Arcade Paradise VR REVIEW on the Quest 3

Enter the virtual realm in Arcade Paradise VR, transporting you back to 1993 for an all-new immersive experience oozing with retro-fuelled gaming nostalgia. Taking you on an empowering journey from rags to riches, Arcade Paradise is an adventure and light-management sim combo game where you transform the decrepit King Wash laundromat into a thriving business.

Set in the rundown town of Grindstone, you play as Ashley, a rebel teenager going against your father’s wishes to continue the family business. Get hands on managing the fully gamified day-to-day tasks, from manually picking up gum, doing the laundry, and scrubbing a toilet perfectly clean - to throwing out the trash in a basketball style mini game. Then, take your hard-earned money from completing these tasks to unlock your real objective… buying more arcade units!

Featuring 12 fully realized VR cabinets alongside 27 traditionally controlled games from the original release, it’s time to play, profit and purchase your way to your very own Arcade Paradise.

00:00When I saw the promotional advert for this months ago I was really looking forward to
00:17playing it. It just looked like something different. The shop looks fantastic and the
00:22game has a nice but simple story. Run a business, make money, please your dad. The idea is that
00:29people that come in waiting for you to do their laundry will go play your arcade machines
00:35as they wait and this will earn you more money. Now as always, I'll be honest, this game held
00:43my attention for around 90 minutes but then I found it just got boring. Just doing the
00:50same thing every day, cleaning up trash, taking it out, though you're not actually taking
00:55it out, it just magically appears outside in a bag. Cleaning the toilet, then putting
01:00the laundry in the machines and selecting the correct washing cycle or drying cycle.
01:07Get it wrong and you won't make as much money. Make sure to read the instructions wrote clearly
01:12on the wall instead of being like me and trying to guess the setting to dry the clothes. It's
01:17really simple if you actually read. I've played three sessions and each time at around an
01:24hour and a half to two hours, I just get bored. Now you can expand your business to
01:29fit more machines. You can buy stuff on the in-game web such as ordering new arcade machines,
01:37buying new music for your jukebox, buying upgrades such as a new safe mechanism, a watch,
01:43car, shoes, loads of books. Even throwing out the trash, they have turned into a game.
01:51Throw it in, score some cash. Now the games which you can buy for your arcade, you can
01:57actually play, but they are hit or miss. You are given a to-do list also. Doing things
02:04involving your arcade machines such as reaching a certain score or losing so many points.
02:12Each one you cross off the list, you are rewarded with a small amount of money. I would have
02:17really liked to have seen people come into the laundromat and not just hear the bell on the door
02:22as it opens and a basket of laundry just magically appearing on the desk. Even the graphics on
02:29the arcade machines could have been a bit better than what they are, but I get that
02:34they are meant to look this way to fit in with the vibe of the game. There are quite
02:39a lot of machines to collect and whilst the games are simplistic, some are fun, others
02:44are not and I swear some didn't even work for me. Whilst I don't hate the game, I don't
02:51really love it either. I don't get a strong urge to pick this game back up again, though
02:56when I am playing it, I really do like trying to get more arcade machines. On the flip side,
03:03some of you may enjoy the slower pace of this game and how relaxing it can feel. So I'm
03:09going to score Arcade Paradise VR an 18 out of 25 and you can find my scoring system in
03:17the description section below. Please hit that like button if you found this video helpful
03:22and if you are also playing this, then tell us about it in the comments. Come be part

03:32to you in the next one.
