00:00Devotees in Naga City have gathered this evening for the fluvial procession of Our Lady of Peña Francia.

00:07This year's celebration is even more special because it is the 100th canonical celebration of Peña Francia.

00:19Emil, despite the heavy rain, the devotees of Peña Francia did not stop here in Naga City.

00:31Early in the morning, the devotees of Our Lady of Peña Francia came here to St. John the Evangelist Metropolitan Cathedral in Naga City.

00:40Many came from faraway places.

00:44Their prayers and stories are about the Mother of Peña Francia.

00:49I had cancer in 1986-87.

00:53Every time we put flowers on her feet, I whispered to her,

01:16This year's celebration is even more special because it is the 100th canonical celebration of Peña Francia.

01:32Canonical coronation is a special recognition given by Rome.

01:37Usually there are two requirements, antiquity and miracles.

01:41Antiquity because it should have passed the test of time.

01:44And in 1920, when the petition was made for canonical coronation, the devotion was already more than 200 years old.

01:51So it passed.

01:52Early in the morning, the fluvial procession is expected to start.

01:58It is not the same every year because it depends on the water level in the Naga River.

02:04If the water level is too high at the peak of the high tide,

02:09we will not be able to pass under the bridge of Colgante and Panganiban.

02:13If the water level is too low at the low tide, the pagoda will be destroyed.

02:18It will not advance.

02:19So we observe the tide in between.

02:24From the cathedral, the Pagoda will ride the Mother of Peña Francia

02:28to carry the Naga River back to the Basilica Wharf or Landingan.

02:35To those who will jump into the river during the procession,

02:38in the belief that the river is blessed when the Mother of Peña Francia is passing by,
