Leeds Knights assistant coach Davey Lawrence discusses the call-up of 16-year-old Edgars Vengis to the Knights' NIHL National team
Transcript
00:00But he's come a long way, I mean he turned 16 two Thursdays ago so he's played last weekend with us and this weekend but he's been practising with us most of the year and he's done quite a bit with Knights as well.
00:11What is he like as a player, what makes him stand out I suppose?
00:15It's just his roles and responsibilities, he's not somebody who's going to tear the league up in terms of goals but he plays the right way, he plays the right areas and he's a responsible player in terms of his defensive zone structure and things like that.
00:27As a centre he's quite good in terms of face-offs and again he's only 16 so to get him that exposure this quick is good for him, it's good for us, it's good for us as a club and it's good for the other lads too because they can kind of see that actually that pathway is not a myth, it's there and if you work hard enough and you want to put the legs in you can do it.
