00:00Locals have started to lay flowers here at the scene in Falkenbridge, where yesterday
00:07the bodies of two young boys aged 9 and 11 were discovered by their father with stab
00:13wounds and their mother was taken into custody and she remains at Westmead Hospital under
00:19police guard.
00:20It was at 12.40 in the afternoon when the father made the grim discovery.
00:24The boys' bodies were found with stab wounds and shortly after police arrested their mother
00:29when she was taken to hospital for self-inflicted injuries.
00:33She remains in a stable condition and is yet to be formally charged.
00:37Now the tragedy of this incident is being felt across the community today and will continue
00:42to be felt for many months to come.
00:46Many locals are too emotional to speak at the moment and consoling one another, unable
00:51to process that this has happened on their own street.
00:54We heard from police yesterday that this is as tragic as it comes.
00:58We've also spoken about the help that will be available for those police officers who
01:04first attended the scene.
01:06Police Commissioner Karen Webb decided to come up here personally yesterday to provide
01:10that support to the local command.
01:12We've seen a lot of tragedy in recent months.
01:15The deaths of these two boys makes it six children now who have died from suspected
01:21family and domestic violence incidents in New South Wales in just the last four months.
01:27Neighbours of course are still coming to terms with what has taken place here as well.
01:32Many of them said they used to see those children riding their bikes up and down the street
01:36regularly and attended the local school not too far away from here where they were 24
01:41hours before their bodies were discovered by their father yesterday afternoon.
01:46The mother remains under police guard in Westmead Hospital.
01:49She's yet to be formally charged.
01:51Police say she was known to them but only for minor matters.
