00:00Why don't we hook up with my boy, Rich Cermonello.
00:05Hey, Scott, let's do a college football roundup for week three.
00:09I'm going to start with coaches.
00:11You and I talked in the offseason about who has the hottest seed.
00:15It was Billy Napier of Florida.
00:18That obviously hasn't changed.
00:19Big opening day loss to Miami.
00:21And then this past Saturday, Texas A&M in the swamp against a true freshman quarterback
00:28and Florida gets trucked by the Aggies.
00:32It's really just a matter of when, not if, Billy Napier is going to get fired.
00:37I think that happens during the regular season probably soon.
00:40So how about replacements?
00:42I think Florida has to go for a proven coach, preferably someone who has an offensive mindset
00:48and has had success in the SEC.
00:50Let me throw a few names out to you.
00:52I'm going to start with Jed Fish, a Florida alum.
00:56Reminds me a little bit of Pharrell in that he went to Florida specifically to learn from
01:01Steve Spurrier, much like you did at Indiana with Bob Knight.
01:06And then Fish has had success out in the Pac-12 with Arizona.
01:09Arizona obviously now with the Big 12.
01:12Three current SEC coaches to keep in mind.
01:14Number one, Kentucky's Mark Stube, 12 years in Lexington, turned a basketball school into
01:21a football school.
01:22Has done a great job.
01:23Good foundation builder in Kentucky.
01:26Number two, Eli Drinkwitz at Missouri.
01:30Offensive-minded coach.
01:31Done a great job with Mizzou.
01:32He's got them in the top 10, 41 years old.
01:36Very popular, excellent recruiter.
01:38I think he'd fit in at Florida.
01:40But the home run hire for the Gators right now is Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss.
01:45Go out and get Lane Kiffin.
01:47Anytime Florida's been great, anytime they've competed for national championships, it's
01:52been the offense.
01:53Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer, Kiffin I think would fit in perfectly.
01:59Great recruiter.
02:00Keep this in mind, Scotty, too.
02:01Whoever Florida hires has to first keep DJ Lagway from leaving Gainesville.
02:07You cannot afford to lose the franchise quarterback.
02:11I think Kiffin would be perfect.
02:13The portal king, I think he'd keep Lagway out of the portal.
02:16So a lot to watch on the coaching front.
02:19Week four, quickly, two games to watch.
02:22Tennessee at Oklahoma.
02:24Tennessee's been phenomenal so far this year.
02:27Tennessee, one of the six SEC teams ranked in the top seven going to Norman.
02:32Oklahoma has struggled so far this year, but they've got an opportunity to make a national
02:37statement.
02:38And then USC at Michigan.
02:39It kind of feels like New Year's Day, feels like Rose Bowl 1982.
02:44But instead, it's USC as a Big Ten game going to Michigan.
02:49Michigan's out of the national title picture.
02:50USC is not.
02:51They already have a ranked win against LSU in the opener, now have a chance to showcase
02:57that new defense and quarterback Miller Moss in Ann Arbor.
03:00If they pull off this win, two ranked wins in September, I think we have to start talking
03:06about Troy as a possible playoff, deep playoff run contender.
