00:00Yeah, Jo, absolutely tragic scenes here this afternoon at Falkland Bridge.
00:06We understand that the father of these two little boys found them suffering stab wounds
00:12just after 12.30 today.
00:16We understand he called police and they have arrived to a really horrible scene here.
00:23As you've said, that 42-year-old woman, the mother of these children, has now been arrested.
00:28She's under police guard in hospital.
00:32We've spoken to neighbours and people here who are just in shock hearing what has happened,
00:39what's alleged to have happened here this afternoon.
00:41Police have been here for several hours.
00:44The road has been blocked off as these investigations get underway.
00:50Homicide squad detectives, as you've said, are on scene here.
00:53We heard from police a little earlier this afternoon about the scene that they arrived
00:58to here in Falkland Bridge.
01:00The more experience you get in this job, things like this still cut to the core and what is
01:06not lost on me is that we've got officers here that have got children this age and that's
01:14a normal human reaction that people would be affected when they've lost kids around
01:19their own children's age.
01:21It's a tragic situation.
01:23The New South Wales Police Commissioner speaking there.
01:25Melissa, how has the local community reacted?
01:30This is a really small community.
01:32We've been speaking to neighbours here this afternoon who are absolutely distraught and
01:36in shock about what is alleged to have occurred just down the street from them.
01:41A number of neighbours we've spoken to have said that they regularly saw these two little
01:47boys riding their bikes up and down the street.
01:50People here who have lived here for decades say that everyone here knows each other, they're
01:57quite friendly and it's a really quiet area.
02:01As we've been here this afternoon, huge numbers of cars have come down the road as people
02:10are returning from work.
02:12We've seen students returning from school this afternoon, seeing police cars taking
02:17over their street.
02:18It's been quite a shock for the community here and you can take a listen to some of
02:23what they've had to say.
02:25Shocked and upset because I used to see those boys riding around here on their bikes.
02:32It's just such a lovely, quiet, pretty place.
02:35You don't expect that kind of thing to happen.
02:40So really emotional scenes here this afternoon, Jo, and no doubt a long investigation to come
02:45for police and a lot of questions to be answered for the community here.
