00:00The government is now facing a problem with renewable energy and climate change.
00:07This is Rod Laguzad with the report.
00:12The development is more than a number.
00:14This is what President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. gave in the ceremonial turnover of the Asian Development Bank-Philippines Country Partnership Strategy for 2024-2029.
00:26According to the President, this is a change in the daily lives of Filipinos.
00:31The government is now facing a problem with renewable energy and climate change.
00:35Especially, the Philippines is the first country in the World Risk Index this year as the most vulnerable country when it comes to the effects of climate change.
00:44That's why the President gave importance to support the private sector.
00:48We must create jobs and opportunities for all with an eye to the sustainability and with an eye for our resilience as we face these new challenges.
00:59So under this new strategy, the ADB is not simply supporting projects, but it is laying the groundwork for a better future.
01:07The ADB's commitment includes low carbon transport, renewable energy, and resilient coastal development.
01:14This is especially possible if the GDP can reach 7.6% of the economy in 2023 due to climate change.
01:22In addition to the President, the ADB has become a strong country for almost six decades.
01:28The ADB's net commitment to the country has reached almost $9 billion as of mid-2024.
01:34It is the top multilateral development partner and the second largest source of official development assistance of the country.
01:41As we mark today's event, let us remember that the ADB's commitment of over $12 billion for the next three years
01:50is a precious vote of confidence in our shared vision for a brighter and better Bagong Pilipinas.
01:58On the part of the ADB, it has also given continuous coordination to the country
02:02such as infrastructure development, climate action, and poverty reduction.
02:06I want to reaffirm ADB's strong commitment to supporting the Philippines economic and social transformation
02:13through our new country partnership strategy.
02:18Building on our shared successes, I am confident that together,
02:23we will achieve remarkable progress in this new chapter of our partnership.
02:28The new country partnership strategy has been implemented in three critical areas.
02:32These include strengthening human development, strengthening economic cooperation and quality infrastructure,
02:38and expanding nature-based development and disaster resilience.
02:43Rod Lagusan for Pambansang TV in Bagong Pilipinas.
