00:00Letters to Santa
00:07It was just before Christmas on the island of Sodor, and all the children had been busy writing letters to Santa.
00:15It was the last chance to post them to the North Pole in time for Christmas.
00:20Once the postman had collected all of the letters, Percy would take them by train to Vicarstown.
00:27Then Hera would take them across to the mainland, and from there they would go by plane to the North Pole.
00:38It was Percy's job to deliver the letters to Vicarstown, but it was a difficult job to do with snow on the line.
00:46Have to hurry! Mail coming through!
00:50Hello, Percy! Are you okay?
00:57Yes, of course, Harold.
01:00Perhaps you'd like me to take the letters to Vicarstown. Snow on the rails is no problem for me.
01:06Thank you, but it's my job to deliver the mail.
01:09I only meant that you seem to be struggling.
01:12I am not struggling!
01:15Suit yourself! I'll continue patrolling the island.
01:24Why does that whirlybird think he's so much better than everyone else?
01:28Percy couldn't help remembering how Harold had called him Slow and Out of Date when they first met.
01:36Slow and Out of Date, eh? I'll show him!
01:44Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!
01:46Even though Percy had beaten Harold in a race, Harold still made Percy feel second best.
02:07Hello, Percy.
02:09What's the matter?
02:11Snow is making me slow, Thomas, and today's the last chance to get the letters to Santa.
02:17I have to take the letters to Vicarstown, and then Hero has to get them to the mainland,
02:21and then they still have to go all the way to the North Pole!
02:25Goodness, that is a long way!
02:27I know! I'd better hurry!
02:33Percy, hold on! There's still another sack of letters!
02:37But Percy was too far away to hear.
02:40I can help!
02:45Percy! Percy! Stop!
02:48Sorry, Harold, but I'm in a hurry!
02:51But I have some of your...
02:56Percy had no idea Harold was trying to help.
03:00He thought he was just making fun of his speed again.
03:03Percy! Please listen!
03:06I'll show him! I'm not slow, and I don't need any help!
03:12Please!
03:18Oh, no!
03:21Yes!
03:27Percy! Look out!
03:31No!
03:37I don't believe it!
03:41I suppose you think this is funny!
03:44Not at all! I was trying to tell you that you'd left a sack of mail behind at Dryor Station.
03:51I brought it for you!
03:53Oh! Well, it doesn't make any difference now.
03:56I can't get through this snowdrift, so none of the letters will get to the North Pole.
04:01Christmas is ruined!
04:03Perhaps I could take them across the island to Vicarstown for you.
04:07Then the letters will still get to Santa on time.
04:10Oh, would you, Harold? That's very kind.
04:18Soon all the mail was loaded and Harold was ready to leave for Vicarstown to pass it on to Hero.
04:25Thank you, Harold!
04:26It's my pleasure!
04:28Lucky we helicopters can't get stuck in the snow, eh?
04:39But travelling in the wintry weather wasn't easy for Harold, either.
04:44Oh, this snow! I can barely see where I'm going!
04:51So Harold was late with the letters, too, and Hero couldn't wait in Vicarstown any longer.
04:57He had to go.
05:00Hero hurried across the bridge and onto the mainland.
05:04Hero!
05:08Hero! Hero! Wait!
05:11I can't stop, Harold! I'm already late!
05:15I waited for Percy to bring the mail, but he never came!
05:19But that's why I'm here!
05:21Percy got stuck in a snowdrift and I've got his mail for you!
05:34What's wrong, Percy? Did you manage to deliver the mail on time?
05:39Did you manage to deliver the mail on time?
05:42No. I got stuck in a snowdrift and Harold had to take all my mail,
05:48but he couldn't help pointing out that helicopters are better because they don't have to use tracks.
05:54Oh, I've let everyone down, Thomas.
05:57No, you haven't, Percy. It's not your fault the weather stopped you doing your job.
06:02And isn't the important thing that all the children's letters get to Santa on time?
06:07Yes, I know, but...
06:08You always say Christmas is a time of goodwill to all people and engines.
06:13Maybe Harold was just showing the Christmas spirit by helping you.
06:19The next day, Percy heard some worrying news about Harold.
06:24Percy, have you heard? Harold didn't return to the Search and Rescue Centre last night.
06:31Oh no! I hope he's okay!
06:34Percy dumped his trucks at the shunting yard and raced off to find out what had happened.
06:41All the snow had been cleared from the main line,
06:45but there was no sign of Harold or the letters to Santa.
06:50Harold! Harold!
06:56Finally, Percy spotted Harold sitting in a snow-covered field on the mainland.
07:03Harold, are you okay? What are you doing here?
07:07Oh, hello, Percy. It's a bit embarrassing, actually.
07:13You did get all the children's letters to Hero, didn't you?
07:16Oh, yes, but I was so eager to catch him up that I didn't check I had enough fuel to get back to Sodor.
07:25I might have to spend Christmas in this field.
07:29I won't let that happen, Harold.
07:31One good turn deserves another.
07:36And so Percy came back with a Christmas surprise for Harold.
07:42Percy! You brought me my fuel! Oh, I don't know what to say.
07:49You helped me when I was stuck yesterday, so I'm now helping you.
07:54Oh, thank you, Percy.
07:56It's like I always say, Christmas is a time for goodwill to all people and engines, and even whirlybirds!
08:09Percy and Harold realised that they were both really useful in their own ways.
08:15And together they had made sure that the children of Sodor got the gifts they had asked for on Christmas Day.
08:26Merry Christmas!
