00:00The group of manufacturers and sellers has increased the price of sardines and bread.

00:08How much and what is the DTI of Bernadette Reyes?

00:17Sardines is what Antonietta's family usually eats.

00:20This is affordable in budget, especially for her 8-year-old son.

00:31But the Canned Sardines Association of the Philippines is demanding up to 3 pesos extra for sardines

00:38that has not been given for several years.

00:41The minimum wage has increased.

00:53What we are asking for 3 pesos a day, about 2 years ago, was never granted.

01:04Aside from the sardine manufacturers, the sellers are also increasing their prices.

01:09According to the Filbaking Group,

01:11the price of Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pandesal has not increased for more than a year and a half

01:16even though their production costs have increased.

01:19According to the Department of Trade and Industry or DTI,

01:2260 products have a high price.

01:25Filbaking is asking for 5 pesos higher price for each pack of Pinoy Tasty.

01:305 pesos also for each pack of Pinoy Pandesal.

01:33The sellers are having a hard time subsidizing the abutkayang tinapay

01:38which is why the supply to the families is also decreasing.

01:42Based on our volume, we are subsidizing this product, Pinoy Tasty.

01:50The increase in sugar, labor cost, fuel, and time is high.

01:55We are asking for more supply because it will be a big loss for the bakeries.

02:02Because it is subsidized.

02:04Even for the community bakeries, they are having a hard time with the increasing production costs.

02:09Milk, coconut, niob, sugar, that's what's increasing.

02:14The size is still the same, only the price has increased.

02:17According to DTI, they are now studying the demand for a higher price from the manufacturers.
