04:52benchmarks close the week with gains of 2% nifty media ends as the top gaining
04:58sector for the week while oil and gas close as the top laggards
05:04the SEBI chairperson and husband have all butch deny all allegations in a
05:09point-by-point rebuttal made in personal capacity call allegations false and
05:14misleading Bajaj housing finance lists on Monday Bajaj finance Bajaj fin serve
05:21rose up to 3% on expectations of doubling wealth car sales dropped by
05:27close to 2% in August compared to last year according to data coming in from
05:32Siam our car makers produced more and sold less Ford Motor set to restart its
05:39Tamil Nadu operation starboard to set up plant in Hosur and a slew of mo you
05:43assigned by Tamil Nadu's chief minister MK Stalin in the US has Tamil Nadu got
05:49its mojo back Supreme Court grants bail to the Delhi chief minister in cage
05:56but bars him from publicly commenting on the liquor policy case he also cannot go
06:01to the chief minister's office and secretariat for signing files typhoon
06:07Yagi claims 233 lives in Vietnam in the aftermath as rescue workers recovered
06:13more bodies from landslide and flood hit areas floodwaters in Hanoi have begun to
06:18recede but many neighborhoods remain inundated China approves plan to hike
06:25retirement age for the first time since 1978 aims to slow down the decline in
06:32the labor force and support economic growth
06:45good evening and welcome you are watching profit 360 on NDTV profit I'm
06:49no portal bar Suri now the sensex and the nifty were flat today as trading
06:53remains choppy and NDTV profits harsh site is joining us with a roundup of how
06:59the markets fed while the nifty has closed flat this Friday afternoon we
07:07are seeing good traction overall so nothing to be disappointed about
07:11whatsoever was closed with a slight negative bias we were just about 30 odd
07:16points lower in trade today versus yesterday but the nifty bank which is on
07:21the left you see a third of a percent higher so good traction seen on the
07:26nifty bank and the other piece also that was gaining was the nifty IT so those
07:30two heavyweights in terms of sectoral indices has done very well in trade
07:36today at least let's pull out the heat map see what within IT and banks did
07:41well and there you go you have the pro which is up around 3.4 odd percent but
07:47outside of that Tech Mahindra saw good traction as well HCL tech has done very
07:51very well LTI mine tree was up a fifth of a percent thereabouts as well but it
07:56was the financials which really did well in trade you saw the Bajaj twins doing
08:01well you saw IndusInd bank and Axis contributing the heavyweights not doing
08:06much look at where a Kotak is look at where an HDFC bank is and look at where
08:10a reliance is so therefore some of those not really moving what didn't do well
08:15within the financials itself you had SBI and HDFC life which didn't do well
08:20let's pull up the contributories and that's likely what we'll see as a
08:23reflection there as well ITC RIL softish or flattish in terms of their
08:29contribution and some of the financials and IT stocks really ruling the roost
08:36and holding markets otherwise which were otherwise would have been at least a
08:40hundred points or so lower now let's quickly pull up the nifty mid cap and
08:45small cap indices because that's where a bulk of the action today was they've
08:50done well in trade the mid cap was up around 0.7 odd percent nifty small cap
08:55also up roughly 0.9 percent so those two indices doing fairly well the advance
09:01decline reflecting that and the advance decline largely having a good balance in
09:08terms of advance to decline there you go so good breadth in terms of the
09:12market pretty much through the day and that's where the positivity comes from
09:17let's pull up the sectoral heat map we've already spoken about two key
09:21sectors but outside of that I want to talk about metals because that one has
09:25done very well in trade this week as well 0.9 percent on the back of all the
09:29gains it made yesterday the BSE 500 if you can quickly look at some of the
09:34buzzing stocks in trade those are all your buzzers linda india small
09:39acquisition but nonetheless the stock flying away in trade and those are some
09:43of the other ones home first and that entire clutch of housing financiers and
09:47Bajaj you know Bajaj related stocks were also a bus now in this scenario of out
09:55performance by the markets in which sectors does the bias lie MK investment
09:59managers Manish Senthalia believes that banking and insurance are good picks
10:05where do we hide in this sort of a market I think the idea is to buy into
10:11moderate growth companies at moderate valuations rather than looking to buy
10:16the best growth companies and the highest values in this way one can
10:21actually reduce this sectorally you can hide in pockets like banks financials
10:26this includes insurance or health insurance often take a platform
10:32companies in the fintech space you could find shelter in IP companies because ID
10:38companies would likely do well beginning second half of this year continuing and
10:43do the first half next year and obviously rate cuts in the u.s. is only
10:47going to help now the semi chairperson might be Puri butch and her husband
10:53have jointly denied the acquisitions which were made by all parties they call
10:58them false and defamatory has Charu from NDTV profit with all the details I Charu
11:02Charu take us through the details of the statement that has come in from the two
11:07of them I know so the couple the semi chairperson might be Puri butch and her
11:12husband have come out with a comprehensive statement against the
11:16recent allegations made against them and one of the most important points they
11:19made was that Madhavi butch has never dealt with any file involving Agora
11:24Mahindra group PD light dr. ready Alvarez and Marsal stem Corp visa leasing or
11:30ICICI Bank after joining SEBI it was also mentioned that information about
11:35the rental income that was mentioned in many allegations against her is also on
11:40that it was on off market rate is also completely false and that the IT returns
11:45of the couples based on which again some accusations were put against the couple
11:49were obtained illegally it was also mentioned that the SEBI chairperson had
11:52nothing to do and completely recuse herself from all the matters involving
11:56her before boots consultancy now this statement is a very comprehensive
12:01statement which point by a point says that the allegations made against them
12:06are completely false and are not true in nature however this comes after a
12:09plethora of accusations by the opposition SEBI's own employees
12:14Subhash Chandra and many other sectors however the couple has remained very
12:18strong in their standing saying that the accusations are completely false and do
12:23not have a strong base all right Charu thank you very much for joining us and
12:27giving us those details now Bajaj twins rose in trade ahead of Bajaj housings
12:31market debut on Monday and her side that is back with us on this he has been
12:36tracking the idea closely and Harsha take us through a comparison of Bajaj
12:43housing with its peers well Bajaj housing finance that's the IPO everyone
12:49is talking about we had Bajaj stocks buzzing on Friday doing very well in
12:55trade but outside of that we had some housing financiers also do very very
12:59well in trade now I want to try and break this down a little bit further it
13:03was a 6560 crore IPO roughly seventeen hundred and fifty crore was the book
13:09size for anchor and therefore around five thousand odd crore was the was the
13:14IPO size technically outside of anchor book which was oversubscribed 63 times
13:19and therefore you had a slush of liquidity coming into markets because
13:25you had three lakh crore plus in terms of bids which were made which were
13:29rejected and a lot of that traction was also seen both in Bajaj stocks which is
13:35Bajaj finance will serve as well as Maharashtra scooters you also saw some
13:40of the home financers do very well Aptus, Avas, Aadhar, Repco homes all of them did
13:47very very well in trade today now just in terms of valuations now at 70 rupees
13:53the price to book is 3.2 times maybe 2.8 2.9 times one year forward price to book
14:00that may of course be compared to some of the other housing financiers largely
14:07at par but if this were to list at a solid premium then likely some of the
14:13book value will get adjusted for example if it were to list at 100 or 110 the
14:19book value could be almost five times price to book five and a half times
14:23Bajaj finance trades at so to wait and watch of course premium in the
14:28unlisted market is strong and therefore it's going to be very interesting Monday
14:32where Bajaj housing as well as Bajaj names and housing finance names are
14:36concerned all right thank you for that Harsh now passenger vehicle sales have
14:40dipped in August the data is issued by the Society of Indian Automobile
14:44Manufacturers also known as SIAM I'm now joined by Puneet Javeri who will take us
14:49to a detailed breakdown of this CM data for the month of August has been
14:55released and we get you the latest data as well as the breakup within the
14:58automotive segment now you know car sales are down roughly 1.7% compared to
15:03the same time last year or August 2023 for this month it's come at roughly 3.52
15:07lakh units versus 3.59 lakhs unit in the same time last year with the for two
15:12wheeler specifically it's been a 9% growth which is a very positive result
15:15for the industry it's come in at roughly about 17.11 lakh units sold in this
15:20particular month versus about 15.66 lakh units sold in August 2023
15:24and on three wheeler sales are up roughly about 7.7% coming in at roughly
15:2869,900 units versus 64,900 units in the same time last year now if you look at
15:34you know if you take the look at the data the car sales have been affected
15:38due to tepid demand scenario as well as the high inventory build-up over the
15:41last six months and that's leading to a low growth in for all companies such as
15:45Maruti, Mahindra as well as Tata Motors for two-wheeler specifically they
15:48continue their growth momentum for quarter one also they show strong growth
15:52about 15 to 17 percent and in Q2 also that momentum seems to have sustained
15:56and going forward as well it's expected to have a good festival period for both
16:00these car cars. All right thank you for that now an Indigo flight from Mumbai to
16:05Phuket was diverted to Penang Malaysia due to bad weather conditions now
16:09passengers reported clogged washrooms a lack of food and water supplies and
16:13being stranded on the tarmac for over three hours NDTV profits Anushi
16:18Vakaria was on the flight and has now sent us this report from Phuket after
16:24the plane finally landed there
16:48the flight to Phuket was devoted to Malaysia and we were landed there at Penang
16:52in which Indigo had no prior connections also if you have to see other factors
16:57also included lower fuel cost so refilling was another factor other than
17:02that land charges because we were in a place where Indigo had no earlier
17:06association so that was also a scenario even the refreshments if we are to see
17:11that was served at the end so a couple of and toilets were also
17:15a lot of setbacks which had taken place in today's nights five hours of
17:20sleep in the Malaysian Airport and this is as to why finally we are viewers and
17:25what was the scenario which is building up for Indigo. All right now on to Boeing
17:33where trouble is brewing once again machinists have water to go on strike
17:37this is another setback for the giant aircraft maker whose repetition and
17:41finances have been battered and now faces a shutdown in production of its
17:45best-selling planes the International Association of Machinists and aerospace
17:49workers confirmed that ninety four point six percent of its members rejected a
17:54contract offering a twenty five percent pay raise over four years with a ninety
17:59six percent voting to strike and this adds to Boeing's tough year marked by a
18:03series of setbacks including issues with its aircraft and space programs
18:06dozens have taken to the streets and protest as they marched to a Union Hall
18:10near Boeing 737 max plant in Renton Washington it's clear that Boeing has a
18:15long road ahead in resolving the situation
18:27well onto some national news now the Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi's
18:32chief minister Arvind K. Trivala the court however has put in some conditions
18:38that on his bail which has been granted and Sunil Prabhu joins us with the
18:43details yes it's a big day for Arvind K. Trivala he's finally going to be
18:49released from the TRJ jail hopefully today later this evening this after the
18:55Supreme Court the two judge bench justice Suryakant as well as as well as
18:59justice Bhuwan made it clear that his bail plea should be accepted those
19:04conditions of course being the same as the enforcement directorate where he
19:08will not be able to attend office he will sign files only where it requires
19:12left-hand governor's approval and other bail conditions but of course there was
19:16a difference of opinion on the issue of the illegality of the arrest justice
19:21Suryakant saying there more questions than answers but upholding it just a
19:25beyond saying that the CBI should be uncaged as a parrot and allowed to act
19:31on its own and to ensure and really coming down and saying very categorically
19:35that this illegality of the arrest is not correct so there's a difference of
19:41opinion it will go to a larger bench it's an academic exercise at present for
19:44Mr. K. Trivala it's a big relief for him as well as his party and it's in that
19:50backdrop that the Delhi government will now have its chief minister there's been
19:57a war of words between the Aam Aadmi Party as well as the BJP and the
20:01left-hand governor hopefully this will help to bring back governance ahead of
20:06the state elections which are due early next year in Jan or February of that of
20:12the coming year right Sunil thank you for those details now in the Archie Carr
20:16case the CBI has moved the Kolkata High Court and sought permission for Sanjay
20:22Roy's narco test now the agitating junior doctors have also written to the
20:25president's Rupati Murmu and Prime Minister Modi requesting their
20:28intervention in the matter junior doctors across Kolkata continue their
20:31protest demanding justice West Bengal's Chief Minister Mantha Banerjee earlier
20:35said that she is willing to resign to restore calm in the state whereas the
20:38governor Anand the boss has lashed out declaring that he would socially boycott
20:42the chief minister and would continue only with his constitutional obligations
20:46towards her well the death toll in the aftermath of a typhoon in Vietnam has
20:53climbed to 233 rescue workers are continuing to recover more bodies from
20:58areas hit by landslides and flash floods floodwaters from the overflowing Red
21:03River in the capital Hanoi are beginning to recede typhoon Yagi made landfall
21:07Saturday starting a week of heavy rains and triggering flash floods and
21:11landslides across Vietnam 103 people are still listed as missing and more than
21:16800 have been injured while staying with international news China has
21:25approved to raise its retirement date for the first time since 1978 now this
21:30move is aimed at countering the demographic headwinds and economic
21:34slowdown women will now retire between the ages of 55 and 58 while the
21:39retirement age for men has been increased from 60 to 63 this change would
21:43delay the public from accessing retirement benefits and relieve the
21:47pressure on the government to fund pensions for a rapidly aging population
21:51and a declining birthrate well Ford Motors will restart its manufacturing
21:58plant in Chennai Tamil Nadu's chief MTA chief minister MK Stalin signed a letter
22:03of intent with the key heart the president of Ford international markets
22:07group to welcome the car manufacturing company back in the state with this
22:11export-oriented deal with Ford and several projects in the pipeline is this
22:16the start of Tamil Nadu's revival
22:23well moving on now there are just about four days to go for Ganpati Visarjan in
22:28Mumbai and the municipal corporation the BMC has made elaborate arrangements for
22:33the immersion of idols Yash Tiwari gets us the report on preparations
22:42the biggest problem faced by the BMC every year is the question of how to
22:47dispose Ganpati idols in an environment-friendly manner since 2016
22:52the BMC has set up artificial lakes in residential areas for Visarjan smaller
22:58idols get immersed in these ponds reducing the number of idols that go
23:02into the sea to identify a place where we are going to start our artificial
23:07lake system the place must be approachable by road first it should be
23:12surrounded by residential area and there should be parking place available for
23:17the visitors to park the vehicles when they come for Visarjan and lastly there
23:21should be where we can get the depth of around 5 feet to 12 feet so all these
23:26four conditions are met then we decide that location for artificial lake this
23:31year we are we have identified 204 locations where we're going to start the
23:35artificial lake the Bombay High Court had ordered on August 30th that the
23:40Central Pollution Control Board must ensure minimum environmental hazard in
23:44compliance BMC ordered all sculptors to avoid the use of plaster of Paris one of
23:50the most harmful chemicals going into the sea instead a special type of clay
23:56was given to the sculptors at a subsidized rate before the Ganesh show
24:00starts we started working on it from last six months only when we started
24:05with giving permissions to idol makers we call the meeting invited them for a
24:09discussion with us we made them aware about our about the guidelines which are
24:14given by CPCB and then we started providing them place for full sculptor
24:19to set up their workshops and we started providing them free clay that is shadow
24:25clay we call it and then we started providing them water facilities
24:30electricity facilities and once their idols are ready we have started
24:34providing them marketing facilities as well we have tied up with Zepto, Blinkit
24:40and Instamart and also some big stores like Sarkar Banda. There are still some
24:45who use idols made of plaster of Paris these idols are immersed in separate
24:50tanks for environment friendly degradation. We have created artificial
24:55pond over here because you know the idol are of POP also and of mud also so
25:01you can see there are six ponds over here half we do it for POP and half we
25:06do it for the whichever is prepared by clay or mud the reason is that POP idols
25:11are there they are immersed later on in the ammonia bicarbonate solution so
25:17after 48 hours that POP gets melt and after the process we can use it as a
25:23fertilizer. BMC has made a strong attempt to minimize environmental hazards
25:29as far as possible even the water in these artificial lakes is used to water
25:34plants in parks. Over the next four days the BMC will be on high alert as the
25:40large idols of the city will go on the final ride to the sea. We have installed
25:46478 steel plates on our various places where Chowpatty is there. 43 German
25:54boats we have installed. 761 lifeguards are deputed. 48 motorboats are given to
26:00these lifeguards. We have 274 vehicles which will be carrying the Nirmalayas
26:05from the resurgence. More than 200 artificial lakes like this have been set
26:11in and across the city of Mumbai. 13,000 BMC officials are on the road to manage
26:16the Lord Ganesha emergence for the next 10 days. With camera person Radha, this is
26:21Yash Tiwari for NDTV Prophet. Well on that note it is a goodbye from all of us
26:27here on Prophet 360. Thank you for joining us.
