00:00Maybe I'll throw a fit in an L.A. hotel
00:05Or make life for the staff a true living hell
00:10Welcome to Ms. Mojo
00:12And today we're counting down our picks for the Saturday Night Live hosts who most memorably pulled double duty
00:18And the last thing you want to do is make a mistake in front of millions of people
00:25But usually things work out
00:28Number 10. Charli XCX
00:30Auto-tune makes everything sound better
00:34Even really bad news
00:36Like this, watch
00:39I'm breaking up with you
00:41Cause I'm trying to hook up with your dad
00:45This British avant-pop star had us wondering
00:48Charli, where have you been all our lives?
00:50Although she'd graced the SNL main stage before
00:53Charli's first hosting gig came on the heels of her critically acclaimed sixth studio album, Brat
00:58In addition to the viral phenomenon that was Brat Summer
01:01Yeah, 360, when you're in the mirror, do you like what you see?
01:04When you're in the mirror, you're just looking at
01:06I'm everywhere, I'm so Julia
01:09Alongside two instantly iconic musical performances
01:12Charli shocked us with her pitch-perfect comedic timing and seemingly effortless charisma
01:17The 360 singer even found time to cameo in a Lonely Island digital short with Andy Samberg
01:22Poking fun at upper-middle class suburbanites
01:24Hey, in an alternate universe, maybe Charli would've made a good cast member
01:28In this crazy world, I can't believe I found someone like you
01:32Who shows love the way we do
01:35Like calling the cops instead of sex
01:38Number 9. Billie Eilish
01:40I am so excited to be here
01:43My name is Billie Eilish
01:45If you don't...
01:48Thank you
01:49If you don't know me from my music
01:51You may know me from my hair or my clothes
01:54That is why I decided to dress like Mrs. Claus going to the club
01:59Speaking of pleasant surprises
02:01You can imagine how surprised SNL audiences were to see Billie Eilish absolutely own her debut hosting stint
02:07Sure, she's only won 9 Grammys, 2 Oscars and 20 Guinness World Records
02:12But can she do sketch comedy?
02:14As it turns out, that's just another notch in Eilish's belt of accomplishments
02:18Given the dark, introspective tone of her music, could you blame us?
02:21If I'm away from you
02:26I'm happier than ever
02:31While Billie Eilish and Christmas may not be the first two things you'd think to put together
02:36Eilish more than held her own in several holiday-themed sketches
02:39Keep an eye out for the hotel ad sketch
02:41In which Eilish can't help but crack up at Kate McKinnon's antics
02:45Don't worry, Billie, we do exactly the same
02:48Visit us and see why TripAdvisor called us a stock photo you can sleep in
02:53And why the news called us the place that man did those things
03:02We put the hospital in hospitality
03:07See, this is a historic episode
03:09Because it's the first time an actor has also been the musical guest at Saturday Night Live
03:14And if you're wondering if that's true, it's not
03:18The announcement of Dune, Wonka, and Call Me By Your Name star Chalamet as a musical guest
03:22Was generally met with confusion by fans of the show
03:25Despite his Oscar-nominated performance as the legendary Bob Dylan
03:29Chalamet is hardly known as a musician
03:32The actor had hosted SNL twice before, so no one was doubting his comedy credentials
03:37As they shouldn't have, given that Timmy once again brought his A-game
03:41Hey, ain't nothing wrong with a big old woman
03:43Hey, you should put that on the sign
03:47You think the sign in front of our coffee shop should say nothing wrong with a big woman?
03:52Yes, sir, I do
03:55Chalamet stayed true to Dylan's spirit, playing a selection of obscure tracks
03:59That he declared were his personal favorites
04:01From Dylan's songbook that only die-hard fans would know
04:04Fun, energetic performances aside, you've got to give the young Oscar nominee points for originality
04:11I've been told to play all day long
04:21Well, how do you like my outfit?
04:26You recognize it, don't you?
04:29This is the NBC peacock
04:32That's because Lorne Michaels told me to wear this
04:34Because he wanted me to shake my tail feathers for you
04:37Never let it be said that the queen of country herself is anything but a good sport
04:41Dolly was, of course, a massively established star of the music world by the time she hosted in 1989
04:47And it's also worth noting that she'd already built up a more than solid filmography of leading lady roles, too
04:53So with that in mind, Lorne Michaels, why did it take so long to get Dolly?
04:57And why haven't you had her back since?
04:59Now, how can I help you?
05:00Oh, no check-out, girl, no check-out, girl
05:02No, I gotta wait for you to cash out the register, right?
05:05Would you stop talking?
05:07Oh, no, let her talk
05:09Sometimes we need to get things off our chest
05:11I mean, if we keep all that stuff bottled up inside us, well, I mean, it's bad for you
05:15You get ulcers and stuff like that
05:17Parton handled both hosting and performing music with the flamboyant, exuberant flair that she's famous for
05:22Just watch her gut-busting monologue, which finds Dolly having a self-aware laugh at her, um, two greatest assets
05:29These people have gone out of their way to make me feel like one of the family
05:33You know, it's amazing to me how hard these people work
05:37I mean, they have put this thing together in just one week
05:42I mean, Monday, they start coming up with ideas, and then Tuesday, they start to ride them
05:48Number six, Bruno Mars
05:50What have I done?
05:55What did I do?
05:59Why am I hosting SNL tonight?
06:04Might have bit off more than I can chew
06:09Sure, Mars has graced the SNL music stage a handful of times now
06:13But just like Dolly, we have to wonder why the modern-day pop dynamo hasn't hosted again since his initial 2012 outing as part of season 38
06:21The superstar, born Peter Hernandez, put his full range of talents on display
06:26letting viewers know that he had more to offer than his catchy love songs that continue to dominate the airwaves
06:31Cause you make me feel like I've been locked out of heaven for too long
06:40We even learned that Mars has an uncanny knack for celebrity vocal impressions
06:45as well as for unexpectedly on-point physical comedy
06:48And against all odds, there was a completely left-field showcase for his dramatic acting skills
06:53Sure, Lauren, whatever works
06:55And she said she loved me, but she couldn't picture me as her husband
07:00And that was it, man
07:02Six years of my life, gone
07:04And it all went down the same weekend
07:06My dad says he has another family
07:08He had them the whole time
07:10He likes them even more because they're smarter
07:15What's so scandalous about my performance?
07:17Maybe it has to do with your outfit
07:19When are you gonna put your clothes on for the show?
07:22These are my clothes
07:24Shallow!
07:26If you walk out there like that, they're gonna put you in prison, like that guy
07:31Yeah, I know you want it
07:34I want it
07:36Hey, what's up, kid? You ready to start grabbing at my junk while I half-sing?
07:40Ah, the host and musical guest so nice, they asked her back twice
07:44Cringy attempts at rhyming aside
07:46the former Hannah Montana has predictably proven herself to be nothing less than a consummate showwoman
07:51Cyrus' 2013 monologue in particular tackled recent scandals that had plagued her career in no uncertain terms
07:57It is so great to be back at SNL
08:00In case anyone's concerned, you should know there will be no twerking tonight
08:05I used to think twerking was cool, but now that white people are doing it, it seems kind of lame
08:09I guess there's something about country singers and playing nice on SNL
08:13Anyway, in typical Miley fashion, she handled the fallout from her controversial VMA performance alongside Robin Thicke
08:19in a way that only Miley could, which is making fun of herself on one of the nation's biggest platforms
08:25How does she manage to make talking about what she won't do so entertaining?
08:29There are a few subjects we're not gonna get into tonight
08:33I'm not gonna do Hannah Montana, but I can give you an update on what she's been up to
08:38She was murdered
08:40And also, we went back and forth on this, but guys, I just don't think we should do that wrecking ball sketch
08:47What?! Miley, come on! My mom is here!
08:52Number 4. Taylor Swift
08:54I like writing songs about douchebags who cheat on me, but I'm not gonna say that
09:00In my monologue
09:02We'll stop bringing it up after this, but as many Swifties have surely wondered by now
09:06Is there a reason that Taylor hasn't hosted again since her now iconic 2009 hosting appearance?
09:12Although Ms. Swift herself has appeared as the musical guest on a number of occasions
09:16Her one and only gig as host left fans of hers and SNL wanting more
09:28Despite her lack of a background in sketch comedy, Swift acquitted herself admirably
09:33Proving herself a natural fit for the show's characteristically goofy sensibilities
09:38The You Belong With Me singer tackled her public image, media scrutiny of her personal life
09:43And her infamous run-in with Kanye West
09:45You know the one
09:47And that was just in her monologue
09:49You might be expecting me to say
09:52Something bad about Kanye
09:55And how he ran up on the stage
09:58And ruined my VMA monologue
10:05But there's nothing more to say
10:08Because everything's okay, I've got security lining the stage
10:19I used to live in New York, and it's so great to be back here, especially now that I'm rich
10:25Seriously, I recommend it. I was poor here, and it's way better when you're rich
10:30But it truly is an honor to be hosting SNL instead of just auditioning for it, which I did twice
10:36That's not a joke, I'm just still pissed
10:39Like he mentions in his hilarious monologue
10:42Glover actually auditioned to be part of the SNL cast before eventually breaking out as part of the cast of Community
10:48While he fell short at the time, that's for our benefit
10:51Otherwise, he may not have been able to pursue his seemingly endless stable of creative passions
10:56I went back to our apartment and canceled all our credit cards
11:00All your nice jewelry?
11:02I put it right up my ass
11:05Glover's hosting gig reaffirmed the obvious
11:08That the comedian, rapper, producer, etc. would have been a natural fit on the show
11:13Despite his overall career shift away from comedy
11:16Glover returned to his roots for a highly memorable late-season episode
11:20Don't forget to check out his musical performances as Childish Gambino
11:23Which feature the first-ever live rendition of his viral hit, This Is America
11:28This is America
11:30Don't catch you slippin' though
11:32Don't catch you slippin' though
11:34Look what I'm whippin' though
11:36Number two, Ariana Grande
11:38What an amazing place to launch a career, am I right?
11:42That's right, Kenan
11:43We both started out doing Nickelodeon shows, but of course that's not the only thing people know us for anymore
11:48Well, speak for yourself
11:50I've been on the show for 13 damn years and people still ask me twice a week, where's Kel?
11:57I loved you guys, do you still stay in touch?
11:59A little bit
12:01Look, was there ever any doubt that Ari would kill it in both capacities on SNL?
12:06Even if you're not surprised by how effortlessly the pop star pulled it off
12:10It's hard to deny how compulsively watchable Ariana is
12:14Grande's years of experience in showbiz prepared her for a masterful stint at the helm of the SNL ship
12:20Something about you
12:22Makes it feel like a dangerous woman
12:28Case in point, her monologue
12:30In which she addresses her rising star in hilariously pithy fashion
12:34Poking fun at her own reputation as a former child star
12:37The real standout sketch is one in which Ari gets to show off her most underutilized talent
12:42Shockingly good celebrity impressions, a la Bruno Mars
12:46Chloe, the future of title is in your hands
12:48But I'm shy
12:49Well try damn it, people need their Britney Spears

13:16Number one, Justin Timberlake
13:39Yeah, you probably saw this one coming
13:41But how can you blame us?
13:43Timberlake, even considering his late career fall from grace
13:46May be the Saturday Night Live host
13:48From the time that the former NSYNC member first hosted in 2006
13:52Promoting future sex love sounds
13:54It was abundantly clear that Timberlake had the goods
14:07JT stood head and shoulders above the rest
14:10Boasting his own original cavalcade of recurring SNL characters
14:14An honor reserved for only the most revered of hosts
14:17Timberlake last pulled double duty in 2013
14:20In recognition of the 2020 experience
14:22Proving that he hasn't lost any of his sketch comedy mojo in the process
14:41Who's your favorite SNL host that can do it all?
14:43Are there any we missed?
