00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're looking at that last 5% mostly backwashed mouthful
00:16of a shared tasty beverage.
00:18That barely made sense.
00:19These are the 10 worst sections of great games.
00:22None of these moments ruined the game, if anything they highlighted how good the rest
00:26of the game actually was, regardless we wish we could skip these bits.
00:30Before we continue, we publish content all week long so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:34the bell to get notified of our latest videos.
00:38Chapter 13
00:53Although it's not the most beloved Final Fantasy entry, Final Fantasy 15 still holds
00:57up in a series filled with some of the best games of all time.
01:01Chapter 13 of Final Fantasy 15 however, does not.
01:05Chapter 13 is widely criticized for its drastic change in gameplay.
01:09It shifts from the open world, action oriented style to a linear, stealth based experience
01:14that feels tedious and out of place.
01:16The chapter is excessively long, with repetitive enemy encounters and limited character abilities,
01:22which frustrates players used to the games usual pace in combat freedom.
01:25I was going to say, imagine a Mary Jane section spread across an entire chapter, but she may
01:30come up later.
01:41Riddler Races
01:48One theme you will see across this list is games establishing themselves with fun gameplay
01:53themes and then deciding to throw that all out the window for a section, and if your
01:56game is focused on combat, stealth and exploration, why the hell would you add Riddler Races into
02:01the mix?
02:02These races require precision driving in the Batmobile through elaborate, often frustrating
02:07difficult tracks that can feel more like a chore than a challenge.
02:10The sudden emphasis on vehicular gameplay detracts from the core experience, and the
02:15controls can be clunky leading to repeated failures.
02:18Something drives gamers more crazy than feeling like they suck, and we're 100% not going to
02:23blame ourselves, so fuck you Arkham Knight.
02:34Allies for Bruma
02:35For the most part, Oblivion offers a concise and enjoyable campaign.
02:47It's not exactly Skyrim, but it's still phenomenal.
02:50The mission Allies for Bruma, however, is not phenomenal.
02:53It involves going from place to place and talking to lords to secure their support for
02:58a major battle.
02:59While it's understandable that personal contact might be needed, the repetitive nature of
03:03the task feels like unnecessary padding.
03:06I love realistic moments in gaming, don't get me wrong, but I don't need to see my character
03:10networking.
03:15Rainbow Ride
03:25Super Mario 64 has a lot of frustrating moments, but that's part of the charm of a platforming
03:30masterpiece.
03:31Rainbow Ride, however, can go suck my big toe.
03:34As the intended finale to the castle's levels before the big showdown with Bowser, Rainbow
03:39Ride is a major disappointment.
03:42The floating carpets you must ride move painfully slow, making the level feel tedious, and for
03:47a game that was previously as fast-paced as the player could handle, this feels glaring.
03:51With only 146 coins available, attempting the 100 coin star can be frustratingly difficult.
03:57On top of that, the level's overall design feels poo-poo bum-poo.
04:09The Library
04:24The Library in Halo Combat Evolved is often criticised for its repetitive and monotonous
04:28design, and for a section of the original Halo to be one of the worst moments in gaming,
04:33it means the rest of the game must have been pretty damn good to earn its status.
04:37The level consists of long, similar-looking corridors and rooms, making navigation confusing
04:42and tedious.
04:44Players are bombarded with relentless waves of the Flood, leading to a frustrating grinding
04:48experience rather than a challenging or enjoyable one.
05:00Stealth Missions
05:01It's baffling that they included this type of journalistic mission in a Spider-Man game,
05:10because when you play as Spider-Man, in a game called Spider-Man, where the only character
05:14on the good side is Spider-Man, you only want to play as Spider-Man.
05:19Playing as a non-Spidey character could work, but why not offer more fitting tasks, not
05:23stealth sneaking around and listening to non-important dialogue without the use of beautiful cinematics.
05:29It's almost like they were setting Mary Jane up to fail.
05:32While it's not terrible, it never quite distracts players from the fact that they're being pulled
05:36away from the rest of this otherwise stellar game.
05:39Why sneak when I can swing?
05:40Why sneak when I can punch?
05:42Why sneak when I can play as god damn Spider-Man?
05:57Escorting Natalia
06:09Replaying Goldeneye 007 reminds us that there were actually a lot of frustrating moments,
06:13especially in harder difficulties, but no matter what difficulty you play in, Escorting
06:18Natalia is infamous for its frustrating difficulty.
06:22Her AI is notoriously poor, leading her to wander into danger or get stuck in awkward
06:28spots, often resulting in her death and mission failure.
06:31People often reference Ashley from Resident Evil 4 as one of the most frustrating escorting
06:35AIs, but she has nothing on Natalia.
06:39Natalia is like Ashley if 10 minutes before you got to her, she was kicked by a horse.
06:44Players must protect her from relentless waves of enemies, while she performs tasks at an
06:48agonisingly slow pace, making the sequence feel more like a tedious babysitting job
06:53than an exciting 007 themed mission.
07:03Wrong Side of the Tracks
07:13Wrong Side of the Tracks is the 16th main mission in GTA San Andres and arguably the
07:18most rage-inducing mission in GTA history.
07:21It came fairly early and almost sent us back to Vice City.
07:25The concept is simple, you drive a motorcycle with big smoke as he chases a group of Vargas
07:29on a train, but what seems straightforward quickly turns into a nightmare.
07:34Few players completed it on their first try, and many who finally did were still tempted
07:38to throw their console out the window.
07:40It's one of those missions that is so terrible that seasoned players don't even blink when
07:44they beat it today, because they spent so much time on it back in 2004 that it's basically
07:51muscle memory now.
08:01Flying Machine
08:15The Flying Machine mission in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is widely disliked due to
08:18its clunky controls and forced gameplay shift, a theme that as we've already explained is
08:23a recipe for failure.
08:25The level design is restrictive, leaving little room for error, and the mission itself is
08:29short but frustratingly difficult.
08:31The sudden change in mechanics disrupts the game's flow, making the mission feel more
08:35like an unwelcome distraction than an exciting challenge.
08:39We welcome games to change things up, it's a great way to keep a game continually fresh,
08:44but maybe not Ubisoft.
08:46Stick to what you know.
08:55The Water Temple
08:59Is there any more famous, terrible level than the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time?
09:04I'll wait.
09:06The level begins in the central room of a massive temple, requiring players to constantly
09:10equip and unequip their iron boots while adjusting the water level to progress.
09:14Navigating the area becomes a tedious chore as the level offers minimal hints or guidance
09:19on where to go or how to proceed.
09:21The entire experience feels like a frustrating exercise in trial and error, or trial and
09:26error and scream and punch and turn off and go to bed angry and wake up and trial again
09:30and error and punch a hole in the wall.
