Cross Street Arts commemorate their 25th Anniversary, making it one of the longest running artist studios in the North West.  To celebrate the Standish-based studios and its members will be hosting a series of events, workshops and exhibitions across the borough.  They currently have an open air exhibition Cross Street Arts 25 in '24, featuring work by 23 artists, on display at the outdoor space outside Wigan Market.

00:00Hi, my name's Jane Firhurst and I've been at Cross Street for the last 25 years.
00:06I help to set Cross Street up and to become a charitable organisation.
00:10Basically we're a group of artists that have come together, mutually supportive
00:15and this year we're celebrating our 25th anniversary.
00:19We're going to have a number of exhibitions and workshops
00:23and different things happening throughout the next 12 months.
00:26We started with a gig last week at the Boulevard
00:29and here we've got this installation in the centre of town.
00:33We're just going to take it on from there.
00:35So we're really pleased that the Council of Supporters through Arts and Heritage,
00:39Neil Harris, has offered us this project here with the installation.
00:45Jo Kiney-Whitmore helped him to set up the boards
00:49and Matilda Augustinak, another of our members,
00:52she did the photographs and did the processing
00:55and we feel it's much more open to the public exhibition
00:59than if we had an exhibition in a gallery.
01:02Because a gallery can be a bit difficult for a lot of people to walk into
01:06whereas this is out on the street and anybody can come and have a look at it.
01:10And hopefully, I think it's on until sometime in December.
