00:03Derbyshire Police is getting tougher on e-scooters by launching a new seize first approach after it
00:08received hundreds of reports about the vehicles. The force is now seizing e-scooters immediately
00:14off the streets if they are seen in a public place by officers. The new approach from the
00:18force began on November 1st and yesterday, more than a week into the new approach, the force said
00:24that it had already seized 10 vehicles. At the start of 2024 the force sees an average of 13
00:30e-scooters a month. Statistics show that in the last two years 509 calls have been received by
00:36Derbyshire Police relating to anti-social behavior involving e-scooters as well as 441 reports of
00:42them being ridden dangerously. E-scooter safety campaigner Sarah Gaten has welcomed Derbyshire
00:48Police's new stance but has warned the force not to take its foot off the pedal in clamping down
00:53on riders and to publish data regularly to show if the new approach is working or not.
00:58Derbyshire Police says that the collapse of Derby City Council's e-scooter trial scheme at the start
01:03of the year, which made some e-scooters legal to ride, now means that any e-scooter being ridden
01:08in the county on public roads is being done so illegally. Eagle-eyed TV viewers are urged to
01:16keep a close watch for Derbyshire's Haddon Hall in the new Wolf Hall series which launched at the
01:21weekend. Nine months after speculations that scenes were being shot at the medieval manor house
01:26a post has appeared on the Stately Home social media page. The comment reads,
01:31Wolf Hall, the Mirror and the Light, which filmed several scenes at Haddon earlier this year,
01:34airs on BBC One. If you watch it and spot Haddon, let us know. Wolf Hall, the Mirror and the Light
01:41stars Damian Lewis as Henry VIII and Mark Rylance as Cromwell. Set in 1536, the series focuses on
01:48Cromwell's continued climb to power and wealth while the king settles with his third queen, Jane
01:52Seymour, who is played by Kate Phillips. The six-part series, Wolf Hall, the Mirror and the Light,
01:58continues its run on BBC One on Sundays at 9pm. All episodes are available to watch on the BBC
02:04iPlayer and the timing couldn't be better for Haddon Hall, which launches its popular Mercatum
02:09Christmas artisan market tomorrow.
