00:05A man has been arrested following reports that two people were stabbed near a park in
00:09South Shore Blackpool.
00:11Emergency services were called to a disturbance on Watson Road, near to St Anne's Road.
00:17At around 6am on Wednesday 4th September, the 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion
00:22of section 18 assault, grievous bodily harm, and remains in custody.
00:28Overnight maintenance around one of the busiest motorway junctions near Wigan is taking place
00:33this month as part of a £390,000 project.
00:38National Highways is carrying out carriageway repairs and road service improvements, including
00:42resurfacing and replacement road markings and road studs around Junction 23 on the M6
00:49of Hadock Island at St Helens.
00:51Similar work will be taking place further up the M6, between Junction 26 at Oral and
00:57Junction 27 at Wigan.
00:59The work at Hadock Island starts on Monday 9th September.
01:04Burnley Council's executive is being asked to approve a new masterplan for Townley Park
01:09that will guide the development of the historic parkland over the coming years.
01:14The aim of the masterplan is to identify and explore options for the development and management
01:19of Townley Park in a way that respects the historic and biological heritage of Townley,
01:24ensuring that the park meets the recreational needs of the whole community and identifies
01:29opportunities for income generation.
01:32The masterplan was developed through public consultation in which more than 1,000 members
01:36of the public participated.
01:41A 17-year-old boy is due to appear at Lancaster Youth Court on September 10th in relation
01:46to a stabbing incident in Morecambe over the weekend.
01:50Emergency services were called to Kensington Road at 6.45pm on Saturday 31st and a man
01:57in his 50s was found to have suffered stab injuries.
02:03The teenager from Billings, Wigan was arrested on Sunday following enquiries and charged
02:08with attempted murder, robbery and possession of a bladed article in public.
02:12He has been remanded in custody after appearing before magistrates on Tuesday.
02:20Radio 2 in the Park comes to Preston this weekend where there will be 30 music stars.
02:25Between Friday, September 6th and Sunday, September 8th, Radio 2 will be taking over
02:31More Park in Preston for the annual music festival.
