00:00Florida is well-known for its popular attractions like Disney World, cruise ships, Miami Beach,
00:12retirees from New York, and both Donalds, Donald Duck and Donald Trump.
00:17But Florida also has a number of hidden gems worth exploring.
00:21This video will look at 10 lesser-known but uniquely remarkable places to visit in Florida.
00:26Some of these places you won't even believe are in the state of Florida.
00:30There are museums, natural parks, caves, and islands.
00:34All are worth checking out if you want to explore the state from a much less touristy
00:38perspective.
00:39Number 10 is in a well-known city, but may not be as well-known within that city.
00:44The Salvador Dali Museum is in St. Petersburg, Florida.
00:47St. Petersburg, in the Tampa area, is home to an interactive museum that will wow art
00:52lovers, Dali fans, or even people who just want a unique museum experience.
00:57Salvador Dali is one of Spain's most famous contemporary artists.
01:01Dali went to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, where he experimented
01:07with various artistic styles and became influenced by Impressionism, Cubism, and other avant-garde
01:13movements.
01:14So why is this museum in Florida?
01:16Despite a large Spanish-speaking population, Dali had no connection to St. Petersburg.
01:21The Dali Museum exists due to the efforts and vision of A. Reynolds and Eleanor R. Morse,
01:27who were avid collectors.
01:28They were looking for a permanent home for the work, and the community leaders in St.
01:32Petersburg made an offer.
01:34The museum relies a lot on AI to make the experience unique.
01:38You can spend time in a virtual reality world of Dali's paintings, which is a highlight
01:42for many people.
01:43Many of the paintings have a QR code that you can scan, and through your phone, you
01:47can watch the painting come alive.
01:49There is a lobster phone, which Dali fans will understand, where you can ask Dali questions,
01:54and thanks to AI, the voice of Dali will answer.
01:57This is also a surrealist experience where you can describe one of your dreams, and a
02:02huge painting is generated on the wall to present your dream as a Dali-style painting.
02:07Number 9 is Florida Caverns State Park.
02:10It is located in Mariana, which is in the Panhandle just across the border from Alabama.
02:14It's about an hour west of Tallahassee and is home to a unique state park.
02:19Unlike most of Florida's famously flat terrain, this park features a series of underground
02:24caves complete with stalactites and stalagmites, which will give you flashbacks to middle school
02:29earth science.
02:30In case you forgot, stalactites grow down from the cave ceiling, while stalagmites grow
02:36up from the cave floor.
02:37They were formed over thousands of years to create the cave's main attraction.
02:42Above ground, the park also has plenty of recreational activities, including hiking,
02:46horseback riding, and kayaking on the Chipola River.
02:49But the real attraction is underground.
02:52Parts of the cave are so beautiful that some people even choose to get married there.
02:57Various lights make the cave even more unique, as you can see a kaleidoscope of geographical
03:02wonders.
03:03Number 8 is Apalachicola, Florida.
03:05The small, friendly port town of Apalachicola, with a population of just 2,300 people, located
03:11just 90 minutes southwest of Tallahassee on Florida's northwest coast, is a treasure
03:16trove of history and historic buildings, maritime culture, fishing, and outdoor recreation.
03:22One of Apalachicola's most notable features is its thriving oyster industry.
03:27While Oyster Bay, New York gets the name, Apalachicola gives it a run for its money
03:31and even earned the title of Oyster Capital of the World.
03:35Fresh local seafood is a highlight there, with numerous eateries offering oysters, shrimp,
03:40and freshly caught fish from local waters.
03:42The town's working waterfront and active fleet of fishing boats are reminiscent of
03:46its ongoing connection to the sea.
03:49Nature lovers won't be disappointed either.
03:51Explore the nearby Apalachicola National Forest and the St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge,
03:57both of which offer opportunities for hiking, bird watching, and experiencing Florida's
04:02unique and diverse ecosystems.
04:05Florida's blend of history, natural beauty, and small-town charm makes it a delightful
04:10destination for those looking to experience the authentic coastal Florida lifestyle.
04:15This is often considered one of Florida's untouched wonders.
04:19Number 7 is Big Shoals State Park, located near White Springs.
04:23Few people associate Florida with whitewater rafting, but Big Shoals will give you a taste
04:27of the Rockies without the altitude.
04:30Located just below the Georgia State Line, about halfway between Tallahassee and Jacksonville,
04:35it's a park that doesn't feel like you're in Florida.
04:38The park's centerpiece and main point of interest is, of course, the Big Shoals Rapids,
04:42which have Class III whitewater conditions.
04:45This is perfect for experienced paddlers seeking an adventure.
04:48For those looking for a more leisurely experience, the park also offers peaceful spots for picnicking,
04:54fishing, and simply enjoying the tranquility of the natural surroundings.
04:58Spanning over 4,000 acres along the Suwannee River, the park also has dramatic limestone
05:03bluffs and dense hardwood forests.
05:06While there, you can hike or bike along the 28 miles of trails that wind through the park,
05:11providing excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
05:15So get your selfie sticks ready for this trip!
05:18Number 6 is Blowing Rock Preserve, located on Jupiter Island in South Florida, on the
05:23Atlantic coast just north of West Palm Beach.
05:26This beautiful preserve is famous for its dramatic Anastasia limestone formations.
05:31In fact, it's the largest on the Atlantic coast.
05:33It looks more like the coast of New England than South Florida.
05:36The rocks create spectacular natural blowholes, particularly during high tide, when waves
05:42crash into the rocky shoreline, forcing plumes of seawater up to 50 feet into the air.
05:48The preserve's pristine beach and coastal dunes are home to a variety of native flora
05:53and fauna, including endangered sea turtles that nest along the shore.
05:57March 1st through October 31st is the sea turtle season, so be sure to come during this
06:02season to watch all the babies running towards the ocean at night.
06:05Blowing Rocks Preserve also features trails and boardwalks that allow visitors to explore
06:10its diverse habitats, from coastal hammocks to mangrove wetlands.
06:14This protected area not only offers a glimpse into Florida's natural coastal beauty, but
06:19also serves as an important site for conservation and environmental education.
06:24Did we mention the adorable sea turtles?
06:26Number 5 is the Murakami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida
06:31Delray Beach is on the Atlantic coast in southern Florida, just north of Fort Lauderdale.
06:36This is a true hidden gem.
06:38While many Americans have become obsessed with anime and all things Japanese, this is
06:42definitely a place to experience a more traditional side of Japan.
06:46It has a serene vibe with six different gardens, each designed in an authentic Japanese style.
06:51You can wander around the lush landscapes, walk across quaint and charming bridges, and
06:56even find some koi ponds along the way.
06:59The museum itself has cool exhibits that dive into Japanese culture, art, and history.
07:04Plus, they offer fun activities like tea ceremonies and calligraphy workshops.
07:09It's the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of modern technology, where you can
07:13just soak in the beauty and tranquility of Japanese traditions.
07:17There are also rotating exhibits all featuring different aspects of Japanese culture, such
07:21as the Avatars of the Samurai Spirit Exhibit and the Bamboo Lights Exhibit.
07:26And of course, year-round, be sure to check out the Bonsai Tree Exhibit.
07:30Bonsai is the Japanese art of growing and shaping miniature trees.
07:34They are definitely one of the most iconic trees in the museum.
07:38Number 4 is Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring in Williston, Florida
07:42Williston is a small central Florida town of 3,000 people, just south of Gainesville.
07:47Devil's Den really feels like stepping into another world.

08:35However, this is a training center, so you can train to scuba dive in some of the clearest
08:39waters in the state, with no worry about a shark attack.
08:42You can rent cabins or park your RV, so don't just come for the day.
08:47Stay a while and enjoy exploring the ancient spring.
08:503.
08:51Weekee Wachee Springs State Park Located north of Tampa near the Gulf Coast,
