00:00We're three weeks into the build on the idyllic hotspot of Phillip Island.
00:06But it's been no picnic for our rookie teams.
00:10Why do you have to carry on like this?
00:12You are being such a narcissist right now.
00:14Enough's enough.
00:15Seven grand's the number.
00:16If you don't want it, just let me know now so we can move forward.
00:18Yeah?
00:19And get married.
00:20That's all.
00:21Oh, I'm seriously concerned.
00:22If we don't start moving, I'll just send a waterproof IMD.
00:23Start moving?
00:24I've been moving all day, mate.
00:26Not sure I've got the right guy for the job at the moment.
00:31Wow, I love this so much.
00:37Last night, main en suites were delivered.
00:39This here is ticking all the boxes for a buyer.
00:43Well, all except for one.
00:45What the fudge is this?
00:48You're kidding me.
00:49There's not even waterproofing, let alone a tile.
00:53How you feeling, boys?
00:54It's been a tough week, I know.
00:56Yeah, mate.
00:57Feeling pretty flat today.
00:58After two weeks in second place, Courtney and Grant finally took home the win.
01:03We won.
01:04It's relief, not excitement at this point.
01:06And they weren't the only ones celebrating.
01:08What?
01:09We got a 10.
01:10The first 10 as well.
01:13I think that is just such good juju.
01:16Very difficult to get a 10 from Darren.
01:18Last time he gave someone a 10, they went on to win the block.
01:21Wow.
01:22Tonight...
01:23We're doing a kids' room.
01:24I'm so excited.
01:25So, so, so excited.
01:26Work begins in the second bedroom.
01:28Orders for my ten are done, CSR's done, true core's done.
01:31Alice and Marty drop by...
01:33Hello.
01:34...to throw Kylie completely off course.
01:37If you don't do bunks, I think that would be a miss.
01:40I wasn't aiming it at families.
01:42Like yeah, but no, like not a kids' kids' room.
01:45And Courtney and Grant celebrate their win...
01:48Whoa.
01:49...alongside block royalty, Elisa and Lysandra.
01:52Oh my God, oh my God.
01:53Oh my God.
01:54Oh my God.
01:55Oh my God.
01:56Oh my God.
01:57Oh my God.
01:58Oh my God.
01:59Oh my God.
02:00Wow, I was in shock.
02:01Welcome.
02:02Wow.
02:03And I don't think Grant knew who they were.
02:04I'm going to pull my hand up and admittedly say, I didn't know who they were.
02:22Yeah, so Monday morning, it's always an exciting time because we get to jump on the domain
02:30in the know hub.
02:32Stop touching.
02:33Stop.
02:34Mate.
02:35It's one person swipes at a time, bro.
02:36And find out what room we're doing.
02:37It's bedroom week.
02:38Yes.
02:39This week, teams will start work on the second guest bedrooms in their house and they're
02:46encouraged to provide a multifunctional space.
02:49Should the room be used as a guest room, maybe a study for someone, you put the grandparents
02:53there.
02:54An au pair.
02:55What's that?
02:56A pair is usually someone that looks after your kids.
03:01Just FYI.
03:02Ah, like a dog sitter.
03:04Correct.
03:05Nice.
03:06Definitely a new word for me.
03:07I haven't ever heard that word before.
03:11How were you feeling after the judging last night?
03:14It wasn't quite the roasting we were expecting last night.
03:17To not deliver an en-suite, yeah, we really felt like we'd let ourselves down.
03:21So we thought that we were going to get a bigger roasting.
03:25After a week plagued with build issues, Saturday, House 3 were forced to rip up their waterproofing
03:31and plaster after it was damaged.
03:34I'm deflated.
03:35I'm not going to be able to compete to win en-suite week, which is, I wanted to win a
03:39bathroom and en-suite on the block for my whole life.
03:42But the judges were pretty understanding.
03:45Wow.
03:47It feels like somebody walked off.
03:48That's what I feel.
03:49And it feels like somebody walked off at a point where they couldn't continue at all.
03:54And if that's the case, I feel really sorry for the boys.
03:57Oh, I feel sick for them.
03:59Yeah, it was disappointing.
04:00Like, I felt like we deserved to roast them.
04:02I really wanted someone else to rip in.
04:04Just be like, you're a disgrace, mate.
04:06You've let your team and your country down.
04:08Pull your heads in.
04:09But it was just like, oh, something obviously happened to the boys.
04:12This shows me that at least the boys came and swept it.
04:16They noticed the room was swept clean.
04:18And that's 2024 for you, you know?
04:20You get participation awards, and even when you stuff everything up, it's like, oh, at
04:24least they cleaned.
04:25No, roast me, damn it.
04:27What am I going to do for a roasting around here?
04:30What sort of score did you get for that effort?
04:32I think we got four out of a possible 30.
04:35I think that's the lowest score I've ever received in anything that I've ever got.
04:40I think I even scored higher in Chinese when I was doing Chinese in Year 9.
04:45And I sucked at Chinese.
04:47Give us your best Chinese now.
04:51And that translates to...
04:52Hello, teacher.
04:53And that's where it starts and ends.
04:57How was last night?
05:00Last night, we went to the pub, had some dinner.
05:04Were you talking about the judging?
05:06Yeah.
05:07Oh, sorry.
05:09Feedback was not great.
05:11It was quite harsh, but we took it in the parts that I agreed with.
05:19Oh.
05:20This is a massive drop of the ball.
05:22Yeah.
05:23For the winners of the previous weeks.
05:25Christian and Mimi came in fourth place last night on just 21 and a half points, which
05:30is quite the fall from grace for the team that took out the first two room wins.
05:36Maybe got a little bit arrogant.
05:37Maybe got a little bit too cocky.
05:38Maybe complacency.
05:40That's it.
05:42Was it upsetting?
05:43It was upsetting at the time.
05:46I don't believe I'm arrogant.
05:48I don't think I'm cocky.
05:52Maybe subconsciously we were complacent.
05:55But this week, we're just going to come back, you know, harder.
05:59That's all.
06:00I'm not going to dwell on it.
06:01Onwards and upwards.
06:03Water for ducks crack.
06:08I think it's back.
06:11Well, let's see what the rest of the teams think about House 5's main en suite at this
06:16morning's Open for Inspections.
06:25Our room, our selections, I stand by.
06:29It's more so the planning of the space.
06:33I've never seen such a useless shower.
06:38It's planned poorly.
06:39It's laid out poorly.
06:41I don't like their styling.
06:43We have a penguin and we have a penguin.
06:45It's naff.
06:46It's cliche.
06:47Like, no.
06:51Hmm.
06:52Sounds like mating season down at Penguin Parade.
06:54It does.
06:56There's a big shower.
06:57Why is it there?
07:00I think they could have halved it.
07:02I think there's a bit of wasted space here.
07:04They could have done bath and double shower where you walk in from the back.
07:07And they still would have had a massive shower.
07:09I don't mind it.
07:10Mate, they're fantastic.
07:11That's a perfect kite.
07:12That is a perfect kite.
07:13Mate, we could sit here just like this.
07:17I'll be the penguins.
07:19They're kind of cute.
07:20Like, they don't need to be there.
07:22Oh, the penguins.
07:24Yeah, not for me.
07:25Not for me.
07:26Mimi?
07:27And I like this tile.
07:28Yeah, I don't.
07:30I don't see how this isn't harsh and cold.
07:34I'm just not a fan.
07:36Is this how people feel when they walk into a house?
07:39Probably.
07:41Well, let's find out.
07:42House 4 came in third last night with their highest score of the competition so far.
07:47But the judges are still divided on Carly and Brad's aesthetic.
07:54It's so hard to step away from what you like.
07:57And I know we're not creating a house for ourselves.
08:01But why do I need to be coastal?
08:08Like, I don't think I need to be.
08:15This has just gone so far from what is needed in a beach house.
08:20It's not funny.
08:21I get that.
08:22But Phillip Island isn't just about the beach.
08:25And I think it's a massive step in the right direction.
08:29Ooh, I love it.
08:32Ooh.
08:33This is nice.
08:34This is beautiful.
08:35It feels like I'm in a really trendy hotel.
08:37Yeah.
08:39How is this not up there?
08:42I know.
08:43It's pretty luxe.
08:44Pretty sick, you know?
08:45Yeah.
08:46I think that could take a bit too hard.
08:48Again.
08:49What's this?
08:50Shower?
08:51Swiggy bubby.
08:53Oh my goodness.
08:55How'd they find this?
08:57I went to Japan.
08:59Oh.
09:00This is actually quite a cool look though.
09:02Yeah, it's from Mater 10.
09:03I think it really suits their house.
09:05Oh, they went with the black toilet paper again.
09:07I only found out three years into our relationship that he's a scruncher.
09:11Who's a scruncher?
09:12Would you have gone out with him if you knew that in the first place?
09:14Probably not.
09:15And I'm locked in to a scruncher.
09:19Coming in second place last night was House 1.
09:22Jessie and Paige scored 27.5 points.
09:25And the first 10 of the season from Darren Palmer.
09:28What?
09:35I mean, receiving a 10 on the block is a bit of a bucket list accomplishment.
09:38I know.
09:39I'm just reliving it all over again and I'm getting butterflies.
09:42Yeah.
09:43This is sophisticated, fresh.
09:46It's elegant.
09:48This here is ticking all the boxes for a buyer.
09:51In terms of layout and planning, this is a lot of fun.
09:55In terms of layout and planning, this is absolutely successful.
10:01Love the stone.
10:03Yeah, it's really nice.
10:04Beautiful.
10:06Damn!
10:08Wow.
10:09This is beautiful.
10:10It's really luxe.
10:12Well, I guess that's why they got a 10.
10:14It's definitely worth a 10.
10:16Yeah, very nice.
10:17It is very nice.
10:18Where are all the switches?
10:21Light switch outside.
10:22Must have been the outside.
10:25Yeah, all on the outside.
10:27Putting light switches on the outside of a room, that's an absolute disgrace.
10:30It should be an instant fail, as far as I'm concerned.
10:32The amount of time I've wasted looking for light switches in people's houses.
10:35If that doesn't bring the reserve down and their houses come auction day, I don't know what will.
10:41Yeah, look.
10:42It's the same layout as ours.
10:47Fake plan.
10:48Not a 10.
10:50Would you give it a 10?
10:51No.
10:52After coming second in the past two weeks by just half a point,
10:56last night Courtney and Grant finally took out the top spot.
11:00It's Courtney and Grant!
11:05With a massive score of 28 points.
11:07We're feeling good.
11:08We finally won.
11:09Finally.
11:10And we won by half a point.
11:13This is insane.
11:16Oh, I want to touch everything.
11:18It's sexy.
11:19And it's because of the texture.
11:21It's because of the matte finish.
11:23This is something that you'll find in a six-star hotel anywhere in the world.
11:31Oh my God.
11:33What a win.
11:34Well deserved.
11:36Wow.
11:37That Venetian plastering is stunning.
11:39That's a sick finish, isn't it?
11:41That's solid.
11:42Yeah.
11:44I think they deserve to win this week, from what I've seen.
11:47Yeah, I think because there's just character.
11:50Yeah, even that.
11:51Personality.
11:52I quite like it, but like there's too much on their vanity.
11:55Like that's too much styling.
11:57It's just way too much going on.
11:58Apparently not.
12:01Artwork in an en-suite.
12:02Yeah.
12:03Wow.
12:04Yeah.
12:05Wouldn't the steam and stuff wreck it?
12:06Mould.
12:07Yeah, yeah.
12:08Not if you've got the fan right above it.
12:09I don't know.
12:10I suppose all my magazines that I've kept in my toilet have lasted for...
12:13Kept themselves.
12:15I think it's just so, so luxurious.
12:18I think this deserves a 10.
12:20I profit.
12:21I should be very proud.
12:22I don't really want to leave this room.
12:23And this?
12:25I think I would have preferred something on a rail.
12:27Yeah.
12:28Yeah.
12:29What would you do with this?
12:31Jeez, this looks like a good time, doesn't it?
12:37This is square water as well.
12:40Very interesting place for equipment.
12:42That.
12:43Up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up.
12:50The judges weren't the only ones that our teams had to impress last week.
12:53On Saturday, resident block plumbers Tom and Marty, along with the boys from Rees,
12:58did their own walk-arounds to determine who they think should win a massive prize
13:03for their next bathroom.
13:05Something different.
13:06We've done that in England.
13:08And this morning, they've come to a decision.
13:10Hey, mate.
13:11Tommy.
13:12Hey, Courtney.
13:14How are you doing?
13:15Good.
13:16How are you?
13:17Good.
13:18How are you going?
13:19Good.
13:20How are you?
13:21Marty.
13:22Coming off the back of your win?
13:23Yeah.
13:24Well, Rees have asked us to hand out an award for the best bathroom on the block.
13:25Now, it's a $10,000 bathroom upgrade for your next bathroom.
13:28For us?
13:29For you guys, yeah.
13:30Seriously?
13:31Yeah.
13:32Well done, Courtney.
13:34Enjoy that.
13:35Oh, this is amazing.
13:36Yeah.
13:38Yay!
13:39Double win.
13:40Double win.
13:41I'm so happy.
13:43This is amazing.
13:44That's awesome.
13:45$10,000 means we can do a really, really nice main en suite again upstairs.
13:48Upstairs, yeah.
13:49And now I know I'm just going to keep photocopying this every week.
13:52And I just keep getting $10,000 from Rees.
13:54Guys, we want another $10,000.
13:55You don't know it, but it's happened.
13:56It's happened.
13:57Here's another one.
13:58Coming up.
13:59Do I fit in it?
14:00Yeah.
14:01Teams begin planning this week's bedroom.
14:03We can still do a feature wall behind the bed.
14:06But not everyone is on the same page.
14:09Bungs or two singles?
14:11I hate either.
14:13I would love to do a built-in here.
14:15And that's what I was saying last night.
14:17No one f***ing listens to me.
14:18No one's listening to you.
14:19Yeah, I'm sure you are.
14:20Cut your attitude out.
14:21It just felt like Jesse wasn't really hearing me.
14:30You too can get exclusive access to this week's rooms by heading to domains in the Know Hub.
14:36It's the go-to website where every Monday contestants can find my tips plus all they
14:42need to know for another big week of renovations.
14:49It's day one of guest bedroom week.
14:51But before they get stuck into this week's room, I've got a special delivery for house one.
14:56Ooh.
15:03So I obviously received the first 10 of the season last night.
15:07Scotty did leave us a little message.
15:09He'll be arriving today with a little reward for us.
15:13Hello.
15:14Hey, Scotty.
15:15Hello.
15:16Hi.
15:17What's this?
15:18Big Bicky.
15:19There's some Tim Tams in there.
15:20Open her up.
15:21We've got Tim Tams.
15:22We've got Scotch Fingers.
15:23We've got a little gift.
15:24We've got Tim Tams.
15:25We've got Scotch Fingers.
15:26We've got...
15:27Vovos.
15:28Jesse had never had a Vovo.
15:29First time.
15:30And...
15:31And...
15:33Money!
15:34Woo!
15:35Money!
15:36Queen cash.
15:37This is fresh.
15:38$10,000.
15:39$10,000?
15:40Yes.
15:41You get $10,000.
15:42$10,000?
15:43For $10.
15:44$10,000!
15:45Pretty cool reward from Scotty.
15:46It's $10,000 into the kitty.
15:47We're looking pretty good on budget, but that really helps us.
15:50Congratulations.
15:51$10,000.
15:52Thank you, Scotty.
15:53My pleasure.
15:55$10,000?
15:56$10,000?
15:57$10,000.
16:08Oh, I've left my trailer...
16:10I've left my trailer for a second and you're taking all my bickies.
16:14Oh, I suppose I'll write trading treats on there.
16:17Off you go.
16:19We've got a public holiday this week.
16:21So, yeah, we have got to get a room mostly delivered by Thursday afternoon.
16:26Yep.
16:27Hey.
16:28Hey.
16:29Jeez, what are you doing?
16:30That's the guest room.
16:31That's our schedule.
16:32These are the items we need to buy.
16:33I didn't know there was, like, little post-it notes on there.
16:35The orders.
16:36Orders for Mitre 10 are done.
16:37CSR's done.
16:38Truecore's done.
16:39This week, we have a guest room.
16:40We want a multifunctional space, so I think your grandparents can stay.
16:43Like, a nanny could stay.
16:44It could be friends or family.
16:46Courtney and Grant's room will include a queen bed,
16:49which will be recessed into a curved feature wall.
16:52Opposite, they'll have wardrobes, a built-in study wall,
16:56and the room will be styled in their signature tones.
16:59We're going to try and add, like, nice, like, calming colours,
17:02keeping it real luxe, and then obviously tying in that
17:05Mediterranean vibe.
17:07Mediterranean.
17:08Yeah.
17:09Yeah.
17:10Yeah.
17:11Yeah.
17:12Yeah.
17:13Yeah.
17:14Mediterranean.
17:15Does it matter what I want in this room, or...?
17:17You are... You love this style.
17:18You are Mediterranean.
17:19What do you mean?
17:20You're a modern Mediterranean man.
17:21Am I your inspiration?
17:22Sometimes.
17:23Sometimes not.
17:26In house three, after firing their builders last week...
17:29Thanks to everyone.
17:30..Ricky and Hayden have enlisted the help of a former contestant
17:33and builder, Duncan.
17:35Absolutely pumped.
17:37Duncan's his own building company,
17:39has brought his team down from Sydney to join the block.
17:42They're like SAS.
17:44Yeah.
17:45They're special operatives.
17:46Yeah.
17:47And they're here to seek and deliver winning rooms.
17:50To know that we've got an ex-contestant and an all-star,
17:54the celebrity Duncan on our side, is going to be huge for our team.
17:58Obviously, every Monday's a fresh start,
18:00but to be starting with Duncan, we're pretty jacked.
18:03Look at him.
18:04Your builder's on deck.
18:06Do you know where another one of those bolts are?
18:09Another one of those bolts are?
18:10Yes, I do.
18:12Getting bolts.
18:14After failing to complete last week's main en suite,
18:17Ricky and Hayden are hoping to come back strong
18:19with this week's guest bedroom.
18:23It'll feature a wall of built-in wardrobes,
18:25a queen bed with bedside tables,
18:27and a curved feature wall,
18:29custom LED lighting and Grafico wallpaper.
18:33We decided to do a guest bed that could be universal.
18:37So anywhere from an older teenager to an adult.
18:40And on top of that, you've got last week's bathroom.
18:42Are you going to try and get that done too?
18:43Yeah.
18:44No reason why we can't finish two rooms this week.
18:46I think it's a good idea that we smash it out.
18:48I think the judges will appreciate that we haven't laid down
18:51and forgotten about it.
18:54So we're doing a bedroom this week,
18:57and we're making it a little girls' room.
19:00Yeah, we thought we would have fun this week.
19:02We wanted to show a bit more personality,
19:04and the place to do that is a kids' room.
19:06Jessie and Paige's guest bedroom
19:08will include a small walk-in wardrobe,
19:10and because of the unusual shape of their room,
19:13they're at odds as to what to do with this space here.
19:17The room will include two single beds
19:19and be styled with colourful artwork and Grafico wallpaper.
19:23But it's the alcove across from the beds
19:26where Paige wants to add extra storage.
19:33I would love to do a built-in here.
19:35I would love to do something like that, but...
19:37OK.
19:39Built-in what, sorry?
19:41Like, cupboards. Why the f*** would I put a robe there?
19:43Sorry, I didn't mean robes. Cupboards.
19:45Like, just a built-in space.
19:47That's something you've got to talk to Kingsman about
19:49if they can get that here.
19:51Exactly, and that's what I was saying last night.
19:53No one f***ing listens to me.
19:55I was listening to you. Yeah, I'm sure you were.
19:57Cut your attitude out. I can't cut my attitude out
19:59when you haven't been listening to me for three weeks.
20:01What the f*** is going on here?
20:04I think the pressures of the block,
20:06you know, can definitely put a strain
20:08on, you know, those close relationships,
20:10like for a couple.
20:12Coming on here with your partner,
20:14I don't think I could do it.
20:16I think the advantage that me and H have
20:18is that our relationship
20:20is not the same as a couple's relationship.
20:22So, yeah,
20:24I do have concerns if it's going to be
20:26a little bit too much for some others.
20:28Stop telling me to cut the attitude
20:30when you're talking like that.
20:32Let's just listen to Zach. Zach's trying to talk to us.
20:34Zach, it's all good.
20:36What?
20:38It's like, we've got to stop, man.
20:40You need to stop. I am stopping.
20:44It just felt like Jesse wasn't
20:46really hearing me.
20:48So I was like, I just got
20:50very overwhelmed in that moment.
20:58I was just
21:00really having a little
21:02breakdown with where
21:04our communication was at.
21:06So I went back to our bedroom
21:08and I was quite
21:10emotional.
21:12I'm trying to be, like, so nice
21:14and so resilient and then I have
21:16a bit of an attitude
21:18and it's just like
21:20he's just not understanding why.
21:24It's just like he just wants to talk
21:26to me at his leisure. Like, he just doesn't
21:28care when I try and, like, broach topics
21:30with him. Like, what he was trying to talk
21:32to me about up there
21:34I've been trying to talk to him about
21:36for days. He just acts like
21:38in front of people and in front of the camera.
21:40It's like I'm the problem.
21:46It's just so frustrating.
21:50Um, Jesse is my
21:52only person here and
21:54I just felt like
21:57he wasn't or hasn't
21:59been.
22:11Hello!
22:17How do you feel?
22:19Feel good.
22:21Yeah, I'm good.
22:23You cold? Frozen.
22:25Not the way you want to start your
22:27Monday. A little rocky morning.
22:29On my behalf.
22:31I've just got to, um,
22:33just be better
22:35with how I work with this one
22:37at times.
22:39Just communicate like a normal person and we'll be fine.
22:41Yeah.
22:49The Block is ultimately a real estate
22:51game and it all comes down to
22:53auction day. Good morning everyone.
22:55Good morning. So I brought the teams together
22:57to meet a couple of top flight
22:59experts to help them stay focused.
23:01Resident property expert from Domain
23:03Alice Stoltz, welcome.
23:05Hello!
23:07Alice is an important part of the Block family.
23:09Each season she's on hand
23:11to guide our contestants through all
23:13things real estate.
23:15And our Block judge, Marty Fox.
23:19Savvy real estate agent
23:21and CEO of White Fox Real Estate,
23:23Judge Marty Fox,
23:25has developed a reputation for not holding
23:27back.
23:29This is probably one of the best things in here.
23:31It's the black toilet paper.
23:33Rude. It's a good room.
23:35It's not a great room. This is a massive drop
23:37of the ball for such an important
23:39room for the sale
23:41of the house. Alice,
23:43what can you tell us about this area?
23:45Well guys, the good news is
23:47that there are three times more people
23:50looking for holiday homes than
23:52last year. And most of them
23:54have kids. So what this means is they need
23:56space. Marty, what's your take on this?
23:58Well, first of all, it's great to finally meet
24:00you all face to face. Who has
24:02actually locked in a real estate agent
24:04and their auctioneer?
24:06Two. I would be doing this
24:08from week one. The real estate agent
24:10and the auctioneer can make or break an auction, can't they?
24:12Absolutely. Okay, head back to your houses.
24:14These guys will come and visit you
24:16and you can ask them everything you want to know.
24:18Legend.
24:20See ya.
24:22Bye.
24:24Can we just opt out?
24:29I don't want to talk to them.
24:35So Marty and Alice came by.
24:37It's such a pleasure to meet them in person.
24:39Hello. How are we?
24:41Marty, nice to meet you.
24:43I'm Jessie, I'm Alice. Nice to meet you, Alice.
24:45So how's it all been? It's been a whirlwind.
24:47It's been a whirlwind, but we're loving it.
24:49We're just like, we're having the best time.
24:51And getting along well? Yes.
24:53Maybe not a bit this morning, but generally
24:55we do. What have the judges
24:57said thus far on what you've been delivering?
24:59So the judges, I mean,
25:01I feel like we have been getting
25:03really positive feedback.
25:07And there's been really good constructive
25:09elements and elements that will keep us on
25:11a good track. For me, it's a massive
25:13win for these guys. I'm so happy for them.
25:15This is sexy, and this is classy.
25:17This is more sophisticated,
25:19fresh, it's elegant.
25:21Oh, I'm so proud of them.
25:23Your style is very marketable.
25:25Your agents will really love this
25:27style of aesthetic. And on that topic
25:29of agents, how come you've
25:31left it so long?
25:33So, it's not like we haven't been having
25:35conversations or getting names and
25:37putting things in the bank. We have never
25:39had to hire a real estate
25:41agent or an auctioneer before.
25:43The block's so crazy and you get so caught up
25:45in that week and what you're doing that
25:47you need a reminder like that. It's like, okay,
25:49you need to start thinking of the future.
25:51Five million.
25:53Five million!
25:55Five million!
25:57Auction's pretty important, right?
25:59It's a pretty important part
26:01of the process. Maybe the most
26:03important part.
26:05I'll be on that straight away. Yeah.
26:07I just believe you need your amazing advisory board
26:09and that is listening to judges
26:11doing your own research and
26:13speaking to that agent. They know who that
26:15buyer's going to be. You need to make sure
26:17that you're thinking about auction day
26:19today.
26:21Well done guys. It was a really good
26:23moment where we were just kicked into gear
26:25and we remembered that finding a real estate agent
26:27is priority.
26:29Understanding your
26:31buyer is an important part of the real estate
26:33game. Kylie and
26:35Brad have a clear vision in mind for
26:37their house. There you go, no painting this week.
26:39The market that we're
26:41sort of trying to hit
26:43is either a slightly older family that has
26:45older children or more
26:47families that can all come into one home.
26:49Kylie and Brad are the only
26:51team who aren't turning at least
26:53one of their guest bedrooms into a
26:55kids room. This week, I
26:57feel like we're just going to do
26:59like an older teen slash
27:01another guest room.
27:03Their plan is to include
27:05a double bed with bed head and
27:07hanging pendant lights, a port-a-timber
27:09feature along the wall and built
27:11in wardrobes in their signature
27:13colour black. We get a visit
27:15from Alice and Marty. I've heard
27:17a little bit about it.
27:19I don't want to do any talking. We're already going
27:21against the grain. I'm just going to get hammered by
27:23them. Judge Marty has
27:25certainly had some strong opinions about
27:27Kylie and Brad's style so far.
27:29The only thing that I like about this room
27:31is the skylight because when I'm looking
27:33up, I don't have to see anything
27:35else. If they continue
27:37this theme throughout the other rooms,
27:39this is going to be
27:41possibly the biggest disaster
27:43we've seen in 20 seasons.
27:51Hello. Hello.
27:53Marty, Brad. Nice to meet you.
27:55Hi. Nice to meet you as well.
27:57I'm already on a back foot knowing that I'm
27:59talking to someone that's given me some pretty critical
28:01feedback about my style and
28:03I slightly
28:05feel attacked before
28:07it even starts.
28:09How's it all been?
28:11Yeah, it's been a bit rough
28:13really. We did
28:15a lot of things right this week but I guess
28:17we just need a bit of an explanation on what we're missing.
28:19Well look, I was really positive
28:21this week. In week one,
28:23the bathroom was, in my opinion,
28:25very polarising and I felt
28:27that this week it had turned a corner.
28:29I think it was a
28:31great turn in the right direction
28:33and I'm always looking through the lens
28:35of auction day.
28:37Who do you imagine
28:39might buy your house?
28:41We're not aiming it at a family with kids.
28:43You're not? Okay. We're not doing
28:45it for younger children.
28:47I guess I'd just bear in mind
28:49that these buyers, 25 to 54,
28:51over half of them have kids.
28:53Yeah, I guess we were also, if we're going to aim
28:55anywhere towards kids, it'd be slightly
28:57older kids. I'm not suggesting you have to have a nursery
28:59but I do just think you need to think of
29:01a family of some description.
29:03With this week's room, you're doing another bedroom,
29:05correct? Yeah. Consider that one
29:07having bunks or having
29:09the ability to sleep with two
29:11king singles. I wasn't aiming
29:13it at families. Like, yeah,
29:15but no, like not a kids' kids' room.
29:17It just goes away from
29:21what I wanted to do.
29:23If you don't do bunks, you could
29:25really segment your market and tighten
29:27it right down because a lot of the people that buy this,
29:29they will put it on Airbnb.
29:31Think of yourself when you're searching. Most people
29:33are thinking, minimum, how many
29:35does this sleep? Like, you've got four kids,
29:37is that right? Like, think about your own kids and what
29:39would make them happy and how they live, though. Like,
29:41use that intel that you've got.
29:43But make sure that this room, this week,
29:45can sleep multiple people.
29:47I think that would be a miss.
29:49I've been going to a really fun
29:51bunk room there, guys.
29:53Was it nice to meet Alice? Like, was it helpful at all?
29:55Yeah, it's always
29:57nice to meet new people.
29:59But...
30:01Thanks, guys.
30:03Bye-bye.
30:05We didn't plan on doing a kids' kids'
30:07bedroom, so it just
30:09throws it all back up in the air.
30:11They said it has to be multiple beds.
30:13Bunks or two singles?
30:15F*** no two singles. What is wrong
30:17with you? I hate either.
30:21Still to come,
30:23House 2 celebrate their
30:25winning style.
30:27$10,000 from
30:29Forbes. Looks like you're paying for dinner.
30:31And VIP
30:33guests Elisa and Lassandra share
30:35their winning tips. That is
30:37number one. If it's a functional space,
30:39people will buy it. If they can't envisage
30:41themselves in that space, they're
30:43not going to buy it.
30:53MUSIC
31:17We're doing a kids' room! I'm so excited,
31:19so, so, so excited because I'm a big kid
31:21and I can't wait... Put a pencil mark?
31:23...to style it and put fun
31:25things in it that I like
31:27that also children like.
31:29A kids' room should feel
31:31fun, fun,
31:33playful, cozy,
31:35alive.
31:37House 5's
31:39kids' bedroom will include a wall
31:41of built-in wardrobes, two single
31:43beds with trundles, and they're
31:45adding some fun with a cloud-shaped
31:47bed head and rainbow wallpaper.
31:49While the
31:51bedroom is located downstairs between
31:53two other bedrooms, they're currently
31:55doing their planning upstairs,
31:57mapping out the layout of the room on the
31:59floor with painter's tape.
32:01Do I fit in it? Yeah.
32:03So we're upstairs. We are
32:05planning to scale
32:07our bedroom that we're doing this
32:09week just with a bit of masking tape on the floor.
32:11Because upstairs there's lots of space, so we're just like, let's tape
32:13it out and we see to size
32:15where everything's going to go and how it's going to fit.
32:17You put a little rug here and some
32:19toys. And then
32:21Marty and Alice came up. Oh, hello.
32:23Hello, Mimmy. Hi. It's good to see you
32:25planning. So these guys have won the
32:27first two weeks. I'm so impressed
32:29by this. I know. And I'm so impressed by
32:31this. Ah, how beautiful is it? How amazing.
32:33What a difference. You're in the palm
32:35trees. I know. You're so lucky.
32:37You are an elite.
32:39Yeah. While the other
32:41houses will all have a mezzanine level
32:43above the garage,
32:45these five are the only double story
32:47house on the block this year. And
32:49they've got the views to prove it.
32:51This is real estate gold.
32:53And I think being
32:55the point of difference amongst the other houses,
32:57as long as you do a great job,
32:59it's going to be great.
33:01Now, have you locked in an agent,
33:03an auctioneer? No, we
33:05don't have anything. No agent,
33:07no auctioneer.
33:09And it's stressing me out. And you're a planner.
33:11I know. What are you doing?
33:13All the other rooms, except for the most
33:15important thing. I think I've been
33:17in denial, like, about the whole
33:19agent and auctioneer
33:21situation. I
33:23don't like making adult decisions
33:25ever. If we can offer some
33:27advice. Yes, please. Yes.
33:29Real estate is a marketing game.
33:31Look at how they shoot properties. Look at their social
33:33media. Look at the way in which they
33:35present themselves, because they are an
33:37extension of you in a campaign.
33:39Yeah. You need to make sure that it's somebody that you get along
33:41with, that understands the property,
33:43that understands the market,
33:45and that can build the marketing campaign
33:47that does this home justice.
33:49So I would be hopping on that phone, Mimi,
33:51and I mean today. I cannot
33:53stress this enough, guys. You've got to get this done
33:55this week.
33:57I feel overwhelmed. I feel
33:59like I could pass out right now.
34:03I'm scared.
34:05I'm scared.
34:11After speaking to Marty and Alice,
34:13they've suggested to scrap
34:15our bedroom, my dear, and go with
34:17multiple sleeping beds.
34:19So bunk beds, multiple singles,
34:21targeting younger children, I guess.
34:23And heavy suggested at younger
34:25children, which is not at all where
34:27I was going to take this house.
34:29Bunks or two singles?
34:31F*** no two singles. What is wrong with you?
34:33I hate either.
34:37So yeah, after
34:39that, I had a bit of
34:41a go at Kylie.
34:43I felt the same sort of way as I'm sure
34:45she does, is you get conflicted
34:47and then you're stressed out and you're like, what are we doing?
34:49How are you feeling? Do you feel
34:51flat? I don't know. Just in a bit
34:53of a mood at the moment.
34:55Oh, I'm not happy.
34:57With me? Yeah.
34:59Oh.
35:01I was like,
35:03ooh, see you later.
35:05Me, out of all things, how dare
35:07he?
35:09I can give it to Brad and he
35:11handles it, but the minute he gives it back
35:13I'm like, nah, I'm out.
35:15I don't handle that well.
35:17So yeah, went off to bed. Straight to bed.
35:25F*** off.
35:27Why?
35:29Why are you mad at me just because I said you had the s***?
35:33What are we going to do in this room?
35:39I was a bit stressed out
35:41about how long
35:43I could afford to have her
35:45Not talking. In a mood.
35:47How long I'd be in a mood for.
35:49The real estate dude just said
35:51we need to do, like, multiple beds.
35:53She doesn't want to borrow it.
35:55She's asleep in the room.
35:57She won't talk to anyone. She'll pretend to be asleep.
35:59So...
36:03I went and stressed out in the car for a bit.
36:09You alright?
36:11Yeah.
36:13It's just frustrating.
36:15She was set
36:17on what she wanted to do and...
36:19now I don't know what we're doing.
36:21She wants to be left alone.
36:23She wants to be left alone.
36:29So you're just closing the door on today?
36:31Yeah, just closing the door. Just see you later.
36:33See the world tomorrow.
36:35Through different eyes.
36:45We all know the block is about
36:47the auction. So today
36:49Alice Stoltz from Domain, real estate agent
36:51and Judge Marty Fox
36:53have been meeting with our teams
36:55to give them advice and they've just
36:57arrived in house three.
36:59Welcome. Nice to meet you Marty.
37:01Hi, Ricky Alice.
37:03To meet Marty and Alice face to face
37:05was good. Obviously, both are real estate gurus
37:07so we're excited to have a chat with them.
37:09What sort of buy are you aiming for?
37:11Who do you reckon is going to buy a place like this?
37:13It's definitely going to be someone who's
37:15looking for a second or third home.
37:17We're looking at creating that
37:19modern day sort of oasis.
37:21Getting away from maybe their city home
37:23and coming to the nice quiet island
37:25and still living in luxe.
37:27The other thing we've been considering is how do we bring our emotion into it?
37:29I reckon part of emotion is also
37:31tapping into the nostalgia of beach houses.
37:33You've hit that on the head.
37:35If you can tap into the nostalgia of the buyer
37:37then you'll win.
37:39Go back to your own childhood and think what was it that you did?
37:41Was it totem tennis or
37:43ping pong tables or push blocks
37:45hanging around the house? Things that make people think
37:47how will I live differently down here
37:49than what I do in the rat race in Melbourne?
37:51Now tell me about you've appointed
37:53a real estate agency. Yep, we have.
37:55Who have you got? We've got Ray White.
38:01Fantastic.
38:03So auctioneer may be a Tom Panos.
38:05Possibly. Potentially.
38:07He's on a bit of a winning streak at the moment.
38:09So whether he wants to represent us
38:11or not could be the next question.
38:13I'm going to ask for an opening bid or offer.
38:15Sydney based auctioneer Tom Panos
38:17is no stranger to the block.
38:19Having won the last two auctions.
38:21Omar and Oz in
38:23Gisborne and
38:25Stefan Gian in Hampton East.
38:27Both of those teams were also represented
38:29by Ray White Real Estate.
38:31Both walked away with well over
38:33a million dollars each.
38:35Obviously we've seen
38:37Tom Panos do his thing before and he's
38:39the best of the best.
38:41And
38:43both of us being real big team
38:45men we know that it's about having
38:47the right people on your team.
38:49So yeah, we're hoping to have him there
38:51come game day as well. Are you going to tell your
38:53fellow neighbours about that?
38:55We're like, you know, it's like a
38:57need to know basis. We don't like shouting
38:59things from the top of the, you know, top of the
39:01treetops.
39:03Keep up the work. Great to meet you.
39:05Congratulations. Looking forward to getting some bigger numbers
39:07next week mate. Oh mate, deliver better
39:09roast.
39:11We know we've got to step our game up if we're going to win a room
39:13so we've got a couple of big rooms
39:15coming up and if we can win
39:17a couple of those major ones
39:19yeah, it's game on.
39:29Marty's a good looking man.
39:31Stylish isn't he? So stylish.
39:33The brown suit. You should
39:35get a suit like that.
39:37You're setting yourself up
39:39for success. Yep. Have you
39:41actually done the planning for your agent
39:43and auctioneer? Yes. We have.
39:45So we've locked in our agent.
39:47And who is that? That's Ray White.
39:51So that would be
39:53two people using Ray White. Yes.
39:55We know. Okay.
39:57How is this going to work? So we have a different
39:59Ray White agent. They're going to have a different auctioneer as well.
40:01And who, what auctioneer have you got?
40:03An opening bidder offer to get us up and going
40:05here today. We're 99%
40:07sure according to his words
40:09it's Tom Paddle. Tom Paddle? Oh wow.
40:11We met with Tom. Sydney couple.
40:13Yeah. We thought we have to.
40:15We met with Tom before we left Sydney.
40:17You go with the person that's got the results
40:19and we don't know if he'll be our auctioneer
40:21just yet but I think if we get him
40:23I think yeah, they'd be pretty jealous.
40:25Well I guess we'll have to watch this
40:27space.
40:29Speaking of tug of wars, the breakdown
40:31of communication between Jesse
40:33and Paige seems to be continuing
40:35as they heed Alice and Marty's
40:37advice and head off to get a real
40:39estate agent.
40:41Like I just feel like
40:43I'm just at your disposal. Like you
40:45only listen to me when you want to.
40:47It's definitely
40:49not the case. When you try and like throw it back in my face
40:51in front of people
40:53and in front of a camera
40:55when I have an attitude because no one's
40:57there to pick up on why I have an attitude.
40:59I don't think
41:01having arguments is bad sometimes.
41:05But on the block our fights have been a little bit
41:07more intense because
41:09we are very emotionally
41:11heightened. We're very sleep deprived.
41:13We're under a lot of pressure
41:15internally and externally.
41:17I've been really patient
41:19for three weeks but if you want to
41:21disrespect me again in front of people
41:23and in front of the camera, I'm going to
41:25walk off.
41:27Do you understand me? I've been really patient.
41:29It shows what renovation
41:31does to your relationship and
41:33it's a really um
41:35it's intense.
41:37Don't make me look like a crazy person.
41:41Just to make yourself look better.
41:43Okay.
41:45Because it's very transparent what you're doing.
41:49As the pair
41:51arrive in town, they make a beeline
41:53for their first choice of agent.
41:55So
41:57our objective for today, we just
41:59wanted to go in, see who was there.
42:03Oh dear.
42:07After you.
42:17As day one of
42:19Guest Bedroom Week comes to a close,
42:21last night's winners, Courtney and Grant,
42:23are getting ready to leave site.
42:25See you peasants. On their forward getaway.
42:31The winners of each week are treated to a night away
42:33with me. And today we're heading to
42:35Victoria's stunning Mornington Peninsula.
42:37Should we stop past McDonald's?
42:39Yeah, no, we definitely stop past McDonald's.
42:41Just in case it's all fancy food tonight.
42:43Woah.
42:45No, don't go too fast though, please.
42:47Why? Because it's 60 along here.
42:49I don't want to drive it like it's stolen.
42:51We'll see tonight.
42:53Thank the break of dawn.
43:01Come tomorrow.
43:03Tomorrow I'll be gone.
43:05I've loaned out the Ford Mustang Mark E
43:07for the trip and asked the pair to meet me
43:09at the Continental Hotel in Sorrento.
43:15Nice hotel.
43:17It's so nice.
43:19Perfect. We got to reception
43:21and like there was two
43:23girls kind of fiddling around in the cupboard,
43:25like backs turned away. Service time was terrible.
43:27We were waiting there for ages.
43:29Hello, we're here.
43:31Oh, hello.
43:33And then Alyssa
43:35and Lysandra turned around and I was like,
43:37wow, I was in shock.
43:39Welcome.
43:41And I don't think Grant knew they were.
43:43I'm going to pull my hand up and immediately say
43:45I didn't know who they were.
43:47Let me help you out, Grant.
43:49Former block contestants,
43:51the fiery twins Alyssa and Lysandra
43:53were known for being outspoken.
43:55Kyle and Cara
43:57produced probably the worst room
43:59of the block and they get a six and a half
44:01and it's not fair.
44:03Going.
44:05They won the block back in 2013
44:07and came back the following year to compete
44:09as All Stars.
44:11Altogether, they've taken home a combined total
44:13of over $1 million
44:15in competition and tonight
44:17they're our VIP guests.
44:19Oh.
44:21That's the man we're looking for.
44:23Don't tell me you two have bought a hotel.
44:25Well,
44:27how excited are you guys
44:29for the winners and grinners dinner?
44:31We feel like we won the right way.
44:33This joint is flash as a rat
44:35with a gold tooth, this place.
44:37I'm telling you right now.
44:39And you're in the penthouse.
44:41It was
44:43It was amazing. It was such a beautiful hotel.
44:45It was very corny.
44:47Oh my gosh.
44:49Wow, this is beautiful.
44:51Look at the view.
44:53That is so pretty.
44:55What would you rather, this or camping?
44:57Last week's winners are living it up
44:59back in the block.
45:01Losing team, Ricky and Hayden are busy working.
45:03Hey guys.
45:05So I've come over to see your chump jackets.
45:07What's that?
45:09Mark and I were the proud winner
45:11of the chump jacket a few times.
45:13You guys look spectacular.
45:15I feel like I should have a trumpet or something.
45:17What's a chump?
45:19Chump is the team
45:21that finishes last
45:23in any given week.
45:25Whoever sucks the most.
45:27Now that chump team wasn't rolled out for the first two weeks.
45:29What a surprise that it came out
45:31once we came last.
45:33So what was the go with these jackets?
45:35They were nice, smart looking jackets.
45:37They were yellow and they had tails.
45:39You know what, I reckon if we did throw on
45:41a bit of a barbecue cook up,
45:43it might be reasonable proof
45:45to show everyone that we aren't the chumps
45:47that we acted like this week maybe.
45:53Ricky
45:55kindly put his hand up to
45:57go down to Aldi and collect some
45:59food for the barbie.
46:01Steak, chicken, snags.
46:03Done.
46:05Now I just need some bread.
46:07This is a way to climb yourself out of
46:09chumpville.
46:11Then you cook a champ barbecue.
46:13Mate, we've got two full chooks on.
46:15Nice.
46:17And I've got some steaks.
46:19We like to over-cater.
46:21That's what the chumps do.
46:23Suck at bathrooms, but we cook a good barbie.
46:25What would the definition of a chump be?
46:27A chump is like
46:29you know, isn't chump what you throw
46:31into the ocean for sharks or something?
46:33Like chump?
46:35Like when you all go to a fair
46:37and there's the clown who doesn't want
46:39to be a clown, but is forced to be.
46:41What fair are you going to?
46:43Like the old medieval days.
46:45I thought chump was rump.
46:47They might not know what it means,
46:49but all our teams are keen for a feed.
46:51Guys, are we hungry?
46:53We are starving.
46:55Well, all except one.
46:57I did not
46:59make the chump's barbecue, no.
47:01Nor did I.
47:03And in honour
47:05of the first official chump's barbecue
47:07of season 20, Duncan has
47:09cracked down an old souvenir for the boys.
47:11I took great pride in standing
47:13side-by-side Duncan, wearing the jackets.
47:15There he goes.
47:19They must have had smaller contestants back then.
47:21I think they did.
47:23I must say, I love
47:25Ricky and Hayden's barbecue.
47:27They can be a chump any time they want.
47:33Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome
47:35Scott Pickett.
47:37Wow.
47:39Your celebrity chef. And have a look at
47:41the food that's already coming out. There's so much more to come.
47:43And you've got to go and get cooking, have you?
47:45I've got to get the next course ready.
47:47Right, have you got some snacks? And then I've got a
47:49surprise for you.
47:51The steak was...
47:53Oh God, the steak.
47:55Honestly. I ate it and
47:57it was one of the best meals I've had.
47:59It was delicious.
48:01It is absolutely outstanding.
48:03I can't wait to go back there.
48:15Alright Scotty, we've got
48:17your next course here. Yes, thank you.
48:19Bon appétit.
48:23$10,000 from Ford.
48:25It looks like you're paying for dinner.
48:27As well as taking home the
48:29grand cash, Courtney and Grant also
48:31get the advantage of scoring
48:33some invaluable advice from Elisa
48:35and Lysandra. I think first and
48:37foremost, the one thing Elisa and I always
48:39did really well was getting
48:41the layout right. That is number one.
48:43If it's a functional space, people
48:45will buy it. If they can't envisage themselves
48:47in that space, they're not going to buy it.
48:49Probably the next
48:51piece of advice,
48:53every single time you deliver a room,
48:55think outside the square.
48:57Think about how can you
48:59push it to the next level.
49:01Yeah, so there's like extra
49:03things that would be like, okay.
49:05Wow factor.
49:07That was really good advice.
49:09Meeting with the girls was probably like the biggest
49:11blessing. Congratulations. Cheers.
49:13Cheers guys. Thanks for having us.
49:15Good luck for the rest of the competition.
49:17Winners are grinners.
49:19Your beauty. Another free meal for me too.
49:23Tomorrow night.
49:25I could change the colour.
49:27Guest bedroom week continues.
49:29You're going to show me a curve?
49:31So we're doing a bulkhead curve
49:33that comes out off the wall. We think we'll do
49:35enough to get a win this week, hopefully.
49:37Sleeping beauty awakes.
49:39What are we doing with the room?
49:41You're not very enthused about it, that's for sure.
49:43I'm not enthused. I was never planning kids.
49:47Also, Jessie and Paige face shopping
49:49struggles. I don't think
49:51we're going to have a completed room.
49:53After the Amy bedside table, I can't go home
49:55without it. No, we'll be fine.
49:57So the three main things that you build
49:59a room around we can't get.
50:01When there's two of us, if I need to shoot out
50:03That's okay. You can shoot
50:05out, but what are you going to buy?
50:07And Grant puts his builders
50:09in the firing line. You know what?
50:11Don't come back on Thursday. I don't need you.
50:13I'm not having you on site.
50:15You're a snake.
50:17We don't have a backup plan.
50:19We don't have a builder. I'll figure that part
50:21out. I just feel really bad.
50:23I didn't want it to come to that point.
50:25Maybe you don't.
