00:00Shh. Oh, shh. I like it. Shh. Shh. Oh, what the?"
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo. We love our Gilmore Girls around here, but we love the guys who love
00:13them too. Sometimes, anyway. But when they're wrong, we're not afraid to say so. Today,
00:18we'll be looking at the best and worst relationship moments from the most significant men in the
00:22Gilmore Girls world. We won't be including wannabe boyfriends, brief flings, or anyone
00:27who rates as almost perfect, like Dave Rogalski.
00:31I'm so writing him a song tonight.
00:37Zach Van Gerbig. Worst. Sinking Hep Alien's big chance. After years of grinding away in
00:43local gigs, it looks like Hep Alien's ship is finally coming in when they get the chance
00:47to play for a label rep. Unfortunately, this coincides with Zach's sudden insecurity about
00:52Brian and Lane's friendship.
00:54Hey, dude, that doesn't sound too bad. What is that?
00:56Oh, just a song I've been working on. I don't know if it's any good or not.
00:59Chords are good. Any lyrics?
01:00Some. It's called Lane.
01:01It's called Lane?
01:02Who, me, Lane?
01:03Yeah, we were talking about songs and Lane yesterday, and I just got inspired.
01:07Inspired, huh?
01:08Never mind that Lane has never given Zach any reason to doubt her. Maybe he just realizes
01:13what the audience has known all along, that she's too good for him, and this relationship
01:18never really made sense.
01:19What is wrong with you?
01:21Nothing. Why?
01:23You added a band member without telling us?
01:25Well, it's my band, right?
01:26No, actually, we're supposed to be a democracy.
01:29Is this coming from Brian?
01:30No, it's coming from me. I'm just... concerned.
01:32He shows up on the pivotal night with a major attitude, and proceeds to derail the performance
01:37with his antics, culminating in a physical fight. Worse, he remains unapologetic despite
01:42how heartbroken Lane is by the ruined opportunity. It should have spelled the end of Zach and
01:47Lane's relationship.
01:49Maybe this is why people in bands shouldn't date.
01:54Yeah.
01:59I guess so.
02:00Zach Van Gerbig. Best. Proving his love through song. When Lane inexplicably accepts Zach's
02:06sudden marriage proposal, there's only one obstacle left. Mrs. Kim. And her condition
02:11for agreeing to the union takes Zach by surprise.
02:13You write a hit, you get a record contract. You write a hit, you get representation. You
02:17write a hit, you become husband. Can you do it? Can you write a hit?
02:20I don't know. Maybe. I can try.
02:24Don't try. Do. Three and a half minutes tops and radio friendly.
02:28After 20 hours of nonstop work, Zach still hasn't been able to crack the elusive code
02:32on a hit song. However, when he proves willing to take Mrs. Kim's collaborative advice, he
02:37finally has a breakthrough.
02:39Now that is a hit song.
02:40It is. We wrote a hit song. Mrs. Kim, we wrote a hit song.
02:44Excellent. Now we go inside.
02:46This was a big turning point for Zach's character, showing him willing to be flexible and put
02:50his pride to the side for Lane's sake. And winning Mrs. Kim's approval is nothing to
02:54scoff at, either. Though, let's be clear, it's still not quite on the level of reading
02:58the whole Bible in one night.
02:59I myself have only done it three times. You need great determination and excellent light.
03:05I'm very impressed.
03:07Jason Stiles. Worst. Crashing the dragonfly opening. We'll start by throwing Jason a bone.
03:13His decision to sue Richard Gilmore was justified. But something like that does tend to put a
03:18strain on a relationship, and we can't fault Lorelai for ending things between them, either.
03:23Apparently, Jason doesn't see things our way, though.
03:25I stayed away. I gave you space.
03:26You gave me space. We broke up.
03:28Oh, I didn't look at it that way. I looked at it as a cooling off period.
03:31How very revisionist of you.
03:32His disregard for the facts of the situation? That's not great. But the bigger problem is
03:37how Jason refuses to respect Lorelai's boundaries.
03:40Please go. I will call you on Monday.
03:42I can't wait till Monday. It gives you too much time to talk yourself out of trying again.
03:45Well, first I would have to talk myself into trying again, so let's make it Tuesday.
03:48I'll wait till you're done.
03:48I'm not going to be done for two days.
03:50I'll wait till you take a break.
03:50I will not have a break for two days.
03:52This is a terrible job.
03:54Ambushing her at her place of work, especially during what he knows is a stressful weekend for
03:59her, is overbearing and inconsiderate, no matter how you spin it. It looks even worse when you
04:04consider how Lorelai, who tends to be a bit rigid, learned to be accommodating of Jason's needs
04:09throughout their relationship.
04:10Just remember, you like that I have little quirks.
04:14Okay.
04:15They're what make me, me.
04:17Jason Stiles. Best. First date.
04:20Then again, maybe the last scene between Lorelai and Jason was inevitable,
04:23considering how tireless he was in getting her to date him in the first place.
04:27Even then, Lorelai was not impressed with his idea of a good time.
04:31All the people and the noise, you can't even hear yourself think.
04:34But that's the point of coming to a place like this.
04:36I thought the point of coming to a place like this would be to enjoy the food and the atmosphere.
04:40Yes, but all of the atmosphere is out there.
04:43Trying to salvage the evening, Jason agrees to leave,
04:46and takes Lorelai for her favorite fast food instead.
04:49Except she refuses to eat when he declines to order any for himself.
04:53Finally, they wind up at a grocery store out of sheer desperation,
04:56where Jason proves he really will do anything to make Lorelai happy.
05:00It's just like heaven.
05:01Here, you want to do the honors?
05:04Feels so powerful.
05:06Their mismatches in taste indicate this relationship is not destined to last.
05:10But Jason's dogged efforts to give her a nice date are very endearing,
05:14as is the makeshift dinner they scrounge up together.
05:17A little ingenuity?
05:18It's too bad they stopped selling alcohol after 9.30.
05:20I mean, not that I need to be drunk to have dinner with you.
05:23Oh, the fun flask.
05:26Excuse me?
05:27I swiped the fun flask.
05:30Dean Forrester.
05:31Worst.
05:32Cheating with Rory.
05:33From his increasingly pronounced jealous streak to his habit of dumping Rory publicly,
05:37Dean has a few low points to contend with,
05:40but nothing beats this one for recklessness or collateral damage.
05:43I'm sorry.
05:44You are?
05:46I'm sorry you're not happy.
05:48I'll be happy again.
05:50Things happen for a reason.
05:53As Rory struggled to adjust to college and Dean found his hasty marriage to Lindsay to
05:57be increasingly unsatisfying, the two exes were slowly drawn back together over the course of
06:02Season 4. By the time they're alone in Rory's bedroom, it's like watching a slow-motion train
06:07crash as we witness them both dismiss his relationship and give in to their worst impulses.
06:12I can't believe this is... that we're...
06:17I can.
06:22Rory would go on to try and justify this behavior,
06:25but even though Dean eventually comes to his senses, there's no excusing his actions here.
06:30I hurt everybody. I hurt Lindsay, I hurt her parents, I hurt my parents,
06:34and now I'm back at home and you're in Europe with your grandmother and...
06:37and what the hell was I thinking? I mean, what am I doing? What's wrong with me?
06:41Dean Forrester. Best. Being the perfect date.
06:44Back in A Simpler Time, Dean is just the cute boy from the market,
06:48and Rory is just the teenage girl nervous about asking him to her school dance.
06:52You want to go, don't you?
06:53No, I don't. I have no desire to go at all. I was just thinking out loud, that's all.
06:57The worry is for nothing, though. The Chilton formal isn't his scene,
07:01but he is seemingly happy to just be spending the evening with his new girlfriend.
07:05What do you think? Too tall?
07:06Not in heels.
07:07Good.
07:08Although the saddle shoes make it kind of difficult.
07:10I'll just have to stoop then.
07:11I guess so. Okay. I'm bored.
07:14From banishing the mean girls to sweet slow dancing,
07:17Dean is dream date material throughout the episode.
07:20He won't even let Tristan spoil the night,
07:22holding his ground while refusing to be goaded into a fight.
07:25We know that puppy love isn't enough to go the distance for these two,
07:29but in those early days, Dean gave us a moment right out of our teenage dreams.
07:34Hey.
07:35What?
07:36Thank you for tonight. It was perfect.
07:39You're welcome.
07:43Jackson Belleville. Worst. Lying about his vasectomy.
07:47With the season five birth of their second child,
07:50Suki and Jackson have completed the all-American family.
07:53And Suki, for one, wants to make absolutely certain that they remain a quartet.
07:57You're getting a vasectomy.
07:59What?
07:59You're getting a vasectomy.
08:02You got me. You got me. You're funny. Dark. But funny.
08:07I'm not joking, sweetie.
08:08Now she definitely should have discussed this with Jackson rather than springing it on him,
08:12but we cannot justify the way he responded.
08:15Oh, so she says go get a vasectomy and I'm just supposed to go get a vasectomy?
08:18Well, no, you shouldn't do it if you didn't want to do it,
08:19but if you didn't want to do it, you should have told her you didn't want to do it.
08:21I didn't see the point. Now I see the point.
08:24Suki's inevitable pregnancy finally forces Jackson to confess that he never got the procedure,
08:30which she takes about as well as one might expect.
08:32No.
08:33You can't just order someone to go get a vasectomy.
08:36No, you don't have to just be really quiet right now.
08:39Like it's a haircut.
08:40Don't speak. Don't breathe. Don't even look at me.
08:43To be clear, this entire issue deserves a calm, mature discussion between both parties,
08:48but Jackson keeping a secret that had huge implications for their family
08:52and for Suki's health definitely makes him come off worse of the two.
08:55What am I supposed to do? Start watching him brush his teeth?
08:58Does he want me to start cutting his meat?
08:59I don't think he wants his meat cut at all.
09:01Well, how could he do this?
09:03Well, I guess he didn't really want to have a vasectomy.
09:05Well, then tell me.
09:06I agree.
09:08Jackson Belleville. Best. The Basket Buyout.
09:11Okay, on closer inspection, Jackson and Suki may have always had some communication issues,
09:16like when Jackson didn't know how to ask Suki to move in with him,
09:19and Suki didn't realize he wanted her to.
09:21So, um, I guess I'll go re-up my lease then.
09:24Sounds good.
09:25Yeah. Sounds good.
09:27Thinking she wasn't serious about him, Jackson refuses to bid at the town basket auction,
09:32letting Suki's lunch date go to Kirk instead.
09:34However, once they finally talk honestly about their insecurities,
09:38it's clear how much in love they really are.
09:41And you might get sick of me.
09:42Oh, you might get sick of me.
09:43No, that's not gonna happen.
09:45Well, if that's not gonna happen, then what's the problem?
09:49The problem is that Kirk is gonna eat my goat cheese basket.
09:53Not if I have anything to say about it.
09:55Of course, Jackson still has to go through Kirk to get the basket back.
09:58But the whole chain of events helps him figure out what he really wants,
10:02and proves that Jackson can make himself clear in pretty adorable fashion.
10:06I'm sorry, you don't think we should live together anymore?
10:09Nope.
10:10Okay.
10:11I think we should get married.
10:13What?
10:16I think we should get married.
10:19But, uh, but...
10:21Soon.
10:22Max Medina.
10:23Worst.
10:23Proposing as a power play.
10:25What's a good indication that a couple should have stayed broken up?
10:28Maybe if they can't even get out of the house for their second first date without tension breaking out.
10:33Luke will talk later.
10:34Yes, we will.
10:35Although probably not tonight.
10:36We won't be back until late.
10:38No, I meant not tonight.
10:39Oh, I misunderstood.
10:41I meant tomorrow.
10:42So tomorrow.
10:43Absolutely.
10:44Max instantly turns possessive after encountering Luke at the Gilmore house.
10:48He makes incorrect assumptions about his relationship to Lorelai,
10:51before throwing his own interim dating experiences in her face to make her jealous.
10:55Well, I like your honesty.
10:56Because, I mean, you could have lied and left that part out to spare my feelings,
11:00which would have been unnecessary.
11:01So thank you.
11:01That was good.
11:02I slept with Rory's dad.
11:04Let's change the subject.
11:05Lorelai at least sees the writing on the wall.
11:07But in response to her suggestion that they break up again,
11:10Max takes an unhinged left turn.
11:12We should get married.
11:14Give me a clue as to whether you're kidding or not.
11:17I am not kidding.
11:20Good clue.
11:21Nothing about this feels organic or in good faith.
11:24More like a transparent attempt to mark his territory.
11:27Lorelai calls it for what it is.
11:29But however Max denies it,
11:30it still feels manipulative.
11:32A proposal has to be something more than the desperate desire to end a bickering match.
11:37It was more than that.
11:38Oh, it has to be planned.
11:41It should be magical.
11:45Max Medina.
11:46Best.
11:47Cafe banter.
11:48Max and Lorelai's courtship started with the lure of forbidden fruit.
11:52His role as Rory's literature teacher instantly complicates any potential attraction.
11:56But while that initially gives Lorelai pause,
11:58he proves to be persuasive enough to get her to consider him.
12:02We are...
12:03Is?
12:03Of similar heights.
12:04Wow, round one and already tapped.
12:07Okay, maybe not.
12:08At first it looks like Lorelai will handily lap Max in a battle of wits.
12:12Except he proves to be a surprisingly quick study.
12:14If you're telling me what you think I want to hear,
12:16then I'm not really getting to know you.
12:17But if I know what you want to hear,
12:19that shows a level of understanding on my part that far exceeds your understanding of me.
12:24Who's the one legging?
12:26Whether he's right or whether Lorelai simply recognizes a worthy opponent,
12:30she agrees to go on a date,
12:31and their relationship blossoms afterwards.
12:34True, it ends badly, not once, but twice.
12:36And it's rife with issues.
12:38But chemistry was never one of them.
12:40We can appreciate that in different circumstances,
12:43Max might have been a perfect partner to the formidable Lorelai Gilmore.
12:47Just let me get it's size and I promise you'll never have to take it off again.
12:51In fact, I'm going to insist on it.
12:53Richard Gilmore.
12:54Worst.
12:55Leaving Emily out of the loop.
12:57At their best, Emily and Richard Gilmore are a perfectly matched team.
13:01But whether it's a generational shortcoming or plain old hubris,
13:04Richard also has an unfortunate tendency of keeping Emily in the dark about certain matters.
13:09Oh, are you retired, Richard?
13:11Well, uh...
13:13Of course he's not, Richard.
13:16Richard?
13:18Actually, I am.
13:19His early retirement represents a consequential shift in their lives,
13:22which he neglected to prepare her for.
13:25However, a worse breach of trust comes when Emily discovers that Richard
13:28has continued to see his college sweetheart on a yearly basis for decades.
13:32Penny Lynn and I are just friends.
13:34We just wanted to keep track of each other.
13:36That was it.
13:38So you've lied to me for the last 39 years?
13:40Well, she didn't tell Stephen.
13:42It was only lunch.
13:43Only lunch.
13:44Yes.
13:45Incidents like these stack up across the first half of the show,
13:48with a noticeable effect on Emily's mental state over time.
13:51Feeling increasingly undervalued,
13:53she eventually reaches a breaking point that leads to a dramatic separation between the pair.
13:58The woman you married was your partner.
14:00You listened to her.
14:00You consulted with her.
14:01You respected her.
14:03So you are right, Richard.
14:04I am definitely not the woman you married.
14:06Richard Gilmore.
14:07Best.
14:08My name is Bill.
14:09Whatever faults he has, Richard is not stupid.
14:12It doesn't take long before he realizes the error of his ways,
14:15and the Gilmores reunite, marking the occasion with a lavish vow renewal.
14:19Here, Richard proves he really has learned when he chooses an obscure
14:23favorite song of Emily's from decades ago as their first dance.
14:26Emily would tease me, saying,
14:28If only your name was Bill, then this could be our song.
14:31Well, Emily, for tonight, and tonight only, my name is Bill, and this is our song.
14:39Considering how invisible Emily was feeling prior to the separation,
14:43this song is indeed the perfect note for their next chapter.
14:46It proves that Richard is willing to notice and celebrate the details important to his partner.
14:51We should separate more often.
14:52Oh, bite your tongue.
14:54We never really had any doubt about the depth of the love between these two, of course.
15:00Season one laid the groundwork with an emotional promise from Richard to Emily
15:04that still gets us every time.
15:06I did not sign on to your dying, and it is not going to happen,
15:09not tonight, not for a very long time.
15:12In fact, I demand to go first.
15:14Do I make myself clear?
15:17Yes, Emily.
15:19You may go first.
15:20Jess Mariano.
15:21Worst.
15:22The house party.
15:23From the beginning, Jess had issues with boundaries,
15:26often making Rory downright uncomfortable in his pursuit of her.
15:29Even once they were officially a couple,
15:31his mercurial temperament keeps her consistently off balance.
15:35Let's go, let's get out of here.
15:36Go where?
15:36Anyone.
15:37It's early.
15:37It's boring.
15:38Jess, we can't just go.
15:40Yes, we can.
15:41The band's playing a whole other set.
15:42They can do it without us.
15:43I don't want to leave.
15:44Now come on, try to have fun, talk, mingle.
15:47Upset about having to repeat his senior year, and unwilling as ever to communicate,
15:52Jess retreats from the party to brood in private.
15:55When Rory follows to comfort him, he pushes to take things further,
15:58ignoring her repeated protestations.
16:01Jeez.
16:01Not here, not now.
16:03Fine.
16:03What's wrong with you?
16:04Nothing is wrong with me.
16:06Someone could walk in that door.
16:07And Santa Claus could come down the chimney, whatever.
16:09This isn't just a low point for Jess,
16:11but arguably the worst moment for any guy on the series.
16:14And made even more appalling by the fact that he lashes out and blames Rory.
16:18Rory, stop, just stop.
16:20I did not invite you up here.
16:21You came up here on your own.
16:26I don't know what I did.
16:29You didn't do anything.
16:30He immediately regrets his actions.
16:32But this is the kind of thing we find hard to forgive, and will certainly never forget.
16:37Jess Mariano.
16:39Best.
16:39A push in the right direction.
16:41One thing we can say for Jess is that he was always supportive of Rory's Ivy League goals.
16:46And unlike Dean, he never saw them as prohibitive to their relationship.
16:50You still going to Yale?
16:51Yes, I am.
16:52It's got all the classes I want and some really great teachers.
16:54And plus, you know, as an added bonus, it's really close to here.
16:57Only 2.8 miles.
16:59How'd you know that?
16:59Do you Yahoo?
17:01You looked it up.
17:02Yeah?
17:03You looked it up.
17:04He did, of course, beg her to drop out of college a year later to run away with him.
17:08But in the long term, Jess realized Rory was right to say no.
17:11Which is why he reacted so strongly to discovering later that she had left school all the same.
17:17I know you.
17:17I know you better than anyone.
17:19This isn't you.
17:20I don't know.
17:21What are you doing?
17:22Living at your grandparents' place?
17:23Being in the DAR?
17:25No Yale?
17:25Why did you drop out of Yale?
17:27Rory was slowly realizing this mistake on her own.
17:30But Jess's outburst gave her the last push she needed to get her life back on track.
17:34As problematic as he could be, Jess's honesty in this moment reveals a genuine
17:39concern for Rory and her future that was undeniably impactful.
17:43Maybe we'll catch up in a better time.
17:51Christopher Hayden.
17:53Worst.
17:54Interrupting Friday night dinner.
17:55Just when it looked like Christopher and Lorelai were finally ready to be together,
17:59he found out his girlfriend was pregnant.
18:01It's a devastating blow for them, but they both accept there's no way to move forward as a couple.
18:06Or so we thought, anyway.
18:08What are you doing here?
18:09You won't return my calls.
18:10Did you do this?
18:11I knew you'd be here.
18:11I did not do this.
18:12You gave me no choice.
18:13After I told you to just stay out of it.
18:15Lorelai, I did not do this.
18:16You have to go.
18:17I'm not going until you talk to me.
18:19Christopher's desperate attempt to force a conversation with Lorelai is the ultimate
18:23selfish act.
18:24He is deep in his feelings, and he decides to make that everyone's problem.
18:28I didn't want things to turn out this way.
18:29But they did turn out this way.
18:31But I didn't want that.
18:33Christopher, is Sherry still pregnant?
18:35Of course she is.
18:36Are you still with her?
18:37Yes.
18:37Are you gonna marry her?
18:39Yes.
18:39Then honey, we are where we are.
18:42Accept it.
18:43I can't.
18:43Looking for pity and comfort, Chris never stopped to consider how his actions might
18:48impact the women around him.
18:49He uses love as an excuse to make this awful situation entirely about himself,
18:54displaying cringeworthy disrespect for Sherry,
18:57and a callous disregard for the feelings of either Rory or Lorelai.
19:01It hurts talking to you.
19:02Really hurts.
19:03Standing here right now is killing me, okay?
19:06Don't you understand that?
19:07Christopher, I think you'd better go now.
19:10Emily, I-
19:11Leave now.
19:13Please.
19:13Christopher Hayden.
19:14Best.
19:15Finally in Paris.
19:16You're coming with me.
19:17Oh, I am?
19:18Yep.
19:19I'm sleeping on a bench?
19:20Okay, how's that picture look to you?
19:21Because to me it looks like a big no.
19:22Fine, you we get a room for, and then I'll just sleep on the bench outside.
19:26Much better arrangement.
19:27As teenagers, Lorelai and Christopher talked about traveling to Europe together after high school,
19:32and though life intervened, they did eventually make it to Paris.
19:35Is the tour to France still going on?
19:37Because we could stand on a little Paris street and yell, woohoo!
19:39The trip gets off to a bumpy start when jet lag causes them to miss their dinner reservation,
19:44and they're forced to wander the streets trying to find food.
19:47Luckily, Christopher remembers he can use his recent inheritance to grease some wheels.
19:51Cool.
19:52Right?
19:53And I was prepared to do other things to get you fed.
19:55I mean, I had backup plans that included theft and chicanery.
19:58Oh, chicanery for me?
20:00Anything for you.
20:02Anything.
20:03Throughout the episode, we see why Lorelai and Chris are so good together.
20:07Their banter is unmatched,
20:08and their long history gives them an understanding of one another that is rare.
20:12This gesture doesn't feel like a stunt, but a heartfelt attempt to realize an old dream.
20:17Chris carried a torch for Lorelai for a long time,
20:20and his sincere devotion on display here is touching.
20:23I'd still sleep on a park bench with you.
20:26Name the bench.
20:27Logan Huntsberger.
20:29Worst.
20:29An aggressive third wheel.
20:31Few people would take it well if they found their significant other meeting up with an
20:35ex behind their backs, so we can understand Logan's sour feelings.
20:39But that doesn't make the way he handled the encounter with Rory and Jess any better.
20:43We were just gonna go grab a bite to eat.
20:45Great, well how about if we all go together, is that okay?
20:47Okay by me.
20:48Good.
20:49All right.
20:51Good.
20:52We were actually at a loss for where to go, so you actually saved us.
20:56Call me Superman, why don't you follow us?
20:58Forcing himself in on their reunion, Logan is completely insufferable,
21:02dangling his wealth and privilege in a way that just feels gross.
21:05He makes his intent to insult even more blatant when he starts challenging Jess' intellect.
21:10He wrote a book.
21:11Oh, you penned The Great American Novel, Jess?
21:13Wasn't quite that ambitious.
21:14So what are we talking here, short novel, Kafka-length, or longer?
21:17Dos Passos, Dos Toy, or longer?
21:19Robert Musso, Proust?
21:21I'm not throwing you any of these names, am I?
21:23You seem very obsessed with length.
21:24We'll give Jess credit and say it shows a lot of growth that he didn't take the bait here,
21:28but of all the sides Logan showed during his time on the series,
21:32this is by far his least attractive.
21:34Writers are so sensitive.
21:36You are a jerk, Logan.
21:38I was just challenging him, geez.
21:40Hey, if Hemingway could take it, so can he.
21:42Logan Hunsberger.
21:43Best.
21:44Saving the paper.
21:45Are these proofed?
21:46Yeah, but they're not typed in yet.
21:47I'll do that, it'll be faster.
21:48I type 90 words a minute.
21:49You do?
21:50You really did only like me for my looks, huh?
21:52Logan first got us swooning with his literal call to adventure in the iconic You Jump,
21:56I Jump, Jack, but arguably his finest moment comes when he finds the Yale Daily News in
22:01crisis following Paris' meltdown.
22:03You hate it here.
22:04So what?
22:04I know this crap backwards and forwards.
22:05I can't believe you didn't even think to call me.
22:08Well, I'm sorry, I just didn't think you were interested.
22:11Well, then I guess you don't know everything now, do you?
22:12So come on, what do you got here?
22:14With the paper's integrity on the line, he swings into action to help Rory,
22:18offering a sharp skill set, fresh material, and valuable management suggestions.
22:22And when it looks like all the staff's hard work might be in vain,
22:26he buys them time to get to the finish line.
22:28It's all there, man.
22:29What? What's happening?
22:35You got it? All right, great. It's been great speaking with you, too. I'll tell my father. Bye.
22:39And that's how we do it at the Daily News!
22:43Not only does this show us how much Logan has been holding back behind his slacker facade,
22:48it proves that he and Rory are more than a good couple. They're a true partnership.
22:52They support and compliment each other perfectly. And together, there's nothing they can't do.
22:59Boy, when you're on.
23:09Luke Daines. Worst. Keeping April from Lorelai.
23:13Discovering you have a 12-year-old kid? Yeah, that would rock anyone's world.
23:17But Luke has never been great with change to begin with, and as he struggles to adapt,
23:22he puts a firm separation between his daughter, April, and the rest of his life.
23:26But when Lorelai meets April in the diner, worlds collide.
23:29I just found out.
23:30Just? When just? She's in there filling salt shakers. It doesn't feel that new to me.
23:35Two months ago.
23:37Two months? That's a hell of a long time to go without telling me.
23:40Lorelai is remarkably understanding, all things considered.
23:43However, Luke doubles down on his poor handling of the situation
23:47when he reiterates his intention to keep her out of April's orbit.
23:50Luke.
23:51She'll like you better. That is just a fact.
23:53No, you're her dad.
23:54Yes, I am her dad, and this is the way I want it to be.
23:58It's clear Luke is overwhelmed, but rather than let his partner help him manage those feelings,
24:03he makes unilateral decisions that lock her out of the equation entirely.
24:07And when he asks to postpone their wedding,
24:09it causes Lorelai to doubt their entire relationship.
24:12I'm trying.
24:13Well, try married.
24:14Just wait.
24:15No, I'm not waiting. It's now or never.
24:17I don't like ultimatums.
24:19I don't like Mondays, but unfortunately they come around eventually.
24:22I can't just jump like this.
24:23Well, I'm sorry to hear that.

24:41Luke Daines.
24:42Best.
24:43The going away party.
24:44Luke fell for Lorelai at first sight, but what ultimately made him endgame was how much he loved
24:49Rory as well.
24:50With the clock rapidly ticking down on her last days in Star's Hollow,
24:54this man who hated every event the town ever hosted,
24:58went into overdrive to throw her an epic going away party.
25:01All right, we're gonna need chairs and tables and volunteers
25:04to set them up around the gazebo, okay?
25:05We're all gonna get started in the square tonight after dark, okay?
25:08Okay!
25:09Luke oversees every step of the planning and execution
25:12while also managing to keep the party a secret from the Gilmore Girls.
25:16And when rain threatens to thwart their efforts,
25:18he's ready with a plan B.
25:20He went around and collected everybody's tarps and tents and raincoats,
25:24and I don't know how he did it.
25:26I mean, he must have stayed up all night doing this.
25:29While he's not always great at expressing himself,
25:32Luke is at his best when he can show his love.
25:35The party was the grandest of grand gestures,
25:37allowing him to declare his true feelings for Lorelai in terms far deeper than any words.
25:43I just like to see you happy.
25:58Which Gilmore Guy moment makes you swoon?
26:01Which makes you rage?
26:02Pour yourself some coffee and tell us about it in the comments.
26:05How many cups have you had this morning?
26:07None.
26:07Plus?
26:08Five, but yours is better.
26:10You have a problem.
26:11Yes, I do.
26:12Do you agree with our picks?
