00:00I don't watch much television. I have an incredibly busy life.
00:04Yeah, I'm very busy too.
00:08Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the SNL hosts who've left an indelible mark on Studio 8H.
00:15Our only rule? The host can't have been a cast member at one point.
00:20You feeling what I'm feeling?
00:22If it's resignation, then yes.
00:2630. Pedro Pascal
00:29Early in my career, I played small parts in every crime show.
00:33I even played two different characters on Law & Order.
00:36Tito Cabasa, who looked like this.
00:41In a series of events that surprised absolutely no one,
00:44the Internet's daddy, or multiple Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal that is,
00:48went above and beyond for his SNL hosting gig.
00:51The Game of Thrones and Mandalorian star was riding high on the wave of his breakout leading role in The Last of Us,
00:57and very easily could have phoned it in for the sketch show.
01:09This most definitely was not the case in real life.
01:12Pascal brought his real-life charm and screen presence to SNL and turned it up to 11.
01:17Even stealing the show and making multiple cameos on a later episode hosted by Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny.
01:23You want me to translate?
01:25Si.
01:27Yes.
01:3029. Peyton Manning
01:32She never made it to the NFL.
01:35Didn't have what it took.
01:37She got cut by the Dolphins, she tried in Canada for a bit.
01:41She's a real disappointment to all of us, but you know,
01:44still a great lady and we love her.
01:46Look, we're just going to come out and say it.
01:48Athletes hosting Saturday Night Live has historically been a very mixed bag.
01:52We're looking at you, Michael Phelps and Nancy Kerrigan.
01:54That said, widely beloved NFL quarterback Peyton Manning is thankfully the exception that proves the rule.
02:03Why is the door open? Close the door!
02:05Stay in there!
02:10Okay, I'm sorry. Do you want to lose?
02:12I throw, you catch. It's not that hard, okay?
02:15Although he's only hosted once, coincidentally on his 31st birthday in 2007,
02:20the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos superstar more than rose to the challenge
02:25and managed to do the impossible for a sports hero in his position,
02:28looking like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
02:31Case in point, the locker room sketch,
02:34in which Manning and cast member Will Forte show off their... the funkiest dance moves.
02:39Can you feel it? Pull it!
02:41I am feeling it, coach!
02:46Number 28. Elliot Gould.
02:49I just got in and this is a lucky.
02:52And does anybody know who won the Islander game?
02:55Oh, they were behind the Russians 2-1. I know it's over, but the island is where I'm coming from.
03:00Younger viewers may not remember it now,
03:02but there was a time when Elliot Gould and SNL went hand in hand.
03:06In fact, the Oscar nominee and former Barbra Streisand bow hosted six times between 1976 and 1980.
03:14And was the series' most frequent host at the time of his last go-round.
03:25Gould arguably set the standard for dramatic leading men like Pedro Pascal
03:29to branch out and explore their sillier side via SNL.
03:32Although Gould hasn't hosted in over 40 years,
03:35his reputation clearly precedes him,
03:38as he's continued to make SNL cameos here and there,
03:41particularly with regard to the Five Timers Club.
03:44The actor has helped to quote-unquote induct Tom Hanks and John Mulaney.
03:49More on those guys a little later.
03:51To call it Pearl Harbor.
03:58Number 27. Natasha Lyonne.
04:00So, things are going great and then knock-knock, who's there?
04:04Multiple arrest and drug addiction.
04:07In the words of the great musical outfit Chumbawamba,
04:10she gets knocked down, but she gets up again.
04:12The wickedly talented Lyonne addressed her tumultuous personal life during her SNL monologue
04:17and managed to mine an objectively dark period
04:20for one of the sketch show's most memorable five minutes.
04:35Lyonne noted that she'd been in SNL's orbit for years,
04:38even having dated cast member Fred Armisen for a time.
04:41And it shows!
04:42The first part, that is, not the Armisen part.
04:45Lyonne went on to show that her signature charm
04:47and that unmistakable voice were perfectly suited to the sketch show's stage.
04:51We recommend Mr. Dooley, an all-female Weekend at Bernie's remake, for proof of this.
05:09Yeah, well, he didn't even move.
05:11Number 26. Sofia Vergara.
05:14I came here all the way from a small town in Colombia called Barranquilla.
05:18Barranquilla is a Spanish word that means Cleveland.
05:22This animated Modern Family breakout star proved why that was the case when she hosted in 2012.
05:28Playing to her strengths, Vergara demonstrated that she was equally as fit for live comedy.
05:33This was especially clear in a Gilly sketch,
05:36in which the energetic Emmy nominee held her own against SNL legend Kristen Wiig's iconic troublemaker.
05:55This was in addition to a Being Quirky segment
05:57in which the former Gloria Delgado Pritchett pulled out her best friend Drescher impression.
06:02Also worth noting, Vergara's hosting venture was also Kate McKinnon's first episode,
06:07and her hilarious Penelope Cruz is a perfectly ridiculous sidekick to Vergara's all-in-turn as herself.
06:23Number 25. Sterling K. Brown.
06:33As you'll see with other performers further in on our list,
06:36we don't think anyone expected Brown to pull off hosting SNL with such aplomb.
06:41Looking back, it probably should have been obvious that the Emmy and Oscar nominee had it in him.
06:46Hosting in 2018 alongside musical guest James Bay,
06:49it's admittedly somewhat confounding that Brown hasn't been asked back to host again since.
06:55The This Is Us star had no issue taking center stage when he hosted,
06:59breathing life and believability into some deeply absurd sketches.
07:03Seriously, the sketch in which Brown's character preaches to his girlfriend's parents about Shrek?
07:08Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I was a little confused.
07:11I was like, wait, what?
07:13I'm not a fan of Shrek.
07:15I don't even know why I'm even listening to this.
07:17I don't know why I'm even listening to this.
07:19I don't even know why I'm even listening to this.
07:21I don't even know why I'm even listening to this.
07:24He's not Emmy nominated for nothing.
07:26Is that your favorite, Justin?
07:27No, Scott, I'm a liar.
07:31Yes, it is my favorite.
07:33It's also the best, that's just a fact.
07:35It's okay, Justin.
07:36It's not okay, it's annoying.
07:41Why do we have to say that black lives matter?
07:44Now, I admit that is not the best slogan,
07:47but McDonald's already took you deserve a break today.
07:51This legend of stand-up is no stranger to acting in sketch comedy,
07:55having hosted and co-created the institution of laughs that is Chappelle's show.
07:59The folks at SNL have called on Chappelle multiple times,
08:02specifically to host crucial post-election episodes in 2016, 2020, and 2022.
08:09Hey, what's your sign?
08:10Oh, I'm on the cusp.
08:12You see, my head poked out on a Tuesday,
08:14but I kept my little feet staying until Friday.
08:18While the latter episode was the subject of some backlash
08:21due to remarks made by Chappelle that some considered offensive,
08:24it goes without saying that whenever the Emmy winner hosts,
08:27it constitutes must-see TV.
08:30Look out specifically for sketches
08:31in which the comedian revives his Chappelle show characters.
08:34Unless, of course, you're a Walking Dead fan
08:37who's still sore over certain character deaths.
08:39I have a wife.
08:40What?
08:41I have a wife.
08:42What?
08:43I have a wife.
08:44Okay!
08:45Come on, now.
08:46All lives matter.
08:48All of us, right?
08:49Not if black lives don't.
09:00This famously quirky Oscar nominee
09:02was a better fit for the SNL stage than anyone could have predicted.
09:06His idiosyncratic, often explosive performance style
09:09lent itself particularly well to the eras in which he hosted.
09:13In particular, his December 6, 2008 appearance
09:16featured no shortage of totally absurd sketches
09:19that made pitch-perfect use of Malkovich's unique talents,
09:22such as a sketch in which Malkovich and Fred Armisen
09:25play oddball twins who are obsessed with the possibility
09:28of getting a new calculator for Christmas.
09:30Ma, Ma, did you get us a calculator?
09:34Are we getting a calculator?
09:36I'm not telling you. You have to wait.
09:39Glenn, guess what we're getting for Christmas.
09:42Above all, look to his characteristically intense monologue,
09:46which features a reading of
09:47"'Twas the Night Before Christmas Gone Terribly Awry,"
09:50or incredibly well, depending on how you look at it.
09:53Traveling at 650 miles per second
09:56would create such an enormous friction
09:59that Santa and his reindeer would burst into flames.
10:04You understand?
10:08And just in case you're wondering,
10:10I did not become aroused.
10:13Any time I felt like I might, I just looked at Colleen here
10:16and I told her to take care of it for me.
10:19It may not come as a total shock
10:21that this Canadian renaissance man fits right in on the SNL stage,
10:25having starred in his fair share of cinematic comedies.
10:28That said, Gosling manages to stand out
10:30as a result of his willingness to do pretty much anything.
10:33If I said that I was doing fine, you'd know I'd be lying
10:38because I was just kidding and now I'm just right.
10:43Oh, and also for the fact that he just cannot host with a straight face,
10:47which makes him an easy target for cast members like Kate McKinnon,
10:50specifically in the iconic Miss Rafferty alien abduction sketches.
10:54The multiple Oscar nominee has made such an outsized impact
10:57at the legendary sketch show
10:59that you might forget he's only hosted three times.
11:02I've heard rumblings
11:05that I look like someone from TV,
11:07but maybe it's this Beepers person, I don't know.
11:14There was a plaque on the gazebo
11:16and it said this gazebo was built by the town in 1863.
11:21That's in the middle of the Civil War
11:25and they built a gazebo.
11:28Yeah, we said no former cast members,
11:31but we never said anything about former writers.
11:34All jokes aside,
11:35Mulaney is not the first writer to return to host,
11:38but he's definitely the most accomplished.
11:40The Emmy-winning comedian reached the SNL five-timers club
11:43in just under four years,
11:45proving that maybe he should have been part of the cast all along.
11:48You've never worked for anything in your life.
11:51You got everything handed to you.
11:54The one thing you haven't been able to purchase
11:56is a personality and a soul.
12:00Mulaney has demonstrated that he's capable of doing it all,
12:03delivering gut-busting stand-up monologues
12:05and elaborate musical parodies,
12:07often in the span of a single episode.
12:09In fact, the SNL mainstay has often used his hosting gigs
12:13as a platform for sketches that he'd written
12:15during his time on the show,
12:16but never made it to air.
12:18And why would someone on a whim
12:20choose from all to order him?
12:22Who's this guy?
12:25Her hair has too many shrimps in it.
12:29I'm sorry, did you say shrimp?
12:32By her ears are shrimp.
12:34Paul Rudd is famous for being seemingly ageless,
12:37and his SNL appearances never get old either.
12:40The actor, known for playing Ant-Man
12:42and appearing in comedy classics like Clueless and Anchorman,
12:45is unsurprisingly great on the studio 6H stage.
12:48In his debut episode,
12:50Rudd proved himself as a host willing to commit to a sketch.
12:53Hey, Dwayne. This is my roommate, Kevin.
12:55Hey, nice to meet you.
12:56You actually hang out with this loser?
12:57Hey, come here.
12:59And since then, he's only gotten better.
13:01Rudd's everyman charisma and comic timing
13:03make him a natural in this setting.
13:05Even for his fifth time,
13:07filmed without an audience due to a coronavirus outbreak,
13:10he still delivered.
13:11And we have no doubt that Rudd has more great hosting gigs to come.
13:15I'm Santa! I make the rules!
13:20I mean, I'm not gonna change anything.
13:23I gotta stay with my strengths.
13:26Basically, singing and songwriting.
13:28We got another Paul.
13:30However, this one is better known for his music.
13:32Paul Simon has appeared on SNL as a musical guest multiple times.
13:36And four of those times, he's pulled double duty.
13:39It shouldn't come as a surprise
13:41that Simon is comfortable in front of a live audience.
13:43But he's such a natural at this,
13:45you might think he had another career as a comedian.
13:47I think you're thinking of Neil Simon, aren't you?
13:49The playwright, Neil Simon.
13:52And you're Paul Simon.
13:54Though he's known for writing some pretty serious songs,
13:57Simon adapts perfectly to the rhythms of any sketch he's in.
14:00It's been more than 30 years since Simon's last time hosting SNL,
14:04but we'd absolutely welcome a return from him.
14:06I am pretty deadly.
14:10I recall my childhood in rural Kansas.
14:13I was born to tears,
14:15till all of a sudden, a twister hit.
14:17It carried me to a magical land
14:20full of witches and wizards.
14:23Is that what you want? Is it?
14:25Betty White only hosted SNL once,
14:27but it was such an amazing effort, we have to include her.
14:30Hosting thanks in part to a successful social media campaign,
14:33the legendary actress and comedian
14:35showed just how much of an impact she could still make.
14:38When I first heard about the campaign
14:40to get me to host Saturday Night Live,
14:42I didn't know what Facebook was.
14:46And now that I do know what it is,
14:48I have to say, it sounds like a huge waste of time.
14:53Though White, then 88 years old,
14:55may have been the oldest host in SNL history,
14:58she had more energy than hosts half her age or more.
15:01And unsurprisingly, the rest of the cast,
15:03including multiple returning alums,
15:05are on their A-game as well.
15:07White won an Emmy for this episode
15:09and reminded us of an invaluable lesson.
15:12You're only as old as you feel.
15:14No, my muffin hasn't had a cherry since 1939.
15:19Number 17, Adam Driver
15:34Adam Driver has come to be recognized
15:36as one of the best actors of his generation,
15:38reaping countless awards and nominations
15:40with undoubtedly more to come.
15:42And his SNL hosting stints show just how much range he has.
15:46In all of his times as host,
15:48Driver's dedication to each and every sketch
15:50has been absolutely inspiring.
15:52A buddy of mine saw Kylo Ren take his shirt off in the shower
15:55and he said that Kylo Ren had an eight-pack,
15:57that Kylo Ren was shredded.
15:59Whether riffing on his role in Star Wars
16:01or playing a particularly unhinged career day speaker,
16:04Driver gives it his all from beginning to end.
16:07We almost wonder if there's any limit to his abilities.
16:10If there is, we have not seen it.
16:13And when your children asks,
16:15who killed this putrid king?
16:17No, no, no, no, no.
16:18Tell them it was I, Cameron Bissell,
16:22SAG-AFTRA eligible.
16:24Number 16, Dwayne Johnson
16:26You know, I want to remind you guys that
16:28in Webster's dictionary defines evil as profoundly immoral.
16:32We know what evil means.
16:34Well, it doesn't seem like you do,
16:36because you built a freeze ray.
16:37It wasn't just his muscles that made Dwayne Johnson
16:40such a star in the wrestling ring.
16:42The entertainer, once better known as The Rock,
16:44has presence that's all but unignorable.
16:47And his charisma translates seamlessly to SNL.
16:50I'm gonna rip this guy apart.
16:52And I mean psychologically.
16:54Though many sketches successfully mine comedy from his physicality,
16:58we also have to applaud his ability
17:00to immerse himself in a character no matter what.
17:03And his versatility means he can play an assortment of roles
17:06like the pro that he is.
17:07We can smell what The Rock is cooking whenever he's on SNL.
17:11And we always want more.
17:13Now it's time for them to pay.
17:17Dearly.
17:18Number 15, Richard Pryor
17:20The bed must be on the floor!
17:23The bed is on my foot!
17:26Richard Pryor made history as the first black SNL host.
17:29And his appearance was also the first episode aired with a tape delay
17:33due to the comedian's penchant for unpredictability.
17:36Hosting the show's seventh episode,
17:38Pryor's subversive and daring style helped SNL's image
17:41as anything but a typical variety show.
17:43One sketch in particular, co-starring Chevy Chase,
17:46is still considered one of the show's best ever.
17:57He only hosted a single time.
17:59But it was truly an event to remember.
18:02If you want to understand why so many comedians cite Pryor as an influence,
18:06just watch this episode.
18:09Number 14, Scarlett Johansson
18:11Did Candace find true love?
18:13Who knows? Who cares? Shut up!
18:15Paul Rudd isn't the only Avenger to make an impression on the SNL stage.
18:19Scarlett Johansson has hosted numerous times.
18:22And she always brings it.
18:24Though her movie roles are typically quite dramatic,
18:26Johansson is a sketch writer's dream.
18:29There's seemingly no role that's too broad for her to handle.
18:32And she gives even the most seasoned cast members a run for their money.
18:35Even after six hosting gigs, she keeps impressing us with her range.
18:48An incredibly accomplished performer going all the way back to her childhood,
18:52Johansson makes any episode of SNL a must-watch.
19:02Number 13, Jon Hamm
19:06Marty, it's getting heavy in here.
19:08Oh, yes. Oh, 1.21 gigawatts.
19:10By now, Jon Hamm's comedic chops are firmly established.
19:14But when we primarily knew him from Mad Men,
19:17we had no idea that he was capable of making us laugh this hard.
19:20Hosting the show three times between 2008 and 2010,
19:24he's shown just how far his talents go.
19:27He's even capable of holding down a sketch all by himself.
19:30And unlike other bathroom ham dispensers,
19:32Jon Hamm's Jon Hamm has only the finest boar's head oven-roasted ham.
19:37And while Don Draper might take himself very seriously,
19:40Hamm is totally game for all kinds of shenanigans.
19:44Whether wearing a tailored suit or dressing decidedly down,
19:47Jon Hamm's presence is sure to improve any sketch.
19:50Go through life like a cockroach in the dirt.
19:55You people make me sick.
19:57Number 12, Emma Stone
19:59My body's gonna feel nasty after I scarf this fat, mushy, stinky burger
20:06and wash it down with this frosty, dumbass beer.
20:10When Emma Stone first hosted SNL in 2010,
20:13she was still something of a rising star.
20:15And her debut episode only made that star shine even brighter.
20:18The future Oscar winner was immediately a natural fit for this comedic institution.
20:23And every subsequent hosting gig has shown her honing her talents further.
20:27She's able to make us crack up with just a single perfect expression
20:30or hilariously delivered line.
20:32It's also readily apparent just how invested she is in every sketch she's in.
20:36Watch any episode of SNL hosted by Stone,
20:39and you will see why she's become such a beloved talent.
20:42Wake up Santa, get out of my bed.
20:45It's time to deliver those presents.
20:48Number 11, Danny DeVito
20:50Then it hit me. That's it.
20:53Oh, beautiful for spacious skies.
20:56I look down, sure enough, there's amber waves of gray.
21:01Danny DeVito certainly didn't need to host SNL to be recognized as a comedic genius,
21:05but we're sure glad he did anyway.
21:07He's hosted five times, six if you count his co-hosting with spouse Rhea Perlman.
21:12Just like with his movie and sitcom roles,
21:14DeVito has an inimitable energy that can kick the quality of any sketch up several notches.
21:19Oh, man.
21:21This next page, I don't believe what I'm looking at.
21:24And he also gives his fellow performers plenty to work with.
21:28The last time DeVito hosted SNL was all the way back in 1999,
21:32and we can only hope his hosting days are not over just yet.
21:35Did it just get warmer in here again?
21:38Maybe.
21:39Number 10, Melissa McCarthy
21:41She was born, born, born to host my times.
21:46Born to host my times.
21:48Early in her career, this actress performed with famous Los Angeles sketch troupe, The Groundlings.
21:53So, obviously, Melissa McCarthy has the necessary improv chops to hang with SNL's best.
21:59She's played Sean Spicer to perfection with her sensational physical comedy,
22:03and the portrayal even led to a Primetime Emmy Award.
22:06Now, I'd like to begin today by apologizing on behalf of you to me.
22:14Meanwhile, her original characters showcase her comedic versatility and ability to go with the flow.
22:19Melissa is loud but charming,
22:21which makes her a dynamic, unforgettable host,
22:24one that SNL continues to call on for special appearances.
22:27This is my dad, and this is me over his dead body screaming,
22:33No!
22:35Number 9, Buck Henry
22:37Well, then take my ticket here.
22:39What? You really want to go?
22:42Well, both of you go, that's all right.
22:44In contrast to Melissa McCarthy's in-your-face style of comedy,
22:47this old-school icon takes a more subtle approach.
22:49Back in the late 70s, Buck Henry's dry humor was so captivating
22:53that he was asked to host the season finale four years in a row.
22:56And it is the 103rd time that I've hosted.
23:01Considering SNL's gallery of wacky characters,
23:03Henry is the perfect straight man for sketches about social outcasts.
23:07Some of his finest moments will creep you out in that hilariously awkward kind of way,
23:11while others display Buck's raw comedic talent.
23:15Either way, he is guaranteed to make you laugh.
23:18Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
23:21I love John Silver, I'm gonna search you farther than you can!
23:24Search me, search me, search me!
23:26Number 8, Candice Bergen
23:28Well, we'd like to show you another one of Mr. Mainway's products.
23:31It retails for $1.98, and it's called Bag of Glass.
23:36This model-turned-actress is known for her extensive film and television work.
23:40What you may not realize, however,
23:42is that Candice Bergen is the daughter of comedian Edgar Bergen,
23:45and she clearly shares his penchant for humor.
23:48It's safe for everything, even tarnished diamonds.
23:50With only one dunk,
23:54new tarnoff eats up tarnish, leaves your crown sparkling.
23:57Bergen set a high bar for all hosts on SNL,
24:00and she was also the first woman to host.
24:03In sketches, Candice plays it cool,
24:05and is able to match some of the series' most accomplished cast members beat for beat.
24:09Over the years, she's often returned,
24:11making her not just a memorable guest host,
24:13but one of the series' most influential and relatable hosts.
24:17And we think it's going to be,
24:19we think it's going to be
24:21a very exciting show,
24:23and we'll be back after this film episode.
24:26Number 7, Drew Barrymore
24:30Chili.
24:32Spaghetti.
24:35Alright, that is it.
24:36Speaking of relatable performers,
24:38this American actress has been in the public eye since childhood.
24:41Oh, and Drew Barrymore also comes from a Hollywood family.
24:44She makes it look easy on stage,
24:46and she's an old pro too,
24:48as she actually hosted in 1982,
24:50at only 7 years old.
24:58While Drew can hold her own with original characters,
25:00it's the celebrity impressions that stand out most.
25:03She may be America's sweetheart,
25:05but she will kill you with her kind demeanor,
25:07and her extraordinary knack for comedic timing.
25:17Number 6, Tom Hanks
25:28Everybody loves this American icon,
25:30so much so that he acknowledged himself as America's father
25:33during a 2016 monologue.
25:37The cover recently called me
25:39America's dad.
25:42And I would have preferred sexiest man alive,
25:45but I will take it.
25:47Long before Tom Hanks became an Oscar winner,
25:49he was a comedic veteran of the SNL stage.
25:52Like Drew Barrymore,
25:53he's got a gift for astute celebrity impressions,
25:55but he's also capable of stepping away from the script
25:58for bizarre zany characters.
26:00Remember, this is bosom buddies Buffy Wilson we're talking about.
26:03He puts the audience at ease,
26:05only to flip the script with his vast range of comedic quirks.
26:16Number 5, John Goodman
26:21Back in 1980,
26:22this extraordinary character failed to make the Saturday Night Live cut,
26:26but John Goodman nonetheless became a series legend.
26:29With his larger-than-life nature,
26:31he can play overbearing and aggressive characters,
26:34and he's also got the personality to channel his feminine side too.
26:37Remember Linda Tripp?
26:46And while Goodman's not afraid of going over the top,
26:48he can pull things back if he needs to,
26:50always playing off his fellow SNL performers.
26:53If Tom Hanks is America's dad,
26:55then John Goodman is America's hilarious uncle.
27:05Number 4, Justin Timberlake
27:12Some performers just have that special X-factor,
27:15and this superstar was one of those blessed individuals.
27:18While recent controversial revelations have tainted Justin Timberlake's reputation,
27:22there's no denying that an appearance by him in the past
27:25would bring some hip appeal to the SNL stage.
27:35The NSYNC member just knows how to keep people tuned in
27:38with his magnetic personality and triple threat skill set.
27:41He always seems one step ahead during sketches,
27:44leaving viewers curious if he'll stay on script or improvise.
27:51Plus, Justin also seems to be having the time of his life,
27:54resulting in several hilarious moments
27:56that keep Saturday Night Live in the headlines.
28:05That man right over there!
28:07Excuse me, that is absolutely not true.
28:09And that's the news. Stay tuned for Playhouse 90 with Lee J. Cobb. Thank you.
28:13Number 3, Christopher Walken
28:15I got a fever!
28:17And the only prescription is more cowbell.
28:20Christopher Walken brings a strange sense of effortless cool to SNL
28:24with his intellectual comedy and subdued technique.
28:27At lunch, you're gonna treat yourself to a vanilla ice cream.
28:32You're gonna eat it too fast.
28:35You're gonna get an ice cream headache.
28:37Like John Goodman, Walken excels during bizarre scenarios,
28:40whether he's asking for more cowbell
28:42or breaking the fourth wall as the Continental.
28:45Throw champagne in my face once.
28:49Shame on you.
28:50Plus, his unorthodox manner of speech
28:52always keeps the cast members on their toes,
28:55as they wonder which way Walken will go.
28:58He's a true original that brings out the best in other performers.
29:01Now, I've been begging her to try Shin-Chi Shin-Chi for months.
29:06She'd refused on the grounds that it was unclean.
29:10Number 2, Alec Baldwin
29:12I bet Nixon only got one scoop of ice cream for dessert,
29:15but I get two scoops, okay? Two scoops, two scoops.
29:18Younger Saturday Night Live fans surely recognize this actor
29:21for his exaggerated Donald Trump impression.
29:24But Alec Baldwin is no one-trick pony,
29:26as he's one of the most versatile celebrities to ever host.
29:29And he's hosted more times than anybody else as of 2018.
29:33Well, there's no beating my balls.
29:37They're made from a secret, sweaty family recipe.
29:40Alec's run began in 1990,
29:42as he mixed celebrity impressions with oddball characters
29:45to complement the likes of oddball comics
29:47such as Chris Farley and Adam Sandler.
29:49Canteen boy,
29:51would you, uh...
29:53rub some bug repellent on my chest?
29:56He's a true professional,
29:58someone that raises the bar by staying on point
30:01with each and every sketch.
30:03And of course, he isn't afraid of doing political impersonations.
30:06Kiss my...
30:07Kiss my ass!
30:09I was gonna say kiss my baby!
30:11He cursed at a baby!
30:13He did, he swore at an infant!
30:15I couldn't see who it was, I didn't know!
30:18While Baldwin has gone through some serious challenges in recent years,
30:21his work on SNL will always be cherished.

30:50It's Saturday Night!
30:58This comedy icon has been with Saturday Night Live since the beginning.
31:02In fact, some people may actually believe that Steve Martin is an original cast member.
31:06In the early days,
31:08he helped put SNL on the map with his improv comedy
31:11and purely original characters.
31:13All the while creating pop culture moments before going viral was even a thing.
31:26With his extraordinary ability to simply entertain,
31:29Steve makes SNL must-watch TV whenever he hosts.
31:33He is a comedic genius
31:35and clearly enjoys seeing people chuckle at the silliest of things.
