00:00The Department of Migrant Workers has opened thousands of opportunities for those who want to become marines.

00:07This is the latest mega job fair that is part of the 25th National Maritime Week and 29th National Seafarers Day.

00:19BN Manalo is in the center of the news.

00:21Jimmy Reyes came home from Dubai last January. He worked as a staff in a cleaning company for more than two years.

00:35He is a single mom, so he agreed to give his two children a better life.

00:42And when he found out that the Department of Migrant Workers has a mega job fair, he did not miss the opportunity to apply and become a marine.

00:52Jimmy's target is to apply as a yacht steward.

00:55The salary in the Philippines is not enough.

00:58If you are thinking of a better opportunity for your family, the best option is to work abroad.

01:05We are very thankful to DMW for this opportunity. This is a big help for us OFWs.

01:13Jimmy is one of the thousands of applicants who applied for the Department of Migrant Workers' Mega Job Fair in Pasay City.

01:22This is part of the 25th National Maritime Week and 29th National Seafarers Day.

01:30More than 30 license-manning agencies are part of the job fair.

01:34More than 3,000 jobs are included in the maritime industry.

01:46Here in the new Philippines of our beloved President, the socio-economic transformation will bring our service closer to you.

01:54Pre-employment and Anti-Illegal Recruitment Orientation Seminar, Welfare and Legal Assistance, and other reintegration programs are also included in the agency.

02:05Remember that the Magna Carta or Filipino Seafarers in Congress has a duty to protect the Philippine seafarers

02:13from entering the maritime school until they retire from their profession.

02:19The office of the President will have an announcement about this.

02:26The signing ceremony for this Magna Carta will also be held.

02:33That is why the 29-year-old K. Sherman Lansinga is very thankful to the DMW

02:40because of the opportunity given to those like him who want to return to the sea.

02:45I applied here hoping to fulfill my dream for my family.

03:05The agency will continue to provide welfare services to distress or overseas Filipino workers.

03:14In fact, the agency has a 2.8 billion pesos action fund for legal, financial, and medical assistance for seafarers who need help.

03:27According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration or POEA,

03:32the Philippines is recognized as the world's main supplier of sea-based workers since 1987

03:40and has become the world's money capital.

03:44Currently, there are more than 200,000 Filipino seafarers around the world

03:49who make up more than 25% of the 1.5 million marines in the world.
