00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we are taking a look at every Rayman game and ranking them
00:12based on difficulty, creativity, and overall experience.
00:16Unfortunately, we will not be including his DLC outing in Mario Plus Rabbids Sparks of
00:21Hope because, well, you know, that was DLC.
00:25This is every Rayman game ranked.
00:33Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:38the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:42Number 14, Rayman Brain Games.
00:46Look, there were some genuinely decent edutainment games during the late 90s and early 2000s.
00:57The Jumpstart games are a good example of how the genre can work well, but Rayman Brain
01:02Games was not one of them.
01:09While the presentation and visuals match the style of the original Rayman, the game never
01:14truly evolves beyond listening to numbers and words to identify correct paths.
01:19There are some basic platforming challenges between the problem solving, but any child
01:23is going to get bored of this game.
01:25It is already hard enough to incorporate learning with video games and keep it fun, it's worse
01:30when the attempt is this half-hearted.
01:37Number 13, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party.
01:48As a video game, TV Party is not an awful game.
01:52The minigames can be pretty funny even if their gameplay is more simplistic than most
01:56may want.
01:57However, this was the point where Ubisoft seemed to be slowly pushing Rayman out the
02:01door.
02:08The frequency of new games with these maniacal bunnies was quickly getting out of hand, and
02:12our boy isn't even on the front cover of the game.
02:15This is called Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party.
02:19Where's Rayman?
02:21There is a campaign with him as the main character, just as the previous Raving Rabbids games,
02:26but overall, TV Party was more a red flag than anything else.
02:37Number 12, Rayman 2 Forever.
02:46Making a Game Boy Color version of Rayman 2 should have been so simple.
02:50Simply turn the 3D platformer into a 2D platformer.
02:54While it does do that, and it translates the story just fine, the gameplay is severely
02:59lacking.
03:00We're completely fine with it playing a little bit like the original Rayman game,
03:03but it doesn't boast any of the imagination displayed in either games.
03:14The environments are bland, there are barely any hazards on screen to put pressure on the
03:18player, and the music can be ear-piercing.
03:21There's really no need for anyone to play this over the console versions of Rayman 2.
03:25There just isn't.
03:32Number 11, Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge.
03:42If there was one word we could use to describe Hoodlum's Revenge, it would be serviceable.
03:47It isn't horrendous by any stretch of the imagination, but it's just not all that
03:51special.
03:52It's a 3D platformer in the way GBAs could only replicate it compared to its home console
03:57brethren.
03:58However, what kills it is the camera and the HUD.
04:06You can easily miscalculate a jump and wind up taking damage or even dying.
04:11It can turn the experience annoying rather quickly, and it's enough for us to want
04:15to pop in any other game after more than a few minutes.
04:24Number 10, Rayman Rush.
04:35We know that this is a demake of Rayman Arena, but it's worth including as a separate entry
04:39due to its botched quality.
04:41Half of the PS2 iteration is missing to accommodate the PS1's limitations, and the roster goes
04:46from 18 to 8 playable characters.
04:55And what the hell, we only get racing?
04:58If that was your only favorite portion of the original iterations, maybe you were fine
05:02with Rush, but there really wasn't much reason to get this title if you already had
05:06the other.
05:12Number 9, Rayman M, aka Rayman Arena.
05:25This is the game that Rush was demade from, and it was far superior in every way.
05:30Whether you played the PS2, Rayman M, or the GameCube and Xbox version known as Rayman
05:35Arena, you got roughly the same experience with minor differences.
05:39Choose from a handful of characters from across the franchise, some even being new characters
05:44like Dark Globox.
05:52Why Tilly is here when Lee could've had a spot is beyond us, but regardless, the music,
05:58level design, and general arcadey vibe made this a fun title to play with friends.
06:03There may not be as much content as other multiplayer party titles like Smash Bros.
06:07or Mario Kart, but for what it was, it was a decent game.
06:17Number 8, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.
06:27If we were looking at the Rabbids game specifically, we would put this pretty high up on the list.
06:32Alas, this is a list of Rayman games, meaning Rayman takes precedent, which this title forgot
06:38to do.
06:39While you could play as our hero across a variety of minigames, his presence was shoved
06:43aside.
06:46Yes, there were shooter segments like in the previous game, but it only earned you new
06:54costumes, mostly for the Rabbids.
06:56Credit where it's due, it was cool to see how Ubisoft took real footage of various locations
07:01around the world and used it to impose enemies as if they were really running around in the
07:05environment, and the minigames were just as hilarious as its predecessors.
07:16Number 7, Rayman 3 for the Game Boy Advance.
07:25Of the handheld Rayman games, this was the better one.
07:28We'll be the first to admit that, on the surface, it almost looks like a boop-legged
07:32game.
07:33Really, the visuals seem off here, but that doesn't detract from the gameplay.
07:37It plays a lot like the original Rayman from 1995 on PS1.
07:48What makes it exceptional compared to the previous handheld entries is the visual clarity
07:52and significantly improved audio.
07:54It still isn't as good as the home console games, but when compared to something like
07:58Rayman 2 Forever or Hoodlum's Revenge, this is a massive step up.
08:08Number 6, Rayman Raving Rabbids.
08:17Some fans will quickly trash and dismiss the first Raving Rabbids since this was the start
08:22of its fade into obscurity and the start of the disrespect, but to be honest, it's
08:26still fun on its own merits.
08:28The minigames, while super simplistic, carry a lot of humor with bizarre ideas, but the
08:34real meat of the game is the shooter segment.
08:43These segments offer a nice break between sets of minigames to let you enjoy some classic
08:47arcade shooter fun.
08:49It's like House of the Dead, but for kids, and it's loaded with plungers.
08:53It may get stale during extensive playtime, but the diehard Rayman fanatics ought to give
08:58the game its flowers for what it does do right.
09:06Number 5, Rayman.
09:15The very first Rayman game is going to be hit or miss for some players.
09:18From the imaginative worlds to the clever level design, Rayman hides plenty of secrets
09:23and challenges for players to discover.
09:25You might even get carried away toying with some of the enemies.
09:32However, we can admit that some of the mechanics and backtracking to free all of the electoons
09:41might be obtuse for those less experienced.
09:43It's easy to tell part of it was designed to combat rental store customers from blasting
09:48through the game.
09:49Just wait until you get to Band Land.
09:50That place sucks, but the rest of the game, chef's kiss.
10:01Number 4, Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc.
10:11Hoodlum Havoc is a bit of an odd entry compared to the other Rayman games.
10:16Half of it feels like it wants to be a sequel to Rayman 2, while the other half feels like
10:20it wants to deviate from its predecessor.
10:23While you do have your run of the mill 3D platforming, you now have to consider how
10:27to grab collectibles and defeat enemies in quick succession to build up your score.
10:37Then you have a handful of powerups that can change how you approach combat and exploration.
10:42Mix all this in with full-on voice acting by performers like Billy West and John Leguizamo,
10:47and what you have is a game that is an acquired taste.
10:51It may not click at first, but stick with it for a little bit and you will find something
10:56truly special here, despite how weird it can get.
11:05Number 3, Rayman Origins.
11:13Origins gave us a little bit of hope for our favorite thingamajig.
11:17With the Rabbids splitting off into their own franchise, Origins showed that Rayman
11:22could live on with his own identity and without the need for bunny ears and plungers.
11:27This was a return to the roots of classic Rayman gameplay, 2D platforming with fantastical
11:32environments and making fools out of hunters capturing creatures.
11:41With a beautiful art style and equally magnificent score, Origins was outdoing many other platformers
11:46at the time in terms of level design, mechanics, and atmosphere.
11:55Number 2, Rayman 2 The Great Escaper.
12:03This game has been ported, remastered, HD'd, and even 3D'd like crazy.
12:09Playing any version will show you why this is such a massive favorite among Rayman fans.
12:13There's the epic story where Rayman and company work together to bring down Razorbeard
12:18and his robot pirates, you visit wondrous landmarks and realms like the Fairy Glades
12:23and the Cave of Bad Dreams, and there are plenty of fun gimmicks like flying, berry
12:27bouncing, and rocket riding to test your platforming skills.
12:31The first game was already pretty great, but Ubisoft truly kicked the door down with this
12:36one.
12:42Number 1, Rayman Legends.
12:51If Ubisoft ever decides to truly bring Rayman back for a new game, it is going to be really,
12:58really hard for it to top Legends.
13:00In addition to character and environmental details more beautiful than its predecessor,
13:05Legends came with a ton of creative ideas for levels.
13:13From a world of giant luchadors destroying the place, to a castle collapsing to the beat
13:18of Black Betty, this was a game that was all about having fun, and as a bonus, we got a
13:23significant chunk of Origins remade with Legends visuals and a plethora of costumes for Rayman
13:29and friends to wear.
13:30It was an incredible, imaginative, brilliant package that still has fans playing and replaying
13:36today.
13:42But which Rayman game do you think is your favorite?
