.
02:09And by the way,
02:10the way they invested in the team this year,
02:13Lindholm, Zdorov, paying Swayman.
02:16You've already paid McAvoy and Pasternak.
02:20I mean, you should be that kind of team.
02:22You have a Vezna finalist type of player.
02:26He was seventh last year in the Vezna voting.
02:28So you have a high caliber goaltender.
02:31You have a guy who's gotten hard votes before in Pasternak.
02:35You still have Marchand.
02:37You signed Lindholm.
02:38You added Zdorov.
02:39McAvoy's gotten Norris votes in the past.
02:41Like, you have a lot on this roster.
02:44I don't think it's unreasonable to say Final Four,
02:48Eastern Conference Final, get out of the Atlantic.
02:50Stanley Cup feels like a high bar.
02:52I'm not going to hold them to that line,
02:54but get to the Final Four.
02:56I think that's a good, reasonable goal
02:58for a successful year.
