00:27Ferdinand R. Marcus jr. Visited Ilocos Norte to assess the situation following the devastation caused by typhoon Julian

00:35The president inspected the Gabu Dyke in Barangay Gabu Norte, Lawag City

00:39It collapsed due to the severe pounding of water caused by the rains brought by the typhoon

00:44This cost more than 200 meters of the 400 meter long dyke to give away

00:49Thus the president instructed the DPWH to immediately repair it

01:25During the situational briefing the president asked how the flood control infrastructure like the Gabu Dyke collapsed

01:31Considering this never happened since its construction

01:49The president also noticed the wide extent of siltation in the province when he conducted an aerial inspection earlier

01:56He said this issue needs to be addressed immediately to prevent certain environmental problems
