Melton coach Troy Scoble speaks after his side's win over Darley
Transcript
00:00How proud are you of these boys after everything you guys have been through as a club this year and you've got two weeks to think about a grand final?
00:06Yeah absolutely really proud of them, we've spoken a lot about you don't deserve to get grand final opportunities, you earn them
00:13and I think they've well and truly earned an opportunity in a couple of weeks time, it's pretty well publicised the challenges we've had throughout the year
00:21so to see them get it done in the two finals has been great, the two teams that knocked them out of the finals last year too.
00:28Quarter time, it was four goals to two, wasn't sure what the wind was doing, that second quarter though that was a defensive masterclass.
00:34Yeah we've focused a lot on that, I mean we've respected Ali a lot, especially their contest work, he's so good and he was really good again today
00:41so we had to make sure defensively we had good shape behind the ball because we knew that a fair amount of times the ball was going to be coming straight at us
00:47so yeah to be able to get to half time in front, I think in any final means that you can just try and build from there, you've had a good look at the conditions
00:55you've had a good look at what the opposition's throwing at you by then, so that was really the goal for us.
00:59Two goals into the wind, holding them scores, I mean that's just, the game's over then, you can kick away 4-1 or something in the third quarter.
01:08Yeah we probably didn't run the game out that well in the end, we managed a few players probably from the 10 minute mark at the last
01:14but I mean you take what you get in this game and I thought Daly's, you know the first 10 minutes were last, especially Daly were really strong so yeah.
01:23Well you're 56 points up though and you win by 41, you can't, well 43, you can't, can't stop you.
01:28Yeah I think in any final a win's a win, like you win them by a point if you have to, I mean last week we played in you know horrid wind and took the win which was a goal or two so yeah, we're just really happy.
01:38What's your plan for the next couple of weeks now, you said the boys have 48 hours off, will you train, will you just give them a little bit of homework for the week, what are you going to do?
01:47Oh well we didn't actually plan, we sort of tried not to stay in the moment and not plan too far ahead but we'll definitely have a look at how the boys pull up from this game and make sure the next few days is more about recovery
01:57and then we'll definitely get a really good block of work in towards the back end of next week and then start to prepare for the week later, yeah.
02:06You boys cramped but it didn't look like you had any major injury concerns?
02:09No that was, yeah that was a bit of a concern because we sort of pride ourselves on our conditioning as well and I'm not sure whether it was just a bit of a warmer day or not but yeah we had a few cramps so we've probably still got a bit of work we need to get done yet.
02:21Yeah exactly right mate, as a coach though, you're into the grand final, what does that mean to you?
02:26Oh just wrapped and you know I think when you do get involved in coaching you sort of get a fair bit of your satisfaction out of others so yeah probably seeing all the boys, the looks on their faces after the game today, that gives you that satisfaction.
02:40Then seeing all the volunteers in the rooms at the moment, I mean we know we haven't won anything yet but to get there you sort of at least get a few days where you don't have to think about footy next weekend and just enjoy the moment.
02:49And let them bash the crap out of each other.
02:51Yeah they're two good sides or whoever it's going to be next week so yeah we'll have to make sure we do our homework but we'll at least have a few days of rest.
