00:00So, what's going on?
00:20What should we do today?
00:22Don't we have a camp to run?
00:23Oh, I suppose.
00:24You know, I'm just not feeling very motivated today.
00:28I need something to light a fire in my ass.
00:30Well, I can get behind that.
00:32I know just the guy.
00:34But first I'm going to need to do some stretches.
00:40Camp Winnikiki, where indoor plumbing goes to die.
00:42How may I help you?
00:43Hey, Cherry Girl.
00:44It's me.
00:45Limber Book from down here at the library.
00:46Oh, hi, honey.
00:47What's shaking?
00:48Girl, I got some news.
00:49Child, I've been laid off.
00:50Oh, my.
00:51Oh, dear.
00:52When did this happen?
00:53What?
00:54What happened?
00:55Linda's been laid.
00:56Oh, well.
00:57Good for her.
00:58I didn't know she still had it in her.
00:59Wait, it's still in her?
01:00Oh, oh, I see.
01:01Off.
01:02Linda's been laid off.
01:03Listen, Linda, let me put you on speaker.
01:08You know those folks have been complaining about Drag Star Hour.
01:18You know those folks who've been complaining about Drag Story Hour.
01:22Well, honey, they stormed the Tri-County board meeting last night
01:26and managed to get enough votes to ban all the books.
01:29Girl, half of those Neanderthals don't even know how to read.
01:32Anyway, when I refused to remove the books,
01:35honey, they fired me and emptied all the shelves at the library.
01:39What the nerve! Believe it!
01:41Girl, I'm so mad right now, I could probably refuse a cocktail.
01:45What books did they ban?
01:47Take your pick, honey. They banned all the books.
01:50They said if a drag queen had been anywhere near a book,
01:53that it was unsafe for children.
01:55Child, the bookshelves are as empty as a discount wig store on Pride Weekend.
02:00Who are these Tri-County board people, anyway?
02:03I'll tell you who, a bunch of stupid two-faced
02:06that tell everybody else what to do when they're the ones that
02:09go through their browser history,
02:12and I bet a bunch of hypocrites.
02:17If only there was a way we could get some new children's books,
02:20then maybe we could organize a new story hour.
02:23Girl, we just can't let them morons win.
02:26Yes, you stay strong, Linda. Help is on the way.
02:29Oh, thank you, girls.
02:31I knew if there was anybody who knew what it felt like to be ignored
02:34or taken for granted, it would be you two.
02:38Ooh, that burns me up.
02:40Well, there's your fire, Betty.
02:42But honestly, you should lay off the chalupa.
02:45You know what this means, Terry.
02:47Yes, a Betty crusade.
02:49That's right. Let's go.
02:52Oh, dear. Maybe I should grab the bail money jar.
03:16BIRDS CHIRP
03:35Hi, Boston drag scene.
03:37It's me, Patty Bure from drag.
03:41Listen, I went to camp and everyone realized I was a bitch
03:44right away. Maybe the problem is me after all?
03:47Nah, it's society.
03:50Of course, not everyone can always get along
03:52in a group of beautiful narcissists,
03:54but I hope you all know how truly grateful I am
03:57to have been in community with you over the last five years.
04:00You've inspired me, cheered me on,
04:02and even roasted me a little bit from time to time.
04:05I know I wouldn't be the aggressively blonde artist I am today
04:08without all of you.
04:10We share each other's hardships and successes.
04:13Except for me winning Camp Wanakiki.
04:15I did that by my fucking self.
04:17Just kidding. Don't be mad at me.
04:19Love, Patty Bure.
04:34Dear House of Mask and Pets,
04:37Camp has been fantastic and I'm so happy to be here.
04:40It has been wet and wild and a bit of a circus at times,
04:44but we keep it real at Camp Wanakiki.
04:46I can't believe I'm in the top four!
04:48I've also met some amazing friends along the way.
04:51Hannah is the kindest of all of us
04:53and would give the fur off your back if you ask nicely.
04:56Patty is not a bitch, pass it on,
04:59but has a heart and soul
05:01and shows amazing dedication to her craft.
05:04And my darling Lulu,
05:06she is my long-lost sister that I've met in a past life
05:10and now my forever Judy.
05:12I love you, family, and thank you so much
05:14for getting me together and holding my hand.
05:16You have always taught me to be myself and to show love
05:19and I am forever grateful for it.
05:21I love you all so much.
05:23Forever spreadable Nutella Fitzgerald.
05:26P.S. Mother, please feed Mr. Taro
05:29and please prepare the fattest blunt before I return.
05:36♪♪♪
05:39♪♪♪
05:42♪♪♪
05:45♪♪♪
05:48Dear Danny, Boca, and all of my friends back home.
05:51Ah! I made it to the top four!
05:55Coming to Camp Wanakiki has been such a whirlwind.
05:58You all know how nervous I was
06:00to compete against nine different drag artists
06:02I've never met before.
06:04You gave me the push I needed and I couldn't be any happier.
06:07I've made such incredible connections with everyone here.
06:10We've laughed, we've cried, but most importantly
06:13we've smothered each other in so much love.
06:16Believe it or not, I've actually made it
06:18through two whole weeks in the woods.
06:20I've survived a hike,
06:22met drag race superstars Kamora Hall,
06:25and got cream pied.
06:27The last two activities are not related.
06:30I've missed you all so much throughout my time here,
06:32but the friendships and experiences I've gained along the way
06:35will always be held close to my heart.
06:37Thank you for believing in me,
06:39and I can't wait to see you again.
06:41P.S. I might have shaved my head at Ibanez Barbershop,
06:45so be on the lookout for a naked mole rat when picking me up.
06:49Dear Denver, I did it!
06:52I broke the Denver Curse here at Camp Wanakiki.
06:55Nothing against Kylie or Dixie, of course,
06:58but it was really nice not to go home first.
07:01This has been such a crazy experience,
07:04so you know I'm fitting in just fine.
07:07I'll see you soon.
07:18I will say that I wouldn't be where I am
07:20without the love and support from each and every one of you back home.
07:24But please make sure to water my plants while I'm away.
07:27Oh, also play them the Camp Wanakiki theme song at night.
07:30They like that.
07:32And please dust their leaves.
07:34Rotate them counterclockwise every three hours.
07:36Walk them, and please don't forget to read them a bedtime story
07:39before you tuck them in.
07:41Thanks!
07:43Alright, I gotta go.
07:44The pretty twin is starting to yell again,
07:46and I don't want to get thrown in the lake.
07:48I'll see you soon.
07:49I'll bring the crown home, okay?
07:50Okay.
07:51Love you, mean it.
07:52Bye!
08:12Good morning, campers!
08:13Good morning, Ruthie!
08:15I've called you to the camp library
08:17because we have a literary emergency.
08:21Now, as you know, drag communities all across America are under attack,
08:26and drag story hours are one of their largest targets.
08:31Have any of you hosted a drag story time?
08:34Oh, you have, Patty?
08:35What was it like?
08:36Well, I've had a lot that are really low-key and fun,
08:41and, you know, we sing songs and tell stories,
08:43and I've had some that, you know,
08:45there's people in masks with terrible signs who show up,
08:48so, you know, it really runs the gamut.
08:51I've done story time a couple times.
08:53We kind of, like, leak where it is the day of
08:56just to kind of make sure that we don't get the backlash
09:00or the pushback on having a story time,
09:02and so we always end up having a really great experience
09:06with a lot of love and support for each other.
09:09So, Patty, how did you deal with the protesters?
09:13Um...
09:19Um, yeah, it was a really difficult time.
09:23There was a few months where I had to cancel, like,
09:27every drag story hour event that I had planned
09:30just because it was, like, it was constant on social media,
09:35and they were, you know, once they find one performer
09:39who does a lot of story time,
09:40it's like they really hone in on that person.
09:45But it was also a really inspiring time
09:47because of the way people in the community
09:51come together to protect people.
09:54I learned a lot about Boston during that time
09:58and about who my real friends are
10:01and what real community is.
10:03Patty, well, I'm glad that the story had a happy ending,
10:07both for your city, your community, and yourself.
10:10Well, today, you're going to help our local library
10:15by writing your very own children's story!
10:19So let's take a deep breath and get ready to write
10:24a creative, whimsical, heartwarming,
10:28and inspirational children's story!
10:31Good luck!
10:32Thank you!
10:34Get that paper.
10:35Give me a piece of paper.
10:37I gotta get writing.
10:39What are people writing about?
10:42Well, I am writing a little something
10:45that is personal to me.
10:47So I struggle with dyslexia,
10:49and so I wanted my story to portray that,
10:52but in a, like, positive message
10:54so that there's a wonderful outcome in the end.
10:56But, you know, you have to find out.
10:58Yeah, I'm also kind of going down that route
11:00of, like, something that's more personal to me.
11:03It wasn't always easy to fit in,
11:05and so it was always something where I felt like
11:09I had to kind of hide, if you will.
11:12And so I really wanted to create this story,
11:15especially for children, for kids,
11:17to let them know that, like, you know,
11:19being unique, being different is okay,
11:21and once you find that, to embrace that
11:23and, like, outwardly express that.
11:25Yeah, in the same way, I've also felt like an outsider,
11:29just like you, Lulu,
11:30I'm taking this as an opportunity
11:32to kind of share some of the things I've learned
11:35and hopefully spread that on to others
11:36so that way they can more easily meet those challenges, yeah.
11:40Patty, what about you?
11:41I'm taking this opportunity to write myself in
11:44as the villain of my story.
11:46Oh, shocker.
11:48There's a mean...
11:49She's a mean little girl named Patty
11:51who thinks that she should be queen of the playground,
11:53and I don't know exactly...
11:56Maybe that's the end, too.
11:59The end.
12:00Now, is this a playground or a campground?
12:02Ah! Ah!
12:05It's a playground, Lulu.
12:06Oh, okay, all right.
12:07All righty, campers, how did we do?
12:11Ooh, so good-ish.
12:14I bet they're fantastic.
12:16So, Lulu, what's the theme of your story?
12:18The theme of my story is all about being unique
12:21and finding your uniqueness
12:23and really accepting that
12:27and showing that with pride.
12:29Oh, I love it. I can't wait to read it.
12:32Yes!
12:33All right, Nutella.
12:34The theme of my story is about dyslexia.
12:38Oh!
12:39Yes, I struggle with dyslexia, but I overcome it,
12:42and so does my character in this story.
12:44That could help a lot of children.
12:47Good for you.
12:49Okay.
12:50Patty?
12:51My story is about a little brat named Patty who...
12:54Oh, hot. A biography.
12:57I was going to say, these aren't autobiographical.
13:00You're making it so hard.
13:01She thinks that she's the queen of the playground,
13:04but then another kid has to come along
13:06and explain to her what being a queen is really all about,
13:09which is about taking care of your community
13:11and having fun with your friends.
13:13Oh, my goodness.
13:15Does that kind of sound a little too close to home
13:18to you other campers where Patty's concerned?
13:22They've got nothing, Ruthie.
13:24They've got nothing to say.
13:26Hannah, what's going on with your story?
13:29My story's all about being a black sheep
13:31and then finding your own footing
13:33and letting your true colors shine.
13:35Wonderful.
13:36Well, these sound absolutely terrific,
13:39but you know, there's more to a terrific children's story
13:44than just the actual text.
13:46Most children's books have fantastic illustrations
13:51so we're going to give you another hour
13:54to come up with four illustrations
13:57that you're going to do yourself to accompany your story.
14:02Now, where is Ranger Danger with those art supplies?
14:11Here are those art supplies you asked for.
14:15Thank you, Ranger Danger.
14:18Happy to service you.
14:21I mean, be of service to you.
14:27God, I love a man with a big cocks.
14:30Box, box.
14:33Arts and supplies, box.
14:37Well, campers, why don't you give me your stories
14:41and I'll go type them up
14:43and you can use these art supplies
14:46to work on your illustrations.
14:49I'll be back in a bit.
14:51Yay!
14:52So what is everyone's take on all this legislation
14:56and all this protesting against Drag Story Hour?
15:00It's very frustrating to be in our place of work
15:05and not be able to educate children
15:09and share this bond with other kids and other families
15:14because we're not a problem
15:18and we can teach others love and acceptance in our own way.
15:23When you said place of work, that's a really kind of key phrase
15:28for me when I'm talking about Drag Story Hour
15:31because I always say I've never been pursuing Drag Story Hour work.
15:36It has always been me being asked to come into different spaces,
15:40into schools and stuff.
15:42It's not something that I'm trying to get in the presence of children.
15:47It's people who think that it would be good for their children
15:51to hear from me and to have an experience with me.
15:54Yeah, I think it's so important for all of us
15:57to be able to have queer representation at a young age.
16:01It gives us permission to be ourselves and express ourselves freely.
16:05Imagine a world where just having more information out there
16:09for the next generation, there'd be less bullying, less harassment,
16:13all of those hardships that we experience.
16:15So having a place where we're able to share different types of culture,
16:19including queer culture, is super important.
16:22I would have loved to have had a queer education
16:26very early on growing up
16:29because I think I would have had a better understanding
16:32of who I was as a person,
16:34and I think that that development is extremely important,
16:38especially at a young age.
16:40We're just trying to encourage love and acceptance
16:43and being unique and being proud of who you are
16:46regardless of what that looks like to other people.
16:49We're all just human beings trying to live and experience.
16:56Okie-dokies, artichokies.
16:58Who's ready for some story time?
17:01Yay!
17:03All right, who'd like to go first?
17:05I will.
17:07This is The Adventures of Paige and the Amazing Pop-Up Dress.
17:16Between pages so crisp where nothing stuck out
17:19lived a girl named Paige who was special, no doubt.
17:22She lived in Flatville with her family so grand,
17:25the Unfoldable Flat Family, known throughout the land.
17:29Paige's family loved being flat, you see.
17:31They'd show off their flatness with so much glee.
17:34They'd iron their clothes so neat and pristine,
17:37no wrinkle in sight, flat out clean.
17:41One day while pressing clothes with care,
17:44Paige was distracted, her mind just not there.
17:47With her head in the clouds, stuck in a dream,
17:49she thought, could things be different than what they seem?
17:53We all know that feeling, huh?
17:55Distracted by her thoughts and wild imagination,
17:58Paige made a mistake while ironing, a tiny complication.
18:03A fold where a fold should not be,
18:05Paige felt inspired, but what could this be?
18:08Paige saw beauty in those accidental folds,
18:11a new design, a story waiting to be told.
18:14But sadness crept in and Paige hid her mistake,
18:17afraid that her family would not like her new take.
18:22But then Paige realized being different is okay
18:25and perhaps her discovery could brighten someone's day.
18:29This encouraged Paige to stay true,
18:31to add folds to her dress showing Flatville what she could do.
18:35With brand new courage, Paige shared her creation,
18:38a dress that popped up unlike any in paper nation.
18:41Her family, surprised by a dress not flat,
18:44soon realized that Paige's dress was all that.
18:49The town threw a party to celebrate Paige and her dress,
18:52now a designer whose creation certainly did impress.
18:56Flatville no more, now the land of the free,
18:58and being true to oneself was the way you should be.
19:01So remember, dear friend, as you turn each page,
19:04to love what makes you different, no matter your age.
19:07For in this world, we're all different, it's true,
19:10and that's what makes it beautiful, through and through.
19:13And that's the end, that's the story of Paige.
19:17Ooh, that was lovely.
19:21All right, who'd like to go next?
19:23I will.
19:24Okay, Nutella, let's hear your story.
19:29This is the story of Penelope Pencil, yum yum.
19:36Once upon a time, there was a child named Sadie.
19:39It was the first day of school with the teacher, Miss Grady.
19:42Good morning, class, Miss Grady sang out with glee.
19:45Today, you're all going to write with me.
19:47Then all of the students, one by one,
19:49went up to the board for what looked like fun,
19:52but sitting there, scared, afraid to prolong,
19:55Sadie whispers, I'm scared of doing it wrong.
19:58Miss Grady smiles and gives Sadie a wink.
20:01I've got just the friend to help, here, let me think.
20:07Sadie crosses her arms and starts to put up a fence.
20:10These words are jumbled and they don't make much sense.
20:13Then out of her pocket, we watch her reveal
20:15the most fabulous looking pencil, and she's wearing a heel.
20:20Hello, my dear, I didn't mean to give you a fright.
20:23My name is Penelope Pencil from the land of dyslexia,
20:27and I'm here to help you read and write.
20:30Sadie feels scared and nervous at best,
20:32but doesn't quite seem like an easy quest.
20:35You might as well join the rest of the group.
20:38My brain looks like a bowl of alphabet soup.
20:43While that does sound delicious, I've got some news for you.
20:46At your age, life should feel like a zoo.
20:49I'll try not to keep this quite too long,
20:51but when it comes to writing, there is no right or wrong.
20:55All it takes is a deep breath and a turn of a letter,
20:58then suddenly it all feels better.
21:01Sadie takes a deep breath and lets out a smile.
21:05This is happy as she's felt in a while.
21:07She grabs Penelope with all her might,
21:09then with confidence begins to write.
21:12Penelope scratches and drags across the paper with care.
21:16Then when finished, Sadie jumps up eager to share.
21:20She clears her throat without a glimmer of worry,
21:23and then she reads what she wrote, but she's not in a hurry.
21:28At times you may feel defective, but that's not all true.
21:32All you need is a change of perspective to help your best shine through.
21:37After she finishes, Sadie takes a deep breath,
21:40and normally that would have scared her to death.
21:43But with the help of Miss Grady and Penelope, her new friend,
21:46dyslexia and doubt are no match for her.
21:49And that's the end.
21:52That was wonderful!
21:55Oh, I just loved it.
22:03The Queen of the Playground by Patti Bouret.
22:07And I just want to say all characters in the story are fictional
22:10and not meant to represent any real-life drag queens.
22:13People.
22:16Patti Pepperton, Pam-Pam-Pourri,
22:19was the prettiest and most popular girl in all of grade three.
22:23She had all the best clothes, and she threw the best parties.
22:26She had all the best toys, including all the best Barbies.
22:29So that's why at recess, the whole class bowed down
22:34when Patti barked,
22:36Hey, guess what, losers?
22:38I'm the queen of this here playground.
22:41Queen Patti said who could play where and play when,
22:45and dissenters were banished, never asked to join in again.
22:49Queen Patti ruled the playground like a cruel and jealous tyrant,
22:55and nothing is fun about or rhymes with tyrant.
22:59But a new kid in class, who went by String Bean,
23:04stood right up to Patti and said,
23:06Hey, Patti, I'm also a queen.
23:10You see, String Bean had been to a drag story hour before,
23:13and knew being a queen meant something much more.
23:17You, a queen, said Patti maliciously.
23:20But you're a boy. Now bug off.
23:23Expeditiously.
23:26No, Patti.
23:28Gas, said String Bean, their knees starting to shake.
23:32A queen isn't a boy or a girl.
23:35That's your first mistake.
23:37A queen isn't someone who meanly demands.
23:40A queen is a person who unites all the lands.
23:44She fights for the rights of the people who need her.
23:47She doesn't have to yell to show she's a leader.
23:51Hey, wait a second.
23:54I think I'm a queen then, too, the kids started to say.
23:58I'm a king. I'm the prime minister.
24:01I'm a duchy of they.
24:04And soon all the students in the playground realm
24:07were ruling together, each at their own helm.
24:11And as for Patti Pepperton Pamperie,
24:14she went on to work in middle management.
24:18Wow.
24:21The end.
24:24Thank you, Patti.
24:29Okay, Hannah, let's hear your story.
24:33Hello, friends.
24:35Hi, I'd like to read a story to you.
24:38This is called It's Not Your Fault by me, Hannah Barbera.
24:45In a town of bright colors where joy filled the air
24:49lived Billie the black sheep with a heart to repair.
24:52In a family not quite like the rest of the flock,
24:55she felt like an outsider experiencing shock.
24:58Her parents were troubled, their struggles unclear,
25:01and sometimes their actions brought Billie to tears.
25:05With hurtful remarks and days that were gray,
25:08Billie would crumble and fall in the fray.
25:12Then out of nowhere, a sparrow took flight.
25:15It sang out to Billie with one goal in sight.
25:18Dear Billie, my friend, listen closely to me.
25:21You're special and loved as unique as can be.
25:24It's not your fault, the sparrow did say,
25:27for things that have happened along the way.
25:29Your heart is bright with kindness to share.
25:32Embrace who you are, for it's truly rare.
25:35Billie then smiled as hope filled her soul.
25:38With the wise little sparrow, she began to feel whole.
25:41Though she stood out from the others, she knew deep inside
25:44she was brave and no spirit could ever outshine.
25:47It's not your fault, the sparrow sang sweet.
25:50You're writing your story, the one in the lead.
25:53Don't let others define you or bring you dismay.
25:56Be proud of your colors, let them guide your way.
26:00As days turned to weeks, Billie found her own grace.
26:03One step at a time, a slow, steady pace.
26:06No longer the black sheep, but a friend to all.
26:09She embraced her true self, standing proud and tall.
26:12And so, dear children, let this tale be heard.
26:15In a world of differences, embrace each bright bird.
26:18For it's not your fault, no matter the hue.
26:21You're loved and you matter, for just being you.
26:25Thank you. Thank you.
26:29Very impressive, campers!
26:33That was delightful!
26:35Now, it's almost time to get ready for tonight's talent show.
26:39Today, we've asked you to present a look
26:43inspired by your very own children's story.
26:48And then, three of you will live happily ever after
26:53at the Season 6 Camp Wanakiki Finale.
26:57I'll see you tonight!
27:00Bye, Rosie!
27:04Good evening, and welcome to tonight's Camp Wanakiki Talent Show!
27:08Earlier today, our campers hosted their very own story hour
27:12with original books they wrote themselves.
27:14And tonight, those books will come to life
27:17as the campers present looks inspired by their stories
27:20on the talent show.
27:22So, let's get started!
27:24Good evening, and welcome to tonight's Camp Wanakiki Talent Show!
27:28Earlier today, our campers hosted their very own story hour
27:32with stories on the talent show stage.
27:34Ruthie, did you enjoy story hour?
27:36It was a real page-turner!
27:39We agree! Let's start the show!
27:47Flockless and fallen, I felt out of place.
27:50A black sheep in hiding, my colors raced.
27:53When a birdie sang out, be bold and be true.
27:56With trust, strength, and kindness, hooray, a breakthrough.
28:01My shame has been sheared, a new me transformed.
28:04A loved little lamb, my self-worth reformed.
28:08Now with the courage to shine my light bright,
28:11I look toward new pastures with joy and delight.
28:14Embracing my colors, what makes me unique?
28:17Every shade and rich hue, no longer as meek.
28:21Bow down, my loyal classmates slash subjects!
28:25It is I, Queen of the Playground, Patty Pepperton Pam-Pam-Pourri,
28:30the prettiest and most popular girl in grade three.
28:34Today we're playing The Mulch is Lava,
28:37so you better not let me touch the lava, you whiny little peasants,
28:40no matter what!
28:42Mm! Mm!
28:45Behold, how daintily and delicately I jump from child to child.
28:49It's good to be the queen.
28:55Once upon a time, in a town called Flatville,
28:57there was a girl named me, Paige.
28:59My family's one of the flattest families around.
29:02They stick to the buck and do not like to stand out.
29:04So you can only imagine how pressed I was.
29:07I had to be the queen of the playground.
29:09I had to be the queen of the playground.
29:13So you can only imagine how pressed I was
29:15when I accidentally ironed a fold into my favorite flat dress.
29:18Oh, sheet! Is it okay to be different?
29:21I saw this mistake as my chance to stick out among the crowd.
29:25I ironed fabulous folds into my dress, and something magical happened.
29:28Now I celebrate my true self and my uniqueness,
29:31and I'm not afraid to show it.
29:33And that is how my story goes.
29:38Penelope Pencil, present!
29:40Here to save the day. Did it once already, but again, let me say.
29:44At times you may feel defective, but that's not all true.
29:47All you need is a change in perspective to help your best shine through.
29:51Keep creating friends, and the letters cannot stop you.
29:55And if all else fails, you can make a haiku.
30:05Welcome back, campers. Our top four.
30:08As you know, we only have three Story Hour badges,
30:11which means at the end of the night, one of you will have to take a hike.
30:14Are you sure?
30:16I'm pretty sure that's how this story ends.
30:18Okay. Oh.
30:20Well, let's just talk to Miss Lulu Crystals, who is not flat today.
30:26For this look, when I heard Drag Story Hour,
30:29I really, like, what's more captivating than a pop-up book?
30:31So I really wanted to create a pop-up look that kind of matched my story.
30:36I glued all of these tissue papers together.
30:40This was my only look in my package that I made myself.
30:43So you actually created the accordion folds?
30:46I did.
30:47Oh, wow.
30:48Yeah, it's 150 sheets of tissue paper.
30:50Wow.
30:51Don't get it wet.
30:52No.
30:53Oh, my God.
30:54And I think this perfectly matches the story.
30:58So kudos to that.
31:00I might have done something different.
31:02You spent all this time on the dress.
31:04I would have maybe made a headpiece because the wig is kind of distracting.
31:08The rest is really, really cool.
31:11Hannah Barbera.
31:13I always feel like a black sheep wherever I go.
31:16I've kind of, like, lived my life feeling a little bit misunderstood.
31:19Sorry, I'm not trying to be edgy, but it's been a common feeling in my life.
31:24Well, you're not the black sheep here at Camp Wanakiki.
31:26And even if you were, we like sheeps of all colors.
31:29So you have found your new flock.
31:31Oh, yeah, I have.
31:32Here.
31:33I love a good reveal.
31:34And this was just reveal after reveal after reveal after reveal after reveal.
31:39Nutella Fitzgerald.
31:41I love that your story was about dyslexia and those sort of classroom struggles.
31:49I can't even start on that wig.
31:52I just wrote down wowie.
31:53I knew I wanted to talk about dyslexia and about this character that saves the day
31:57and helps navigate through the world that is dyslexia,
32:01which is a jumbled up mash of alphabet soup for some of us.
32:06And dyslexia is different for each person.
32:08And I wanted to make Penelope this sassy yet confident individual.
32:14And I thought, you know what would be great?
32:17A pencil, but in a cocktail dress.
32:22I mean, the eraser wig down to the pencil-tipped pointed shoes that you were riding with.
32:27It's just a really fun and campy look.
32:30And I also really enjoyed the story.
32:33Patti Pitter Pop Pam Pam what?
32:36Patti Pepperton Pam Pam Puri.
32:38Patti Pepperton Pam Pam Puri.
32:40Everyone's always messing it up for her.
32:41Oh, don't beat me with your scepter.
32:44I really kind of wanted to show the two sides of how I think about drag.
32:48And on the one side, there's Patti Pepperton Pam Pam Puri,
32:51who's sort of this extravagant narcissist.
32:53And on the other side, there was String Bean, who's sort of community oriented.
32:58You really like playing the villain here, don't you?
33:01You were the villain in the Murder Mystery, in the Welcome to the Jungle talent show,
33:07and now we have this.
33:08It's a very comfortable semifinal look, yes.
33:13So we have a fabulous top four in front of us,
33:15but there are only three story hour badges.
33:19So unfortunately, at the end of the night tonight, one of you will have to take a hike.
33:25But for now, you can all wait in the rec room while we deliberate.
33:39I'm feeling a little frustrated, to be honest.
33:43I feel like I've earned a place in the finale,
33:46but I feel that just based on this, that I won't be there.
33:51And I love you guys, and I think you all did great tonight.
33:56If I may ask, what makes you think that your critique was bad?
33:59I feel that your performances had more layers to them tonight.
34:05And mine was a character, and like they said,
34:10it's not the first villain I've played.
34:12For whatever it's worth, I think that your story and your look were one of the top tonight.
34:21And I knew going into this that they were going to say something about this wig.
34:25Little did I know that they had one.
34:28Oh, did they wear that this season?
34:30Not this season, no.
34:31They wear it probably at a Disney brunch.
34:34No.
34:35Ah!
34:36Ah!
34:37Ah!
34:40It's funny because we're all our worst critics.
34:42Yeah.
34:43I don't know what to expect tonight.
34:46I was trying my best to be as honest and raw as I could when I wrote that story.
34:50And right now in my life, I'm no contact with my family.
34:54It just sucks when the people who are supposed to love you the most
34:57are the number one people who don't believe in you.
35:00I'm just so proud of you.
35:03I really am.
35:05Well, we are about to choose the top three of season six of Camp Wanakiki.
35:12Oh, my God.
35:13I can't believe it.
35:14I can't believe it either.
35:15Very excited.
35:16This entire season has flown by so fast.
35:18It seems like ages.
35:21I love how they really took to this challenge.
35:24And those stories.
35:25They were great.
35:26They were inspiring.
35:27Couldn't have been happier with our campers.
35:29Well, we have them right here.
35:30I really loved all of them.
35:32They're all really good artists, too.
35:35Yeah, let's talk about Lillian a little bit, should we?
35:37Yeah, I did like her story.
35:39I wish that she had a little variety in the drawings.
35:42Yes, there's a lot of drawings of Paige in the same pose pretty much.
35:46But this was actually one of my favorite stories.
35:48So I thought it was just so adorable and so relatable
35:51and something that kids could understand.
35:53The look I thought was also great.
35:55I do wish that there was a wig reveal.
35:58I didn't really like the wig.
35:59I would rather have just not had that wig to begin with.
36:02I get that she was going for something flat,
36:04but she's going to spend all that time making this gown
36:07because she did not make wigs out of the same stuff.
36:10It would have completed the look.
36:12So let's talk about Patty, the queen of the playground.
36:16I thought it was great.
36:17I thought it was a great lesson about bullying.
36:19But I also thought it was a great lesson about what is a queen.
36:22I love it when people learn a lesson.
36:24She likes to play the villain,
36:25but the funny thing is I don't think she's really a villain.
36:27I wanted something else from the look, and I'm not sure what it was.
36:30Anytime you see a drag queen come out with an oversized outfit,
36:33you expect a reveal.
36:34But I looked at it as like, okay, it's a kid.
36:36I kind of took it as like a little baby doll dress.
36:38I get that.
36:39And then we have our black sheep of the camp here,
36:43Hannah Barbera.
36:45I liked that it was very personal.
36:47You could tell it was a personal story.
36:48It did need some editing, I think,
36:50only because it just kind of started in one direction
36:52and kind of went in another direction.
36:54I actually had to go back and re-read the story twice.
36:57A little editing, and it would be a great story.
36:59But the look today was fantastic.
37:01This is the case of you expect the reveal.
37:03You know it's coming.
37:05And then when it comes, you're still excited about it.
37:08Correct, yeah.
37:09And that's really an art form,
37:11and not all entertainers have that.
37:13A story that did not disappoint at all was Penelope's pencil.
37:18Yes!
37:19It was nice to see that people can take a personal experience
37:22and turn it into a story to help teach kids,
37:26to help them navigate through their own struggles.
37:29I love the story itself.
37:30I love the illustrations,
37:31because each page is a little bit different.
37:33The story was great.
37:34The look was fantastic.
37:36It's our second pencil.
37:37Second pencil.
37:39I mean, then when the wig popped out
37:40and they had the apples for the teachers.
37:43I would prefer cherries, personally,
37:45but apples are fine, I suppose.
37:47That was a lovely surprise.
37:49Not only because I was hungry,
37:50but because it was just a great surprise.
37:53And I love the detail in the little pencils
37:55and the bracelet and the earrings.
37:57I mean, all the way from the eraser head
37:59down to the lead-tipped shoes,
38:01where she was writing on the floor.
38:04I just thought it was very smart.
38:06But we have to choose our three finalists.
38:10I think they all did well today.
38:13I think I could see a combination of any three
38:15in the finale tomorrow,
38:17so this is going to be tough.
38:19Well, let's bring our little bookworms back in here.
38:24The winner of Camp Wanakiki
38:25will receive a stupendous prize package,
38:27including...
38:29It's a Pola!
38:30A fabulous custom foam wig
38:32by Season 4 camper, Pola Frost.
38:34Shimmer and shine,
38:36with a year's supply of glittery makeup
38:38by Electra Cosmetics.
38:40Set sail, baby!
38:41An all-expense-paid cruise
38:43provided by Dream Vacations and Adventures by Maps.com.
38:47All this and $10,000 in cold, hard cash
38:51provided by Hamburger Mary's,
38:53where you can...
38:54Eat, drink, and be merry, baby!
38:57Welcome back, top four.
39:01This has been a fantastic semifinals
39:04of Camp Wanakiki Season 6,
39:05and I can't imagine a better top four.
39:09But as you know, there are four of you
39:11and only three story hour badges
39:14and three spots in the finale.
39:18We have each written on our chalkboards
39:20the name of a camper
39:22who has earned their story hour badge
39:25and the spot in the finale.
39:28And I'm going to start with today's winner,
39:31and that is...
39:32Nutella Fitzgerald!
39:35Oh, my God, thank you so much.
39:38Congratulations!
39:39You've just earned $500 cash.
39:43Congratulations, Nutella.
39:44You've also earned your spot in the finale,
39:47and you can wait backstage for the badging ceremony.
39:50Thank you so much.
39:51Oh, I'm so excited.
39:55The next camper to earn their story hour badge
39:58and a spot in the finale is...
40:02Patty Bure.
40:04Thank you so much.
40:05I'm going to wear this badge most proudly.
40:10Hannah Barbera and Lulu Crystals,
40:13we love you both so very, very much.
40:16You have been a huge part of this season of Camp Wanakiki.
40:21I am sorry, however, that there's only one badge left
40:24as we head into the finale.
40:27So with that said,
40:29the last badge is going to go to...
40:33Lulu.
40:38Thank you, thank you, thank you.
40:41Close that shit.
40:43Come on.
40:44I love you so much.
40:46You earned it.
40:49Oh, my dear, hi.
40:52This is way easier now because I practiced a few times.
40:57Hannah Barbera, better the second time around.
41:02You have been so much fun to have at camp,
41:05and we're so glad that you were able to come back
41:07and join the competition again,
41:09and you really made the most of it,
41:11and today was no exception.
41:13Your story was very touching, and this look is very exceptional.
41:16It just came down to the number of badges that we had.
41:19Yeah, I get it.
41:20Thank you so much for the opportunity here.
41:23I never thought I would even be able to come here,
41:26that you guys picked my audition tape
41:28and all the friends I've made.
41:30This is wild.
41:31And if you guys ever have an all-star, just think of me.
41:35Right now, you're neck and neck with me, Bob.
41:39This is not goodbye.
41:41Far from it.
41:42You're not getting rid of us that easily.
41:44You're stuck with me.
41:46But unfortunately tonight, my dear,
41:48you have to take another hike.
41:52My calves are strong now.
41:55Love you guys.
41:56Bye.
41:57¶¶
42:21Well, we did it, fam.
42:23We're in the top three!
42:25Yay!
42:27We've all worked our asses off to be here,
42:30and this is a pretty cool top three, y'all.
42:35Sad to see Hannah take another hike,
42:37but I'm glad that I'm here to join both of you.
42:40I think right now my mentality to go forward to tomorrow
42:45is I'm just going to remain happy
42:48and just I'm going to have a great day with my friends,
42:53but also keeping myself, like, calm and secure
42:56and knowing that things are going to be all right,
42:59no matter what.
43:00For me, I just know that, like, there's nothing left,
43:03but to put 127% on that talent show stage tomorrow night.
43:08Like, there's nothing left to lose.
43:10Yeah.
43:11I'll tell you my strategy for securing the win,
43:14if you want to know,
43:15but you have to come very close to the fire.
43:18Oh, I see, I see.
43:19She's tricky.
43:20Not with this synthetic wig.
43:22I think it's time to wrap up our evening
43:25and get ready for tomorrow.
43:27Yes, ma'am.
43:28Here's to the top three!
43:30To the top three!
43:42Round two.
43:43Looks like I'm taking a hike again,
43:45but I couldn't be any happier.
43:47I was able to come back and find out that all of my peers
43:51who I respect so much voted for me
43:53and thought that I deserved a second chance.
43:56I was able to show more of my art
43:58and really, really just highlight my experience here.
44:02Thank you, everybody back home who supported me,
44:05and I'll see you soon.
44:07Goodbye, friends.
