00:00Health Minister Zulkifli Ahmad has called for further investigation into the death of
00:06a specialist at a hospital in Sabah which a family member claimed had many unanswered
00:10questions.
00:12In a post on X, he said he has had zero tolerance towards bullying since 2018 and shall remain
00:18steadfast on this policy, adding that all health ministry staff deserve a safe and just
00:22working environment.
00:25Zulkifli was responding to news reports on the death of Dr. Tai Tianya on August 29,
00:29just six months after she reported for duty as head of the chemical pathology unit at
00:34the hospital.
00:36Earlier today, Senator Dr. R. A. Lingeswaran urged the health ministry to investigate after
00:40reading a Facebook post by the specialist's sister.
00:44He said the post talked about alleged bullying that may have been one of the causes, adding
00:48that the health minister and the director general must address the matter as the claims
00:52had gone viral on social media.
00:54Meanwhile, Lahadatu District Police Chief Zubahirin Ismail said yesterday the incident
01:00has been classified as sudden death.
01:03He added that no foul play was suspected, The Star reported.
