00:00Wife of Odo State Governor, Betsy Obaseki has said she's hopeful of giving birth at
00:06God's own time, adding, she's a fruitful woman who have had numbers of miscarriages
00:11and cases of stomachs or evacuation of dead babies from her womb.
00:16Betsy Obaseki disclosed this on Saturday after the immediate past governor of Odo State and
00:22the current senator representing Odo North senatorial zone of the state, Adams Oshomole
00:27earlier in the month called her out alongside her husband, the Odo State governor, Godwin
00:33Obaseki, that they are childless and they refuse to adopt children even when both of
00:37them are in their 60s.
00:39Betsy Obaseki took advantage of Odo Diaspora Women Virtual Town Hall meeting tagged, Odo
00:45First Letters One-on-One with the Diaspora Community, to narrate her life experiences
00:50with the wife of People's Democratic Party, PDP candidate Ifeinwa Igodalo amongst others
00:57in attendance as the meeting started around 3 p.m. Nigeria time on Saturday.
01:02Betsy Obaseki during the meeting said that she is a potential and proud mother of children
01:07who will come in God's time.
01:09Oshomole has said before journalists that the governor and his wife refused to adopt
01:14any child because they did not love children.
01:18He stated this after describing his successor, Godwin Obaseki and his wife, Betsy Obaseki
01:24as childless.
01:26The Odo not senator made the controversial comment that drew the attention of many people
01:31in the society while he said he was reacting to a statement by Betsy, in which she reportedly
01:37claimed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the state,
01:42Monde Obaholo don't have a wife.
01:45In the video, Oshomole said the governor and his wife refused to adopt any child because
01:50they did not love children.
01:53I was shocked yesterday to see Mrs. Obaseki, the first lady, saying that our candidate
01:59has no wife.
02:01She is the most, I'm sorry that she has to say that, because here is a woman who has
02:06no child.
02:07Between him and Obaseki, they have no child, they are childless, he said.
02:14They are even not ready to adopt.
02:16I mean, I don't blame, anybody should not have a child.
02:21But people who have love for children, they go to motherless home and adopt children.
02:27They have not adopted, they are both in their 60s.
02:31So you married, I don't know whether it's a contract or whatever it is, but they have
02:37no child.
02:38However, Betsy while addressing women during the Zoom meeting with Odo women in the diaspora
02:44on Saturday, urged childless women not to see themselves as barren but as fruitful,
02:50potential, and proud mothers of children that would come in God's time.
02:55She reminded them that everyone was created by God for a purpose, adding that she was
03:00yet to have a child because she experienced miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations
03:06of babies who died in her womb.
03:09She said, my words of comfort to you, like myself, who have conceived and experienced
03:16miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations of babies who died in our wombs, is this,
03:23you are not barren.
03:24I am there to call you fruitful.
03:27You and I are potential and proud mothers of children who will come in God's time.
03:33Enjoy the life God has given you.
03:35Take your mind off your challenge, and before you know it, children will start coming.
03:41My contributions to society have gone beyond the biological aspect of motherhood.
03:48Being fruitful is not limited to childbearing.
03:51It is about impacting lives and creating positive change in society.
03:55There is no point in feeling bad.
03:58Women can fulfill God's purpose in many ways beyond motherhood.
04:02She added, I was shocked yesterday to see Mrs. Sabasiki, the first lady, saying that
04:09our candidate has no wife.
04:12She is the most, I'm sorry that she has to say that, because here is a woman who has
04:17no child.
04:18Between him and Mrs. Sabasiki, they have no child, they are childless.
04:21They are even not ready to adopt.
04:24I mean, I don't blame anybody if you don't have a child, but people who have love for
04:28children, they go to a motherless home and adopt children.
04:31They have not adopted, they are both in their 60s.
04:35So you're married with, I don't know whether it's a contract or whatever it is, but they
04:39have no child.
04:40Now, our candidate not only have children, he has invested in the education of those
04:45children such that you watch them on live television, covered by your media stations,
04:51where the first one that spoke is a lawyer, the second one is a medical doctor, and they
04:57address the crowd in the south, in the north, et cetera, in the north, and their mother
05:02was there.
05:04As a human being, I believe what's most important is that we find a purpose.
05:13Everyone is structured on Earth by God to actualize their purpose in life.
05:20And once we have that mindset and we seek that in life, and we are happy with our lives,
05:30and we know that we're moving on in actualizing God's purpose for our lives, in bringing
05:34glory to God in the way we live our lives, it wouldn't matter if scanty remarks are flung
05:48at you.
05:49I would like to say to every woman I call you, or sisters, if you feel hurt by whatever
06:00you heard, I haven't paid much attention to it, my word of comfort to you would be this.
06:11In addition to what I just told you about seeking God's face, seeking God's purpose,
06:17and being, trying fulfillment there, I would say to you, those of you who, those of you
06:30sisters, who, like myself, have conceived and had miscarriages, I would also say to
06:44you, sisters, who again, like myself, have had painful evacuations of our babies who
06:55have died in our wombs, I have suffered one such misfortune, I would also like to say
07:03to you out there, who have lost, conceived and birthed babies who died perhaps at birth
07:13or at different stages in life, who, all of you, including ourselves, who have conceived,
07:22miscarried, had evacuations, who, as we speak today, do not have children to show for the
07:33trauma and the pain that we have experienced in life, my word to you, word of comfort to
07:47you, as I say to myself, you are not barren, okay, you are not barren, so don't be hurt
07:57if anyone calls you that, or anyone calls a fellow woman that, you are not barren, I
08:05dare to call you fruitful, and I say to you, and I say to myself, you and I, we are potential,
08:16budding, prospective, proud mothers of lively children, the children will come in God's
08:28time, so hang in there, hold your head up high, you are not barren, enjoy the life that
08:43God has given you in the meantime, thank God for what you have, thank God for a loving
08:49spouse like I have, I say that I have the best husband in the world, thank God for the
08:55love of family, friends, and all the support systems that God has given to you, enjoy the
09:01life he has given to you, find your purpose, face it, and take your mind off these things,
09:07and before you know it, it will happen, I have learned that sometimes there are some
09:17people who are meant or called to pay the price for some others, it strikes me that
09:27perhaps this is what's happening here with me, and I've embraced it, embraced the call
09:35to pay the price on your behalf, to ensure that no man or woman ever calls you barren
09:45in this life.
