00:00Hey family, Pastor Darius here, man, I'm so excited you found your way to this channel.
00:06Just want to give you a little context regarding this message.
00:09This message you're about to hear is a message from a series we did from the book of Proverbs
00:14at our church change church.
00:17And this particular message is called Lord, make me an answer.
00:21And I'm gonna talk to you a little bit about purpose in this message, because a person's
00:25purpose is to be an answer to some issues in the earth.
00:30And this message is going to give you wisdom on how to be an answer.
00:35If it blesses you, you know what I want you to do, to share with someone else, enjoy the
00:41message.
00:42Let's begin reading at verse number five.
00:48I'm trying to see if I'm gonna get through all of this today.
00:52Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, in all your
00:57ways submit to him.
00:59He will make your path straight.
01:01Don't be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord, shun evil.
01:05This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones, your bones, honor the Lord
01:09with your wealth, the first fruits of all your crops, then your barns will be filled
01:14to overflowing and your vats brim over with new wine.
01:20I want to stop the reading of scripture there and talk from this subject in our time together.
01:25Lord, make me an answer.
01:30Clap your hands, 130, if you're ready for God's word.
01:36Ladies and gentlemen, I want to start this sermon by informing some of you and reminding
01:40others that already are aware of this, that your existence is not by chance, it's by God's
01:46choice.
01:48I need to reemphasize that, that your existence is not by chance, it's by God's choice.
01:54That you are not the consequence of some cosmic coincidence, nor are you the result of some
01:59relational accident.
02:02Your parents may not have planned your arrival, but God did.
02:09The circumstances surrounding your birth may have been circumstances that others would
02:15deem unfortunate, but the God who makes no mistakes, intentionally and strategically
02:24orchestrated your existence on earth in this era for such a time as this.
02:32As one spiritual leader frequently states, great men and women are only born for the
02:38time they need it the most.
02:42I don't know if you received this, but I'm going to speak this into and over you, it's
02:48your time.
02:52Did you hear what I just said?
02:54It means that we should not be shook or stressed based off of what is taking place in our world
03:02in the era that we live in.
03:04You were born for this time, and if you were born for this time, you've been built for
03:11whatever is happening.
03:13Do you not know God built you by design?
03:17That the way you exist, God built with design in mind?
03:22Come on, do you not, did you hear what I just said?
03:25Do you not know that your strengths are not random?
03:28That your personality is not a mishap?
03:32And I can say this with confidence because I eavesdropped on a conversation God had with
03:35Jeremiah when he told Jeremiah in Jeremiah chapter number one, before I formed you in
03:44your mother's womb, I knew you.
03:48Watch what he says.
03:49I formed you.
03:51The only thing your parents could do was conceive you, but I formed you.
03:57Your strengths, I gave you that.
03:59Your tendencies, I gave you that.
04:01Your abilities, I gave you that.
04:03Your personality, I gave you that.
04:05Your particularity, I gave you that.
04:08This is why stop apologizing to people regarding how you've been made.
04:13They don't know what you've been made for.
04:21You're allowing people to have conversations about your calling when they weren't around
04:27when God called you.
04:31You've got purpose, purpose, the reason for the existence of a thing, and that reason
04:39for the existence of a thing is unique and universal at the same time because universally,
04:47no matter how it expresses itself uniquely, purpose is an answer to a problem.
04:55Purpose is an answer to a problem.
04:59Purpose is an answer to a problem.
05:03Purpose is an answer to a problem.
05:07Purpose is an answer to a problem.
05:11God saw a problem and arranged your existence because purpose is an answer to a problem.
05:25The car solves a transportation problem.
05:29Light solves a darkness problem.
05:31The microphone solves a volume problem because purpose solves a problem.
05:38When a person becomes aware of their purpose, they become aware of the problem they've been
05:46created to solve.
05:48When a person becomes aware of their assignment, they become aware that they're an answer.
05:55I don't know if the person you're sitting next to knows who they're sitting next to.
06:01Good God Almighty.
06:04They may not know your name.
06:06They may not know your background.
06:08They may not know where you come from, but what they do need to know is they're sitting
06:12next to an answer.
06:15I need the 130 to help me like we're at a Pentecostal church.
06:20I said they need to know they are sitting next to an answer.
06:25That when you walked in, an answer walked in.
06:28And people in your life need to assess and to recognize that they are in relationship
06:35with an answer.
06:38This not forever service, but maybe it's for the 130 service.
06:41I just need to talk to the single sisters for a minute.
06:45Anybody who puts a ring on your finger needs to know you putting a ring on the finger of
06:52an answer.
06:54When I come into your, let me go to this side.
06:56When I come into your life, things are about to get better.
07:00Things are about to be upgraded.
07:02You about to experience a quantum leap.
07:06Give me an answer.
07:16God uses people to be answers to issues in other people's lives.
07:26God uses people to be answers to issues in other people's lives.
07:34God uses people to be answers to issues in other people's lives.
07:40When people don't allow God to use them to be answers to issues in other people's lives,
07:48then Satan uses people to be problems in other people's lives.
07:58Did you hear what I just said?
08:04God uses people to be answers to issues in other people's lives.
08:12It's what we call in academic and theological circles, incarnational ministry.
08:19God became a person.
08:26God himself saw that people had a sin problem that they could not fix on their own.
08:38God becomes a person born of a version carried by Mary.
08:53Walked this earth 33 years, walked the Via Dolorosa, crucified on Calvary, hung from
09:04the sixth to the ninth hour, then he died, buried in Joseph of Arimathea's tomb all night
09:12Friday night, stayed right there, all day Saturday, stayed right there, all night Saturday
09:20night, stayed right there.
09:27But early Sunday morning, got out of the grave, because God fixed our problem with a person.
09:48Because God uses people to be answers to the issues in other people's lives.
10:10And if we are serious about this assignment, we'll be passionate about pursuing principles
10:19and putting principles into practice found in the book of Proverbs.
10:23Proverbs is wisdom literature intended to impart wisdom to the godly.
10:29So in Proverbs, we find answers that we need to apply to our lives so that we can be an
10:39answer for other people in their lives.
10:42Here's what I love about Proverbs.
10:44It doesn't just tell us that we need wisdom.
10:48It shows us where we need wisdom.
10:51Somebody asked the pastor, where?
10:55Everywhere.
10:57This is why when you read Proverbs, it reads random, but it's actually comprehensive.
11:04It'll be talking about relationships, being resources, come on, right?
11:09Because the writer is showing us that wisdom is relative, meaning I can have it in one
11:15area and not have it in another, that all of us are rich and poor in wisdom somewhere.
11:26The course and the quality of our life is not just determined by where we're rich in
11:32wisdom at.
11:34The course and the quality of our life is determined by us recognizing and addressing
11:41where we're poor.
11:46Now listen to me.
11:48When I say poor in wisdom, I don't mean we don't have any wisdom.
11:55I mean we don't have enough.
11:59Did you hear what I just said?
12:01How much do I need?
12:02You need enough, right?
12:09Here's what's interesting about enough.
12:11Enough is seasonal.
12:16Enough in one season doesn't mean enough in another.
12:24In a business field, don't you mess with me, with swift transitions, things can shift
12:33swiftly and sometimes life can thrust you in a season where you're managing something
12:39you never thought you'd be managing.
12:43Am I talking to anybody that knows that season shift?
12:48Is there anybody in the room that is honest enough to admit you can find yourself dealing
12:53with a circumstance, you can find yourself dealing with a situation that you never thought
12:59you would have to handle?
13:03I need a different kind of wisdom for this.
13:10And here in Proverbs 3, Solomon introduces us to some areas we should consider increasing
13:19wisdom.
13:20I love the context of this conversation.
13:22We started at verse 5, but in verse 1, you see some context.
13:27In verse 1, listen to what Solomon says, my son, don't forget my teaching, but keep my
13:35commandments in your heart.
13:38Okay, he says my son, so it sets a framework for this letter we're reading.
13:47It's not written or this collection isn't written or this section of the collection
13:52isn't written to us, it's written for us.
13:58Are y'all ready for this?
14:00None of the biblical writers probably knew you'd be reading what they wrote because God
14:06will use you in ways that your eyes hadn't seen and your ears hadn't heard.
14:13When Paul was writing to Corinthians, he thought he was writing to them, but you don't know
14:16where what you write is going to lead.
14:20Y'all didn't hear what I just said.
14:22You don't know how God's going to use you.
14:25You don't know how God's going to expand and increase.
14:30He says, my son, so we're actually eavesdropping on something a wise father is telling a son.
14:42This is a love letter.
14:47Are y'all here at 130?
14:50I said this is a love letter.
14:51This isn't random revelation given to random people.
14:54It's the words of a father to a son, a teacher to a student, a mentor to a mentee.
14:59Solomon didn't think he was writing to us, but he was writing for us, and we get to eavesdrop
15:03on wisdom he is dropping on someone he loves.
15:07This is a letter of love.
15:09It is the way we should see all the scripture.
15:12So Solomon is telling somebody he loves this in verse 5, trust in the Lord.
15:24He's telling somebody he loves, he says, I want you to live wisely.
15:27So here's what I need you to understand to live wisely, trust in the Lord, that trusting
15:31in the Lord isn't just righteous, it's wise.
15:35Don't just trust in the Lord to be spiritual, trusting in the Lord is smart.
15:41It's smart to trust.
15:44What does that mean?
15:45To place confidence in the reliability of a thing.
15:49That's what it means.
15:50That's the word Solomon uses to describe trust.
15:53It is to place confidence in the reliability of a thing.
15:58What does that look like practically?
16:00It looks like what you're doing now in this room.
16:03You're sitting down.
16:06You sit down because you trust what you're sitting on is reliable enough to hold you
16:14up.
16:17You know if it doesn't hold you up, you can fall.
16:20You know if you fall, you can injure yourself.
16:22You know if you injure yourself, it can impede you and inhibit you from doing some things
16:26you want to do outside of this building, but you trust in its ability to hold you up and
16:32it won't let you fall.
16:33You got a lot of things to worry about, but this seat, not one of them.
16:39Because you know this seat is something you can sit down on and when Solomon says trust,
16:44he is telling us that God is somebody you can sit down on and so when God says that
16:50no weapon formed against you shall prosper, you can sit in it.
16:55When God says he'll supply all of your needs, you can sit in it.
17:00When God says you're more than a conqueror, you can sit in it.
17:05When God says he'll do exceedingly and abundantly above all you ask or think, you can sit in
17:12it.
17:13I got two words and I'm not your parent, but I'm going to be spiritually parental today
17:17to everybody that's worried and stressed and overwhelmed.
17:21I got two words, sit down.
17:29Sleeping may endure for a night.
17:44Trust, now watch this, watch what Solomon is teaching his mentee.
17:51He says trust, is that the Bible?
17:55So he not just tells him to trust, but he tells him where to trust because every seat
18:01not safe to sit on.
18:07Come on here and some of us are dealing with brokenness, not broken bones, but brokenness
18:18because we sat in seats that weren't reliable.
18:23We put our trust in places and in people that were not strong enough to hold us and
18:33the consequence of misplaced trust is seat suspicion.
18:41So now we live our life suspicious of every seat because I've sat in some seats in the
18:50past that were not safe.
18:58So now I'm seat suspicious because wise people know where to sit.
19:17So he says, trust in the Lord.
19:30Who?
19:31The Lord.
19:32The Lord.
19:36Trust there.
19:37So what it says, with all your heart, wait a minute.
19:44He didn't say part of it.
19:50Y'all miss this?
19:52He didn't say part of it.
19:53He said what?
19:55Okay, because wherever there is the absence of trust, there's going to be the presence
19:59of fear and the enemy doesn't use fear as a feeling.
20:03He uses fear as a tactic.
20:09He uses fear as a paralyzing agent.
20:16It produces spiritual paralysis.
20:19It undermines your ability to operate with your potential.
20:24This is why in second Timothy one, when Paul is talking to Timothy about the utilization
20:29of his gifts, he says, I want you to put the text in context.
20:33Verse six, he says, stir up the gift that you've been gifted.
20:39God's made the deposit.
20:42You got to deploy it.
20:45So he says, stir it up.
20:47The gift of God that's on the end of you, that was given to you by laying on hands of
20:50a presbytery for God did not give us.
20:56Put the text in context.
20:58He's talking about fear as it relates to the utilization of everything that God's put in
21:04you.
21:05Now, I don't want to treat you, because I'm Pastor Darius, I'm not Coach Darius now, but
21:10can I be Coach Darius for three seconds?
21:13Can I say it to you the way I would say it to you if I was coaching you?
21:16Wait a minute, I know where I can go, where my people at.
21:22Can I say it to you the way I would say it to you if I was coaching you?
21:27You're getting Coach Darius for three seconds.
21:28I'm coming back to Petey in just a second.
21:31Some of you stuck because you're scared.
21:35I knew you couldn't handle it.
21:39Scared.
21:43You playing small because other people are intimidated.
21:48Other people get tricked.
21:49Y'all aren't talking to me.
21:51You're playing small because you don't want utilizing the fullness of what God has given
21:57you to be misinterpreted as arrogance and ambition and ostentatiousness from other people.
22:04You know there's more in you, but you are quenching, and you are quelching, and you
22:09are resisting.
22:10Some of us are surrounded by people.
22:12You even have to be selective about your testimonies.
22:28Petey back.
22:29He says, Timothy, if you don't deal with fear, you won't unleash that gift.
22:41And what's so scary, Timothy, is you're so good, half of what you got is better than
22:46what most got.
22:50So Timothy, what make you dangerous is, you settle and it's still winning.
23:12Tario, let's go.
23:13They tired.
23:14You know what I mean?
23:17Settling is still winning.
23:21So with all your heart, with all your heart, and don't lean to your own understanding,
23:29that there's going to be times where there's a gap between what God's doing and what you
23:33understand, and you got a choice what you're going to lean on.
23:41We need to move from saying, this doesn't make sense, to either saying one or two things,
23:46this doesn't make sense now, or this doesn't make sense to me.
23:56Because God's ways don't contradict human reasoning.
24:02They transcend your ability to reason.
24:08So God's not unreasonable.
24:10God's not unintelligent.
24:12Our level of reasoning as a human is limited.
24:16This is God's rebuke to Job.
24:21This is God's rebuke.
24:22This is literally God's rebuke to Job.
24:24When Job's like, what you doing?
24:27This don't make sense.
24:29God says, okay, where were you?
24:33Since you know so much, tell me how I put the stars in the sky.
24:38Since you know so, come on, where were you?
24:41Since Job, since you know more than I know.
24:49Where were you?
24:52Here's the way Isaiah puts it.
24:53Isaiah puts it this way.
24:55He says, my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are my ways your ways.
25:00As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and
25:08my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
25:10What does he say?
25:11My ways are higher than yours.
25:13Not different, higher.
25:16My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.
25:18Not different, higher.
25:21I think higher than you.
25:25I know what I'm doing.
25:32So don't lean on your own understanding.
25:36Am I making sense, church?
25:38I said, am I making sense?
25:40In all your ways, I grew up memorizing King James, and it says, in all your ways, acknowledge him.
25:47Now, here's what we call, so here's a mistake I was making in interpreting the Bible.
25:52I didn't know I was interpreting the Bible, some passages, something called anachronistically.
25:56It is like imposing my time frame and what words mean in my time frame on the text.
26:05So interpreting an ancient text based off of what that word means for me now.
26:11So like King James version, let's say like, when it talks about love, it say charity suffer long.
26:16Well, charity in 2024 is like United Way.
26:23Right?
26:24In the 1600s, when that version of the Bible is written, it means love.
26:30So I'll be reading, okay, in all my ways, acknowledge God.
26:32It's like, what's up, God?
26:34Acknowledge.
26:36Consult.
26:41That's what I thought.
26:43But the word, and what is inferred there, is in all your ways, submit.
26:52Everybody okay?
26:55That's not, what's up?
26:59It's in all your ways, submit.
27:03Submit.
27:05Sub.
27:07Submarine.
27:09Get under.
27:11Get under God's mission.
27:16God has a mission for your life.
27:21And there are some times us and God are not going to agree on what needs to be done.
27:30And when me and God don't agree, I need to take my opinion.
27:35I need to take my will, and I need to bring it under.
27:41Listen to me.
27:43And many people are walking with God in agreement and calling it submission.
27:51You don't submit.
27:53You only submit when you don't agree.
27:58Gosh.
28:00So a person that's actually submitted to God is a person that doesn't require agreement to give God compliance.
28:10You think Abraham wanted to give up Isaac?
28:13Y'all aren't talking to me today.
28:15You think he wanted to give up Isaac?
28:17He gave what he'd rather keep.
28:20He submitted.
28:23Are y'all ready for this?
28:26Do you think Jesus wanted to go to the cross?
28:34There was a point in Jesus' journey where he reconsidered the cross.
28:40In the Garden of Gethsemane, he prays a prayer where he says,
28:45If it is possible, remove this cup from me.
28:51Nevertheless, not my will.
28:56Watch this.
28:57I have a will.
29:02I got a will.
29:04I have a won't.
29:06I have a wish.
29:07I don't want to do it no more.
29:12I mean, Jesus was talking heavy.
29:15I'll destroy this temple in three days.
29:17I'm going to raise it back up again.
29:19He got in that garden.
29:20Now, God, now that I thought about this.
29:28Oh, this is getting ready to happen tomorrow.
29:31That was Thursday night.
29:32He's like, oh, this is getting ready to happen tomorrow?
29:34Wait a minute.
29:36I felt a little more confident three years ago.
29:39This is getting ready to happen tomorrow?
29:40I got to die tomorrow?
29:45Boy, if I had time.
29:46Oh, gosh, I'm going to have to teach that.
29:48Because he's displaying what it means to be.
29:52He's fully God.
29:54But you got to know he's fully human.
29:57In Gethsemane, you see the humanness.
30:01So that when it happens to you, you normalize.
30:05You don't beat yourself up.
30:07You better than Jesus?
30:11Do you ever have second thoughts about obeying God and you think something's wrong?
30:16You think you're deficient spiritually because you have second thoughts.
30:19You're assuming you're better than Jesus.
30:25Tario play.
30:27Listen.
30:29Am I making sense?
30:31He says, in all your ways, submit.
30:33This is wisdom.
30:34Ain't it wise?
30:36Isn't this wise?
30:37He says, in all your ways, just submit.
30:39When we read what he says about relationships, just submit.
30:46Just bring what I think, just put it under.
30:50What it ought to be, just put it under.
30:53This is not control.
30:54This is protective custody.
30:56You cannot protect who won't submit.
31:01Every parent should have said a man there.
31:04You can only protect your children to the degree of their submission.
31:11If I say don't put those people in the car, you put those people in the car and y'all get pulled over because something's in the car.
31:18You weren't protected because you didn't submit.
31:24If you tell your child, stop jumping on the glass coffee table, stop jumping on.
31:28You can only protect to the degree that they will submit.
31:33You're not trying to control your child life.
31:35You got a life.
31:36Your hands are full with your life.
31:38You just trying to control me.
31:40No, I'm not.
31:41I have a life.
31:47I know you think because the glass on the coffee table hadn't broke, it won't break.
31:54And I know you don't, it doesn't look like it, but when you bleed, I bleed.
32:04When you hurt, I hurt.
32:07And so if us, if you and I, who are humans, feel that way about our natural children.
32:15How much more does our heavenly father feel that way about us?
32:22He says, if you will submit, I'll do what?
32:25I'll make your path straight.
32:28Some of us have been going in circles because we are committed to our own way.
32:37You don't have to do all these circles.
32:39I can kind of make your path straight.
32:42I can get you there in a way that saves you time and spares you wounds.
32:54I'll make your path straight.
32:55Don't be wise in your own eyes.
32:57Feel the Lord shun evil.
33:01Honor the Lord with your wealth, the first fruit of all your crops.
33:10Honor the Lord, the Lord Jehovah, the one who put breath in your body.
33:17The one, whatever you built, the one who gave you what you need to build it.
33:22Whatever you have, the one who gave you what you needed to have it.
33:26Whatever you created, the one that gave you what you need to create it.
33:29Honor him with your, let's go, with your wealth, the first fruit of all your crops.
33:34Then your barns will be filled to overflowing.
33:39Let me wrap up with this.
33:40I'm over time, but I'm Baptist, so I got to mix it.
33:42I'm Bapti-costal.
33:45Non-denominational.
33:47I'm all of it.
33:49You too, I'm all of it.
33:51I'll fall out with a hymn and I'll, wait a minute, I'll quicken too.
33:56I got it.
34:01Honor the Lord with your wealth, the first fruits of all of your increase.
34:07I teach this as a principle, not as law.
34:09The way my family and I practice this, the way I believe the Bible teaches this,
34:12the way millions of Christians have practiced this throughout history
34:16is through a principle called tithing.
34:19But here's what this truism, Proverbs is truisms.
34:23Here's what it says.
34:26I got to make sense of the text.
34:28I'm a title and we can go home.
34:30Then your barns will be filled to overflowing.
34:33So there was an agrarian society, so it's talking about food and barns.
34:36So if my barn is filled and then it overflows,
34:40I not only have what I need to take care of those that I'm responsible for,
34:45now I got overflow to be an answer to other hungry people.
34:52Am I making sense?
34:54Now watch this.
34:56Here's the real blessing with generosity.
34:59It's not just that your barns are filled to overflowing and you get to be an answer.
35:02It's verse 10.
35:04Your vats will brim over with new wine.
35:07The word vats is referring to what they kept wine in, right?
35:11Almost like barrels.
35:14Wine in the Bible is a metaphor for joy.
35:19This is emotional wealth.
35:23Gosh, listen to pastor.
35:25And emotional wealth is what actually determines the quality of your life.
35:32Economic wealth determines your standard of living.
35:36But emotional wealth determines your quality of life.
35:41You can walk into a home you love,
35:44but if something is broken in your heart,
35:47you can have the most amazing bed that you can never sleep in.
35:55You can have whatever car you want and get it in and feel like I'm going nowhere.
36:06He makes me an answer.
36:08But I can't get to what he promises in verse 10
36:12if I'm not willing to do what he says in 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
36:25Lord, make me an answer.
36:28Listen to my heart.
36:30I'm going to pray over you.
36:32We're going to give and we're going to go.
36:34But I want you to hear my heart because I don't want to be misinterpreted here.
36:37I want to say it right, but I don't want to be misinterpreted.
36:41God has called us as his people to be intercessors.
36:44So when the Bible calls us people that are like the priesthood of all believers,
36:49we intercede like a priesthood.
36:51So we are called to pray for others.
36:54Does that make sense?
36:56God wants to use us in that way.
36:58I think there's a lot of emphasis placed on being an intercessor.
37:04What I want to do is to say, in addition, in addition to being intercessors,
37:11God's also calling for us to be answers.
37:14Listen to me.
37:15Pastor, what's that?
37:17An answer is ananias.
37:19Intercessor, this is the person that's talking to God about a problem.
37:23The answer is the person God's talking to to be the solution.
37:30Thank God for intercessors.
37:32We need more of them.
37:34But in addition to intercessors, somebody's got to be an answer.
37:39Somebody's got to say, pray, God, get the kids through school.
37:43And there's got to be somebody God speaks to and say, take care of the tuition.
37:49Come on, God, do something about homelessness.
37:53There's got to be somebody God can speak to and say, hey, I want you to do something about homelessness.
37:58Israel said, Lord, get us out of Egypt.
38:01God spoke to Moses.
38:04Go get them out of Egypt.
38:07You're an answer.
38:09I'm an answer with what, Pastor?
38:11What you do with your time.
38:14I'm an answer with what, Pastor?
38:15What you do with your talent.
38:18I'm an answer with what, Pastor?
38:19What I do with my treasure.
38:22Lord, raise up a house, a church.
38:27Full of answers in Jesus name.
38:31Clap your hands, everybody.
38:34Praise God.
38:38Hey, I hope that message bless you.
38:40I hope you're honored.
38:42I hope your honor for the Lord has gone through the roof and I hope it adds value to you in a major way.
38:48Hey, if it challenged you in any way, I want you to make sure that you send this message to someone else.
38:54And if you want to sow back into the field that you're harvesting from, ways to give are available also.
39:00Love you. See you next time. Take care.
