00:05look at the brand-new McFarlane toys DC multiverse the Batman forever's Batman
00:30Batman faces off against two foes the schizophrenic horribly scarred former
00:39District Attorney Harvey Dent aka Two-Face and the Riddler a disgruntled
00:43ex-Wayne Enterprises inventor seeking revenge against his former employer by
00:47unleashing his brain-sucking weapon on Gotham City's residents at the Cape
00:51Crusader also deals with tortured memories of his parents murder he has a
00:54new romance with psychologist Chase Meridian sorry I'm late guys my beeper
00:59didn't even go off if only somebody would have turned at least on the bat
01:02signal just before of course we get a closer look at the new DC multiverse the
01:05Batman forever sonar suit Batman which right away is a bit of a strange choice
01:08that McFarlane would have gone with this one and not just a regular suit for
01:11Val Kilmer still though the figure is gonna stand at about seven inches in
01:15heights or about 18 centimeters tall I was really surprised to find all four
01:20figures at my local Toys R Us just going there after work expecting to find next
01:25to nothing sure enough I found a whole bunch of black Adam figures that weren't
01:28selling whatsoever just happened to look to the top shelf and looking back
01:31at me was Jim Carrey's Riddler sure enough I looked over and kind of stashed
01:36behind everything so I think somebody had the plan in mind to probably pick up
01:39all the four figures they were kind of stacked on their own and then in front
01:43of it were all these other boxes which usually right away is a telltale sign
01:46that somebody has hidden it with the idea to come back for it later yeah sure
01:49enough they had to face sure enough they had Riddler sure enough they had Batman
01:52and they also had Chris O'Donnell's Robin so I've dove to the front registrar
01:56I didn't really dive I wasn't really running all that fast but if anybody had
01:59the idea to go back later and pick up that the set that they stashed I had to
02:04be the bearer of the bad news I've already claimed them and they pay money
02:07for them so I wasn't necessarily stealing them but yeah I beat you to it
02:10bringing some of the other Batman figures now some of these in fact most
02:14of these have all been released as part of the Batman six-pack George Clooney's
02:18Batman for example was one of those notable characters along with the sonar
02:22suit Val Kilmer so right away again it's puzzling to me that they chose
02:26not to include a regular suit for Batman considering the sonar suit was
02:29already released as part of that six-pack and FYI also as well is that
02:33that sonar suit as part of the six-pack was a better painted figure than what
02:36we're getting here there's some weird color choices that they went with when
02:39the glump comes the gloves the cow will talk all about more of that in a moment
02:43bringing some other Batman figures in as well here's what he looks like with the
02:46Christian Bale Batman was also part of the Bane wave which is the way that I
02:49got this figure it was also by the six-pack the one figure the notable
02:53exception to that was also the Michael Keaton Batman not that Michael Keaton
02:56wasn't part of that six-pack but the regular Michael Keaton suit from the 89
02:59movie was the one that got packed in that sets this one just happens to be
03:02the tie-in for flash at least is though my stand-in for Keaton for at least
03:06right now now you know right away we're not gonna be making much progress when
03:10it comes to building nightmare bat the only part that comes included with
03:13Batman is the nightmare bats head I guess it is probably the coolest part
03:18because the only other things that come included the other three figures is the
03:21body and a couple of wings at least the bat head is a little bit more
03:24interesting now initially I wasn't really even sure if I like the idea that
03:28the nightmare bat was gonna be the bath I was kind of thinking myself could they
03:32have not have done other things like maybe like the mind-control blender for
03:35Riddler a little bit smaller version of that or maybe even like the safe or even
03:39maybe one of two faces goons the lightness slightly taller version
03:42probably could have done those as one of the notable bath pieces the bat was kind
03:46of for me like did they really need to release this although the more I look at
03:50it even just as a standalone back it's pretty cool it's pretty cool it does
03:53have of course an open and closed mouth it's decently painted to the top and
03:56the bottom of his teeth some glowing eyes I know right now we're only really
03:59looking at a bat head keep it away from Ozzy Osbourne whatever you do let's just
04:02put it off to the side the figure also comes of course include with a trading
04:06card the trading card does have what I feel to be the better-looking suit that
04:09just the regular suit which actually really isn't that much different than
04:12Michael Keaton suit other than just a little bit of changes though to the
04:14costume it for the most part is pretty much similar the back of it though does
04:18give a pretty long lengthy read up which is at least specific to the actual
04:21movie it's not just some generic read up of Batman real name though is Bruce
04:25Wayne in case you didn't already know of course we'll just put the card off to
04:28the side I mean this is obviously source material I don't mind in this case that
04:31they're actually using a photo because of course the photo is taken from the
04:33poster I wonder though because I haven't obviously opened up the other three if
04:37the rest of the poster is gonna be like kind of what we did with the Batman and
04:41Robin for example if you put like all the cards together hey look it's a
04:44donkey no it actually was the it was the poster of Batman and Robin I wonder if
04:47they're gonna do something similar to the Batman forever well time will only
04:51tell figure also comes included with a display stand of course for the figure
04:54itself the figure also comes included with a larger stand not for him
04:57necessarily but for eventually when we do build the bat the bat can't just fly
05:01on his own unless it's possessed or if you have yourself a fishing line that
05:04could be dangling down from the ceiling I suppose you probably could suspend it
05:07that way but what they did instead was that they give you the base and then
05:10they give you a post between those two you can actually take yourself the bat
05:14once it's built obviously other than just a head have yourself the bat so you
05:18can have it kind of just display behind Batman even if you don't even want to
05:21display it along with Batman just a kind of cool-looking bat so let's move all
05:27those things out of the way the thing also comes in clue with Batman is a
05:30whole bunch of batarangs some of them aren't the strongest of plastics like
05:34this one right here it's a pretty flimsy bit of plastic that they're using for it
05:37and unfortunately with the hands that he has so he gets basically two closed fists
05:42and then he has two gripping hands in preparation of this I've already taken
05:46the liberty of removing one of the hands in favor of a gripping hand even with
05:49this hand now replaced he barely holds on to the batarang it's just the hand is
05:54too big the batarang is too small you kind of have to tuck it in between the
05:57fingers and the thumb and he just barely holds it I'm being careful not to drop
06:02it because I know if I drop it's gonna take forever for me to find it so he
06:05doesn't hold that one as easily I mean I guess probably could fight it down a
06:09little bit further but the plastic being so thin like this I'm almost even
06:13worried oh there it goes there it goes see I knew it was gonna happen I'm
06:17worried that the plastic may actually break I'm not as worried necessarily
06:20with the larger batarang which I believe is the one that he uses at the very end
06:24of the movie blind as a bat he chucks it to the very top and basically just
06:28destroys I don't know how that necessarily reverses the process and
06:32causes obviously Edward he named that to have his head kind of a large and make a
06:37larger like that but basically throws this batarang to the very top and then I
06:42guess you two just sings in the background this is a little bit more of
06:45a harder plastic it still is a little soft but it's a lot easier for him to
06:48hold and then we just take it basically that and it fits into his hand kind of
06:54kind of really throws it like a propeller blade just be careful this
06:56time not to drop it on the floor yeah he just just barely holds it just barely
07:00holds it the last thing that figure also comes included with is the grapple line
07:04now I believe this is the line that he uses to latch on to the side of the
07:08building when they safe is for first being pulled up at the beginning of the
07:11movie fires this watches I don't know how somehow this safe he's inside just
07:16happens to swing right back perfectly into the hole it came out of and slids
07:20right back into the track where it came from in the first place this is not
07:23removable by the way it's cast in the same silver plastic and of course you
07:28can put that into his hand as well if you don't drop the figure in the process
07:30slide the handle in his hand grip like that I don't know what it is there's
07:35just something about this hand it doesn't seem to work all all that well
07:37with the battering it certainly doesn't work very well to hold the handle that
07:40it almost seems like the handle is way too big anyways though let's move all
07:44the accessories out of the way we'll get a closer look at the Batman now I'll say
07:48right away the positive things I like about is the head sculpt looks really
07:51good for it does it look like Michael Keaton I feel like it looks like Michael
07:54Keaton now with a sonar suit he's got the also the little slots there on the
07:57sides of his helmet the original Michael the original Val Kilmer version
08:02of Batman would have just had a regular straight cowl the problem here comes
08:06there's there's some stuff to kind of digest and unpack here first of all like
08:09the fact that they chose the sonar suit when we already have a sonar suit is
08:13probably the first one the second thing though is that the Batman's the Batman
08:17released from that six-pack actually had a better-looking painted costume it was
08:21a little bit lighter of a blue than this and in the movie it should really be a
08:24lighter blue not so much this kind of purplish blue that we get here in this
08:27figure release and also to like his cowl and his neck should match the same
08:31colors six-pack did it I don't know why the singular release didn't get the same
08:37sort of treatment I mean if they wanted to make it separate from the other one
08:40so the other one looks very much different from this one why wouldn't
08:43they have just not given him the regular costume instead because then if you
08:47already have the six-pack and I'm just kind of throwing the logic out there if
08:49you already have a six-pack you probably have no then interest to pick up this
08:52one it just doesn't seem to me like a logical thing if they already have that
08:56version of sonar suit why not just release it in the regular suit despite
09:00not having matching colors though for his cowl again like the head scopes
09:03pretty good I don't really have complaints there but it really did need
09:06to match the same colors the neck and a head are clearly a different color than
09:09the rest of his body the cape is also one thing too now it's black and it's
09:13also using at least a fabric cape so it seems like they're really moving away
09:16from the idea of using plastic capes in favor of fabric capes which is good but
09:21just like the cape needed to be a little bit more closer in color to the
09:24suit his utility belt is also something that's a little bit different of a color
09:27too it's silver now with a gold emblem there on the front I think in fact like
09:31the original one also had that as well but it was probably a little bit more
09:34matching in colors just because like the color of the suit was already lighter
09:37that the utility belt even if it's still the same gray would have matched a little
09:40bit more nicer I mean for what it is I do like the coloring of the blue but it
09:44just doesn't suit necessarily a sonar suit Batman it need if it was gonna be
09:48like as a repaint which I guess you could say this is a repaint to the
09:51original figure release it's just if you want to have this be the definitive
09:55Batman the color choices I feel are just a little bit off now the lower boots are
09:59also something that's different in color obviously they're using a matte black
10:02here they're using a matte black for the gloves and a matte black for the the
10:05headpiece just doesn't quite jive really with the rest of his body for the figures
10:10articulation though Batman's head is gonna be on a ball joint so if you're
10:13familiar with the other Batman you're pretty much gonna be familiar with this
10:15one the head looks up about that high and it looks down and you can also rock
10:19it back and forth as well the upper torso is gonna be on a ball joint and a
10:22very generous ball joint the lower abdomen is also the same the the arms do
10:26come out they're a little tighter on this figure which not it's not
10:29necessarily a bad thing the arms rotate all the way around on both sides he has
10:33a swivel at the bicep he has a double hinge on the elbow and the hands rotate
10:36all the way around the legs split out and you probably can already hear when
10:41they split out there's a very loud ratchet joint working behind the scenes
10:44he does also have of course the the lower trunks they're a softer plastic
10:49they do look like they a little baggy on the sides especially when you start to
10:53rotate his torso back and forth like this it could be a little bit smaller I
10:57suppose in size but I guess to accommodate really the thickness of his
11:00thighs it probably works the best way this way legs move forward legs move
11:04back there's a swivel at the top of the thigh double hinge on the knee no
11:08articulation for the boobs just because it's a continued sculpt from the rest of
11:11his calf there is though an ankle pivot back and forth an ankle rocker and the
11:15figure does also have toe articulation as well now I don't have the six-pack
11:19Batman set to even pay that prices of what the sets going for right now I
11:23couldn't I couldn't justify it I think probably to get that set you're probably
11:26looking at well into $200 which again would have pretty much all the most most
11:30of the figures I already have in my collection it would have the Pattinson
11:33Batman it would have the Affleck Batman it would have the bail Batman the only
11:37thing that would be different is it would have the original Michael Keaton
11:40Batman which I don't have I only have the flash stand in right now so based on
11:44that if I already had picked up the six-pack I would have already said like
11:47the six-pack version of the sonar suit is much better of a painted figure than
11:50what we're getting right here for that to be already the case this figure
11:54already technically exists in the canon of what we're getting four figures I
11:57just don't feel like to release four figures and only four figures from this
12:01first wave and I probably will talk a little bit more about that when we look
12:04at that like the Riddler and the Two-Face I think there's definitely a
12:06step where they could go to like a platinum edition releasing like the
12:10white suit version of Riddler and also like the the carnival top hat version of
12:15Two-Face they probably could release those as platinum editions I just don't
12:18know if I would have picked necessarily first of all I don't know if I would
12:21have picked sonar suit Batman because we already have that figure a regular suit
12:24Batman would have been the one I think most collectors probably would have
12:27wanted being that they already had the chance to pick up that six-pack and even
12:30then if you had already missed your chance on getting that one you just want
12:34to pay the prices say this is your only example of getting a sonar suit in your
12:38collection the colors are just honestly off the color of the cowl the color of
12:42his gloves and even like the color of his boots just don't match the colors of
12:45what they should be and also to like the coloring of a suit should be a lot
12:48lighter than what it is the color is good it just the color isn't good for
12:52sonar suit Batman on the one hand I missed my chance to get that six-pack
12:56Batman set and I'm not paying the crazy stupid prices it's going for now online
12:59so I finally now can say I have a sonar suit Batman to be displayed with all the
13:03other movie time figures on the other hand though the sonar suit really only
13:07appears at the end of the movie when Batman's first introduced to Robin and
13:10they have to go of course the Edward Enigma's island lair Batman flying the
13:14Batwing Robin who again I want to remind everybody was formerly a trapeze artist
13:18somehow somehow can drive the back that boat maybe has pretty simple controls
13:23inside just has a steering wheel and some gears I don't know I don't think
13:26maybe Batman kind of simplified things with the idea that maybe down the road
13:29somebody what else would have to drive the bat boat the point is I'm trying to
13:33make though after that long-winded detail is the Batman in the sonar suit
13:37only really appears in the end of the movie if you're looking at the runtime
13:41for how long he's wearing suits the regular suit really is the one that
13:44takes up with the majority of the movie you would think though with four figures
13:48only being released in the bath set here that they would have not chose the
13:51regular suit I mean obviously they already have the tool available for this
13:55version of the suit but for those that have already picked up the six-pack
13:58already has right away a better-looking sonar suit I don't know would be as
14:02interested to get this one unless they're specifically going to build the
14:05bat the sonar suit definitely is looking better though in the six-pack and I have
14:11this one at least for right now maybe eventually if the six-pack gets dropped
14:15in price or somebody is just very goes easy on me I can buy it for a cheaper
14:19price maybe I would get myself a better-looking sonar suit this one at
14:23least is a stand-in for right now but it's admittingly not perfect the
14:26coloring of the cowl is really like the most jarring thing it really should
14:29match the colors of the rest of his suit and even then the color of his suit
14:32isn't quite the silver that it should be in the movie it's kind of this it's a
14:36good color but it just doesn't match necessarily if you want it to be the
14:39movie costume color kind of this purplish blue that they've used for the
14:43majority of it looks more like if anything like a variant of a Kenner
14:46figure like if you've got a movie Batman Kenner eventually would just release
14:50that mold again in a different color suit and call it a different colored
14:53name this on paper is sonar suit but like from the practical standpoint of
14:57things the colors are way off the head sculpt is good but again like I just
15:02think that the rest of the coloring of the rest of his body just doesn't quite
15:04match with the cowl and the gloves it could have been there just again because
15:09they already have the mold in place I would have just been fine honestly that
15:13they just literally took the figure from before use the same colors of the
15:16plastics and just simply re-release the figure again for the people that missed
15:20their chance the first time what do you guys still think of sonar suit Batman

15:30is a four-pack where we have a regular two-face a regular Robin and a regular
15:33Riddler if a chance down the road happens where we get platinum editions

15:39dressed Riddler and a top hat carnival two-face yeah I mean there's obviously
15:44opportunities down the road but I think right away Batman should have just been
15:47in his regular fatigues not the sonar suits if you guys did enjoy this video
