00:03Hotel chain Premier Inns has unveiled a plan to extend one of its sites in Chesterfield.
00:08The company has applied to Chesterfield Borough Council for full planning permission to build a 21 bedroom extension to its premises at Tapton Lock Hill.
00:17A covering letter to the local authority states,
00:19Whitbread has identified a considerable demand for additional accommodation at its Premier Inn Chesterfield North Hotel.
00:27This proposal seeks to extend the existing hotel premises to provide additional bedrooms.
00:32The extension would provide a further 21 bedrooms across three floors and would be designed to replicate the appearance of the existing premises.
00:39The total capacity would therefore increase to 109 hotel bedrooms.
00:46A Victorian mansion in Chesterfield is still on the market after failing to sell at auction.
00:51Hearst House on Abercrombie Street is a Grade II listed building and dates from the 1840s when it was built as a private residence.
00:59The property was offered for auction in September with a guide price of £375,000 exclusive of fees.
01:07Chrissie Watterson, who is Head of Marketing at SDL Property Auctions said,
01:11We are continuing to market the property with the aim of securing a post-auction sale. We have not had seller instructions to relist this in another auction.
01:20The house was occupied by Chesterfield's Grammar School from 1928 until 1967 and adult classes were held there for half a century,
01:29organised by the Chesterfield Branch of the Workers' Education Authority and Sheffield University Extramural Department.
01:36SDL Property Auctions are marketing Hearst House on behalf of Derbyshire County Council.
01:41The auction house said,
01:43In our opinion, the property has significant scope for a varied range of uses including serviced offices,
01:49a nursery or residential conversion to apartments subject to obtaining the necessary planning permissions.
