00:00Hey it's Adrian and today I'll be putting cases from MacBack,
00:03Pitaka, and Taurus up against each other for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
00:07Now all of these cases are good in their own way and they all bring something unique to the table
00:12that the other ones don't offer. However after using all of them for a while there's one case
00:17that I see as offering the best possible experience overall. So let's take a closer look at these
00:23cases from MacBack, Pitaka, and Taurus and you can see which is the best for your Samsung Galaxy
00:27S24 Ultra. When it comes to the design of the cases it's really going to come down to personal
00:32preference. So with the Pitaka case it's built with aramid fiber and it has this textured type
00:38of back that lends or adds extra grip ability to the case. The Pitaka case also has individual
00:44cutouts for each of the lenses and even for the flash so that's a great attention to detail.
00:49All of the ports on the phone are completely unrestricted or unobstructed so you have easy
00:54access to the S Pen charging and the speakers. The Pitaka case is also the most lightweight case
01:00coming in at around 42 grams. It's also the slimmest case so you're not adding much bulk
01:05or weight to your overall setup. The design on the Taurus case is probably going to be hit and
01:09miss with some of you so it's a transparent type of look instead of solid black like the other two
01:14cases so you can see a little bit of the color coming through. Now there's no individual lens
01:20cutouts it's one huge cutout so you may or may not be a fan of that. I personally like the
01:24individual lens cutouts it just looks cleaner for me. Now there's a built-in kickstand that you
01:30can see that you know the other cases do not offer and you also have unrestricted access to all of
01:36the ports. In terms of the weight it's the second heaviest case coming in at 50 grams and it's also
01:41the second most bulkiest case in terms of hand feel. The design of the Macback case is pretty
01:49sleek and no nonsense so it's a smooth finish overall and we do have individual lens cutouts
01:55not the same detail as on the Pataka case where there's actually a cutout for the flash unit
02:00but this still looks really sharp. Now we still have unrestricted access to all of the ports and
02:04specifically for the S Pen they have a little cutout to make it even easier to get access to
02:09the S Pen which is a nice touch. There's also a lanyard type of loop on here if you wanted to kind
02:15of hang or suspend your phone from that. This is also the heaviest and bulkiest case of the three
02:20coming in at around 76 grams so you will feel this in your pocket and while you're holding it but it
02:26does offer the most protection of the three cases so let's talk about protection next. All of the
02:31cases will protect your phone anytime you put it kind of the camera lens side facing down or screen
02:36side down on any type of flat surface however the Macback case offers the most protection.
02:43It's the thickest case and you have extended lips kind of raised you know to protect the camera lens
02:49and the front screen so yeah this is the case i would be most comfortable with dropping on pretty
02:54much any type of surface and from any height and you could see just how deep the lenses are recessed
03:01thanks to how thick the rear lips are on this case so yeah you're going to be protected
03:07pretty much from every angle on this phone even from the sides of it. It offers the highest raised
03:14lips out of all the cases. The Torus case offers the second most protection now it also has extended
03:21lips on the front and on the rear anytime you put the phone down. Now if we take a look at the camera
03:27lens grouping here you can see if i kind of angulate it the lens do sit down and they are
03:32recessed a good amount kind of similar to the Macback case but there's no individual cutout so
03:38definitely you know dust or sand or things like that can kind of rub against the side of the lens
03:44element so you know precise cutouts would have been a little bit better on this case but overall
03:49i would also feel comfortable dropping this we do have cushioned corners like with the Macback case
03:54as well but i don't think this would survive drops from as high because the material is just not as
04:00thick as on the Macback case. The Pataka case offers the least amount of protection in my opinion
04:06even though this is an aramid fiber case and you know that is a very strong material but if we take
04:12a look at the lens grouping here you can see that the lens just sit slightly below the lip or this
04:18kind of protective housing here. Now the reason for that is so that it kind of minimizes wobbling
04:24on this case you can see there's very minimal wobble but you know this is not going to offer
04:28as much protection if you place it on a surface that was not you know super flat for example you
04:33know something could make its way in there however we do have nice cutouts for basically you know
04:38each lens and even the flash so that offers a good amount of protection. Now we do have you know
04:43cushioned corners and all that stuff as well and if we take a look at the front we do have a slightly
04:49extended or protruded lip like with the other cases but this is the smallest amount of kind of
04:55protective lip here out of all of the cases. The other thing is on the sides of this case
05:02the lip is basically flush with the screen and I believe they've made it flush so that if you use
05:07the edge panels you can just easily drag them out without any type of obstruction at all. Now with
05:13the other cases even though the lips are raised I still have no problem just kind of you know sliding
05:18out any type of elements that I want so yeah out of all the cases this is going to offer the least
05:22amount of protection. When it comes to hand feel I think most people will prefer the Pataka case
05:27because it's the slimmest and most lightweight of the cases and the back of here with this textured
05:32pattern it's also super grippable so it's an easy phone to just kind of manipulate in your hand so
05:38if you're looking for the best hand feel it's probably going to be Pataka. The Taurus case
05:42offers even better grippability than the Pataka case because we have this rubberized type of
05:47finish going along the sides of the phone and even though we have this matte finish at the back it
05:51also lends to grippability so it doesn't feel like a smooth phone that's going to just fly out
05:56of your hand. It's also not super bulky so it's also very easy to manipulate this phone one-handed
06:02without adding too much additional bulk. And we have the Macback case so this is the thickest phone
06:08case I've reviewed so far. It definitely adds noticeable bulk and weight whenever you're
06:15carrying it in your pocket and you're holding it in your hand. Now I'm someone who doesn't like
06:20super lightweight or slim setups. I like feeling the bulk. I like the heaviness of basically
06:25anything that I own whether it be watches, laptops, you know, phones, etc. So for me this is really not
06:32an issue. In terms of wobble the Macback case has zero wobble. You can see I could press on any
06:38corner and because it's such a thick case it's sufficiently padded and you're not going to have
06:43any issues. Same with the S Pen. While I'm using the S Pen you can see the phone is not going anywhere
06:47and the magnet on the case is not affecting S Pen usage in any way. The Torus case also has no
06:55type of wobble. You can see I'm pressing on the corners and if I use the S Pen again
07:00zero type of wobble and the magnet on here for MagSafe charging has no effect on the S Pen.
07:06The Pataka case does have slight wobble. You can see I can get it to rock because it is the thinnest
07:11of the cases so there's not a lot of padding and in terms of the S Pen use again it's really
07:16unaffected by the magnet in here for MagSafe charging and even though there is a little bit
07:20of rocking if I just kind of tap on the corners it's still very manageable. I'm also happy to
07:25report that all of these cases support Qi wireless charging and MagSafe charging. However only one
07:32of these cases outdoes the others when it comes to the MagSafe charging hold. So let's get into
07:38the unique features next. In terms of unique features, so the Macback case offers the strongest
07:43magnets I've used on any case or even in general. So these use industrial strength N52 magnets and
07:50for how slim this case is it's amazing just you know the strong magnetic attraction that this
07:56case has. So anytime I'm in the kitchen and I'm cooking I can mount this overhead to my stove
08:02air vent. I mount this to metal shelving and even when I'm showering I mount these to small thin
08:08metal clips holding my bathroom mirror in place and it just stays there you know while I'm blasting
08:13music showering. This is just you know so versatile in where you can mount it and when it's mounted
08:19in my car and I'm driving if I go over a pothole or a bump or anything like that it's rock solid
08:25on the MagSafe mount it is just not going anywhere. I just trust the magnetic system in here to mount
08:30this basically anywhere and I never have to worry about it. Very strong magnets also give you
08:35additional versatility so you can buy MagBack's optional wallet which securely attaches to the
08:41back of the case thanks to these strong magnets and that wallet doubles as a kickstand. You can
08:46also get their MagStick but there's already one that comes in the case but you can buy additional
08:51and you can mount it to any type of surface using adhesive to make any non-metallic surface a new
08:56mounting spot. The Pataka case offers something that not many cases can compete with and that is
09:02the addition of these three buttons on the left side here. So these are actually programmable NFC
09:08buttons and you could program them to do a bunch of things so if you're familiar with Samsung modes
09:13and routines you could go ahead and set these up to trigger an entire routine to do multiple actions
09:20and you could just set it to do something as basic as launching an app. So for example if I press and
09:25hold on the bottom one here you can see it's opened up the camera app now normally to do that
09:30I would have to double tap on the power button to do it but with this it's just a short long press
09:36and I could use this to do something else like activate an assistant. I could also use this button
09:41to activate the assistant. If I long press on the second one it's going to turn on the flashlight
09:45super handy when you're you know kind of looking for keys at night where you want to illuminate
09:50and then if I go ahead and long press the first one I've set it to launch YouTube. Now you have
09:55a bunch of functionality because you can launch use these to launch you know Google Maps you can
10:00use it to jump into an app to a specific area in the app if it's supported so yeah this is just
10:06truly fantastic and it can be beat if you're looking for a kind of productivity and efficiency
10:12in your phone. The one small downside to the system you can see is if I go ahead and launch
10:16the flashlight app if I press it again it's actually not going to close that app. The same
10:21thing goes for YouTube so if I go ahead and long press it it's going to open YouTube and if I long
10:26press it again it's not going to close it so I have to manually close the app or manually turn
10:31off the flashlight and the Taurus case offers this built-in kickstand that also doubles as the
10:37MagSafe ring so with the kickstand you can just go ahead and have this you know kind of place
10:42vertically anytime you're watching videos or you could place it horizontally and it's sufficiently
10:47friction you could see you know it's not really going anywhere so I could kind of put it like
10:51this and have this kind of extreme angulation and the phone still stays but so this is actually
10:56really handy to have you know you can set this anywhere anytime I'm you know eating I could just
11:01watch a video on here and it's no problem same with you know kind of video calls you can have
11:05it propped up like that now it doesn't have the strongest magnet but I would say it's probably
11:11middle of the road between the other two cases but yeah if you definitely need a kickstand and
11:15you don't want to use like the wallet attachment that I'll show with the MagPak case this is going
11:20to be your best bet. Overall you can't go wrong with any of these cases they're wonderful for
11:25the S24 Ultra if you want the slimmest type of setup and you want that type of productivity
11:31or efficiency hack go ahead and get the Pataka case you know with the three programmable NFC
11:36buttons you can just launch you know apps app pairs you could do routines it just makes it such
11:42a fantastic case and if you want a good all-around experience go ahead and pick up the Taurus case
11:48you know it's not too bulky it's only a little bit heavier than the Pataka case but you're getting
11:54much more protection with the raised lips and you also have that built-in kickstand basically
12:00allowing you to use this you know vertically or horizontally without needing to kind of like
12:04magnetically attach it anywhere but if you want just the best possible experience overall it's
12:10going to have to be the MagPak case in my books you get the most protection thanks to just how
12:15thick and raised the lips are all around the case it's the case I would feel most comfortable
12:20dropping you have the N52 industrial strength magnets allowing you to mount this anywhere and
12:26you know people are going to be wow I've mounted this to the metallic housing on microwaves people
12:31are just amazed that you know you could just stick this anywhere and have music blasting out of it or
12:35a video playing you don't have to actually hold it in your hand it comes in so clutch on top of that
12:40even though there's no built-in kickstand on this they have a ton of accessories you can buy so you
12:45can buy the magnetic wallet attachment you can buy their MagStick and then you can just
12:50create your own type of mounting surface or you could use the wallet to double as a kickstand so
12:55it's just the most versatile case out of all of the cases for me and it's the case that I use as
13:01my daily driver out of all three cases they all have their own unique things that they bring to
13:06the table but overall this just gives me the most versatility day to day so if you're interested in
13:13picking up any of the cases that I feature today I'm going to leave links down below and I'll also
13:18leave links to the full review of each of the cases if you want a bit more in-depth of a review
