00:00Let's take a look at what happened after the Wushu Championships in Baguio City.
00:06That's Ula and Paolo. Thank you.
00:10More than 200 Wushu artists showed up at the 3-day event of the Baguio Charter Day Wushu Championships this weekend at Lukban Elementary School in Baguio City.
00:20Some of the athletes who came here were first-timers and some were medalists of various local tournaments.
00:27The event is said to be a base for the Baguio team to decide who they will send to the 2024 Batang Pinoy in Palawan in November.
00:38This is one of the programs of Wushu to select grassroots.
00:45This is where we filter who will go to the Batang Pinoy.
00:51It's nice to play here. It's tiring.
00:56Some aspiring national athletes, Nazarian Basa and Tlicia Devera, shared their excitement for the chance to play in the Batang Pinoy this November.
01:06It's for the experience. It's for me to know how to play with the team so that I can prepare for the next competitions.
01:16My goal is to get the first place which is gold.
01:21My experience that I want to experience here is to have a scholarship.
01:30The 2005 Southeast Asian Games' Wushu gold medalist and tournament manager of the competition, Rhea Parayaw, was the winner of the event.
01:40So far, it was successful because we didn't have any injuries. We didn't have any casualties.
01:47At the same time, we are enjoying our youth because we saw a lot of participants.
01:54Just like other national sports associations in the country, this kind of competition is part of the grassroots program of the Philippine Wushu team
02:03to continue the discovery of new talents where it will also provide an opportunity for those who want to use the sport as a way out of their difficulties.
02:14From Baguio City, Paolo Salamatina for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
