Joe Buck previews Newcastle United's Carabao Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon at St James' Park
Transcript
00:00So Onigasanite's Carabao Cup journey continues at St James' Park with a hastily rearranged
00:05game against the SC Wimbledon. Of course, the two sides were meant to meet at the Cherry
00:09Reds' Record Stadium last week but obviously Wimbledon's pitch got flooded and we've all
00:14seen the images online. So yes, this game was moved to St James' Park at a week's notice
00:19but it's a setting where Onigasanite obviously had great success in recent times, especially
00:25with that draw against Man City at the weekend. They'll be heading here full of confidence
00:28that they can dispatch of their League Two opposition tonight. Of course, Wimbledon certainly
00:33no mugs, they beat Ipswich Town in the last round, Premier League opposition of course,
00:36and they started really well in League Two. So Eddie Howe's side will be wary of that
00:41and Howe spoke about that yesterday about how his side need to be wary of the threats
00:44posed by Johnny Jackson's side but of course Onigasanite are heavy favourites in this game
00:49and know that a win would give them a home tie against Chelsea in the next round and
00:53again put them within 90 minutes of another quarterfinal appearance. What team, how will
00:58the game is obviously a little bit unsure at this point. Alexander Isak won't feature,
01:01he's still out with a broken toe. But we expect rotation, Will Osula might get his first competitive
01:07start for the club and yes, there could be a lot of rotation but even so, even with a
01:12rotated team, Howe said he'll play a strong team and there's no doubt he'll play that.
01:16He'll play a team that's certainly capable of winning. We've heard it all the time, just
01:20because a team on paper is capable of winning a game doesn't mean they have any divine right
01:24to. Onigasanite hope to avoid a giant killings where, you don't want to talk about too much
01:28but Onigasanite under Howe have had a couple of giant killings, of course in Cambridge
01:32in one of his first games and obviously Sheffield Wednesday a year later in the FA Cup. So we're
01:36hoping to avoid that here tonight. There will be heavy favourites in the game and it's a
01:40game we expect them to win. Obviously they had a good result and good performance against
01:44Manchester City, that was something they'd been missing at the early end of the season
01:46so it's a very positive Saturday and we hope to capitalise on that tonight against Wimbledon.
