00:00You know what, Debbie, you are totally ruining my trip to Texas."
00:05Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the funniest and or most
00:10notable times SNL hosts break character.
00:14He's crying.
00:15I was carried down gently in a cradle of light."
00:1830.
00:19Shane Gillis, Church on Vacation
00:24An Ohio family finds themselves on vacation in Jamaica, trying to fit in with the locals
00:28at church.
00:29Under the blood, we say, under the blood, Under the blood, we say, we under the blood,
00:34Jesus, you can't cover me, under the blood, yeah!"
00:37Shane Gillis plays a dad who tries to speak with an accent and teaches kids a lesson.
00:42With the comedian speaking in Jamaican patois, he breaks after diving headfirst into the
00:47new voice.
00:48Honey, you don't even know what he's talking about.
00:50Hush now, child, me trying to hear the good word.
00:53What was that?
00:55I don't know, let me worship.
00:58Gillis seems to stop and realize what he sounds like in a self-aware moment.
01:02This leads to some giggling from the comic, with the performer carrying on despite the
01:06laughter.
01:07Thought I was right, Jesus was pwned across, died for our sins, in three days they take
01:11one raise up in the heaven.
01:14Ricky, what are you saying?
01:21It's a funny glimpse into the host's performance that's even more entertaining given the mix-up.
01:2729.
01:28Dave Chappelle – Uncle Ben
01:30When controversial mascots are being fired, the all-state guy stands up in protest.
01:35Dave Chappelle plays the advertising spokesman and immediately loses it.
01:40Now wait a cotton-picking minute, Uncle Ben.
01:45Oh, I knew you'd sell me out.
01:50We're not surprised either, considering his deepened voice and outrageous lines.
01:54He does find a way to compose himself, but it doesn't last long, because Count Chocula
01:58shows up.
01:59Chappelle breaks character again to point out Peter Davidson's features, causing even
02:04more laughter.
02:05Look at those big chocolatey lips behind them fangs, big ol' fat lips, seriously, America,
02:13look at Pete Davidson's lips.
02:17The comedian is having so much fun here that you almost forget that you're watching network
02:21TV.
02:22Chappelle's loose energy might derail the scene, but it also gives it two of its funniest
02:27moments.
02:28Some Italian, then we'll put you on some spaghetti, you chocolate b----.
02:31All right, that's enough, you're all fired except for all-state guy.
02:36Thank you very much.
02:3728.
02:38Keegan-Michael Key – The Muppet Show
02:40Ever wonder what would happen to Statler and Waldorf in the real world?
02:44This take on The Muppet Show sends two aggressive security guards after the hecklers with hilarious
02:50results.
02:51Really, something entertaining is happening!
02:54Hey!
02:55Shut up!
02:56I'm not gonna tell you again, fellas, just shut up.
03:02What happens next is up to you!
03:03Keegan-Michael Key and Kenan Thompson attack the characters, resulting in some breaking
03:08from both comedians.
03:10To be fair, the puppeteering is so real that it's hard not to laugh at it.
03:14Key's intense performance stops for a moment as a Muppet cowers in fear.
03:19This blend of violence and comedy creates the perfect cocktail for some funny diversions.
03:34The host leans into the absurd scene, giving it another highlight when he can't take it
03:39anymore.
03:40Hey, Kramer!
03:41Kramer!
03:42What?
03:43Hey, Kramer!
03:44You stupid!
03:46That felt good there!
03:47That felt good!
03:48Number 27.
03:49Alec Baldwin, Platinum Lounge.
03:50This funny sketch shows audiences where veteran SNL hosts hang out.
03:51Alec Baldwin enters the exclusive lounge, fighting with Steve Martin, and getting drinks
03:52from Martin Short.
03:53Hey, wait.
03:54Isn't that John Goodman?
03:55No.
03:56Oh!
03:57Hey!
03:58I was in short!
03:59Hey!
04:00I was in short!
04:01Hey!
04:02I was in short!
04:03Hey!
04:04I was in short!
04:05Hey!
04:06I was in short!
04:07Hey!
04:08I was in short!
04:09Hey!
04:10I was in short!
04:11Hey!
04:12I was in short!
04:13Hey!
04:14I was in short!
04:15Hey!
04:16I was in short!
04:17Hey!
04:18I was in short!
04:19Hey!
04:20I was in short!
04:21Hey!
04:22I was in short!
04:23Hey!
04:24I was in short!
04:25Hey!
04:26I was in short!
04:27Hey!
04:28I was in short!
04:29Hey!
04:30I was in short!
04:31Hey!
04:32I was in short!
04:33Hey!
04:34I was in short!
04:35Hey!
04:36I was in short!
04:37Hey!
04:38I was in short!
04:39Hey!
04:40I was in short!
04:41Hey!
04:42I was in short!
04:43It is!
04:44It is Paul Simon!
04:45It is Paul Simon!
04:46I gotta run!
04:47Hey!
04:48Great to see you champ!
04:49You gotta run!
04:50You too!
04:51We would have loved to trade places with the actor for a surreal scene.
04:55Number 26, Kieran Culkin, Canceling Cable
04:59For anybody who's tried to cancel their cable subscription, this scene might be a little
05:03too accurate.
05:04Aww, I'm so sorry to hear that.
05:07Before we begin, would you like to add a telephone landline to your current package for
05:13$12.99 a month?
05:15No, I'm good.
05:16I just need to cancel the cable.
05:17Kieran Culkin's character tries to break free from his contract, gets transferred, and finally
05:22speaks to Spectrum itself.
05:24The Succession star covers his face as Bowen Yang's character speaks.
05:28Hi, who is this?
05:30I am Spectrum, the source, the nexus, the provider.
05:40This last-minute twist breaks Culkin thanks to Yang's ridiculous voice, forcing him to
05:45hide his reaction.
05:46The entire concept is hilarious without the added effect of the host losing it.
05:51Not only does this sketch have a funny build-up, it also features an enjoyable mistake from
05:55its lead performer.
05:56May I interest you in six months of free Disney Plus tickets?
06:00No!
06:01Just cancel it!
06:02As you wish!
06:03Enjoy your new Spectrum landline!
06:0725.
06:08James Franco – Spelling Bee
06:10Thanks to a disturbed moderator, this spelling bee is anything but normal.
06:14Your word is berate.
06:17Could you use it in a sentence?
06:19Berate.
06:21I'm dead inside because my stepfather used to berate me with insults.
06:25James Franco's character gives contestants increasingly strange answers to their questions.
06:30This culminates in the actor having to say,
06:33with a straight face.
06:34When trying to give the specifics of the phrase, Franco can't hold it any longer.
06:39Mistress hates her little pig boy.
06:41I'm her dirty little pig boy.
06:43Please stand on me with your boots on.
06:45Little pig boy.
06:47Pete Davidson also breaks in another funny moment from this sketch.
06:51The host delivers the definition and country of origin, but he's still full of smiles.
06:56Country of origin?
06:58Little pig boy comes from the dirt.
07:02He's a weaselly little mud grub who needs to be stood on.
07:06Little pig boy.
07:08It's even more hilarious that the lead performer has to be serious,
07:11making it even better when he starts to crack.
07:1424.
07:15Scarlett Johansson – Hollywood Dish with Scarlett Johansson
07:19During an interview, actress Scarlett Johansson endures the wrath of two excited journalists.
07:24Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader's interviewers eventually get crazier with a spit take.
07:29Just tell us how excited you are for the next and probably final season of The Jersey Shore.
07:36You know, I've never seen the show, so...
07:41With slushy flying everywhere, the entire cast laughs at the resulting chaos.
07:45The Black Widow star's reaction shot finds her hiding a smile.
07:49If we're trapped in the scene with two comic geniuses, we'd probably be doing much worse.
07:54Hader and Wiig try desperately to keep going and trip up their co-star in the process.
07:58You have great skin.
08:01What is your secret?
08:05Well, I make sure I never go to bed with makeup on and I live for sunblock.
08:10It's a glorious mess that you have to see to believe,
08:13with everyone involved having the time of their lives.
08:16I cannot believe I came on this stupid show.
08:18I swear I'm gonna fire my publicist.
08:20Thank you for a junkie time.
08:22Oh, she was cool.
08:24She is so cool.
08:25Cool chick.
08:26I wanna hang out with her.
08:27Number 23.
08:28Jeff Goldblum.
08:29Space.
08:30The Infinite Frontier.
08:31Dr. Kent Waller.
08:33How do you even explain this idea?
08:35Will Ferrell is playing radio legend Harry Caray
08:38and talking to Jeff Goldblum's doctor about space.
08:42Much like the majority of people watching this sketch,
08:44Goldblum finally breaks after enduring Ferrell's zany character.
08:49We all know that the moon is not made of green cheese.
08:54Yes, that's true, Harry.
08:55But what if it were made of barbecue spare ribs?
08:59Would you eat it then?
09:00The host almost looks like he's trying to make sense of the skit in real time.
09:04Opposite a comedic icon,
09:06the acclaimed actor understandably has trouble keeping a straight face.
09:09I'm confused.
09:10It's a simple question, doctor.
09:12Would you eat the moon if it were made of ribs?
09:18I don't know how to answer that.
09:20The amazing impression of Caray is more than enough to throw off a seasoned performer,
09:24along with important questions about eating the moon,
09:27this scene is worth it just for Goldblum's slip-up.
09:30What about this?
09:31If you had a choice between being the top scientist in your field
09:35or getting mad cow disease, what would it be?
09:40Of course I would choose to be the top scientist in my field.
09:4322. Will Ferrell
09:45Cut for time, cast list.
09:47In this sketch set in high school,
09:50Will Ferrell plays a dramatic director who's set to reveal his casting choices.
09:54The comedian then bumps into Aidy Bryant,
09:57and the laughs follow soon after.
09:59Back up, please.
10:01Back up.
10:02Please.
10:03What are you doing?
10:08Ferrell tries to hide his break, but it's already too late in a hilarious mishap.
10:12Several of the other cast members follow suit in a chaotic turn of events.
10:16Please.
10:18And our tech director death.
10:26This is going to be a b---- to light, but I was promised new gels, so stay tuned.
10:30It doesn't help that the host's every move is funny,
10:33putting his co-stars on edge the whole time.
10:35Even former SNL legends crack up,
10:38giving this amusing look at theater kids even more replay value.
10:42Yes. Gorgeous, sweet chaos.
10:4521. Steve Martin and Martin Short
10:48The Holiday Train
10:49You don't need to know the film White Christmas to enjoy this wacky sketch.
10:53Well, I'm glad I sat with you three. You seem like a fun group.
10:57You know what? We are fun. Thank you for noticing that.
10:59Steve Martin and Martin Short are two passengers on a train,
11:03breaking into song to talk snow.
11:05Martin starts into his off-key verse and sends Short for a loop.
11:09Both comedians begin to crumble,
11:11with the latter even motioning to his ear in a funny bit of improvisation.
11:15We've never seen it. Not in person anyway.
11:18Snow. I want to go outside and touch a bunch of snow.
11:26These two professionals have been working for so long
11:29that they know how to roll with a mistake.
11:31Through the power of song, they find a way to work through the pain.
11:35It's also great to see they both can rib each other on live TV.
11:39And dream of snow.
11:50Brittany Murphy The Leatherman
11:53A sketch starring Notorious Breaker Jimmy Fallon and some ill-timed sound effects
11:59sounds like a recipe for chaos.
12:01And that's exactly what a sketch from this episode gives.
12:05Can I get you into some leather?
12:07Well, these are kind of nice.
12:09No, these are fabulous, actually.
12:11Murphy plays a customer interested in purchasing a pair of snake-skin pants.
12:16She really sinks her teeth into the comedy,
12:19and leans into the ridiculousness of the scenario.
12:22And, props to her, she lasts far longer than we could have,
12:26especially once Horatio Sanz enters the scene.
12:29Choo-choo!
12:37Why did I give him that whip for his birthday?
12:40However, she eventually can't hold it back any longer.
12:43When she does break, though, she continues the scene so seamlessly
12:46that it almost looks like a character quirk, rather than genuine laughter.
12:51Maybe leather isn't right for me.
12:5519. Maya Rudolph
12:57Super Showcase Spokesmodels
13:00Given Rudolph's experience as a former SNL cast member,
13:03you might assume she'd have keeping a straight face down to a fine art.
13:08And sure, that might be the case.
13:10Until she's paired up with Kristen Wiig.
13:13It's a real holland born!
13:15When she returned as host and co-starred in this particularly memorable skit
13:19as a game show spokesmodel,
13:21the results were downright tumultuous and utterly hilarious.
13:25Their exaggerated accents and ridiculous prizes are enough to make anyone chuckle.
13:31That's a chicken man guarantee.
13:33If your man likes chicken, you might like chicken!
13:37Hader and Wiig are visibly struggling to keep their composure along with Rudolph.
13:42However, it's Wiig's antics on the golf cart that properly set her off.
13:47Not only does Wiig break the set, but she breaks Rudolph too.
13:51That wasn't supposed to happen.
13:5418. Jonah Hill – Benny Hanna
13:57Few things are funnier than a kid with an old soul.
14:00Just ask Jonah Hill.
14:02He plays Adam Grossman, a six-year-old who seems possessed by,
14:06to quote the actor,
14:08a cat skills comedian.
14:10Can I get you folks something to drink?
14:12Cup of Joe for me, sweetheart, please.
14:14And I like my coffee like I like my nannies.
14:16Black and bitter.
14:18I'm kidding, I'm six!
14:20I'll take a fruit punch, neat!
14:22In this segment of the recurring sketch,
14:24Adam goes to Benny Hanna with his nanny, Lily,
14:27played by Leslie Jones.
14:29Hill is absolutely hysterical as the overconfident, chatty child,
14:34so it's hardly surprising that not only does he make Jones break repeatedly,
14:38but he can barely hold it together himself.
14:41You're giving me nothing here!
14:43It's like pulling teeth without a string!
14:46How about some chef tricks? That'll lighten the mood.
14:49He goes above and beyond to bring this colorful character to life,
14:53and he does such a stellar job that even he can't help but laugh.
14:58I have no idea what that means,
15:00but redemption song!
15:04It is a song!
15:0617. Drew Barrymore – The Lovers
15:10with Barbara and Dave
15:12Barbara, what brings you to the prestigious Welchley Oggs?
15:16The usual.
15:18Barrymore is practically an SNL Hall of Famer.
15:21She first hosted the show in 1982, when she was just seven years old,
15:25and joined the Five Timers Club in 2007.
15:29However, as this sketch proves,
15:31experience means nothing when something is just that darn funny.
15:36We submitted to his ravenous desires.
15:41As the three of us became one with the great eagle spirit.
15:45Let's be honest.
15:46Will Ferrell entered this sketch determined to crack up his scene mates,
15:50and he succeeds.
15:52In fact, his and Rachel Dratch's commitment to their characters
15:55make it impossible to remain poker-faced.
15:58Just look at Barrymore's expression.
16:00By the end of the sketch, she can no longer contain her laughter.
16:03And who can blame her?
16:05Lava.
16:07Would you care to see my bed adorned with hibiscus petals?
16:11And my photo of me?
16:14And Gina Davis.
16:17Gina Davis? That sounds nice.
16:1916. Christina Applegate – Matt Foley – Van Down by the River
16:24Take everything you know about motivational speakers,
16:27and toss it out the window.
16:29You've got Matt Foley.
16:31With every clunky movement or emphatic cry of
16:34And I live in a van down by the river.
16:37Chris Farley knew how to make everyone cackle,
16:40and the cast was no exception.
16:42According to David Spade, Farley hid some of his character quirks,
16:46like readjusting his pants until the live show,
16:49with the likely intention of surprising and breaking his castmates.
16:53He succeeded.
16:55Well, la dee frickin' da!
16:58Spade and host Christina Applegate can barely hide their giggles,
17:02and the more physical Farley gets, the more they struggle.
17:05We imagine Matt Foley could still hear their laughter
17:08down in his van by the river.
17:10Hopsa daisy.
17:12By God.
17:14We're gonna have to clean that up later.
17:1715. Bill Hader – Girlfriends Game Night
17:21When you think of SNL actors breaking character,
17:23we imagine this springs to mind.
17:26John Mulaney would famously add new jokes at the last minute
17:29to make Hader break as Stefan.
17:31In one particular occasion, he whispers in his ear,
17:34making him fall apart completely.
17:37Thank you, Sean.
17:40Sean.
17:42However, arguably the highlight of Hader's hosting stint
17:45was Girlfriends Game Night, where he plays Horace,
17:48the older husband of Cecily Strong's Genie.
17:51Horace isn't quite in control of his wheelchair,
17:54providing ample hilarity.
17:57Slow, Horace.
18:00Slow, Horace.
18:03Horace.
18:05Slow.
18:07Horace.
18:09As he tries to back up part of the set,
18:11Melissa Villaseñor moves with him.
18:14Naturally, this makes everyone crack up.
18:16Hader tries hiding his laughter behind Strong,
18:19but he isn't fooling anyone.
18:22You should be ashamed of yourselves.
18:24This woman is...
18:29This woman is your friend.
18:31Number 14, Margot Robbie.
18:33Actress roundtable.
18:35Sometimes a skit hits a little too close to home.
18:38On Margot Robbie's only time hosting the show so far,
18:41one of the skits she did was a spoof of an actress' roundtable discussion,
18:46featuring Robbie doing a fairly good Keira Knightley impression.
18:50Thank you. Actually, so great to be here
18:53supporting women in film.
18:54The other cast members are also playing younger, real actresses,
18:58all except for Kate McKinnon,
19:00who is playing a fake actress named Debette Goldry,
19:03who is much older and worked during the Golden Age of Hollywood.
19:07It's a pleasure to be alive.
19:10The gag is that while all the younger actresses give standard,
19:13fairly boring answers,
19:15Debette tells totally wacky, often inappropriate stories
19:19from long ago in her career.
19:21Poor Robbie has a tremendously hard time not laughing at her,
19:24but, hey, it's hard not to laugh at Kate McKinnon.
19:27You girls know who he is.
19:31No, we don't.
19:33Is that a thing that happens?
19:35Number 13, Justin Timberlake.
19:37The Barry Gibb talk show.
19:39BG Singers.
19:40If anyone has proven themselves to be an SNL all-star,
19:43it's Justin Timberlake.
19:45To join the five-timers club,
19:47you can't be a slouch in the comedian department.
19:50Welcome to the five-timers club.
19:52We've been expecting you, Mr. Timberlake.
19:54Wow.
19:55Smoking jacket?
19:56Please.
19:57But even five-timers fall sometimes.
19:59In one of Timberlake's earlier performances on the show,
20:02he did a skit with Jimmy Fallon titled The Barry Gibb Talk Show.
20:06In the skit, Fallon plays the titular Gibb,
20:09taking on the singer's signature falsetto and speaking voice.
20:13What effect do you think this is gonna have on California politics as a whole?
20:18As Barry's brother Robin,
20:20Timberlake is hilarious,
20:22but sometimes has a hard time, understandably,
20:25keeping a straight face at Fallon's antics.
20:29The face he makes to try and keep himself from laughing
20:32is one for the books.
20:33Um, have a...
20:39Do you have anything to add?
20:45No.
20:46Number 12, Candice Bergen, Extremely Stupid
20:50Flubbing your lines in a sketch featuring a PSA-like message
20:54from the Right to Extreme Stupidity League
20:57might seem like bad timing,
20:59but it's incredibly funny.
21:01You know, we all can't be brainy like Fern here.
21:06Cast member Gilda Radner plays Fern.
21:08Or is it Lisa?
21:10Whatever her name is, she's a few cards short of a full deck.
21:14Her friend, played by the host, tries to point this out,
21:17only to mess up the line.
21:19You're not too bright, are you, Fern?
21:21I mean, whatever your name was.
21:25Bergen can barely keep it together after that,
21:28but when Radner seemingly ad-libs a couple of references to the gaffe,
21:32she loses her cool entirely.
21:34Extremely stupid people are discriminated against all the time.
21:39And I should know, and so should Fern,
21:41because we are extremely stupid people.
21:47And it takes some time until she's able to regain her composure.
21:50We can't think of a more perfectly timed flub.
21:54Number 11, Pedro Pascal, Lisa from Temecula
21:58I guess I had two bones in my face.
22:02That is so crazy.
22:03What are the odds?
22:05Ego Wodim gave the most as Lisa from Temecula
22:08in this season 48 sketch.
22:10Her all-in commitment as the bold, no-nonsense,
22:13yet blissfully oblivious Lisa is next level.
22:17But when she starts soaring away at her extra, extra well-done steak,
22:22host Pedro Pascal can't even hide his laughter,
22:25chortling away as openly as if he was sitting in the audience.
22:29I'm about to tear this thing up.
22:32Oh my God.
22:34When I open the door,
22:38Pascal later revealed that he was set off by scene mate Bowen Yang,
22:44who apparently rarely breaks.
22:47This sketch was so ridiculously over-the-top
22:50and outrageously hilarious
22:52that even the most poker-faced person
22:54would feel compelled to at least crack a smile.
22:57Poor Pedro.
22:58He never even stood a chance.
23:00You know what? You know what?
23:02Y'all just haven't had it right.
23:04I'm going to cut y'all a piece.
23:05Number 10, Janet Jackson, Cork Soakers
23:08To Janet's credit, it's pretty hard to watch this sketch
23:11and not crack a smile.
23:13This is where the final step in the bottling process happens,
23:17where we prepare all the corks
23:19for all the bottles of Brunello that you saw earlier.
23:22Jimmy Fallon, Horatio Sanz, and other members of the SNL cast
23:26play a group of Italian winemakers
23:28who are teaching a group of tourists about their craft.
23:31I've always actually wondered about that.
23:33How do you cork the bottles?
23:35Excellent question, Marbella.
23:37Through the sketch, they all take turns saying the words
23:40cork soaker multiple times
23:42in very thick Italian accents.
23:44We'll give you a few moments to figure out what that sounds like.
23:48I love soaking a cork.
23:50I could soak a cork all night long if they let me.
23:54I would soak two corks at once.
23:57Janet plays one of the tourists
23:59and breaks character as she's asking the winemakers
24:01how they learned to soak corks.
24:03So how did you learn to soak corks?
24:08Soak corks.
24:09She flops a bit, starts to giggle,
24:11and things just devolve from there.
24:14Number nine, Emily Blunt, Escorts.
24:17You'd think a star like Emily Blunt
24:19would have hosted Saturday Night Live multiple times,
24:22so you might be surprised to learn
24:24the actress only has one hosting gig under her belt so far.
24:28But I did get to improv a few little things
24:30like, you know, the part where I said,
24:32it's me, you know, that was improvised.
24:35She did a wonderful job by our standards,
24:37but there was one skit where she sort of lost her cool.
24:41In a skit called Escorts, Blunt and cast member Leslie Jones
24:45play two escorts who get very specific
24:48about what they will and will not do.
24:51I will kiss, but only with this amount of tongue.
24:56Oh, is your tongue out?
24:57Yes.
24:58Blunt mostly keeps it together
25:00through the first part of the sketch,
25:01but there's a moment towards the end
25:03where she has to fake a fall.
25:05She pops her head over the couch to say her line,
25:08but just can't stop a giggle fit from taking over.
25:11Oopsie doopsie, I muffed it up again.
25:15Number eight, Larry David, New Wife.
25:18Veteran comedians are known for their ability
25:20to keep character, no matter how funny the situation.
25:23So it's a wonderful but rare treat
25:26when someone like Larry David
25:28can't help but laugh at a sketch.
25:30I got married this past weekend.
25:32You did what?
25:34I met and married a wonderful woman.
25:36She's opened up a whole new world to me.
25:39David was a writer for SNL during its 10th season,
25:42and came back years later to play Bernie Sanders
25:45during season 41.
25:46But it was during one of his hosting stints
25:49that he caught a case of the giggles.
25:51In a skit called New Wife,
25:53David introduces his friends to his very young new wife,
25:56played by Cecily Strong.
25:58Yeah, you guys can come, but you gotta bring three friends,
26:01and they have to be either buff, cute, or rude.
26:03Two out of three.
26:04The skit plays on someone as old as Larry David
26:07having to say ridiculous hip lingo,
26:09and he seems just as tickled by it as the rest of us.
26:13Is everything okay?
26:15You got some mesh.
26:20Yeah, I'm sorry.
26:21Sorry.
26:24I took my prep on an empty stomach.
26:27Number seven, Jamie Foxx, Main Justice.
26:31Saturday Night Live has had some pretty strange running skits
26:34over the years,
26:35but one of the oddest has to be Main Justice.
26:38Okay, y'all take a seat.
26:40Y'all take a seat right here, right now.
26:42SNL veteran Justin Timberlake once starred in this sketch,
26:46but today we want to honor Jamie Foxx's turn.
26:49The sketch itself is absolutely ridiculous.
26:52The people in a courtroom in Maine
26:54act like they're from the Louisiana Bayou,
26:57confusing a character who's from out of town.
27:00Hey, what the hell is going on here?
27:01Okay, all right now.
27:03Okay, here we go now.
27:04If we're being honest, Jason Sudeikis' accent alone
27:08would have probably made us laugh way earlier in the sketch,
27:11so kudos to Foxx for holding on as long as he did.
27:14But there's one particular quote at the end
27:17that involves the word swamp and butt,
27:20and Foxx just can't keep it in.
27:22I have to time up to Uncle Orville's airboat
27:25and drag his bare, lily-white butt across the swamp
27:30to put out that ass fire.
27:37Number six, Sean Hayes, Jeffreys
27:40Not many actors are well-known for a singular character
27:43as Sean Hayes is,
27:45but Jack from Will & Grace
27:47is one of the most indelible sitcom characters of all time.
27:50Okay, that's interesting.
27:51You'd think maybe you could have told me this,
27:53oh, I don't know, before I packed up my entire life.
27:56So it makes sense that Hayes would be given a character
27:58semi-similar to Jack on his Saturday Night Live stint in 2001.
28:03Think Jack, but a little more hipster.
28:06In this skit, Hayes and Jimmy Fallon
28:08play a couple of sales clerks at a store called Jeffreys
28:12who mock and belittle every customer who comes in.
28:15What?
28:16This is a genuine Looney Tunes jacket.
28:25Wow, I didn't know Joey Bonifuco had a garage sale.
28:28Hayes mostly keeps it together during the skit,
28:30but when Will Ferrell rolls in on a motorized scooter,
28:34well, that's the end of Hayes' straight face.
28:37We're going to the Dolce & Gabbana show.
28:39How fast could you have your bags packed from there on?
28:46And once again, we get a veteran comedian
28:48who can't quite keep it together.
28:50But to Kevin Hart's credit, this Barnes & Noble sketch
28:53is one of the funniest the show has produced in its later years.
28:57Hart plays a manager at a Barnes & Noble store
29:00who has to fire one of his employees.
29:02Unfortunately, I'm going to have to let somebody go today.
29:04Yeah, right!
29:05Oh, what?
29:06We know who you think it's us!
29:08Yeah, you nerds hate us because we work in a cafe!
29:11Thinking they're on the chopping block,
29:13Cecily Strong and Bobby Moynihan
29:15begin insulting their co-workers within an inch of their lives.
29:19Bretton!
29:20Oh!
29:21Why do you always look so wet?
29:23Why?
29:25Do you hatch out of an egg every morning?
29:28These two are hilarious.
29:30But Tim Robinson is who finally gets Hart to crack.
29:34During one of Hart's lines,
29:35Robinson pops up behind him without warning,
29:38causing him to break character and let out a quick laugh.
29:41I would never fire any person in this room except Carl!
29:45Oh, no!
29:46Except for Carl!
29:48Reason being, he's old, he's useless,
29:50he's just that good to me!
29:52Sorry, Carl!
29:54Sorry, Carl!
29:55You gotta go!
29:56Number four, Billie Eilish.
29:58Hotel ad.
29:59When a host doesn't have a lot of comedy chops under their belt,
30:02it's easy to see why some of the skits
30:04that Saturday Night Live writers come up with
30:07might throw them off their game.
30:09So is the case for Billie Eilish,
30:11who hosted the show in 2021
30:13and did surprisingly well for a first-time host,
30:16especially one so young.
30:18Our rooms provide every comfort required by law.
30:23Tiny soap in plastic.
30:25Phone that blinks.
30:27One of her best skits was Hotel Ad,
30:29in which Eilish lent her impeccable monotone voice
30:32to a very strange and off-putting commercial for a hotel.
30:35Wanna see the local sights?
30:37Ask our concierge Doreen,
30:39but be warned, she's having a hard month every month.
30:43But unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it,
30:47Eilish couldn't hold that deadpan tone for long,
30:50especially not next to the very hilarious Kate McKinnon.
30:54Situated between the DMV and a darkened Sonic,
30:57it's the location that will make your Uber driver say,
31:00you sure?
31:09Well, you guys, Disney World really is fun.
31:11Makes me feel like a kid again.
31:13I mean, the time before my two-year stint at Children's.
31:16This sketch is anything but a downer.
31:19Indeed, taking Rachel Dratch's iconic recurring character
31:22to the happiest place on Earth was a stroke of genius,
31:26although even Pluto walks away from her with his tail between his legs.
31:30That cost him one. He's probably in the early stages of heat stroke.
31:37Nevertheless, as they say, misery loves company,
31:41and Debbie's misery is such a crowd-pleaser
31:44that she soon breaks everyone.
31:46Credit to Lohan, though, who holds out longer than most of her scene mates.
31:50However, eventually, even she gets caught up in the hilarity and loses it.
31:54You are totally ruining my trip to Texas.
31:58I didn't say a word during It's a Small World when you talked about low birth weight,
32:02or during the fireworks when you went over...
32:04when you went about about feline AIDS.
32:06The actress later told Vogue that she quickly left the set
32:10as she was worried she'd get in trouble for laughing.
32:17While the subject matter is somewhat sketchy,
32:20this skit is primarily remembered for Adele's infectious laughter.
32:24You're gonna want that coconut water.
32:30Last night, I saw the face of God.
32:35She plays a divorcee discovering the continent of Africa
32:39alongside cast members Kate McKinnon and Heidi Gardner.
32:43As any SNL fan knows, keeping a straight face while sharing the screen with McKinnon
32:48is very hard.
32:50And for sure, the comedian comes close to breaking the singer numerous times.
32:54It starts with a sly smile and a slight chuckle here and there.
32:58But it's Gardner who delivers the double entendre
33:01that leaves Adele doubled over and laughing out loud.
33:05The rhythm, the drums, the pounding.
33:12The fanning yourself with a pom between rounds.
33:15It was the breakout sketch of the night.
33:17Now that's some powerful laughter.

33:47Ryan Gosling, Close Encounter
33:49When you make Ryan Gosling break character this badly,
33:52the only choice is to do it again.
33:54And that's exactly what Saturday Night Live did.
33:57Yes, you three experienced the first verified case of alien abduction,
34:01so naturally you are of great interest to the United States government.
34:04When Ryan Gosling first appeared in the Close Encounter sketch,
34:08there was no way we could have known just how iconic this appearance would come to be.
34:12The sketch portrays three people who are abducted by aliens
34:16and asked to tell the government about their experience,
34:19and marks another instance of Kate McKinnon making people absolutely lose it.
34:34As soon as she gets going, Gosling is absolutely down for the count.
34:38He tries to hide behind his hand, but nothing can hide that smile.
34:46Till the place open up.
34:50Gosling later replies the sketch, but nothing is as good as the original.
34:54Did we forget another standout SNL moment where the host breaks?
34:58Let us know in the comments below.
35:00Straight up.
35:02Very nice.
