ASH aka Trauma Queen describes themself as ‘the most horror-centric drag artist of Nashville.’ They create incredible looks and outfits using some unconventional materials with ‘cute’ and ‘body horror’ elements and punk fashion. But today, Trauma Queen is stepping out of their comfort zone (which in their words ‘isn’t that comforting’) and being transformed into a Megan Fox-inspired look. They said: “I really want to see how unrecognisable I can get.” They will be surprising their mum, sister and friend with the transformation - what will they make of the Megan Fox-inspired look?

00:00I would probably describe my whole aesthetic as adorable body horror.
00:04My name is Ash, but I'm more commonly known as Trauma Queen, the most horror-centric drag
00:09artist in Nashville.
00:11Today, I'm transforming from horror fanatic to Megan Fox.
00:18So have you ever done anything like this makeover before?
00:21I really haven't.
00:22I'm going to be revealing this look to my mom, my sister, and one of my bestest friends.
00:28I'm feeling a little nervous.
00:30I was really looking forward to this, hoping it turns out well.
00:36Ta-da!
00:39Oh my god.
00:42Well, this part, like this little shindig, it's supposed to be like my skin is ripping
00:49up from all the metals being all held together, like all the safety pins and stuff, but really
00:55it's less of a concept and more like just art.
00:59It's so cliche, but I got into drag by pirating Drag Race when I was 14.
01:04I never heard about drag, I just wanted to get more into like gay culture and learn about
01:08it because I was just coming out of the closet then.
01:10I would say drag is so perfect for me expressing myself because it's fashion, it's hair, it's
01:15makeup.
01:16It's all I can think about, really.
01:17It's what I poured all my energy and money and a lot of money into.
01:25Do you love or do you love?
01:28I think I love.
01:29You can put it on the answer.
01:31My friends and family are super supportive.
01:34I've always been like walking around like filming something for like a competition and
01:38my mom would be like, oh, you're doing great Ash, you look so pretty, and I'll be like
01:42bloody like, ahhh.
01:45How are you guys feeling about like my transformation?
01:48Are you guys excited?
01:50I'm definitely nervous.
01:51You've transformed into a lot of things, so I don't really know what's going to be special
01:55about this one, so that's going to make me nervous.
01:58They're very much a part of the journey with me.
01:59I get to see a lot of the stuff.
02:01I always try to take them to my shows.
02:03The makeup artist is going to be here soon, so I kind of need you to kind of like get
02:07the f*** out.
02:08Okay, we can do that.
02:11Bye.
02:12See ya.
02:13I really want to get transformed just to try something new and get out of my comfort zone.
02:18And I really want to see how unrecognizable I can get.
02:21Hi.
02:22Charlotte Queen.
02:23Hello.
02:24Hi.
02:25Are you ready to get transformed?
02:27I was born ready.
02:28Yes.
02:29Come here, come here.
02:30Today, I'm transforming from horror fanatic to Megan Fox.
02:36I think she's so gorgeous.
02:37I loved her and Jennifer's body.
02:40She's just, she's just so cool.
02:43I think this transformed look is going to be complete opposite night and day of Ash's
02:49Trauma Queen's current look.
02:51Wow, Blondie.
02:53Natural blonde, yes.
02:55Yes.
02:56A little too industrial today.
02:59Never.
03:00Oh my god.
03:01Does it hurt?
03:02Not yet.
03:03Personally, I love, love, love Trauma Queen's original look and makeup.
03:19You better.
03:21The clothing, the actual makeup itself, it's so unique.
03:26It's so bold, especially for Nashville.
03:28It's not something you see every day.
03:30So yeah.
03:31Kind of hated to take it off.
03:32I didn't feel that good about it, but I'm really excited to see Trauma Queen's new look
03:37for a day.
03:38I just like to be entertaining, a little bit eccentric, and basically how I wish I could
03:43be out of drag because I am like clinically shy, but the drag community scene is so essential
03:50and especially with all the laws happening now, we've all kind of formed like an even
03:54bigger community.
03:55Like we're all really looking out for each other.
03:57So what would you say your inspiration is for your normal Trauma Queen look?
04:02For Trauma Queen, my bigger influences, probably just whatever pops into my mind.
04:09Gosh, my style, it's honestly whatever I think of in the moment.
04:13Like I always want to evolve.
04:14I always want to change, but I always like something like really cutesy with like elements
04:19of body horror or like punk fashion.
04:21I always like huge wigs, big mohawks, but I always like to make my own stuff too.
04:26So there's definitely an element of DIY and unconventional materials as well.
04:30Like there's a lot of different variations, especially in drag, but I think in the general
04:34sphere of drag, I am very unique amongst the more unique people.
04:39So have you ever done anything like this makeover before?
04:42I really haven't.
04:43I guess I've been staying in my comfort zone, which really isn't that comforting.
04:48Kind of the opposite of everybody else's comfort zone.
04:53I love that.
04:55So I like to go out in public a lot, so I'm very used to getting a lot of stares.
05:00My friends are always like, everybody's staring at you.
05:03It's like, I know, what do you want me to do about it?
05:06So I've just learned to just tune it out.
05:09Keep staring straight.
05:10Keep walking forward.
05:11Eyes on the prize.
05:12Don't even look at them.
05:13Sometimes I'll be like, just give them a little like, don't mind your own business.
05:20You're almost done.
05:22How are you feeling?
05:24I can't wait.
05:27We did have one challenge in that we had to create a little brow for this queen, because
05:33they completely shaved their brows so that they can make them anything that they want,
05:37right?
05:38Yes.
05:39All right, Trauma Queen, your makeup's done.
05:44Oh my gosh!
05:46Oh, this old thing.
05:49Okay, can you bring it forward without me killing you?
05:55Okay, leave it like that.
06:01Are you ready to see yourself transform?
06:04I've got butterflies in my stomach.
06:06Oh my goodness.
06:07Yeah, I just, I can't wait.
06:09I can't wait.
06:10I want, the anticipation is killing me.
06:12All right, here we go.
06:19Oh my God.
06:21What the?
06:24I don't even recognize myself.
06:27I look like a completely different person.
06:30I have never seen myself like this before.
06:34Holy crap.
06:35I think you look stunning.
06:36I feel gorgeous.
06:37It's different, but I love it so much.
06:40Do you feel like Megan Fox?
06:41I feel like Megan Fox.
06:42Yes!
06:45It's a big time, it's a big time.
06:47I am excited to see Ash.
06:49I have no idea what to expect, and the suspense is killing me.
06:53I'm very excited, and a little more of this, I don't know what to expect, so we'll see
06:57what happens, yeah.
06:58I'm very excited to see Ash's new look.
07:00I'm very intrigued.
07:06Ta-da!
07:10Oh my God.
07:13Oh my gosh.
07:14I love it, honestly.
07:16It's very, like, fashion-forward chic.
07:18Oh my gosh.
07:19It's gorgeous.
07:22Oh, I want to know what you think.
07:23It's different.
07:24It's weird, but I like it.
07:26And you have eyebrows.
07:28I love the dress a lot.
07:30Wow.
07:31Seeing Megan in my living room.
07:35The transformed experience was magical.
07:38It was a lot of hard work, but overall, it was just super awesome and fun.
07:43I loved seeing my family and friends' reaction.
07:45I thought it was so funny.
07:47I love seeing people get shocked, and it's like, people don't get shocked anymore because
07:50I'm always shocking.
07:52But in terms of wardrobe, it is a little too basic.
07:55I do not think that I will go this direction again, but I'm still very happy with the experience.
