Fifteen Indian nationals were detained in connection with a tourism package scam, says Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf.

At a press conference on Friday (July 12), the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director said the company, which did not have any licence to operate, offered three packages - RM50,000 for 50 days, RM25,000 for 40 days and RM14,000 for 14 days, - to any country in the world.

01:07this syndicate is believed to have been operating since the beginning of 2024,
01:12using the name of a company.
01:14The company promotes the tourist package
01:19and promotes it through a survey to foreigners.
01:24If the victim is interested, they need to come to the syndicate for explanation.
01:30Three packages were offered, namely the RM50,000 package for 50 days of vacation,
01:36the RM25,000 package for 40 days of vacation,
01:41and the RM14,000 package for 14 days of vacation.
01:46Customers who are interested are allowed to make a choice of vacation to any country in the world.
01:55The survey conducted by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, MOTEC,
02:01found that the company does not have license to operate as a tourist company.
02:07So far, two police reports have been made by the victim who was deceived,
02:12and this company involves a total loss of RM14,000.
02:19All 15 individuals who were arrested are being prosecuted until July 20, 2024,
02:26under the Immigration Act 1959-63.
02:30The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Tort Law.
