00:00Your ticket, miss.
00:02Your ticket, madam.
00:04Your ticket, sir.
00:06Shall we?
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're visiting the lesser-known corners of S.T.A.R.S.
00:10Hollow as we take a look at some of the deleted scenes from Gilmore Girls that we wish had
00:15made the final edit.
00:17That looks good.
00:18Ah, you never settle on the first show.
00:21It makes you look desperate.
00:24Number 10.
00:25Playing catch-up.
00:26Ballrooms and biscotti.
00:28We're always happy to get more Lane Kim.
00:31Rory's best friend was there for her through thick and thin, but didn't always get the
00:35same support in return.
00:36So with Rory just back from Europe, this Lane-centric scene is welcome, even if her summer sounds
00:42a little less thrilling.
00:44We have to get ready for college, seven-day Adventist college that I'm going to go to
00:49for four whole years while I live at home with my mother.
00:51It's going to be very exciting.
00:53Am I smiling?
00:54During Season 4, Lane would visibly strain against her restrictive life, so there's nothing
00:59new here in that regard.
01:01It's true.
01:02But we do also get a brief mention of Lane's now-long-distance relationship with Dave.
01:06You know, he's going to be home at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
01:09Plus, we're working on a plan to get me out to California.
01:12Really?
01:13Yes, it's complicated.
01:14NATO is involved.
01:15You know what?
01:16It was never going to be easy, but we're convinced they could have made it work.
01:21After all, these two are nothing if not master logisticians.
01:24How about I have the guys take the usual route?
01:26I'll go by foot up each, down the alley behind Alice, over the fence, and they can pick me
01:29up a half-mile down by the Shell station.
01:31Perfect.
01:34Uh, what?
01:35That's not complicated.
01:36Number nine, Creative Solutions.
01:39The Great Stink.
01:40There's just something about a bonfire, isn't there?
01:43Brings out the best in people.
01:45Yeah, evokes such warm memories.
01:47Pep rallies, firelight festival.
01:50No Starz Hollow loves any excuse to throw an event.
01:53When rotting pickles flood the area with their stench, it's never fully wrapped up on screen.
01:59But this scene shows us how the locals were able to resolve the issue, with an impromptu
02:03celebration thanks to a brilliant idea from April.
02:07Well, it's just that flames of plasma that gives off a lot of free radicals, right?
02:11And the free radicals oxidize the bad-smelling air.
02:12It's like, why you let a match in the bathroom?
02:14Of course, no Starz Hollow affair would be complete without Taylor.
02:18He arrives on cue and on script to shut down the party with a technicality.
02:23Bonfires of all shapes and sizes are illegal unless the necessary permits are secured in
02:30advance from the proper authorities.
02:32Then again, one evening, I suppose we could make an exception.
02:39Honestly, this is the kind of gentle quirkiness that makes Gilmore Girls such great comfort
02:44watching and will always take more.
02:46Plus, though April often gets a bad rap, this scene leaves no doubt that she is truly
02:52a genius.
02:53Hey, I use Oreos instead of graham crackers.
02:55I call it S'moreos.
02:56Want to try?
02:58Of course.
02:59Number 8.
03:00Maximizing the chemistry.
03:02Love and war and snow.
03:03I think we should date.
03:04Why?
03:05Because I think we both want to.
03:07Well, I want to be in the bangles, which doesn't mean I quit my job and get a guitar and ruin
03:12my life.
03:13To be a bangle, does it?
03:14As smart and charming as he may be, Lorelai's reservations about seeing Max Medina are well-founded.
03:20After all, Lorelai has always been careful to keep a firm separation between her daughter
03:25and her love life.
03:26And dating Rory's English teacher would pretty much obliterate those boundaries.
03:31So it's a big deal when Lorelai and Max find themselves on the front porch of the Gilmore
03:35house.
03:36I've just never dated here in our house.
03:42What if I promised you that if you let me in, all I'm expecting is a cup of coffee?
03:48That's it.
03:49Any new relationship has an element of uncertainty that helps ratchet up the sexual tension.
03:54And though the chemistry between Lorelai and Max is palpable throughout the episode, the
03:59flirty banter in this cutscene has a transgressive quality that adds a tantalizing, smoldery
04:05edge to their courtship that we can't help but enjoy.
04:08Oh, well, that's my room.
04:10Ah.
04:12Is it big?
04:13Not bad.
04:14Any windows?
04:15Four.
04:16Curtains?
04:17Lace.
04:18Carpeting?
04:19Area rug.
04:20Futon?
04:21Bed.
04:22King?
04:23Queen.
04:24So you want…
04:25Some coffee?
04:267.
04:27Mini-vacation
04:28I can't get started
04:29Christopher doesn't have the best track record for being present at Rory's major moments,
04:31so it's a pleasant surprise when he shows up for her cast removal, and even nicer when
04:35he sticks around to celebrate afterwards.
04:37So how long can you stay?
04:39Hey, I am here for the day and I'm willing to take you anywhere you want to go.
04:43Italy.
04:44Where do I want to go?
04:45Italy.
04:46You want to go to Italy?
04:47You cannot coach her.
04:48In the episode that aired, Rory unfortunately had to cut family time short to work on her
04:53student government campaign, but this scene treats us to a fun, if brief, family vacation
04:58right in Star's Hollow.
05:00OK, see, this is so not Italy.
05:02I thought she hated miniature golf.
05:04What?
05:05Who could hate a dumbass sport like miniature golf?
05:06OK, I'm ready.
05:07After weeks of limited mobility, Rory is eager to do everything she wasn't able to while
05:12wearing a cast, even if she's never been interested in it before.
05:17It's nice to see this trio spending time together, even if Rory quickly remembers why mini-golf
05:22has never been her preferred pastime.
05:24OK, done with that.
05:25What, you don't want to do it again?
05:26Nope.
05:27In fact, I'm a little humiliated that I did it in the first place.
05:28Tell no one, please.
05:29My lips are sealed.
05:306.
05:31Family Portrait
05:32Emily in Wonderland.
05:33Are you OK?
05:34I guess putting on a walkway never occurred to your mother.
05:35Oh, actually, it occurs to her every day on the way to work.
05:36Here.
05:37Early episodes of Gilmore Girls highlighted Emily's overbearing tendencies.
05:38But when she spends the day in Star's Hollow with Rory, we start to see more dimension
05:39to her character.
05:40Lorelai originally left home at 17 with baby Rory in tow, cutting Richard and Emily out
05:41of her life almost completely.
05:42Scenes like this one, dropped from Emily in Wonderland, help to illustrate Emily's lasting
05:43homecoming.
05:44Rory and Rory have been together for a long time.
05:45Rory and Rory have been together for a long time.
05:46Rory and Rory have been together for a long time.
05:47Rory and Rory have been together for a long time.
05:48Rory and Rory have been together for a long time.
05:49How old were you here?
05:50I don't know, two maybe?
05:51You'd make a good pumpkin.
05:52Mom made that outfit, and she was so proud that she made me wear it for the next couple
05:53years until I grew out of it.
05:54Oh, yeah, her mom made that outfit for you.
05:55Yeah.
05:56Yeah, but I don't know how you and Rory met.
05:57No.
05:58Really?
05:59Why?
06:00Because you were on the show.
06:01Yes.
06:02I love you.
06:03I love you, too.
06:04I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
06:05I don't know.
06:06I love you.
06:07I love you.
06:08I love you.
06:09I'm sorry.
06:10I don't know.
06:11I don't know.
06:12You make a good pumpkin.
06:13I made a great pumpkin.
06:14I made a great pumpkin.
06:15that she made me wear it for the next couple years until I grew out of it."
06:20Yes, Will.
06:21Ever eager to bridge the divide, Rory asks Emily for a family portrait to add to the mantle.
06:27Raw feelings and still-simmering tensions with Lorelai cause her to hesitate at first,
06:32but in the end, she relents, foreshadowing the healing arc of the Gilmore family
06:36threaded across the series.
06:38Mom would want it too, even if she says she wouldn't.
06:40Well, if you really want it, I'll set it up.
06:46Great.
06:47Okay, let's go.
06:48Number 5.
06:49Pro-Con.
06:50Sadie Sadie.
06:51When facing a major life decision, it's best to have all the information.
06:55So, as Lorelai reels from Max's sudden proposal,
06:59Rory turns to her trusted pro-con list to help her mother make her choice.
07:03Funny, good cooking skills, excellent sugar tolerance,
07:07smells good, showers frequently, opens doors, pulls out chairs,
07:10saves kittens from burning buildings, cape and tights, and excellent shade of red.
07:14The data is clearly in Max's favor, but Lorelai is keen to avoid the subject altogether.
07:19Even though neither of them can think of a single real deal-breaker,
07:23she keeps defaulting to humor, rather than humor Rory.
07:26Rory, I'm not deciding whether or not I'm getting married off of a list.
07:30This is the most important decision in both of our lives, and we cannot take it lightly.
07:33So toss a coin or get out the crazy eight ball.
07:36Of course, we know she says yes, until she eventually says a very dramatic no.
07:41But this scene sets the stage for Lorelai's recurrent habit of making
07:45choices that look good on paper, even if they don't actually feel right.
07:50Even without a solid con, her reluctance should have made her true feelings clear.
07:554. Movie Night
08:07Say goodnight, Gracie.
08:09Nobody loves a good movie night more than a Gilmore Girl, featuring a range of titles as
08:13varied as the mountains of accompanying junk food. But when Richard and Emily get
08:19in on the act, they take it to entirely new heights.
08:22Oh my god!
08:27Ta-da!
08:27What did you do?
08:29We promised you movie night!
08:30Yes, but movie night at our house usually means a videotape and leftover Chinese food.
08:33Well, then it's time to shake things up a little, isn't it?
08:35Mansion Movie Night is predictably extra, with a uniformed usher and a rented projector,
08:41even if it doesn't seem to work properly. And the screening options are a hilarious example
08:46of the elder Gilmores trying to please Rory without fully understanding what they're in for.
08:51Crossroads, Glitter, and since I've heard you talk so much about it, Billy Jack.
08:56Wow!
08:57So, should we start with that one?
08:58Um, no, let's save that for, um, Crossroads sounds good.
09:02Yes, it does. Powerful.
09:03As over-the-top as it is, this scene is a sweet reminder of how much Richard and Emily
09:08enjoy their time with their granddaughter, and shows that Lorelai and Rory came by
09:13some of their whimsy naturally.
09:15I certainly hope you've turned your pager and cell phone off.
09:18Yes, we're very strict about that here.
09:20Most classy establishments are.
09:223. Girl Talk, There's the Rub
09:24One key turning point in the Geller-Gilmore relationship rollercoaster sees Paris lying
09:29about having a crush on Jess to defuse the fight between Rory and Dean. However,
09:33the situation is further unpacked in a scene cut from the final episode.
09:37Well, I don't usually invite people who annoy me to stay for dinner.
09:40I didn't invite him, he just wouldn't leave.
09:43You could have gotten rid of him if you really wanted to.
09:44I was just trying to be nice. I think you like him.
09:48We're used to seeing friction between this pair, so the relatable normalcy of this scene
09:53is a refreshing change of pace. But it also lets us see a softer side of Paris,
09:57who generally hides vulnerability behind an aggressive, high-achieving outer shell.
10:02I do not have two guys fawning over me.
10:05Fine. Two guys liking you.
10:07I do not have two guys liking me. I have one guy liking me.
10:10The other guy is just a friend. Not even a friend. He's just here.
10:14Well, I wouldn't mind having a here.
10:17While Rory's love life is the topic of discussion here,
10:20the real connection at center stage is the growing friendship between the two girls.
10:24Though Team Jess fans can take a moment to enjoy having one of the show's smartest characters
10:29on their side.
10:30He's unbelievably cute. And though his literary taste leaves a little to be desired,
10:35at least he has a literary taste.
10:37Number two. Friday night dinner.
10:39Forgiveness and stuff.
10:40I am tired of forcing you to do all those terrible things that infringe upon your life.
10:45And I do not have the energy to pretend that the way you treated me the other day was in
10:49any way acceptable.
10:50So you're uninviting me to Christmas dinner?
10:52Yes, I am.
10:53Fine.
10:54Fine.
10:55With the holidays approaching and Emily and Lorelai on the outs,
10:58Richard's heart attack comes at a moment that is already emotionally loaded.
11:02Though he pulls through, the experience definitely takes its toll on everyone.
11:07I can't remember the last time I felt so exhausted.
11:10It's been a pretty exciting night.
11:12I can do without so much excitement.
11:14After the scare they've had, Lorelai and Emily's feud seems inconsequential.
11:19And while sharing a mediocre meal in the hospital cafeteria,
11:22they are able to reset to a more cordial status quo.
11:26On the show, we see this reconciliation transpire through the simple act of Lorelai
11:31being present to support Emily. However, we wish we still had this great moment between them.
11:37With its subtle warmth and humor,
11:38it's a rare moment of connection between this pair, so often at odds.
11:43What?
11:44You just couldn't let me out of Friday night dinner, could you?

12:051. When One Door Closes
12:07Those are strings, Pinocchio.
12:09The Season 3 finale finds the Gilmore Girls facing big changes with Rory graduating high school,
12:15and Lorelai poised to start her own business. On the precipice of these new chapters, though,
12:20this scene gives them a moment to revisit their past,
12:24as they take one last walk through the recently closed Independence Inn.
12:28Hey, should we have brought a camera?
12:30No, I don't want to remember it like this.
12:32The property was the first home the mother and daughter shared,
12:35and as they prepared to move on forever,
12:37their past selves re-enact the previous life change they've weathered together.
12:41Took you a while to accept that our new house didn't come with a bellhop.
12:44I had very high standards.
12:48You're going to have your own room.
12:49But I don't want my own room.
12:50Just your books need their own room.
12:52The next era will see them separate as Rory goes off to college,
12:56adding a potent bitter sweetness to the nostalgia here.
12:59But it also reminds us how far our Gilmore Girls have come,
13:03and how far they'll go before the end.
13:05We're not going to be sad, right?
13:07No, we're too busy.
13:08Yeah, and we have too much not to be sad about.
13:10That we do.
13:11What scene do you wish you could have seen play out on Gilmore Girls?
13:14Is it one from the list, or one from your personal headcanon?
13:18Share it in the comments.
13:20Better pipe up, because I got nothing under cons.
13:23Okay, well, he's got a pair of elephant boxer shorts that are definitely a con.
13:29Do you agree with our picks?
