Leeds Knights' head coach Ryan Aldridge discusses retaining NIHL National league title
Transcript
00:00 Second year running now League champions, doing it on home ice in front of a packed
00:12 Helen Road must have been pretty special.
00:15 Yeah, I think I'm most disappointed with the last last night, but looking back on it I'm
00:20 almost glad we did. It's nice to do it in front of our own fans, our own families. It
00:25 was a pretty special time. We've got to do it twice, it's pretty special with the youngest
00:32 group in it. We've won two years in a row, so it's a great day.
00:38 How difficult has it been this season compared to last? You kept a good core of last year's
00:44 team, but you had to replace certain elements. People thought, well, we'll change this, we'll
00:48 change that, but you've managed to go and do that. How tough was that as a group?
00:54 Yes, I think we just found a different way to play. We found a way to win every night.
01:00 We've got a team that shows up when it suits our situations. I think over the course of
01:09 the season they obviously improved that, but they are good to pick on every night. Sometimes
01:17 we have to drag out, but they found a way to respond on time.
01:21 We've faced a few obstacles throughout the season, but we've always found a way of bouncing
01:26 back. It's that consistent run of form, those ten-game winning streaks, eight-game winning
01:30 streaks, that seem to make you different from other teams.
01:34 Yes, but until last night I think it was 11 or 12. I think with this team, maybe it's
01:40 the youngest group, or the bond they have, the more adversity we have to face, the better
01:45 we can come. We've faced a few things last year, a couple of times this year, and they
01:51 pulled together and found a way to win.
