00:00and talking CONCACAF it is very very important to talk about two new coaches
00:08that will be giving it all or trying to give it all for their respective
00:12countries Marcelino Ortiz with us once again compa welcome back but we have
00:17two coaches that have been in a center stage in Europe around the world and now
00:22they get a chance to coach in CONCACAF Mauricio Pochettino on one hand with
00:27the US men's national team Javier Elvasco Aguirre for the third time with
00:31Mexico what are your thoughts of these new two guys taking the helm of these
00:35countries I think that for me it shows clearly what it's different from the US
00:40national team and the Mexican national team Mexico for decades now has been
00:44looking into the past to bring the solution to a problem that is in its
00:49lowest performance level that we've seen in a Mexican team in a long time when it
00:54comes down to this rivalry we're talking about classicals the CONCACAF
00:57classical US versus Mexico and then we see the US a team that as an
01:02organization has been improving constantly year after year trying to
01:06professionalize the pathway to the national team bringing as we see now top
01:12coaches believing in the European style of play believing in a pipeline of
01:17American players in Europe as soon as possible so they form over there now the
01:22US has dozens upon dozens of players available now Mexico is catching up to
01:27that and we hope that Vasco has some blast from the past to see if we can
01:33catch up yeah taking it back to the US I mean there's some success with local
01:37coaches from Steve Samson to Bob Bradley to Bruce Arena unfortunately the
01:42Gregor Benhalter era did not end as we thought it could but now they bring
01:47another international coach in Mauricio Pochettino I don't know how that's
01:51gonna work out let's see if that gives the US that boost that's needed I mean
01:56when when I came first came to this country before I moved here I wanted to
02:00move here there was the mid late 90s I thought the US is gonna win a World Cup
02:05in 30 years the infrastructure the finances although the backing from the
02:10Federation but I think that development has not been what we expected it to be a
02:15few years later definitely I think that we are falling a little bit short of the
02:19expectation that people had on the US team also we have to you know put things
02:24in perspective the American fan is used to having some of the most dominating
02:30teams in other sports so not to have it but if you see on the side of the women's
02:35team a team that has dominated at the national level for decades a very
02:40interesting link happens now we are living on the era of the United States
02:44of Chelsea because both the men's national team and the women's national
02:50team are being led by former Chelsea coaches which is very very interesting
02:55to see a couple of coaches that have worked in the past together and in the
03:00same club in the women and men's side now they're gonna do the same with the
03:04United States I think that this is a clear message from the US soccer that
03:10they are looking to have a great performance in the World Cup this is a
03:14great statement for the US and I think it puts them ahead of the of Mexico in
03:17the CONCACAF
