00:22Magistrate Khairul Nisak Hasni issued the remand order on Tuesday for the suspects,
00:27aged 46 and 48.
00:30The duo were detained at 3pm on Monday after being summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption
00:35Commission, MACC Headquarters in Alai, to assist with the investigation.
00:41Malacca MACC Director Adi Supian Shafi confirmed the arrests, stating that the investigation
00:47is being conducted under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
00:53If convicted, the suspects could face a fine of up to five times the value of the bribe
00:58or 10,000 ringgit, whichever is higher, and a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
01:05The MACC launched the investigation after two illegal advertising billboards collapsed
01:10in Bandar Hilir and Jalan Bacang due to strong winds on July 14.
01:15On July 15, State Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman Datuk Rais Yassin confirmed
01:21that the collapsed billboards did not have permits from the local council.
