00:00Thomas the Babysitter
00:05It was a busy morning at Knapford Station.
00:09Thomas, Annie and Clarabel had one last journey to make before they could take a break.
00:15Oh my! What a racket, Clarabel!
00:19I know, Annie, but at least they aren't trying to get on board.
00:24I didn't know something so small could make so much noise!
00:29But the mother and baby did want to travel on Thomas' branch line.
00:34I don't think babies like trains.
00:38I'm not looking forward to this journey at all!
00:46But as soon as Thomas got on his way, the baby stopped crying.
00:51Oh, the poor thing! It was probably just tired.
00:56I think it likes me, Clarabel!
00:59I'm good with children too!
01:01Don't forget who's pulling you!
01:03Maybe it's me the baby likes!
01:06Whatever had stopped the baby crying didn't last long.
01:12Oh, why are you crying, Thomas? Have you lost another race?
01:17It's not me crying, Bertie! I've got a baby on board!
01:22Hello, Thomas! What's that awful noise?
01:27It's a baby, silly! Has anyone tried singing a lullaby?
01:32That's a splendid idea, Henrietta!
01:35Rock-a-bye, baby, on the tree top
01:40When the wind blows, the cradle will hop
01:45When the bar breaks, the cradle will fall
01:50And down will come baby, cradle and all
01:55I always did have a lovely singing voice!
01:59I can sing too, you know!

05:39Off to the sidings for a rest!
05:42A whole glorious hour before our next journey!
05:56But Thomas was watching the mother, trying to calm her baby
06:02Sir, sir, permission to miss my break please, sir
06:07Oh, whatever for?
06:09I want to make a special journey without stopping, so the baby and its mother can both get some rest
06:15But Thomas, no!
06:18What if it doesn't work?
06:21It did before
06:23Well, I think it's very kind of you, Thomas. Well done, you go ahead
06:32Whee, whee, whee, whee, whee, whee, whee, whee
06:48Ooh, Thomas, the baby's falling asleep
07:01Shhh!
07:10Kip, kip, kip!
07:11Hey! Hello, Thomas!
07:13Shhh! Bertie! The baby's asleep!
07:17Oh!
07:20And so was his mother.
07:25Finally they were back at Naphtha,
07:28where someone was waiting for them.
07:30Oh, Thomas, thank you for babysitting all morning.
07:34That's my wife and son you've been looking after.
07:37Is it? I didn't know that.
07:40I think this is the longest either of them have slept for days.
07:45We haven't even picked a name for him yet we've all been so tired.
07:49I'm not surprised. I never knew babies were so demanding.
07:53Excellent work today, Thomas.
07:56And you, Albert, I think you deserve a week's holiday
08:00so you can help out with your little boy.
08:02Oh, thank you, Sir Topham.
08:04Perhaps we should name him in honour of today.
08:08Do you agree, darling?
08:10Oh, yes, we must call him Thomas.
08:14Thank you again for all your help.
08:18My pleasure.
08:20I'm so sorry for making you miss your break, Annie and Clarabel,
08:25but I think it was worth it, don't you?
08:28Annie? Clarabel?
08:30I think you'll find they're fast asleep, Thomas.
