The Block AU S20 Episode 21 - Kitchen Week
Transcript
00:00Previously, we said goodbye to Jessie and Paige.
00:04Nothing's more important than your mental health,
00:07and it is a big decision and a brave one that you both made.
00:10It's been such an experience.
00:19And we said hello to Maddie and Charlotte.
00:21So nice to meet you.
00:22Nice to meet you.
00:23This is crazy.
00:24You're Charlotte?
00:25Yes.
00:26And you're Maddie?
00:27Yes.
00:28Are you nervous?
00:29It's just the block.
00:30Yes.
00:31Just the block.
00:32But it didn't take long for the newbies to get offside
00:35with their inherited builder.
00:37Just talk to me, and I'll tell you if we can achieve it
00:39or if we can't.
00:40I don't care what you want to do.
00:42Just don't can me on TV, or I'll just pull the pin and walk off.
00:47And it was a tie for main bedroom week.
00:50The winner of week five on the block is, by half a point...
00:56That's bad.
00:58It's a tie between two and five.
01:05Tonight, it's a brand new week.
01:08We are doing kitchen.
01:10All right.
01:11Week six, kitchen.
01:13This year's charity challenge gets underway.
01:16This is a meeting room.
01:17It's a hangout room.
01:18It's a dining room.
01:19There's a bar and a kitchen.
01:21It's also a training facility.
01:23We love doing this kind of thing.
01:24We love serving in our community.
01:26So this was such a cool experience.
01:28We have a visit from Block Royalty.
01:30It's a super cave.
01:38And Dan goes head-to-head with Greg.
01:40You look at a forage like it's nothing.
01:41No, I don't.
01:42There's a reason why we do this.
01:43Have I ever looked at a forage like this?
01:44And you've disrespected me.
01:45I'm not playing the game.
01:46I'm not playing the game.
01:47Well, there you go.
01:49It's week six on the block,
01:51and our teams are about to begin the room reno
01:54that will mark the halfway point of the competition.
01:57Up for the girls in house one,
01:59this will be their first full week.
02:02And they're being welcomed in true block fashion.
02:07Bright and shiny.
02:09Ooh, that's very bright.
02:12First, I think,
02:14Ooh, that's very bright.
02:17First official week on the block, bright and early, 6am.
02:21How are you feeling after your first judging?
02:23Yeah, pretty good.
02:24It's not our best work.
02:26Maybe that would just be nice to us.
02:28But, um...
02:30I can see the vision.
02:32Yeah.
02:33And today's the first time the girls will get the chance
02:35to check out the competition
02:37at the Domain Open for Inspections.
02:40First up are the boys in house three
02:42who didn't finish their main bedroom and walk-in roving time
02:46and came in last with 21.5 points.
02:49Wow.
02:50That's the hero of the room.
02:52That is a lot of time and effort and craftsmanship.
02:56I wonder if the time and effort into that feature
03:00is the reason why we don't have sheer curtains hanging.
03:03I'm trying to understand why they've put carpet
03:07coming straight from the bathroom.
03:09I would have put timber here.
03:11Wow.
03:12Whoa.
03:13Wait, this is amazing.
03:15They've done such a good job.
03:17Whoa, look at the ceiling.
03:18That would have been so hard.
03:20That's so cool.
03:21Oh, my gosh.
03:22I think the judges were kind of harsh on them.
03:23Yeah.
03:24Wow.
03:26Oh, boys.
03:27Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.
03:29Absolutely stepping it up.
03:31That's so sad.
03:33I feel for them.
03:35They actually would have had a really nice room if they finished it.
03:37Yeah, they got so close.
03:39Why did they get such bad scores?
03:41This is really coastal.
03:43How good does that look?
03:45I like that.
03:46I really like that.
03:47Oh.
03:48Ah!
03:49Oh, love.
03:50This is stunning.
03:52I do know what they mean with the carpet,
03:54but, like, it's actually quite nice to feel carpet on your feet, isn't it?
03:57Yeah, but that is from a wet area.
03:59And if you're doing floorboards,
04:00why would you not just do floorboards the whole way?
04:01Yeah, I don't quite understand that.
04:02But having three different floors.
04:03It feels nice.
04:05Next up, the teams are heading into house four
04:08who came in third with 27.5 points.
04:12I am so in love with this.
04:16Oh, my gosh.
04:17Yum.
04:19I'm walking in here with a burgundy smoking jacket.
04:24I am at Chateau Marmont.
04:26And I've just been to see Tom Ford.
04:30It's tailored, the tailored man.
04:32Tom Ford is a look.
04:34What are they, Tom Jones?
04:35Is that their style now?
04:36Tom Jones.
04:37Yeah, I don't know.
04:38Roger Seller.
04:39Someone like that.
04:42Chuck Norris.
04:43Oh, this is the makeup bar.
04:45Oh, my God.
04:46This is a dream makeup area.
04:49Wow.
04:50This is stunning.
04:51Absolutely stunning.
04:52That's a Tom Jones jacket.
04:55Tom Jones shirt.
04:58They've got both sides open.
04:59I would have had maybe some closed.
05:01Do you know what they offer as well?
05:03Glass doors.
05:04No, glass doors.
05:05Yeah, so you can see.
05:06Yeah.
05:07Yeah, this is full Tom Jones.
05:08No wonder they're the new Tom Jones stylists.
05:11Right on.
05:12Tom Jones.
05:13Good work.
05:14Well done.
05:15It's Tom Ford.
05:16Tom Ford.
05:17Tom Ford.
05:19Where's Tom Ford, mate?
05:20Did he play footy for Geelong?
05:23Last night, we had a tie for first place.
05:26So let's see what the teams thought of Courtney and Grant's main bedroom,
05:29which received 28 points.
05:31They've created a mood.
05:32They've got the essence.
05:34This is nothing we've ever seen before, and I am absolutely adoring it.
05:39It's just at a different level.
05:41These guys are operating in a league of their own.
05:43Whoa.
05:44This guy smells good in here.
05:46Again, open and closed, though.
05:48What?
05:50Oh, it's to a texture.
05:51Oh, my God.
05:52I didn't see this.
05:54Oh, my God.
05:55I love that.
05:56Oh.
05:57Who wants to come in here and do their makeup?
06:00It takes the grandeur away from it.
06:02At least they've got one bun.
06:03Yeah, true.
06:04And the stone.
06:05Oh, my goodness.
06:06Yeah, that's cool.
06:07And they've done that in the bathroom, too.
06:09Stunning.
06:10Wow.
06:11Wow.
06:12This is literally incredible.
06:13Man, you can't even see your head.
06:15That is not full length.
06:17No, it's actually not bad for me.
06:19I'm probably better from, like, the neck down.
06:25I love this room.
06:26Wow.
06:27This is so good.
06:28I think this definitely deserves a 10.
06:30100,000%.
06:32Look at all the intricate details.
06:34It's pretty epic, isn't it?
06:35Mm.
06:36They've done well.
06:37You can see why it's a winning room.
06:38Yeah.
06:39It looks amazing.
06:40Wow, they have done such a good job.
06:42Wow.
06:43I don't know if coming to these things is...
06:45Makes me...
06:46More terrifying.
06:47House 5, Christian and Mimi also receive 28 points
06:51and equal first place.
06:53This is so calming.
06:54It's so beautiful.
06:55That artwork.
06:58That is gobsmackingly beautiful.
07:01Wow.
07:02Oh, my gosh, the bedhead.
07:04The bedhead's nice.
07:05Oh, that's so nice.
07:07Oh, yeah.
07:09Good on them.
07:10It's the rag ceiling.
07:11Yeah, it's the grandeur of it.
07:13And the fact that that, like, it's good planning,
07:15like, the porter to go all the way up like that.
07:18Wow, I love the colours.
07:19They've done that so well.
07:21She definitely has an eye for style.
07:23They're slamming it, these guys.
07:25Mm.
07:26Doing really well.
07:27Walking robe.
07:28How good is that?
07:29Literally walk in.
07:30Oh, look at this robe, though.
07:32This is the kind of robe I would want.
07:34These wardrobes are beautiful.
07:36It freaks me out, because I'm like, holy moly, like...
07:39A lot of competition.
07:40Like, how can I even create something
07:42that's on the same, like, level as this?
07:45This is unfinished.
07:46Where?
07:47The entire edge of the ceiling isn't done.
07:50It's not cut in.
07:52The doors aren't done.
07:53The trims aren't done.
07:54Can we tie with someone when the painting isn't done?
07:56The trims aren't done.
07:57The...
07:59The shadow lines are all unfinished.
08:04Grant, we're not judges.
08:05Look at the door.
08:06Look at the door, though.
08:09The hinges are a different colour.
08:10I...
08:12I don't get it.
08:13The doorstop...
08:16The doorstop's not in.
08:19But we got pulled apart
08:20when our doorstop was in the wrong spot.
08:22I'll give it to people when I think their rooms are better,
08:24but I just truly feel that this week should have been ours, our right.
08:27I'm going to quote you on something you said this morning
08:30on Open for Inspection, Grant.
08:32Yeah.
08:33I've been robbed.
08:34Sucked. I've been robbed.
08:35Sorry, what did I say?
08:37That room sucked. I've been robbed.
08:39That room sucked?
08:40Did you say that room sucked?
08:41I didn't say that room sucked.
08:43Yeah, that's the quote.
08:44Nah, that's wrong.
08:46I didn't say that room sucked.
08:48Roll the tape.
08:49Please do.
08:51Please roll the tape.
08:52I'll admit when I've said something
08:53and I'll admit when I haven't said something,
08:54I did not say it sucked.
08:56I believe ours deserved the outright win,
08:57just based on the finish.
09:00Well, that's a f***ing joke.
09:03That's a crock of s***.
09:05I'll say it. I don't care.
09:07We'll say it in front of the camera too.
09:10Even without the painting finish,
09:11that was a dog-ugly room.
09:17Like, you know when you just feel really confident in your styling?
09:19Like, I think our styling was nailed.
09:24Taking over house one,
09:25halfway through last week's build,
09:27was Maddie and Charlotte.
09:29And with only three days at their disposal,
09:32they managed to come in fourth on 24 and a half points.
09:36Let's just acknowledge how much room...
09:39Yeah.
09:40..they had to do in how little time they had to do it.
09:42That's absolutely amazing.
09:45This is just such a fantastic result
09:48for the constraints they had.
09:50From what I'm seeing now,
09:51Maddie and Charlotte could be a real contender
09:53to take out this competition.
09:54They've been here three days,
09:55and you're giving them that call?
09:57Well, look at it.
09:58They've done this in three days.
10:00So after impressing the judges in their first week,
10:03the rest of the blockheads now have the chance
10:05to see what they're up against with their new competitors.
10:09How did they get this done in that amount of time?
10:14Like, they started painting at 3.30.
10:16They've started really well.
10:18It's going to be interesting to see what they do in a full week.
10:21Room for activities.
10:22Everyone's got room for activities in their room.
10:25Room for activities.
10:27Very good, girls.
10:29There's all this space.
10:30What are they going to do here?
10:32Interpretive dance.
10:34So much room for activity.
10:36So much room for activity.
10:37I reckon these girls are going to be some competition for sure.
10:40If they smash this out...
10:41If they can produce this in three days.
10:43..yeah.
10:44They will be.
10:45And you can see sort of what they're going to do.
10:48Yeah, it's not going to be much fun versus them.
10:50No.
10:51Not when they've got a full week up their sleeve
10:53and they can create this in three bloody days.
10:56Now that our teams have had a chance to assess the newest threat
10:59in the competition,
11:01it's time for everyone to crack on with this week's room.
11:04This morning I woke up and jumped on the domain app.
11:09Do you want to have a guess before I press it?
11:11Kitchen.
11:12OK.
11:14Ah!
11:15We are doing kitchen.
11:17All right, week six, kitchen.
11:20Kitchen week is probably the most important.
11:23They say that...
11:24Kitchens sell houses, so...
11:26People will just spend the majority of their time in that space.
11:29Kitchen is the biggest thing in a house.
11:31The heart of the home, the kitchen.
11:32The heart of the home, they say.
11:34Can't have a home without a kitchen.
11:36I could.
11:37I just need a microwave.
11:39So our teams are aware that kitchens sell houses
11:42and this year there's been no expense spared
11:45when it comes to fitting out their space.
11:47Scotty budgeted $12,000 for this week.
11:49That's right, Mimi.
11:50There's 12 grand from the CommBank budget.
11:53So the $12,000 doesn't account for all the sponsored clubs
11:57like Kingsman, Cosentino, E&S,
12:01which we're, like, so grateful for.
12:03Back in week two,
12:05I sent the teams off to their Kingsman consults at Cosentino
12:09to design their kitchens.
12:10This is definitely the type of place I get asked to leave.
12:13Welcome to Cosentino.
12:14Thank you. We're excited to be here.
12:16This could look really impactful.
12:18Definitely.
12:19Yeah.
12:20They also visited E&S to select their appliances.
12:23Pick whatever you want.
12:24Anything.
12:25I've just spoken to the powers that be.
12:27Whatever us go have.
12:29All right, let's go crazy.
12:31You've got an unlimited budget.
12:32You can get the FlexiPad
12:35and what you can do...
12:37Twist pad here.
12:38We just select that and you're up the power level.
12:41We have an ABI one-of-a-kind gold zinc.
12:44Oh, that is incredible.
12:46Did you have a colour in mind from a design perspective?
12:48I think I do like that.
12:50That one's definitely my favourite of the colours.
12:58We'll take it.
13:00LAUGHTER
13:01Oh, God.
13:03Mimi is about to design Shrek's kitchen.
13:08We are upstairs with our kitchen.
13:11We've got a nice long island bench.
13:13Then we've got a walk-in pantry with two integrated fridges.
13:17We've got a wall oven.
13:19We've got oven-cooktop combination.
13:21We've got a range hood.
13:23Oh, it's a massive kitchen.
13:25We're going to have a really long island.
13:27It's going to be about four metres.
13:29And I really want marble to be a bit more of the feature.
13:31OK, so this week's going to be a big one.
13:33And especially in our house,
13:36you walk in the front door and it hits you right in the face.
13:39It's an entertainer's kitchen.
13:41Three ovens and built-in coffee machine.
13:44You've got the Bluetooth induction cooktop,
13:47two dishwashers, double fridge, wine fridge, butler's pantry.
13:51I think we've thought of everything
13:53in terms of an entertaining kitchen, right?
13:55Yeah, and the colours, I think, will last for a long, long time.
13:58What's your overall aesthetic?
14:00Dark, moody, texture.
14:03The kitchen is going to completely show them our entire style
14:07in one room, like right there.
14:09So it's sort of more of a galley kitchen.
14:12So we're doing a stand-out piece with the island bench.
14:15We're doing a gold sink and gold tap.
14:18We're planning on doing a mix of different blacks
14:21and then just mixing some softness
14:23with a little bit of textured timber
14:25on the back where the range hood is.
14:27So it's nice to actually finally start bringing it all in together
14:30and letting everyone sort of see
14:32where we've been trying to take the home, I guess.
14:35That's a winning piece of stone right there.
14:37Yep.
14:38We've got a grand design that we've put together
14:40with Kitzman and Constantino, and we are ready to deliver.
14:43Grand.
14:44We've got a nice, massive 3.8-metre curved bench
14:47with a port of timber wrapping around.
14:49It's going to have nice curves to it as well.
14:51It's a plain bench, so nothing on it.
14:54No sink, no cooktop, everything's on the back wall.
14:57So when you're catering,
14:58all the food can be laid out on that whole bench.
15:02All your joinery is coming tomorrow morning.
15:05Yeah.
15:06That's pretty much indicative of what it will be.
15:08OK, that's beautiful.
15:09Getting this kitchen right is super important,
15:11especially being a holiday house
15:13and it being like an open living concept.
15:15Except that we didn't design it.
15:17That's right, the girls didn't design the kitchen
15:20because back in week two, previous contestants,
15:23Jessie and Paige, had their consult with Kingsman.
15:26Do you like that?
15:28Do you know what?
15:29I do.
15:30I love it.
15:31Oh, I'm actually just like blown away.
15:36So our kitchen will have some cabinets,
15:41where I'm not sure.
15:43It will have a sink, a cooktop,
15:46an integrated fridge probably.
15:48And an integrated dishwasher.
15:50I'm really not 100% sure of what is coming.
15:53It's going to be a surprise to us all.
15:57BELL RINGS
16:00You too can get exclusive access to this week's room
16:03by heading to domains in the Know Hub.
16:06It's the go-to website where every Monday
16:09contestants can find my tips,
16:11plus all they need to know for another big week of renovations.
16:17Light and easy, always fresh.
16:20Ready?
16:21Ready.
16:22Need a bonky on the head?
16:23Yeah.
16:24I'm excited.
16:26Did you have to break something?
16:27Yeah.
16:28Yeah, we got to pull the first High Pages Lever of the series.
16:31Super invigorating.
16:33Run.
16:35Back in week two, we reintroduced the High Pages Lever.
16:40The High Pages Lever is back.
16:44This year, the High Pages Lever has been assigned to a particular room.
16:50And our blockheads decided the best way to allocate the rooms
16:53was to pull house numbers out of a hat.
16:55Leaving at the chance, wowee.
16:58We're locking in backyard week.
17:00We're in front yard.
17:01Living and dining.
17:02Rampers.
17:03Kitchen.
17:04Done.
17:05Of course, I took charge of that and I sledgehammered the glass.
17:10And pulled the lever.
17:12Done.
17:13Let's go.
17:14Let's go.
17:15I'll be happy to break them all if we need to.
17:17They can have it, but I'll just do the sledgehammering of the glass.
17:21We thought we'll go on SOS on our mezzanine level at our house.
17:26And Scotty arrived.
17:28I saw that from miles away.
17:30And I came soon as I saw the signal.
17:33Oh, I love it.
17:34The signal.
17:35Wow.
17:36We've got a very big space down there.
17:38So, are we looking at plastering?
17:40For this week, I think just help with the plaster.
17:42Plaster.
17:43Yeah.
17:44Big area.
17:45Okay, well, I can post for plasterers.
17:47Calling in extra plasterers at this point.
17:49Just because of the scale of the room.
17:51So, I think it's going to be a massive help if we add a few more people.
17:54And this year, in addition to $10,000 of High Pages tradies,
17:58the teams will be receiving $5,000 cash.
18:01Pulling the High Pages lever, it comes with five grand cash
18:05to this week's room.
18:06So, what are you going to do with that?
18:08Something to do with the island bench, whether it be stools, the pendant.
18:11I like it.
18:12You like it?
18:13I do.
18:14Good.
18:15Okay, I'll go and post.
18:17We need some money on Kitchen Week, so we better win.
18:20So, I'm posting Carly and Brad's plasterer request on High Pages.
18:24The easiest way to connect with trusted tradies.
18:28While Scotty books in the job,
18:31let me tell you about Phillip Island.
18:35It's an island.
18:38And that means we need lifesavers.
18:43So, that gave my mate Scotty Cairn a great idea.
18:48Rise and shine, Blockheads.
18:49We have a wonderful chance today to help out our local community.
18:52Slip on these stylish uniforms.
18:54Slap on some sunscreen.
18:55Slap on a hat.
18:58Or that thing.
18:59Why are your shorts so short?
19:01They're probably too big.
19:03See you at Cape Willamoy Beach.
19:05Excited to see everyone there, Scotty.
19:07This does not look warm enough.
19:10Oh, cute.
19:13Do I have to put this on too?
19:22I look like a ballpoint pen.
19:24Wow, look at you. You look fantastic.
19:28Welcome to Willamoy Beach.
19:31Now, Shelly sends her apologies.
19:33She couldn't make it today, but we have Keith.
19:37Keith is here.
19:39Now, behind me is the Willamoy Surf Club,
19:42a volunteer non-profit organisation.
19:45They are a fantastic organisation
19:47that has performed countless rescues,
19:49saved thousands of lives along the way.
19:53The literal beating heart of the community here with me is Jason.
19:57Jason is the president of the Surf Club.
20:00Jason, how can we help?
20:02Well, Scotty, thanks for coming down today.
20:04We'd love it if you can help us out a bit.
20:06As you said, we're a volunteer organisation.
20:08We've been serving the community here at Willamoy for 65 years.
20:12Our clubhouse is about 20 years old and needs a bit of TLC.
20:16We'd love it if you could do a few things to help us out,
20:19give the place a little bit of a lift
20:21and make it a better place for our volunteer lifesavers
20:24to patrol from and life-save from.
20:27Mate, not a problem.
20:28Your challenge today is to breathe new life
20:32into the main function area up in the Surf Club.
20:35Now, there are two areas up there to be done.
20:38So I'm going to split you into two teams
20:41and to determine the two teams,
20:44you are to pick the strongest swimmer in your group.
20:50It was cold, windy.
20:53The surf was going absolutely ballistic.
20:56I was very concerned that they were asking us to get in the water.
21:00You are to swim out there to that line.
21:11Willamoy Surf Beach, it looks like a giant washing machine
21:17with, like, 6½ foot swells.
21:23That's not where you want to be swimming.
21:25No, of course not. You're not swimming out there.
21:28We're going to play a game of Poison Ball
21:31to see who wins.
21:33And you will pick your team and pick your area as well.
21:36But wait on, Scotty, the teams won't be even.
21:38I know. I'm glad you said that, Keith.
21:40The teams will not be even.
21:42But I've thought of that and I've got a plan.
21:53Who's up?
21:54Oh, Kalikara.
21:56Stop it!
21:58Kyle and Kara.
22:00Kyle and Kara rocked up on...
22:02It was like...
22:03It was like the opening of Baywatch.
22:05Yeah.
22:06I could hear the tunes in my head.
22:08Like...
22:11No, it was just like slow-moing down the beach.
22:19Kyle and Kara were a standout in their season back in 2014.
22:24My mind is just blown.
22:26You did the best room ever in any elimination.
22:32With a perfect score, the Super Ks.
22:39Ladies and gentlemen, it's the Super Ks.
22:44Hey, Kyle and Kara, thanks so much for coming down here.
22:48Welcome back to the block.
22:49And thanks for coming to help out the blockheads
22:51in this very, very important challenge.
22:53Thanks so much for having us, guys.
22:55That was fun.
22:56The winner of this game
22:57will earn the help of all-stars Kyle and Kara.
23:00They will also choose their teammates
23:02and choose which side of the surf club they work on.
23:05Each team will get a budget of $5,000.
23:09The team that does the best area and wins this challenge
23:12will win a massive $10,000 cash from CommBank.
23:18And the kicker is that the team that's got Kyle and Kara
23:22doesn't have to share the money with them.
23:25Are you ready to fight for Kyle and Kara?
23:28Hell yeah.
23:29Alright, Poison Ball it is. Let's go.
23:31What's the rules of Poison Ball?
23:33Don't get hit.
23:35If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
23:46Run!
23:47Get him! Get him!
23:53Alright, there you go. Go, go, go!
23:55Go on! Go on!
23:57Go on!
23:59How do you do?
24:01How do you go?
24:06Maybe it's...
24:09Strike him there, mate. Get him.
24:12Oh!
24:14Drink him.
24:19Get out.
24:23Oh, no!
24:27Ow!
24:29Is that a bump?
24:31I'm not.
24:32Why?
24:33It was above the waist.
24:35Above the waist doesn't count.
24:38Well done, Courtney!
24:40Oh, no!
24:44Go, go, go, go!
24:47No!
24:53See, that's tactics.
25:01Oh!
25:03Victory!
25:04Victory!
25:06Nice, Hayden!
25:08Luckily, Hayden can dodge wrenches, because I can't.
25:16I won, of course.
25:18Came down to the last two.
25:20Brad got absolutely nailed.
25:22There's a cracking shot.
25:23It was a belter.
25:24I think it was the same bloke, too, that got you.
25:26Yeah, he was a sniper.
25:28Yeah, if he's as good at life-saving as what he is throwing a dodge ball...
25:32Wow.
25:33...that dude can save lives.
25:34Right-o, fellas, well done. Congratulations.
25:36You have won the Super Ks.
25:37Yes!
25:38Team Ricky and Hayden, and you have one more choice for a team member.
25:41Who's it going to be?
25:42Brad and Kylie.
25:43Woo!
25:44Brad and Kylie.
25:45OK, that is Team Ricky and Hayden.
25:47And the other two.
25:50Let's go, the other team!
25:51Off you go!
25:52Woo!
26:01It's Monday afternoon, which means the Blockheads' build teams
26:04are busy getting their subfloors down.
26:06It's always a great day when there's a challenge on and there's no contestants here,
26:10because things happen quick.
26:13Not only do the 96 builders get so much done,
26:16but the contestants' builders get so much done.
26:19And everyone's had an epic day.
26:21There's floors going down everywhere.
26:23Well, except for House 3.
26:26Normally, you start from the ground and work yourself up,
26:29but Duncan's had this genius idea.
26:31He's going to start from the top and work down.
26:33So he's actually plastered his ceiling on a Monday,
26:36and then he's going to do the floor Tuesday,
26:38in hope that come Wednesday, the boys can start spraying
26:41all of their ceiling and walls before joinery.
26:45Genius idea if it pays off.
26:48Whilst it's full steam ahead at the Block,
26:50it's time for the teams to get stuck into their challenge
26:53at the Woolamai Surf Lifesaving Club.
26:56You've got to think about the functionality of this space, OK?
27:00This is a meeting room. It's a hangout room. It's a dining room.
27:03There's a bar and a kitchen.
27:05It's also a training facility where young people are taught how to be lifesavers.
27:09At the same time that we're bringing functionality,
27:11we want to keep the spirit and the culture that's existing in the club.
27:15I call it contemporary casual.
27:18As you can see, I have divvied the room up with my line all the way through here.
27:23You guys have got the choice.
27:25Ricky and Hayden, which side do you want?
27:28Mate, yeah, we're definitely taking one side with the bar, mate.
27:32If anyone can organise the best place for Sunday drinks, it's us.
27:36Copy that. You've got this side.
27:38You guys have got that side.
27:40It's a great cause. Put your heart and soul into it. Good luck.
27:44Today, with the help of the Super Ks and Kylie and Brad,
27:47Ricky and Hayden's team will take on the island side of the surf club,
27:51which includes the dining area and the all-important bar.
27:55The other team will take on the ocean side,
27:57which includes the function space and lounge area.
28:00While the Blockheads get stuck in,
28:02our friends from CommBank are providing a team to spruce up the bunk rooms.
28:06I'll tackle the kitchen, and Keith and the boys from nine and six
28:10will make over the outdoor barbecue area.
28:13I like this. We've got the bar. We've got the fridge.
28:16We're half stocked full of drinks already.
28:18We know bars. Generally, we spend most of our time on one side of them, though,
28:22so it will be interesting to be on the other side.
28:24But the secret weapon is Kyle and Cara.
28:26Like, Kyle's a weapon at building, and Cara's a superstar stylist,
28:30and she had plenty of ideas.
28:32I wonder if you could build in, like, a bench seat along here.
28:35Maybe we can find out if we can build something new.
28:38Then we can style it with cushions.
28:40Design-wise, it's just trying to stick with more of a coastal look
28:43and bring a bit more mood into the club.
28:45Some sort of dark blues and adding a lot more color into the area.
28:49Lighting and fans, and bringing the bar to life.
28:52Like a nice bench top, some really phenomenal stools.
28:55Feeling confident. Yeah, feeling good.
28:57Very confident.
28:58Yeah.
28:59Confident with a K.
29:00We've got the K team.
29:01Yeah.
29:02We've got the A team.
29:03Making me feel fuzzy, guys.
29:05LAUGHTER
29:11MUSIC
29:19Our area is function room and the lounge area.
29:22Chill-out area here.
29:23This could be our feature wall.
29:25What are your initial thoughts?
29:26Paint.
29:27I want to paint tonight.
29:29The plan is to bring a bit more of the club inside.
29:33Incorporate the history.
29:34It's a memorabilia of the club,
29:36and that's a big thing we wanted to incorporate into our site.
29:38The space is nice and open.
29:40We're doing, like, lounging area.
29:42Maybe some nice sheers.
29:44You know, you never know.
29:45Maybe we can call on some favours from our friends.
29:47To help our teams deliver a reno the surf club truly deserves,
29:51I've organised some help from our amazing friends
29:54at Freedom, Shots, Beacon and Big Ass Fans.
29:58Our teams will also be selecting some new roller blinds
30:02and sheer curtains by the team at Home Pro by DIY Blinds.
30:06What's that one?
30:08Linen.
30:09You know I love a linen.
30:10Yeah.
30:11And is this going to be, like, hard-wearing?
30:12Hard-wearing. Great for this area.
30:14Very durable.
30:15Primo recycled jacket.
30:17Let's do it.
30:27We've got all our planning locked in.
30:29Yeah, we're painting tomorrow night.
30:31Go team.
30:32Go team.
30:33Yeah!
30:34Woo!
30:36Yeah!
30:37That didn't work out well at all.
30:41G'day, gang.
30:42Can I introduce the man himself as I live and breathe,
30:46Christian Cole.
30:47Welcome, mate.
30:51How are you?
30:52Good, how are you?
30:53I know, long time no see.
30:54Good to see you.
30:55Christian, this is Ricky.
30:56Ricky.
30:57Thanks, mate.
30:58Jeez, Ricky, what's going on there?
30:59I'm about to put my safety boots on.
31:00Oh, mate, I love those.
31:02So, the man himself,
31:04probably the greatest timber man I've ever met.
31:07Kinsmen are going to do the cabinetry underneath, correct?
31:10Correct.
31:11We need a benchtop, mate, like magnificent, standout.
31:13Bit of wow factor.
31:14I've got some old recycled timber here.
31:16It'll be a fair bit lighter than that.
31:18I think it'll look really good.
31:19Awesome, mate.
31:20How long have I got?
31:21We'll need it installed Wednesday evening.
31:23Today's Monday, righto.
31:24All right.
31:25Lucky I've got some quick-drying glue.
31:26Yeah, yeah.
31:28We just met Christian Cole,
31:30so he's taken charge of that benchtop.
31:33Kinsmen cabinetry going in.
31:34Yeah.
31:35Mr Cabinets are going to do us a nice entertainment area.
31:38We've got some lovely shears and some roller blinds going in
31:41to just enhance the visual a little bit more.
31:43And we're going to use some of Kyle's skills
31:45to build us a nice bench seat.
31:47It's going to run along the back wall.
31:48Got to take advantage when we can.
31:50So, can we start drawing up, work out what we want,
31:52pick some finishes and hit the ground running.
31:55Cool.
31:56Here, can you hold the other side of this?
31:57Meanwhile, on the other team,
31:58sisters Maddie and Charlotte
32:00are getting right into the charity spirit.
32:02We love doing this kind of thing.
32:04We love serving in our community,
32:05so this was such a cool experience.
32:07And to know that we could have such an impact
32:09on the space that they spend so much time...
32:11And probably for future years, for, like, years and years to come.
32:14Like, so many more Surf Lifesavers
32:16will be coming through this space as well.
32:18Yeah.
32:19So that was really...
32:20Yeah, we loved it.
32:29Now, our regular viewers will be aware
32:32that every week we treat our winners
32:34to a night away from the block.
32:36A night of the finest of locations
32:38with the finest foods
32:40and, of course, the finest company.
32:43And why should that be any different
32:45for last week's joint winners,
32:47Courtney and Grant and Christian and Mimi?
32:49Oh!
32:50The winner's dinner.
32:51Woo-hoo!
32:52You got to go away with Scotty.
32:54Oh, no, you didn't.
32:56We didn't have a winner's dinner.
32:58We felt like that would have been a really good winner's dinner too.
33:01And we would have loved to go away with Mimi and Christian.
33:03Because we drew,
33:05we had to cook dinner.
33:08I don't know how that's a prize.
33:10Well, let's be fair, you didn't just get to cook,
33:14you also got to shop for said dinner.
33:17Lamb, garlic, tomatoes.
33:19Is that enough?
33:20We're feeding a lot of people.
33:22Maybe get two.
33:23I reckon we get another leg of lamb.
33:24I want cutlets.
33:25No.
33:26And share said dinner with all your fellow blockheads.
33:30Dinner is served!
33:33Mimi and Grant came out with...
33:37That's right.
33:38...with a big feed for the table.
33:39Somehow they managed to get to find the time
33:42to cook us a massive feast
33:44on the same day we're doing a challenge.
33:46Ready?
33:47Whoa!
33:50I'm sick!
33:53OK, so the waitstaff might be a bit substandard,
33:56but we didn't skimp on the special guests.
33:59Cole and Cara are our special guests.
34:01Yeah, I managed to get a seat next to Cara,
34:03so I'm pretty excited about this dinner.
34:05We actually have a present for you guys.
34:07What?
34:08But I have to give it to two people.
34:11Oh, yeah, Jimmy.
34:12We'll share it.
34:13I'll let them touch it.
34:15$5,000 for us and $5,000 for you guys.
34:19Yay!
34:21The Super Ks are phenomenal.
34:23Like, they're lovely, they're down to earth.
34:25I swear they've gone back in time,
34:27so how they haven't aged, I have no idea.
34:30They're actually sitting right in front of their picture
34:33on the wall,
34:34and they look better now than what they did then.
34:37It's actually crazy.
34:38The best part of advice I can give you guys
34:40is when you do judging and you get your feedback
34:43from the judges,
34:44like, we had a couple of pretty low weeks
34:46where we got pretty belted around,
34:48and you just got to take those moments
34:50as constructive criticism.
34:52You know what I mean?
34:53If you can, like, learn from that
34:54and read between the lines of what they're actually telling you,
34:57like, you can use that and you can grow from that
34:59and make your rooms, like, heaps better.
35:01When you're in it, you're so emotional.
35:03Like, I remember getting feedback
35:05and being like, I don't agree with that.
35:07And then I look back at the photos,
35:09and I'm like, yeah, I see what they're saying.
35:12But because you're in it, you're, like, too invested.
35:14It's your whole life.
35:15Thank you for joining us
35:16for our Winners and Grinners dinners.
35:18Cheers.
35:19Cheers, guys.
35:22Cheers, guys.
35:25And thanks for the cash.
35:31It's day two of Kitchen Week,
35:33and for someone, it's a very special day.
35:36It was my birthday on Tuesday,
35:38so that was fun on the block.
35:39I will never forget it.
35:41I'm just on the My Maccas app at the moment,
35:43and I'm thinking of getting 25 hash browns
35:45because she's turning 25,
35:46and probably just a few coffees for us and the boys.
35:50Honestly, it was a non-event.
35:51Well, actually, you guys made it an event.
35:54I got you a birthday present.
35:56Oh, did you now?
35:57Happy birthday.
35:58Oh, thanks.
35:59I got you 25 hash browns for your 25th birthday.
36:02Oh, wow.
36:04It'll be a nice memory forever,
36:05knowing that, like, I had my 25th birthday on the block.
36:08A quarter-life crisis on the block.
36:11Yeah, this is my quarter-life crisis.
36:13You can have as many as you want.
36:14Well, there's 25.
36:1525?
36:16A handful of people did, like, come up and say happy birthday,
36:20but then a handful of people didn't,
36:22but, you know, that's okay.
36:24Like, I don't expect them to remember.
36:27Good morning, Australia.
36:28Here with Mimi and Courtney.
36:30My, my, I caught on.
36:32Yeah, I definitely think it's a close-knit group,
36:34and there's a part of me that sometimes feels like
36:37we're not part of that.
36:39It's one of those things where you're like,
36:40oh, like, how long do we play catch-up
36:43before either they let us in or, you know,
36:48we just kind of are going to do our own journey,
36:50which I don't want to do.
36:51Like, I want to be a part of, you know.
36:53I was one of the girls.
36:54I feel like they need more depth and drama in their personality.
36:59Hey!
37:03Don't cheeky.
37:05I'd be putting in a...
37:07I'm a villain.
37:09No, you're not.
37:10So what do you think about Maddie and Charlotte?
37:12Charlotte and Maddie are babies.
37:14They're little itty-bitty babies.
37:16What do you think about Maddie and Charlotte, Brad?
37:18Who?
37:20No, I just got no opinion on them.
37:22I think they just, um, they're there.
37:25They're in house one.
37:26I still look at it like it's Paige and Jessie's place.
37:30Um, I have made it clear to the girls
37:32that I don't like being touched,
37:34so stop touching me.
37:36Who touches you?
37:38I play with my hair.
37:39They're, like, going like this.
37:40They're, like, just letting you know I don't like being touched.
37:44And they're, like, oh, sorry.
37:46And they're, like...
37:49I get nightmares.
37:51With Kitchen Week underway,
37:53some of the teams are staying on site
37:55while others are hitting the road to shop for the challenge.
37:58See you'll be back.
37:59That's very true. Thank you.
38:00Yep, we always do.
38:01Got to go to shots.
38:03We've got a beacon.
38:04Freedom.
38:05And girls not coming with you?
38:07No, the girls are going to stay here on site.
38:10Do we want to have a meeting about, like, the layout,
38:14or are you kind of just going to run with it
38:16and see what you can find?
38:18We'll have a look, and then we'll send some options.
38:21Yeah.
38:22Only if you're OK with that, cos I'm so happy to come.
38:25But whatever works.
38:27Yep. OK. Awesome.
38:29I'm choosing to believe that that was them being kind
38:34and not wanting me to be there.
38:37Only if you guys are sure, cos I'm so happy to come with you.
38:40Totally fine. I want to smash it out.
38:42I've got to stay here for the first bit,
38:44and then we'll be painting tonight.
38:45The dream team here.
38:46We actually get a lot done when we shop together.
38:48We've got to be quick, in and out.
38:49So whilst Maddie stays on site, Courtney and Mimi hit the shops.
38:53Shots, shots.
38:56Party!
38:58It's so practical.
38:59Does this spin? Please tell me it spins.
39:01Yes!
39:02What about these?
39:03I love that.
39:04Love that.
39:05All right, so let's do three tables, and let's do 15 chairs.
39:09Across town, Carly and Hayden are also shopping for the challenge.
39:14How many cushions did you say you needed again?
39:1616.
39:1716. OK.
39:18That one's good, yeah.
39:19And this one here.
39:20This is cute.
39:21Yeah, it's nice.
39:22Take them all.
39:23Yeah, yeah.
39:24This whole wall, really.
39:25Like, this one, this one.
39:26Yeah, everything's going.
39:27Jump.
39:28Oh, you did.
39:29I was like, don't you dare knock the lamp down.
39:31Let's do it.
39:33To save time shopping in store,
39:35Carly has called ahead and placed her order at Beacon.
39:38Oh, look, car service.
39:40Look at this.
39:42Car service.
39:43How good is that?
39:44Oh, yes.
39:45Beautiful.
39:46Only I get this kind of service.
39:48I know.
39:49Shall we stop for drinks, then?
39:52That'd make it worth it.
40:01Kitchen week is well underway,
40:03and all the features that our blockhead selected back in week two
40:07are arriving thick and fast.
40:13The beginning of the week was pretty hectic
40:16because we were trying to decode what had already been ordered.
40:21I think the kitchen will hopefully come out.
40:23Yeah, just a little bit gives enough room.
40:25And then potentially...
40:26Ooh, hello, ABR.
40:28Hi.
40:29Is this a tap?
40:30I hope we like it.
40:31It's more than just a tap.
40:32Well, we didn't even pick this out.
40:34We didn't know the floorboard selection.
40:36I didn't know the colour of the cabinets.
40:38I didn't know the colour of the sink.
40:40I didn't know what tapware,
40:41until the kitchen actually just rocked up,
40:43and I was like, oh.
40:44I'm hoping it's like an antique brass,
40:47similar to the door handle.
40:49Oh, OK, that's not what I was...
40:51OK.
40:52That's brushed nickel.
40:53That's not what I was thinking, but...
40:56That's OK.
40:57It's beautiful.
40:58That's really nice stuff, though.
41:00I think we can work something out, yeah?
41:01That's good.
41:02I mean, this is beautiful,
41:03but I'm pretty sure the handles of our kitchen
41:05is like an antique-y kind of colour.
41:08I can show you the wardrobe,
41:09because I think they're the same.
41:11The girls don't have much chance to change things,
41:13but when they do have an opportunity,
41:15they take it.
41:16We wanted to move a little bit away
41:18from the modern colonial,
41:19which was the tap that they had
41:20and which had been delivered to us.
41:22We'd love to get a tap
41:23that kind of looks like our handles.
41:25It has to change somehow.
41:27OK, so this is what we're kind of working with.
41:30OK, so an aged brass.
41:31Aged brass kind of vibe.
41:33These are the same handles
41:35that are going on the kitchen,
41:36so I think having a brushed nickel against that
41:39is not going to be it.
41:40We've got a brushed brass,
41:41but it's a bit brighter.
41:43It's not too far off this.
41:45Yeah.
41:46It's something we've got in the pipeline, but not...
41:48And there's no way you can push that?
41:50Are you sure?
41:51Is there no one you can talk to above?
41:52Samples?
41:53I can...
41:54I can try.
41:55OK, well, if you could get us, like, a sample...
41:57I can find out.
41:58..of two of them...
41:59I can definitely find out.
42:00..that would be absolutely amazing.
42:02I can find out.
42:03Perfect, cool.
42:05Thank you so much.
42:06Over at the Woolamai Surf Lifesaving Club...
42:08Yeah!
42:09..the Super Ks are right back into the thick of it.
42:12Alongside their team,
42:13they're well on their way to transforming the surf club.
42:21We've been busy today.
42:22Me and Kyle have been doing our DIY bench seat down below,
42:26so it was a bit of fun.
42:27Extra seating, bit of storage.
42:29Storage underneath.
42:30Yeah.
42:31We're going to lift up lid...
42:32Yep.
42:33..so the guys can come in and put all their stuff underneath.
42:35We've got a backrest that we're going to make too.
42:37So, yeah, she's coming together.
42:39Budgie smugglers in here.
42:41Goggles in this one.
42:42Goggles, yeah.
42:44So what's left,
42:45we've got to finish doing the backrests for the bench seat
42:48and then obviously install them.
42:50We've got to finish painting probably
42:51before we put the bench seats in.
42:52We've still got a bar to put together.
42:54The kitchen's got to come together.
42:56The kinsmen are putting their bits together,
42:58so there's still plenty to do.
43:00So it looks like our blockheads are ripping into their renters.
43:05Well, half of the blockheads.
43:07We're actually the only ones here.
43:09I don't know if the other team's thrown the towel in or...
43:12I don't know what the other team is up to.
43:15That's not our problem.
43:16That's not...
43:17They should be here right now.
43:19The other team, yeah, they, um...
43:21There's crickets going on over there.
43:23Crickets.
43:25Back at the block.
43:26Other teams are keeping busy on this week's kitchens
43:29and, according to 4Dan, next week's rooms as well.
43:33You don't need any plaster?
43:34Nah.
43:35They got too much, did they?
43:37Way too much.
43:38Yeah, the girls didn't get any more plaster this week, did they?
43:40Jessie ordered last week, but the week before I ordered,
43:43and there was three or four extra sheets.
43:45But then, yeah, there was...
43:48And it seems as though House 2
43:50have also overordered on their gyprock this week.
43:54It is an awful lot of plaster, isn't it?
43:56What's going on?
43:57Like, why have we overordered? That's what I'm...
44:01The reason is we don't overorder is for this reason right now.
44:05Yeah, I get it.
44:07Everyone else has been doing it,
44:09and now you've advanced for another week.
44:11Sorry?
44:12Now you've advanced by having plaster here early for another week.
44:16Basically, he thinks that we are cheating
44:20or putting ourselves at an unfair advantage
44:22cos we accidentally overordered on some gyprock this week.
44:25I just got the measurements off Sam.
44:27So it might have been a mistake.
44:28But did you order it?
44:29Yeah, I ordered it, but I'm not a plasterer,
44:31so I don't know exactly...
44:32But it's your job, you know.
44:33Like, you've ordered 40-something sheets for...
44:36Yeah.
44:37One, two, three, four walls.
44:38It's not like I've done it every week either.
44:40It's not.
44:41But you know, if you do four walls, you don't need 40 sheets.
44:43Yeah, yeah.
44:44You know that.
44:45Yeah, I mean, he said 42 sheets.
44:47It's not quite 42, but anyway.
44:49I'm going to have to speak to Scotty,
44:51and there's going to be consequences next week.
44:53I can't shut you down early this week
44:55cos I need Kingsman in there, I need floors.
44:58But the following week, there's going to be consequences.
45:01What for? I don't get it.
45:02For overordering.
45:03It's cheating.
45:04You've overordered for next week.
45:06We haven't ordered for next week, have we?
45:08That there, that's for next week.
45:09I can tell, looking at it.
45:10So did they get consequences for...
45:12They didn't order that.
45:13That was the other contestants.
45:14Everyone else has...
45:15I know, I've seen...
45:16Well, whoever else has got extra, if it's four times the amount...
45:19No, as I said, it was accidental in terms of ordering this week.
45:22Yeah.
45:23There's going to be consequences next week.
45:25Of course there is.
45:30Dan's right.
45:31Thou shall not order materials in excess of current week's needs.
45:35In other words, you can't store anything on site for future weeks.
45:41If that's the case, if we're going to be punished,
45:43do you mind if we go for a wander and see who has more...
45:45I'm going now.
45:46No, I'll come with you and we'll go...
45:47That's my job.
45:48We'll punish everybody.
45:49I want you to get all that inside, mate.
45:50Yeah, and I will.
45:51But I know that everybody else stacks plaster.
45:53Just relax.
45:54No, that's my job.
45:55I'll go around and do that.
45:56You just worry about you.
45:57I'll worry about everyone else.
45:58No, all I'm saying is I know everybody else has been stacking plaster
46:00for the last five weeks.
46:01I'm going to check it now.
46:02Nobody got penalised for that.
46:03They haven't ordered four times the amount.
46:05After I spoke to you on Saturday when you got something else delivered...
46:08Yeah.
46:09You've neglected me.
46:10Yeah.
46:11Now you've overordered again.
46:13You've taken the piss out of me.
46:14How have I taken the piss?
46:15So I'm going to track you down next week.
46:16Please explain how I've taken the piss.
46:17Because I told you the other day...
46:18About the furniture.
46:19Don't pre-order.
46:20About the furniture.
46:21About anything.
46:22And you pre-ordered again right in front of me.
46:23We missed out on two days.
46:24No, don't.
46:25No, mate.
46:26We've taken the piss.
46:27You look at authority like it's nothing.
46:29No, I don't.
46:30There's a reason why we do this.
46:31Have I ever looked at authority like it's nothing?
46:32And you've disrespected me by over-ordering again.
46:33How have I looked at authority like it's nothing?
46:34Because I told you on Saturday, don't over-order.
46:36Yeah, you did.
46:37You did tell me about the furniture.
46:38And what have you done?
46:39You did tell me about the furniture.
46:40And what have you done?
46:41But I told you...
46:42You've over-ordered, yes?
46:43No, we didn't over-order.
46:44Yes or no?
46:45Facts.
46:46Yeah, it's an error.
46:47It was an error that we've over-ordered.
46:48You've over-ordered?
46:49Yes or no?
46:50Yeah, it was an error that we've over-ordered.
46:51You spoke about pre-ordering furniture,
46:52nothing about over-ordering...
46:53No, I said don't over-order for future weeks.
46:54That's exactly what you've done.
46:55So yes, I'm annoyed.
46:56I'm actually really pissed off about it.
46:57Yeah.
46:58So I'm going around checking now
46:59and finding out what everyone else has done.
47:00We're not by disrespected authority.
47:01Okay.
47:02By pre-ordering after I told you on Saturday not to.
47:03We spoke about the furniture then.
47:04You see, you can't...
47:05It's the same thing.
47:06Don't over-order.
47:07We don't have space on the job...
47:08Yeah.
47:09...for you to keep storing things.
47:10Yeah, okay.
47:11The furniture was one thing.
47:12Now you've done it with plaster.
47:13Yeah.
47:14Okay?
47:15As well as everybody else.
47:16You're a smart man.
47:17Don't try and play the game.
47:18I'm not playing the game.
47:19I'm not playing the game.
47:20And you know when you order 42 sheets,
47:21you're over-ordering.
47:22I'm not playing the game.
47:23You're a smart man, yes or no?
47:24I'm not playing the game.
47:25You're not playing the game.
47:26I'm not playing the game.
47:32Christian?
47:33Yeah.
47:34This plaster here...
47:35Yep.
47:36...that's just for this room?
47:37I think it was the over-order.
47:39How much?
47:40A little bit.
47:41Why?
47:42Because you couldn't be bothered ringing and checking.
47:44No, it wasn't that I couldn't be bothered.
47:45It was that yesterday morning we had it open for inspections.
47:47As everyone else does.
47:48As everyone else does?
47:49Yeah.
47:50You're not the only ones that have that.
47:51Yeah.
47:52What's changed since week one when we've spoke about this?
47:53spoke about this. Why does all of a sudden everyone think they can over-order? What's
47:56changed from now and then? It wasn't an over-order. You just admitted it. You just told me you
48:00over-ordered. No, it was an over-order obviously accidentally. Now we've got extra sheets
48:03everywhere. They're going to get damaged. Probably going to get thrown out. Disrespect
48:07to CSR. Disrespect to us on site. We've given instructions. There was no disrespect. I can't
48:13this week give you any penalties. Yeah. Because I need to get Kingsman in and flaws. Okay.
48:18There's going to be consequences next week. Okay. Don't over-order. Yeah. It was an honest mistake.
48:26I don't care. No stress. I've just had to barrel someone else. Yeah. And then they
48:31alerted me to come here. Ah, a little cheeky dog. No idea. I would not have a clue who told Dan.
48:48Today is Truecore Tuesday, but the boys' builder Duncan has given today a whole new meaning.
48:56Remember yesterday, Duncan had the cunning idea to get the roof plastered while everyone else was
49:01doing their floors, which would allow the boys to get painting early once the floors go in.
49:08Well, Dunk's next stage of that cunning idea is about to be executed.
49:13Dunk has a bit of a new plan for this week. So it's a big space and the kitchen,
49:17dining that are joined onto each other have a large section of subfloor. And Dunk's plan is to
49:22build that subfloor out of steel by Truecore because Truecore is making steel frames on site,
49:27which is all free. So we believe it's going to save us probably around eight to 10K in materials
49:34in that space alone. So it's a huge play by Dunk. Yesterday, the boys had a meeting with
49:38Peter from Truecore to understand how a Truecore subfloor works. So we're going to basically run
49:44you a great big line like this of joists, which will just mean you get that packing to a level,
49:53right, because your floor's all over the shop. You get that level for us, we'll come along,
49:57we'll put joists in and you're done. We'll plan for the whole area to make the whole area for you.
50:03Yeah, perfect. So the boys have got 105 square metres of subfloor in this open plan space.
50:09And building the subfloor out of Truecore will bring down their spending significantly
50:14this week. This is it. This is the Truecore subfloor. And look, look how straight it's going
50:22to be. I want to try and do the best for the boys. They're on a great challenge. And while they're
50:28out, we just want to help them so they finish this week. But put it this way. I think we've
50:37given them every chance and every possibility that we're capable of for them to finish this
50:43week and hopefully get a win. The sheer scale of the block is difficult for anyone. But imagine
50:51being the first team ever to start the block in week five. At home, the sisters also do accounting
50:58work. So they're meeting with Joe to get some financial planning advice. I know you guys have
51:05lots of information coming at you. But I'm hoping to make things really easy for you because I'm a
51:10huge advocate of Xero. And it's really simple to use. And I think it'll really help you get
51:14your head around where your budget is, where all your money's sitting really quickly. In Xero,
51:19your bank transactions are automatically loaded into software. So you'll see all your ins and
51:24outs coming through really easily. Last week, you guys had Zac in. So you just have to add Zac in
51:31and categorise it to an account. And then you add the total in and hit done. It's so simple to use,
51:37you won't have any dramas. But if you do need something, just let me know.
51:44For our contestants, their whole life becomes the block, including their birthdays.
51:49So it was Tuesday night, it was Madeleine's birthday, and we're like painting party. How
51:53great. Who wouldn't want a painting party on their birthday? How are we actually going to
51:56finish this project? We need to do a six hour night tomorrow night for all of us to get the
52:00painting done and done properly. Yeah, so that's a big day. Yep. So Tuesday around six or seven,
52:06we were like, what's it go everyone? And everyone's like, I'm really busy doing installation.
52:10And the girls have been shopping all day. So they were napping, I think. Yeah, they were having a
52:14nap. And I was like, what's nap? Is it an hour? Is it 10 hours? Or are you waking up tomorrow morning?
52:19Like, I don't know what a nap is. Anyway, they were napping. So I didn't have contact with them.
52:23And then it just kept getting pushed back and back. And maybe around 10 or 11, don't even
52:27remember the time. Christian made the call that they were too tired to go. And we'll try again
52:33tomorrow. Okay, yeah. Okay, let's just regroup tomorrow. I mean, this should be a challenge
52:44week, but we're going to do it in one and a half days. No one at all on Tuesday? No one
52:50into the challenge on Tuesday? No one at all? No. Yeah, I made the decision to manage my time,
52:57go to the challenge a little later in the week, and stay on site on the Tuesday.
53:01Because otherwise, we would have received a time penalty if we weren't ready for flooring and
53:06kitchens on Wednesday morning. Your build team couldn't have handled that by themselves while
53:10you're at the challenge? No, definitely not. Not on that Tuesday. We allocated a couple of
53:16late nights there later on in the week to go to the challenge. Tomorrow night, at the challenge,
53:27Ormond Keith reaches his limit. We've got a day and a half before reveal. They've literally
53:32done nothing in this area. I'm going to go back to the block and be the blockinator again.
53:37And after a rocky start, it could be over for newbies Maddie and Charlotte. I don't want to
53:43be here. I'm like trying to backtrack from five weeks and like do a million things,
53:48so I'm overwhelmed. It's just not the way that I would have wanted things to end.
