00:00I would describe my style as Goblincore punk with a little bit of 2000s scene kid.
00:06My style is constantly evolving.
00:08You do get kind of weird looks when you wear LVers out in public, but I don't really care.
00:14Today I'm going from 2000s emo to modern glam.
00:17No.
00:20No, this is not something I would wear.
00:22You're actually the first person to ever do my makeup.
00:24Are you ready?
00:25Yes.
00:26Oh, that's weird.
00:28I will be revealing the look to my mum and my best friend.
00:34Oh my god.
00:36Do you know who that is, Ripley?
00:37Who's that?
00:41I've probably made somewhere near 250 designs over the past three years making stuff like this.
00:47My favourite collections to do are my Halloween collections.
00:50I just have anything Halloween, anything spooky.
00:53My name is Kit, I'm 24 years old and I am a self-employed jewellery business owner.
00:58It's plastic, it's kind of tacky, it's bright coloured.
01:03My goal with my business is to empower others to express themselves,
01:07be creative and not really care what other people think.
01:13I would probably describe my style as Goblincore punk with a little bit of 2000s scene kid and emo in there.
01:21And a little bit of skater punk as well.
01:22I'm heavily inspired by the 2000s scene kid culture now.
01:26That's a little bit more than what I used to be.
01:29The key elements of my makeup look are probably my contact lenses
01:33because it makes such a drastic change to how I look.
01:37Black lipstick.
01:38Never really thought that I would ever be a black lipstick person
01:42but it's become such an iconic part of my look.
01:45I spend so long doing my eyeliner.
01:48I spend so long doing my eyeliner to make it sharp and perfect
01:52and then I'll dab random little dots and white marks and things everywhere.
01:59Today a makeup artist is coming to transform me from my 2000s emo Goblin punk look
02:05to a modern glam look and I'm anxious about it
02:09but I'm also excited to see how I look at the end of it.
02:12I will be revealing the look to my mum and to my best friend CJ
02:17who I've known since I was about 12 or 13.
02:21I think my mum will probably really like whatever this look is.
02:24I think she'll like it much more than CJ will.
02:27I guess I'd like the idea of maybe looking glamorous
02:31and you know wearing trending clothes.
02:33I don't think it would ever suit me
02:34but I'd like to kind of see what I'd look like in that.
02:37There's been parcels sitting in my house for the past week
02:41and I've been dying to open them.
02:48Let's have a look at these.
02:53Um I don't like the strappiness at the top but the colour is good.
02:57I like the colour. I feel like the colour matches my hair.
03:00Oh I see gold. I don't really like gold jewellery that much.
03:04You know I like that it's a layered necklace
03:06because I wear lots of necklaces myself.
03:08I layer my own necklaces so it's something I would maybe style
03:13but just in gold.
03:14Oh it's a wig.
03:18I'm going back to my natural colour.
03:21Apparently.
03:23Yeah it's a brown wig.
03:25Oh no.
03:30No this is not something I would wear.
03:34It's not a dress. It's a pantsuit.
03:37It looks like a parachute.
03:39I'm gonna look like a Christmas tree.
03:42Gold and green. No.
03:47Hi.
03:48Hi.
03:48Hi Kate.
03:49I'm Jodie.
03:49Lovely to meet you.
03:50From Makeup Artistry.
03:51Can you come?
03:53Have you done makeup for a while?
03:55Yeah I've been doing it for 12 years.
03:5712 years.
03:58Yeah.
03:58What about yourself? How long have you been doing makeup for?
04:01I probably started doing makeup when I was about 13.
04:04I really only started getting good at doing it when it was like two years ago.
04:08You're so talented.
04:10Every time I sit down to do my makeup it's
04:13Every time I sit down to do my makeup it gets more and more expressive.
04:19My style is constantly evolving.
04:21It's definitely gone from being quite basic alternative to
04:26a very extreme level of alternative.
04:29At least to some people. I don't think it's extreme. I think it's pretty normal.
04:33You do get kind of weird looks when you wear elf ears out in public
04:37but I don't really care because I like the way that they look
04:39and I like the way that they go with the rest of my style.
04:42So what made you go for this kind of style and look?
04:45I've always kind of been alternative.
04:47The support of the online community has made me just come out of my shell more.
04:52I do get quite a lot of people staring at me.
04:54I've had people make comments under their breath or laugh at me
04:58but it completely contrasts to the support that I've had online for the way that I look.
05:03So being able to express who I am fully online
05:06has led to me finding a community of people that I really identify with and associate with.
05:17Do you find it relaxing someone else doing your makeup
05:20or do you prefer just doing your own makeup?
05:22You're actually the first person to ever do my makeup.
05:24Really?
05:24I've never had my makeup done before.
05:28I think Kit's got such a beautiful skin
05:32so I'm putting some shimmer and getting her skin looking more glowy.
05:38I think it's going really well and her eyes are just popping already
05:42and that's not me even finished yet.
05:46I'm interested to see what you think when you see it.
05:55Right Kit, that's your hair and makeup done.
05:57Time for you to get dressed.
05:59So I'm playing with my fingers and I normally don't do that unless I am anxious about something.
06:04So yeah, I really just want to see what I look like.
06:08Are you ready?
06:16I feel like Fiona from Shrek.
06:21Oh, that's weird.
06:23I think it makes me look kind of taller.
06:29It's too fancy.
06:31Yeah.
06:31Do you like the shoes?
06:32I think if they weren't so blocky I'd like them a wee bit more.
06:38I like a platform but they're not quite my kind of platform.
06:41I think you look stunning.
06:43I kind of feel like I'm doing red carpet or something.
06:47Not what I would wear but yeah, red carpet.
06:51Oh my god.
06:52I think my mum will like the wig and my mum will really like the makeup.
06:59I think CJ is going to hate it.
07:03I really don't think she's going to like any of it.
07:06She's always been quite alternative but in the last two years
07:09she's kind of found her way with makeup a lot more.
07:11I think I'm more confident.
07:12Yeah, she's definitely more herself.
07:22Oh my god!
07:25Do I look like a Disney princess now?
07:27I thought I looked like Fiona from Shrek.
07:30I see it.
07:32Yeah.
07:32You look so tall.
07:34What do you think of it?
07:36Very normal.
07:37Very normal, yeah.
07:38It's giving normcore.
07:39I'm on the wrong side of TikTok now.
07:41I like the green on you.
07:42Do you?
07:43Yeah.
07:44You know what, I do.
07:45I like it.
07:46Do you know what it is?
07:47You're missing your ears.
07:49Do you know who that is, Ripley?
07:50Who's that?
07:50Hello!
07:52You're not the person that takes her out for walks.
07:54I thought that CJ's reaction was very different to what I'd kind of expected to begin with.
07:58She didn't think it was very me but she actually didn't hate it very much which was surprising.
08:03I knew my mum would kind of like it a little bit
08:06but I think she prefers me being able to express myself and be exactly who I want to be.
08:12Stop side-eyeing me!
08:14You know who I am.
08:15If I've learned anything from this experience
08:17it's definitely that I am 100% happy with the way that I look.
08:21Self-expression is such an important form of art to me
08:25and makeup isn't just about making yourself look pretty.
08:28It is an art form in itself.
08:47you
