00:00These are the countrymen who are here on this special day of Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:04We will be able to meet one of the most important personalities
00:08who is behind the successful operation of People's Television Network.
00:12None other than the General Manager of PTV,
00:16GM Toby Nebrida.
00:19Good morning, GM.
00:21Good morning.
00:23Rise and Shine Filipinas.
00:25Thank you and happy birthday, happy anniversary.
00:28It's been 4 years already.
00:30It's been 4 years since Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:32GM Toby is happy because sometimes he really visits the sets.
00:36Suddenly.
00:37Suddenly.
00:38Suddenly.
00:39Suddenly.
00:40Suddenly.
00:41Suddenly.
00:42Right?
00:43I wonder, why do you visit the sets routinely?
00:48Even here in RSP.
00:50In RSP, in Mike Abelibe, in Seclari, in Pulat, in Centro.
00:58I guess, it's just a habit.
01:02I would visit the studio and see what's actually happening inside the studio.
01:10I also visit the booth.
01:14I also check how things are going on.
01:18The other thing is, I was out of television for a decade and a half.
01:26Almost 2 decades.
01:28I miss hearing the sounds, the shouts.
01:33The noise.
01:36While it's all, you know, you look like it's all controlled in front of the camera.
01:44But people do not actually.
01:45They cannot see the chaos behind that.
01:49Behind the scenes.
01:50Oh my God.
01:51I live in.
01:52But GM, what is your vision for RSP and for the whole network in the future?
01:59It's not different.
02:02My message on day one.
02:06Number one, it's people.
02:08We have to nurture our people.
02:12Build their capabilities.
02:14See to it that they are truly the television professionals that the industry relies on.
02:22And well, right now, you take a look at the landscape of television.
02:26Many of the famous names and personalities in the television industry started here.
02:34In PTV, GTV, MBS, NBN, PTV.
02:41The training ground here is different.
02:45If you survive PTV, you can survive anywhere.
02:51So that's it.
02:52Number one, people.
02:53Number two, programming.
02:55We intend to provide a larger, a broader mix of programming.
03:04IE, IE.
03:06We need to inform and educate, number one, so that people are informed.
03:11They are able to come up with intelligent decisions.
03:15We help them assess and analyze the environment.
03:20The next set of IEs is to inspire and empower.
03:26And I think one of the best examples that I can show is
03:32how do you translate the double goal of our Olympia, Kaloyulo.
03:40You unite the country behind the banner of the flag, the people, Bagong Pilipinas.
03:53That's it.
03:55And then last, PPT.
03:58T is for technology.
04:00We hope to modernize, go full digital of our technical capabilities.
04:12And you add PPT together.
04:15Hopefully, that translates to a viable revenue stream.
04:19So it's a vision I had ages ago when I started out as a senior reporter.
04:29And I hope I will be able to, with your support and your help,
04:34we will be able to make that dream come true.
04:42Don't cry.
04:44You're the one who's crying.
04:46It's nice to hear the acronyms and acrostics.
04:50Yes, our full support, people, programming, and technology.
04:54But of course, we have a new head for PCO, Secretary Chavez.
04:57Secretary Chavez, do you have a directive for PTV?
05:00Yes.
05:02Yesterday, we did have a budget briefing so that we could provide him our input.
05:11He will defend our budget for PCO and for all the attached agencies.
05:21Well, number one, congratulations to Secretary Cesar for his new assignment.
05:30Secretary Cesar is not new to the government.
05:34But the other thing I guess that you guys should also notice is that Secretary Cesar is not new to the media.
05:42He and I covered the Senate in our previous avatar.
05:50Some time ago. Last year?
05:53Not just last year.
05:56Anyway, he's not new to the information, not new to the media.
06:04Number one, professionalism.
06:07Number two, protect the truth.
06:11And that's why one of the first directives was to ask all of us heads of state media agencies to designate fake news, fact checkers.
06:27And we're going to do that.
06:30And the other thing is full support for the President, his key directives, and his programs.
06:38Because if we can't put our countrymen in their current position, what are we in public service for?
06:50Anyway, that's it.
06:52It's critical because next year is the election.
06:54Election.
06:55The information should be accurate.
06:58Before we push on, I'd also like to thank Secretary Cheloy Garafil for her service.
07:09She's not new to the media.
07:15She started her career as a reporter in print.
07:20And she's not new also with public service.
07:26In various roles, we reached her when she was...
07:33And we wish her well in her new posting.
07:39So thank you, Sec. Cheloy and Sec. Cesar.
07:43You have the full support of your people's television network behind you, sir.
07:49On a lighter note, enjoy your...
07:53This is the fourth anniversary of Rise and Shine Philippines.
07:58Message on our anniversary of RSA.
08:01Number one, happy anniversary to Rise and Shine Philippines.
08:07I think what we should note as well, if you look back at four years,
08:12Rise and Shine Philippines was born out of the adversity of the great disruptor of our times.
08:20The COVID pandemic.
08:22And we were able to launch a morning program that provided information critical at that particular time in our country's history.
08:39It's really different.
08:42So I hope that at least 40 years from now, Rise and Shine is still here.
08:50Your grandchildren may be the ones who will face us, our viewers.
08:59Or Rodrigo Reseta, the pit.
09:02Well, thank you so much, GM Toby, for joining us on our fourth anniversary.
09:08Thank you very much.
09:10Have you seen my clothes in detail?
09:14It's a little tight.
09:17You're good.
09:20All right. Thank you very much once again, GM.
09:22You can count on our support as well.
09:25Our newest Secretary of the Presidential Communications Office, Secretary Cesar Chavez.
09:31You can count on our full support from Rise and Shine Philippines.
