00:00The Philippine Navy has already started training with the other 5 countries for the SAMA-SAMA Exercise 2024
00:07that will be held in Subic, Zampales.
00:09Patrick De Jesus will talk about the training, maritime security, and capability for the details.
00:20Compared to the previous years,
00:22the SAMA-SAMA Exercise 2024 will be bigger and wider
00:28between the Philippine Navy and the U.S. Navy
00:31along with the other countries that participated in the maritime security and capability.
00:37The opening ceremony was held at the Naval Operating Base in Subic, Zampales.
00:43There are 6 countries participating in the SAMA-SAMA Exercise 2024
00:47including the Philippines, U.S., Japan, Canada, France, and Australia.
00:52The United Kingdom will serve as the observer.
00:55The ships of the neighboring countries will have a joint group sale.
01:02The group sale will be held in the northern part of Luzon
01:06and the various aerial assets will also be used.
01:10This will not exceed the 12 nautical miles territorial sea of the Philippines.
01:15For the Philippines, we're going to use our brigades.
01:21We have other patrol vessels to participate in this exercise.
01:30And then, of course, we have the smaller ones.
01:34There are a lot of skills that we want to develop.
01:38The two-week exercise is focused on strengthening interoperability
01:44and it does not target one country amid geopolitical tensions in the region.
01:51The focus here is on interoperability.
01:54Building partner capacity and interoperability for security in the region.
02:00The intent of this exercise is not to ruffle feathers.
02:04It's tailored for interoperability.
02:07This is really about honing our skills.
02:10This has been going for decades already.
02:12So this is not new and it's not intended for any other purpose.
02:18The activities will be done first under the harbor phase of the joint exercise,
02:24followed by the sea phase, where the group sale and other naval drills will be held.
02:31There will also be deployment from the U.S. Marine Rotational Force Southeast Asia
02:36for the joint exercise, which will also be held in the next week.
02:43For now, with the Philippine Air Force,
02:46the U.S. Marines are helping with their KC-130J aircraft
02:52in bringing relief assistance to the cities affected by the Super Typhoon Julian.
02:58What we've done is we've moved about 90,000 pounds to Loag Airport,
03:04which is up in northern Luzon.
03:06It will be staged there and then loaded onto MV-22 Osprey helicopters,
03:11tilt-rotor platforms from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
03:16They're coming off of the USS Boxer.
03:18The USS Boxer is en route.
03:20From Subig, Zambales, Patrick de Azuz for Pabansang TV in Bagog, Philippines.
