00:00We've worked really, really hard to get to where we are today and this piece of sacred
00:22land has been gifted to us and we're very honoured to be here.
00:26Look, I think the work that we've been doing is going to change maternity services for
00:33this country and we always say that what works for our people will work for everybody.
00:39We've done the hard work and it's just incredible to think about the women that will be birthing
00:46here and how they'll be birthing and who they'll be birthing with.
00:49Yeah, look, we've got women who are saying they're waiting and going to have their baby
00:53when the birth centre is built and they're just so excited.
00:57And not only the women and the mums who are going to be birthing here, but our aunties
01:02and our grandmothers.
01:03And when you hear from them, they say, I can't believe I'm going to see this within my lifetime.
01:07So when you have a combination of that and our younger women coming through, feeling
01:13safe and being able to have a say in self-determination and actually experience birth, what it is
01:19meant to be, and how we've always done it pre-colonisation, being able to have that
01:26sacred birthing ceremony and not have it as a medical treatment or a procedure.
